The third book I have gotten my girls from Lois Wickstrom and like always the illustrations are beautiful. I got this book because my youngest loves bunnies, hopping around like one, and thought that’s what it was about but there’s only a small part that has bunnies and it’s just a candy (marshmallow) bunny. I’m not really sure how to feel about this book though and glad my kids didn’t get into this one like they do all of her other books. I feel as if the story is saying it’s ok to steal without consequences because adults will be too lazy to go through with any plans to deter it. My kids are too young to understand that and I did read it in a silly way for them so they didn’t pick up on that, especially when the little girl tricked the adult into getting what she wanted.

This is a cute little story and I really liked it. Stega has to overcome some issues with other children who don’t understand who she is and what she can do. I was glad to see that her real friends did understand and in fact loved her ability to poop rainbows. I think this is a great story for any child who feels that their special talent is not very important or special. I think it will help them to realize that their talents are equally amazing and their friends will greatly appreciate it and continue to be their friend.

Unicorn, Don’t Do That! by Lois Wickstrom. This is my favorite children’s author so I was excited to read this story to my nephews and they loved it! This is the story of Stega who is part dino part unicorn and she has been invited to her friend Benny’s housewarming party. When she worries about a gift to take she gets a bowl full of berries and heads that way. Chaos ensues on the way to Benny’s housewarming party. Written in rhymes and fun colorful pictures makes this such a fun read for kids. You can’t go wrong with this author.

This story has beautifully rendered colorful illustrations that go along well with a funny story of a part unicorn/ part dinosaur named Stega. Stega tries to find a nice present for her friend’s party. Along her journey, she gathers fruit and nuts for her friend, but by the time she gets to his place, she has eaten them all, and she needs to poop. This is where the funny part comes in! It turns out she poops rainbows as she is part unicorn! Her friends then react to her rainbow poop. Definitely an interesting way to show how friends can and should accept all of you.

We absolutely adore every book we get by this author, and this one was no different! I loved the beautiful illustrations as they added so much more to the story. Rhyming always gets my kiddos into the groove and makes them pay attention, so we enjoyed the rhythmic adventure with Stega. Pooping is a knee-slapping topic in our house and makes everyone giggle their heads off. I would highly recommend having this in your home for your young ones or even in your classroom as a fun, lighthearted book to liven up the school days.

Such a fun and silly little read. Lois Wickstrom has become my husband and I’s favorite children’s book author. Her books are always beautifully illustrated and have a great little story. This one was more on the silly side considering the “don’t do that” situation that made me and the hubs giggle. I always read him the books first before reading them to our boys. But this one was a big hit with all. Giggles all around with conversation around not eating too many different things. As we know it can give you a tummy ache.

Unicorn Don’t Do That is a children’s book told in rhymes about a half unicorn named Stega that gets invited to her friend Benny’s housewarming party. She is worried that she does not have a gift for him, so she fills a bowl full of berries. Stega gets hungry on the way to the party and eats the berries. Now she is feeling bad, but matters get worse when she gets close to Benny’s house and gets a tummy ache. A whimsical story full of bright, colorful illustrations that will certainly make both adults and children alike giggle out loud. The overall moral of the story is about friendship and acceptance.

My oldest (5yrs) loves unicorns so I had to get this one for her and it ended up being such a big hit with both of my girls. It is such an easy read and perfect for kids. I love the illustrations and the rhyming, I am just not sure about the content. Kids all think poop is funny but to me it’s not. Love that the main character is mixed race, love that there is a bully but the other kids stand up to the bully and include Stega anyway.
Very colorful and I am sure kids will love it.

Unicorn, Don’t Do That is a cute and colourful fantasy friendship story told in rhyme. As with most of Lios Wickstrom’s stories, there is a moral about friendship and acceptance.
Stega is a unicorn/stegosaurus hybrid who has been invited to her friend’s party. Unfortunately, she isn’t very crafty, so she decides to bring along a bowl full of food from the forest. The food smells so good and tastes even better, which leads to an empty bowl and unfortunate consequences at an inopportune time! How embarrassing!
I think 4-8 year olds would love this story – what kid doesn’t love a poop story?!
I found that some of the sentences were awkward to read as they were made to rhyme, but overall it was an easy read.

This was a cute and funny story. I read this with my 7yo who laughed throughout the whole thing. Safe to say, he enjoyed it. Sometimes the best gift, is one that wasn’t planned. My son and I have read so many of Lois Wickstrom’s books. I believe this one is one of his favorites. Who doesn’t love unicorns, rainbows and poop? I would love to have a unicorn who poops rainbows on my doorstep.

This is a cute story. With rhyming words, food, a party and pooping. Oh my I laughed so hard. What a fun story and great pictures as well. Stega is half unicorn and half stegosaur. While gathering different foods for her gift to a friend. She too enjoyed them as she ate them. Now all she has left is an empty bowl. Not only that but when her tummy starts to rumble, she can in no way make it to the woods. Is pooping on a doorstep acceptable? Once again this author has written a cute fast paced story. Totally child engaging and funny for all to read. The rhyming was child interaction as well. My grandchildren loved this story. A must read!!!

Stega a half Unicorn is on her way to Benny’s new cave house warming party. Stega wants to bring a gift but all the choices she makes are edible and she finds herself nibbling along the way. There is something special that happens when Stega though when she arrives at Benny’s front door.

This was fun, an imaginative way that rainbows are created. I think little kids will be laughing out loud with this book. Great illustrations.

I’m not sure if it was meant to be funny, but Unicorn, Don’t Do That! had me laughing out loud. It is a very colorfully illustrated, rhyming book about Stega. She is half unicorn and half stegosaurs, and has been invited to a party. She is stuck on what gift she should bring to the party, worried that her gift won’t be good enough.. Many of the other attendees make their own gifts, but Stega has no weaving or carving skills. She instead decides to bring food, but that leads to be a struggle as well, as she accidently eats all the snacks she’s gathered. She arrives at the party, and just the wrong time…. or maybe the right time…. either way, her gift is a surprise!
I love that even though Ada tries to shame and make fun of Stega, Benny is a true friend and stands up for her.

This was a nice short kids book about a unicorn who went to her friends party and along the way attempted to gather different foods as a gift, but kept accidentally eating them all. Then she ended up pooping a rainbow outside of her friend’s house. Colorful illustrations, rhyming words for engagement. Any kiddo thats into unicorns or poop will enjoy this story.

Stega gets invited to Benny’s house warming. But she wants to bring a gift she can give to Benny. She gets blueberries, walnuts, and honey. But eats them all. She brings Benny an empty coconut shell. He thinks it’s pretty and invites Stega inside to play. But she pooped outside the door, but it’s a rainbow! And it glows.

Beautiful art work, Stega is such a sweet and lovable character. I am not really sure I understand all the talk about pooping rainbows, but it looks pretty. It was nice to see Benny being accepting of his friend and her poop, even when Ada was making fun of her. Stega is so sweet when she shows up to the party but missing a present, she is so distraught.

Who doesn’t love a book about unicorns? I know the girls are obsessed and loved this adorable book about Stega the unicorn. She was invited to a party. She picked some blueberries to bring as a gift for Benny but ate the whole bowl. She then picked a bowl of walnuts and ate them too. Finally she spotted a beehive and got a bowl of honey but that didn’t make it to Benny’s either. By the time she arrived at Benny’s cave, her belly was rumbling and so she pooped right outside his door. It wasn’t an ordinary poop though….it was Unicorn poop. Loved the colorful pictures and the girls ( ages 2 & 4 ) loved the book

Unicorn Don’t Do That by Lois Wickstrom is a cute children’s fantasy story with a unicorn, friendship, a little ‘toilet’ humour which kids seem to love, interesting & colourful illustrations, plenty of fun, and adventure.
The illustrations are really cute- big, bright, bold, and colourful – bringing the story to life and really grabbed my grandchildren’s attention.
With a Unicorn dad and a Stegosaur mother, Stegga is very unique. We follow along when she is invited to her friend’s party- but what will she give him as a gift.
Looking forward to more from Ms. Wickstrom.
Happy reading…

Unicorn, Don’t Do That is a fun kids book by Lois Wickstrom. Stega has been invited to her friend Benny’s house-wetting party. As she goes about finding different gifts for Benny she keeps eating them. As she gets to Benny’s she can’t hold it and poops outside his door. This book was entertaining. My son got a kick out of Stega pooping outside Benny’s door. We got to see Benny embrace Stega’s “handmade gift” and my son did not like Ada’s telling on Stega. The illustrations were wonderful. This book got quite a few laughs from us both. This is a great addition to our book collection.
