To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Book 1) by Jamie A. Waters. I’m just going to start this review with wow, Because honestly no words will do this story justice. I’m a person that truly has to be in the mood for a fantasy type story but from the description I hoped right in and was taken on quite the adventure. The characters are so well written and you can’t help but get drawn into their world. I was constantly finding myself trying to read faster so I could see what happens while also not wanting it to end. The author takes readers to a whole new world and I loved it. I can’t wait for more! Five stars all the way and highly recommend!

This book blew me away! Jamie A. Waters is an amazing storyteller. Her writing style reminds me of Sarah J. Maas in the way she pulls you into her world with captivating characters and a complex storyline. I fell in love with not only the main characters but the secondary ones as well. I’ve always loved strong female leads and Sabine is one kick ass lethal heroine.

She’s been on the run for the last ten years, hiding amongst humans. With two demons and a witch by her side to protect her she should be okay but the Wild Hunt never gives up. Sabine can’t help but be intrigued when a smuggler shows up with his own secrets to hide. She extremely attracted and his power is pulling her in but can Sabine trust him?

This is a riveting paranormal romance filled with action and intrigue that will keep you on the edge of your seat. I know this is a series that I’ll love and can’t wait to read the next part.

To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Series, #1)To Kill a Fae by Jamie A. Waters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Book 1) by Jamie A. Waters is a magical paranormal story that gets you right from the very first pages. This is a first for me with this author and I have to say I have found a new favourite. Jamie has done a great job with this tale that is exciting and intriguing, dynamic and vibrant. The characters are unique and an unruly bunch, but Jamie has done a wonderful job of making them come to life and pop off the page. With possessive demons, witches and pixies along with one kick a*se Fae, plus a stranger who is the captain of a ship that deals in smuggling and you have the recipe for one explosive nonstop action tale. I was so engrossed and entranced with this story that I had to stay up late to read each and every word. Who cares if you are tired the next day for work? Certainly not me, not when you have a gem like this one in your hands.

Sabine has been in hiding for many years from those who want her dead, but she has made some powerful friends who will not let anything happen to her but how will they stop her from hurting herself? Just how far will her enemies go to get what they want? Once the Wild Hunt begins there is no stopping it. Will she lose everything and everyone she loves?

I absolutely loved everything about this book. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book.

To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Series, #1)To Kill a Fae by Jamie A. Waters
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great read about secrecy. Sabine is a Fae living in disguise in the city of Akros. One night, she is tailed and ambushed by a group of men. She is saved by a man who is more than he seems. Sabine seeks to find out the truth of who is hunting herd despite the safety risks, fearful someone knows her identity. As events unravel, powerful forces come into play and the past returns to haunt her. Can you ever turkey stay hidden forever?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Sabine fierce and brave but caring underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the overprotective Dax or the more tender Bane.
I lived the visual detail throughout the novel like with the crypt with winding paths and standing stones for a sense of ancient magic and mystery. Or with the bar with the tree with the glass and the vines as beautiful in a deadly place. Or with the kaleidoscope with ti’s bold beautiful colours for a sense of wonder so vivid it’s as if you’re actually there..
I loved how the book drew the reader in at the start with the action and magic in a fantasy world. I also liked the use of suspense as details about the attackers and or Savines past were revealed slowly to keep you reading to find out what happened.
A great example of world building with fantatsical beings and creatures living alongside humanity with their own rules and laws and societies and customs. I loved the wide range of creatures like goblins and fae and demons giving the feel of a mixed society full of life and character and wonderfully written. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

To Kill A Fae by Jamie A. Waters is the first book in the Dragon Portal series. This book is exciting and fast paced and will leave you desperate to read the next book in the series.
This is a new author to me and yet when I read the description of this book I just knew that I had to give them a go. It was intriguing enough to draw me in before I had even opened to the first page. The story lived up to this expectation as well. I was enthralled immediately. Sabine is fantastic. I loved reading all about her – her journey, her powers, running for her life. There isn’t a single bit that I didn’t want to know.
The way the author builds up the plot is amazing. She knew the exact right moment to give you that bit of information and when to leave you trying to figure things out. The book was exciting and so well written. I definitely cannot wait for the next in the series.

I am SO glad I picked this up. It is attention getting right from Start. The writing in here seems to appeal to something in Me. I love the intrigue, the bits of information given and the relationships between the characters. It all keeps me going and wanting to know who, what, when, where and why.

This is filled with a plethora of wonderful and amazing characters. Pixies, witches, faeries, goblins and demons among others. I rarely say this but I came to enjoy meeting each one of them. Their relationships are so interwoven I couldn’t wait to figure them out. Who controls who? Whom are friends/hates who? Who is stronger? Who is lying and why? I was so happy to get these answered among others throughout the book.

The story is fast paced and is intricately woven to give me some Information. But I am a puzzler so I need to figure out the unasked questions. Therefore I could hardly put this down. Because just when I figured out one thing…another would catch my interest and I’m off again. Everything was explained so well and at the perfect time. Not too much background information at any given moment.

This is a first time author for me! I am impressed with the quality of work done on this book. I think she hit ALL the marks for a story well done. I absolutely LOVED it and highly recommend to all Paranormal lovers! I look forward to more from this author but especially these characters!

I give To Kill a Fae (The Dragon Portal Book 1) by Jamie A. Waters, 5 stars.

Sabine has been hiding in this city among the humans and others. Very few know who or what she really is. When a stranger comes to town, he is intriguing. But he seems to know a bit too much about her kind. It is obvious that he is hiding something, but what? Will it come back to hurt her? Someone has discovered who she is though and now she must make a decision, run or stay and fight, knowing she risks the lives of those she has come to care for.

This author is knew to me and I wasn’t sure what to expect. I was blown away. The characters and world are so fantastically created, I was pulled right in. The story is unlike anything I have read before and I completely enjoyed it. Sabine is such a wonderful lead character and the others in the book are so interesting and help make this book even better. I cannot wait to see what lies in store for us in the future books in the series.

If you are a fan of fantasy, a wonderful female lead characters, this book is for you.

I have not read anything by Jamie Waters and that will be changing after reading To Kill a Fae, the first book in The Dragon Portal series. From the cover graphics to the first page with the Fae on it, I knew this was going to be an exciting read. Fantasy books have been one of the genres that I loved reading and I want to thank Ms. Waters for showing me why this genre is awesome. Ms. Waters brought the characters to life with her descriptive writing skills. From the scenery to the characters, I felt like I was there with them. I became part of their world. The plot of the story was interesting and kept me guessing and looking around the corners. The story is about Sabine who escaped from her home as she was marked for death. Sabine was doing good until a stranger arrived where she was at. Sabine needs to focus because she has been tasked with a dangerous task and needs to be careful. Will Sabine be able to complete her task? Will the stranger be helpful to her or will he turn her over? This is a great beginning and I cannot wait to see where it goes from here.

TO KILL A FAE is the first story in The Dragon Portal series.

I am a huge fan of Fae AND Dragons and all things in between so this book is right up my alley.

There is great world building in this story. Secondary characters are as well developed as the main characters and carry the story along nicely. There is a freshness about the way the story unravels – although it is obvious as to who is what and why (as titles and blurbs tend to give away) I found myself invested in some of the not so nice characters. I wanted their stories also. I look forward to following the series as it continues.

I would recommend this to my teenage cousins and elderly book club members alike.

OMG why have I not discovered this author before now!!! This is one of my favourite books of the year, if not ever!!! I was completely riveted by the story- from beginning to end- and didn’t come up for air till I had wrung every last word off the pages. I got to the end and wanted more- not the more like it was lacking in some way- because this story is anything but lacking! No- the more as in, I don’t want to leave the story- I want to stay in its embrace- and I NEED to know what’s going to happen and don’t make me leave this ‘world’. That’s how good this book is. I NEED the next book STAT! Like today- no, make that YESTERDAY!!!!
To Kill a Fae is the first incredible instalment in The Dragon Portals Series by Jamie A. Waters. As you may have gathered by this point in my review, this is my first read from Ms. Waters- and what an brilliant introduction to her work/style this book has been. After stalking her, I mean ‘researched’ her- I have discovered that she has a whole slew of other book which I can’t wait to explore! They should keep me occupied for a while- and maybe keep my mind off the next book in this series, till it releases.
This is a sublime fantasy- with magic, Fae, action, adventure, drama, demons, dragons, other paranormal/supernatural beings & creatures, secrets, chemistry, tension, twists, and romance.
We jump straight into the action, right from the beginning- as Ms. Waters weaves this exciting tale. Her world building is fantastic- creating a rich and vivid ‘landscape’ in which to set her story. Her attention to detail is remarkable- and her little touches only enhance this otherwise superbly crafted world, making it so believable and ‘real’ that I was transported into the story and experienced everything right alongside the characters. Down to a detailed backstory, history, and cultural touches- nothing was left to chance. Giving the story an added depth and richness that can be lacking in other books.
I loved that this story is told from a duel perspective- as it gave me so much more to ponder. The story is definitely intriguing and suspenseful- and comes with quite a lot of heart-pounding action that had me devouring the pages to discover how things would play out.
The characters are truly wonderful- an absolutely stellar cast whom I couldn’t have loved more even if you’d paid me!! Sabine and Malek are divine. I LOVE every single little thing about them. They are so well developed, and they continued to grow and develop throughout the story. Even the secondary characters didn’t miss out on this attention- and their parts really enhanced the whole story. I loved the addition of the street urchins & Edvar, as well as Blossom & Barley- but especially Bane, Dax, Esme, and Balkin- pure genius on Ms. Water’s part.
I can’t find the words to truly do this story the justice it deserves, and I can’t recommend this book highly enough! So, do yourself the favour and grab a copy and discover all the spellbinding delights for yourself! This is definitely one of those stories that will stay with you long after you close the cover (have you noticed how fantastic this cover is- just WOW).

Kudos, and thank you, Jamie A. Waters- I’m looking forward to our next rendezvous!

This epic fantasy has it all! I wa a immediately drawn into this world of fae and never looked back. In fact I found myself so deeply drawn in that I was upset to have to re-emerge to reality after the last page was finished. Grand detail, imaginative characters – this story just felt so vivid and real to me. I loved every single page and am so excited to see how the series continues. My only complaint will be if I have to wait long for book two. Loved it!

The story has action, danger, mystery, and magic. It takes you on a journey that will have you wondering what is going to happen next. I loved reading about Sabine. This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. When I first opened this book the first thing that I see is a very pretty fae at the top of the chapter. For me this set the tone for the book and I was pulled in after that. The characters are connectable and brought the story to life. Sabrina is tasked with stealing an item but in order to break the barrier protecting it she may have to put herself in danger. I recommend reading this book to find out what happens next.
