My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am a Fantasy and YA book lover, but this is my first Fae novel… I wasn’t sure if I’d like it or not. I have to say that I was impressed. Tatiana is a great heroine, smart, fearless, brave, and compassionate. She knows her mind, and is unafraid to be stubborn and follow the paths her instincts tell her to be true. This book has all the markings of great YA lore: a gutsy hero, an adventure to save a kingdom, and many trials along the way for Tatiana to prove her worthiness, or die trying. She is a well-rounded character and as admirable as any in the face of battle. Her close compatriots are also very well crafted and diverse: Foster, her potential love interest; Kane, the loyal and smart general; Tatiana’s own father, the king, whom she admires and is often a confidante. I was very invested in the outcome, and impressed with the depiction of the magical world. Copeland is very skilled at drawing the reader in with her characters, beautiful word illustrations of Middle Earth, and lots of battles and tests to keep readers engaged. A good escape that I thoroughly enjoyed.

To be a Fae Queen is the first book in it’s series. First read from this author for me and I love her work already. I felt this story was very well written and such a great read. Once started I was drawn into the magical world of the faes and had to know all that was happening, couldn’t set the book aside until finished. The characters were amazing, along with the story line. The story had magic, fae, drama, action, coming of age. Was very engaging throughout the entire story. I am really looking forward to what comes next of the fae world.

To be a Fae Queen by Tricia Copeland is not a typical read for me, and it took me a while to get into it; however, once I got in the groove, I loved it. The author has a way of making the reader invested in the characters and the world she’s created. This book is everything you could ever want to see in a Fantasy novel: faeries, monsters, magical places and sparkling characters. The book’s protagonist, a fairy princess named Titania, is faced with the duty of claiming the throne and becoming Queen in the land of her people. After hardships, loss, and many challenges, Titania must prove herself to be the rightful ruler. This is the first installment in the Realm Chronicles by Copeland, and I will be looking forward to the second. 4 out of 5 stars.

To be a Fae Queen (Realm Chronicles Book 1) by Tricia Copeland

This book is everything I needed without knowing it :Adventure, danger, romance, mystery, suspense, and magic. Add in the kick ass characters and fun plot line and you’ve got yourself a great read!

I love a good fantasy novel but it’s easy to get lost and confused in a world someone else made up; but this book covered all the bases so that didn’t happen. She was very descriptive and clear and even provided maps! It’s very evident Tricia put a lot of time and thought into her character development and boy did it pay off. I’m hesitant to read a book with a young main character that may be too angsty/coming of age because I’m currently living with one and I don’t need to think about two! Luckily, Tricia delivered the perfect protagonist and gave her a great plot to work with.

Without wanting to give too much away my only constructive feedback is that sometimes I felt some scenes were a bit vague. Now this could also be because she is setting things in motion that will all come together in the next book. This reader can’t wait to find out!

Titiana is the only daughter of the Fae King Oberon of Aubren. She has experienced loss. Her four brothers were killed three years ago. Three years ago was the last time she heard her mother’s voice. Titiana feels alone in her world. Her only refuge is the quiet time spent with her father and mother after the evening meal and her caretaker, Alfreda.

The peace of Aubren is threatened when the crystal anchors of the Faerie Ring start disappearing in the middle of the night. Titiana is placed under watch with a soldier named Foster. Titiana desires to help her kingdom, but the King urges her to stay away from matters of the state. Does Titiana follow her father’s orders? Will the young fae princess of fifteen discover her true destiny? Will the princess find true love?

The author’s use of imagery in this story places you in Aubren and on the sidelines of this fantastical mystical story. From beginning to end, you will be engrossed in the tale of magic, first love, and destiny.

I always love getting stuck into a good fantasy book. Faeries are always great characters to base the story around. Titania was never meant to be Queen but when her brothers die, she is the only living heir left to the Fae King. Titania is anything but ready to rule, but she musters up the courage to do what is right, but who can she trust??? she does not know. There is so much happening in this book suspense, lies, deceit, magic and adventures.

This is the first book I’ve had the chance of reading by Copeland. I’ve heard several of her books and have never read one. This one caught my eye.

Titania is a Fae Princess soon to be Queen. When something that haunts her people she takes it upon herself. She notices that her crystals are going missing. The quote I chose for Titania is: “We will need lanterns and fuel. But first, we must find out if there are any crystals left in the Faerie Ring or if the kobold have absconded with all of them. If there are not any left, I doubt they will return. They will probably move on to the next kingdom.”

Highly recommended for YA Fae lovers.

What a fascinating read for a first book into a fae series that is very different than any I have read before. This is my first time reading this author and I really liked her take on how the fae were made and their purpose in the different realms. Her imagery painted such a beautiful picture in my mind that I could SEE the landscape/world. I truly appreciated that her book was a true YA book in the fact that her language was clean and the young love wasn’t sexualized. Thank you, Ms. Copeland.

Additionally, I was happy to see that there are other books based off this world! I will be looking for those books next!

This for me was like Game of Thrones meets A Court of Rose and Thorns. I really warmed to the female protagonist in this story. Titania is a brave, determined and proud princess who goes on to become the Queen of the Fae after her brothers are killed in battle. I often forgot she was so young as she appears to be very wise and strong in her mind. The writer perfectly sets the scene and builds this story up gradually so that the great events aren’t overwhelming even thought hey are enthralling and exciting. I am excited to read the rest of this series and find out what happens next in Titania’s reign.

To be a Fae Queen is a captivating story following Titania as she navigates her teen years, fantasy villians, the politics of being a royal, and love. A captivating story from beginning to end, I was unable to put this book down. There’s an abundance of “omg” moments and heartwarming touches throughout. Titania is the epitome of a strong individual who leans into her emotions and acknowledges her strengths… and faults. Full of “magick,” this story is a wonderful read.

Titania is Princess of Aubren in the realm of Middle Earth, she is fifteen years old and for the last three years and since the death of her brothers, she has been in training to take over the throne from her father. She has a fulfilling life between her studies, learning about weaponry and fighting techniques, plus music and sewing as benefits a lady, although she has no friends and there is only one person she is close to, apart from her parents with whom she spends time every evening after dinner, talking with her father and trying to talk to her unresponsive mother. One evening, however, all this changes when Titania learns from her father that the crystals which power the faerie ring and link between theirs and the world above is weakening because an old enemy has returned and is stealing the crystals which power it. She struggles to fall asleep as questions whirl round her head as to what the enemy is planning, how they are getting into their kingdom, so she decides to go and get some books from the library to research and hopefully answer her questions. When she wakes up the next day and notices that it has dawned differently and she has a feeling of unease which she cannot place until she asks whether more crystals have been stolen, when the answer is an affirmative, she is even more determined to find out why.

As there is nothing she can do, Titania carries on with her normal routine of walking in the castle grounds with her mother until it is time for her midday meal, as she ate late, Titania carries on with her walk until she senses that she isn’t alone and confronts the person following her, it turns out to be a young soldier barely older than her who has been assigned to watch over her and although it feels smothering, she just carries on as usual. The next day, that feeling of unease and that something is wrong increases, especially when she discovers that some of her own crystals have disappeared as well, however, when she comes up with a plan to figure out where the enemies are and a way to defeat them, her father acknowledges the worth of it, but assigns the soldiers to carry it out rather than her, despite knowing her skills. As more crystals are stolen and her father still stonewalls Titania from carrying out a search and her plan to find the enemies alternative entrance point when it is clear that they are not using the most obvious one, she devises a plan and the young guard to help her, however, as they search, they do finally uncover where the enemy is hiding.

As she shoots arrows across the entryway, she begins to take down the enemies and knowing this, they summon the rest of the army to come and help to destroy them, in the end the King arrives and heads the forces going into the cave system they two have discovered, but he is injured by the enemy and at that point, Titania takes over and takes the lead in the charge. When they enter the cave system, Titania recovers the stolen crystals and enables the escape of the troops as the caves are hit by tremors and sending the guard ahead with the crystals, she remains to finish off the enemy troops and ensure the safety of as many of her fathers troops as possible. When they all return, the King abdicates his throne and elects Titania to become Queen in his stead, however, this isn’t to everyone’s taste and an uprising begins on the point that a female fae should not be on the throne as they are unsuitable, as her court is split between the two factions, a smear campaign against her begins, this leads to her being arrested for treason before a trial can be convened to decide the ruler.

Will Titania be able to prove her innocence in the matter of treason and be able to compete in the trials for the crown, or should she hand over to a distant male cousin so that he can rule in her place instead? There are more questions than answers for Titania as she tries to keep her head above water in this thrilling fantasy adventure which spans accross realms.

There is an adventure, good vs. evil, faeries, magic, and action. We are introduced to Titania. She is in line to rule Aubren. She was a young queen only being 15. She has so many decisions to make but she will make good decisions. Will she be able to keep evil at bay? This is the first book in the series and I cannot wait to see what is coming next.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To Be a Fae Queen is the first book in Tricia Copeland’s exciting new Realm Chronicles series. As the title suggests, it’s a fantasy series set in a vibrant, crystal-studded world of faeries and monsters.
Titania, the protagonist, has been kept protected (over-protected, in her mind) since her older brothers died leaving her the only heir to the throne. She hates being cooped up, particularly when her country is threatened and she knows she could be doing something to help. She’s very practical, coming quickly to solutions and confident in her decisions.
My favourite character is Alfreda, whose primary concern seems to be making sure everyone has enough to eat. She’s very down-to-earth and grounds Titania (in one of my favourite moments, Alfreda intervenes to stop Titania setting out still wearing her nightgown!).
This is an enjoyable, magical book and I look forward to reading more of the series! It gets a full five stars from me. I would recommend it to teenagers who enjoy fantasy and adventure, particularly those who love fairy stories and want something more grown up but just as magical!

To Be A Fae Queen is the first book in the Realm Chronicles by Tricia Copeland. Having read quite a few of Ms. Copelands books, I can always count on her to provide an engrossing read, and this story was no exception.
It is a little different from the other books of Tricia Copeland’s that I have read, in that this is an epic fantasy adventure, with faeries, magic, action, mystery, drama, challenges, deceit, lies, danger, good vs evil, self-discovery, coming of age, and fantastic world building. I was swept up into this adventure and loved every moment.
Titania is a great character, well-crafted, and with the presence, strength, and complexities I would have expected from a much older character. It was easy to forget, at times, that she is only a teenager. The secondary characters were given just as much attention and development and definitely added to the story.
Being handed the crown of the realm at only 15 years old was just the beginning of Titania’s epic adventure. She is going to have to embrace all her training if she is to overcome the many obstacles stacked against her, as well as figuring out who she can trust along the way- what ensues makes for a captivating story.
Bring on Book #2!

Thank you, Tricia Copeland!

The imagery was incredible, and I felt like I was right there in the pages with Titania on her quest to become (and stay) queen. The characters were great as well. I’ve read several different fae books but I’ve never read any quite like this. In some aspects I felt like I was reading a Sarah J. The characters are relatable and really made the story for me. This is a story about Titana is a fae who has lost her brothers and is about to take the throne. There is evil looming and a darkness that could leave them all damned. What happens next you don’t want to miss. It is a story full of magic and action. I found this book to be really well written and easy to read. It took me a few chapters to really get into but once I did I was in a magical realm of fairies I didn’t realize I would enjoy. I felt as though I was in this beautiful world so visually stunning in my mind. At times I felt like I was the main character and experiencing her challenges and difficulties. This is a coming-of-age story and the character must standup and fight her way to be the rightful heir to her throne. And it’s not an easy ride I can tell you that. I am expecting this to be part of a series of books, or at least I am hoping that it is. I can only imagine that the ride, or flight, gets even better.
