Another intriguing story in the Masters of the Consulate series. I have loved each of the books in this series, which surprises me. I’m usually done after book 4 they just don’t have the same quality, but that isn’t the case here. Black has kept the story so interesting that you are cursing the end of the book and waiting for the next. The main love story of book nine is Master Botosoni and Catina. Will rules and expecting of the others keep them apart? Or do they get thuer HEA? Read to find out – it’s worth it.

Master Botosoni is the ninth book in the Masters of the Consulate Series. This is a Dark Vampire Romance that I absolutely loved reading. I’m a huge fan of not only this author but this series and I swear it gets better and better with each new book. This one is definitely my favorite yet of course I’ve said that with each new book. This is definitely going on my favorites list. I highly recommend reading this series in order as each book is about a different Master but its totally worth the read plus you get to know the characters better. I’m not going to give anything away. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I can’t wait for more from this Author.

I am really enjoying this series, each book adds another level to this very interesting story. The world created by this author is so unique and I love revisiting it with each new book. Botosoni and Catina’s story as they found each other was so special. As with any great love story there are a few twists and turns but every thing turned out great in the end. This is a good series and I look forward to reading the next installment.

WOW!!!! This book ended with a whollup of a twist that I didn’t see coming. I loved this book and series. I have read them all and can’t wait for the next one.
The chemistry that came off the pages between Catina and Master Botosoni was magnetic. Catina is a physic reader and from a strict family of proprietary. Her father is trying to arrange a marriage that will bring her family money, although she is not overly cooperative. I wouldn’t either. Not in this day and age.
Great book. Lots of twists, angst, and war to keep you flipping page after page.

Heart stopping for sure. Sylvia Black continues to draw you into the world of the Masters of the Consulate in book nine. Sheba is a traitor after being one of the most trusted allies but so much more awaits. Dual perspectives of Master Botosoni and Catina. This series each book is a guaranteed happy ever after, but this one made my heart stop in fear when the lack of communications almost took away everything. Master Botosoni is stunned learning Sheba has turned and is in the forest nearby, at the base of the Carpathian Mountain range. The very lands that each faction of the underworld fights for with their blood claiming it as their land. All for the secrets hidden within. Catina is the only daughter in a traveler family. Deemed too old to marry off at twenty-one her family try to sell her with her virginity as the big draw. Botosoni is told by many of the Lords in his region to visit her, let her do a reading for him she is good and can help him in the hunt for the rogues and shifters, Sheba included. Master Botosoni has a lead to the rogue elements trying to bring down the Consulate but can he follow the rules and stay away from her or is the attraction too much for him to resist.
Catina has visions of where the shifter den is but when she is enlisted by the consulate to find the rogue Vampires and shifters but when her vision leads her into danger can she get out in time or is her fate sealed.
This is the ninth in the series and they just get better with each instalment. The chemistry between Catina and Master Botosoni is off the chart and I always love the loyalty these alpha man have to the charges they have, it is just brilliant to read. Although these are relative short stories they definitely pack a punch and leave you wanting more and more.
I can’t wait to see who the next Master’s story will be and get closer to them getting rid of the rogue elements.

Master Botosoni is the ninth book in the Masters of the Consulate series by Sylvia Black. It is a captivating dark paranormal romance with an underworld society/vampire mafia, enemies to lovers, rogue vampire faction, shifters, witches, psychics, pure bloods, politics, magic, agendas, fated mates, age gap, danger, drama, high stakes, chemistry, sizzle, emotion, action, loyalty, bonds, mysteriousness, intrigue, tension, emotion, and a centuries-old feud/war. The story is told from a duel POV- which gave me a much richer perspective and added extra depth and interest to my reading experience. This is Master Botosoni and Catina’s story- which grabbed me right from the beginning and held my attention the entire way through. There was no putting the book down, with all the ingredients of a dark, tense romantic suspense- I really had to know what would happen, so I ended up staying up well past my bedtime and read it all in one sitting. #sleepisoverratedright This could be read as a standalone as each book in the series focuses on its own separate character/s, but I highly recommend reading the other books in the series before beginning this one, as there are many interconnected details and recurring characters that span the series- including a bridging background story that’s being built/expanded with each new addition- so I really recommend reading from the beginning, so you know what’s happened right from the start. Catina is a Romanian psychic stuck in the strict old ways of her people. At only 21 years old she is considered old to not be married by now. Her abusive parents and brothers are trying to sell her. She wants to escape and marry for love but is stricken by her loyalty to family.
Master Botosoni decides to hire Catina’s service to help find more information on the rogue vampires. After having a vision, she collapses and Botosoni decides that she has seen something pertinent to their mission and brings her to his estate.
Instantly there is chemistry between the two, but Catina is pure. She knows her family would see her as a disgrace just by being in the vampire master’s home, let alone have a relationship of any kind with him. She plans on helping the Masters find the rogues and then go home. As time goes on, the tension gets stronger and she has to make a decision. Stay with the family who has abused her for years or abandon all she knows and stay with Botosoni.
Meanwhile Botosoni wants Catina to be his but has trust issues with women in general. Can they put their hang ups aside and become mates like destiny wants?
I have been invested in this series since almost the very beginning and for good reason. Each story is a different Vampire finding his mate and each couple is different than the previous. After 9 books in the series, the author is still going strong. The subplot is always full of mystery and action while the main plot is always romantic and sometimes steamy.

Going into this book I wish I would of read the others. I know it says standalone but I feel like I would of benefited from reading the ones before it. However that being said this was an action packed paranormal Romance. I am a sucker for anything vamp related. We have Master Botonsoni and we are in the middle of a fight with rogue vamps. Sylvia, Sylvia, Sylvia, just when I think you have reached the bar you go and reset it and then I have a new favourite book in this series making me feel disloyal as I love all the Masters. It is another titillating dark paranormal, fated mates, enemies to lovers, age-gap, vampire mafia romance tale. I have been with this series from the beginning and Sylvia knows how to write an epic dark paranormal tale that you are unable to put down once you start. I am always instantly lost in the story and to the beauty of the harsh world that Sylvia created. Master Botosoni is the explosive ninth book in this series. Masters of the Consulate is one of my favourite series and I was left anticipating the arrival of the next book. Just as well that fabulously dark and deliciously deadly Master Botosoni came along at the right time. The master’s and fated ones join Master Botosoni as he enlists the help of a psychic to help them find what they need. Master Botosoni soon learns she is much more than he anticipated, and fate always gets her way. I love that these men are fiercely loyal and will protect what is theirs no matter the cost. This riveting fast paced tale is intense, full of suspense, danger, and is steaming hot. What is better than super sexy alpha vampires who are vicious and love fiercely, along with psychics, and a host of other paranormal beings. In a place where there is old world factions there is greed and revenge, secret agendas, politics and so much more.
Can the Masters get what they need before they are thrust into a major war and friends and allies turn to foes. I wonder which Master comes next. I can’t wait.

Book 9 and this series just keeps getting better and better. While each story is able to be read as a standalone, I would recommend starting at the beginning to see the progression of the story and the battle that is being waged. We see the pureblood vampires are getting closer and closer to taking out the rogues as their journey continues all over Italy. They end up in Master Botosoni’s territory and as he goes looking for clues, he is pointed in the direction of Catina, a fortune teller with a complicated family life. The attraction between the vampire master and the innocent psychic is electric and they are both unable to fight the attraction. The author does a great job of making each story and romance feel fresh, while still bringing in characters from the previous novels to keep the storyline moving forward with the war between the purebloods and the rogues. I am definitely excited to see the next book and how this story ends in the future books!

This is the 2nd book in the ‘War of Destiny’ series by Teresa Van Spankeren and takes place 70 years after the first book, in the late 16th century. You can read it as a stand-alone book, but you will get more understanding of the characters if you read the first book, Lost Souls. Julia and Adam are living peacefully with the other members of the group (ka-tet) that form part of the Resistance in London. She is learning how to use her new abilities and fighting skills to take on the vampire Valentino when the time is right. Unfortunately, Valentino arrives in England, bringing matters to a head and forcing the hand of the Resistance, leading to tragedy. Once again Julia suffers confusion when she hears a dark voice in her head and cannot trust what is real, concluding with her making decisions that will have far-reaching consequences. The writing hits its stride in this book with the story flowing well for the most part. There is one section where the change seems to come out of nowhere, but makes sense for the story in the end. The characters in the book are well-rounded and developed, with an emotional depth. I wonder how the group will be able to continue on, but I guess I will see in the next book.

I absolutely enjoyed reading the book. I had not read book 1, but I felt the author was able to recap book 1 without it feeling like it was being repetitive of book 1. I thought this was an interesting take on the vampire world and the author did a great job of making you feel like you are transported back in time to the 16th century England. This was a wonderful story full of friendships, romance, intrigue, and action. I thought that the author had a unique voice and the story was well written, with well-rounded characters and detailed descriptions. I definitely enjoyed seeing the relationship between Julie and Samuel progress and change as he works with her to prepare for a battle she isn’t ready for. Julie is an interesting protagonist and I enjoyed seeing how her character develops. I can’t wait to check out book 3 to see what happens next.

This is the 9th book in the Masters of the Consulate series. They can be read as a standalone however I personally suggest reading them from then beginning so high you can full understand the story and the fight between the vampires and the rogues. Even though we are 9 books in the story still feels fresh and new as we meet a different Master and learn about them and their area and of course find love when they least expect it.
In this story we meet Master Bostosoni and Catina. They meet because Catina is a psychic and Bostosoni hopes she can help him and the other masters in the search for the rogues. What he doesn’t expect is the sudden overwhelming urge he has to protect her at all cost. When a vision that she doesn’t disclose to Bostosoni comes true there are seconds left to save her. Will Catina want to follow the strict rules she has been forced to live by her entire life or will she choose a life of freedom and immortality with Bostosoni.
These book are amazing while you always have the background of the fight and war raging between the Masters, rougues, shifter and witches, you always have to romance element in the case of strong protective vampire and the woman he fells for. Their connection and the bond is so powerful that you can’t help but be captivated by their story and drawn into their romance. I’m so excited to see what happens next.

This book was ok for me. It was easy to follow along and the characters worked well. I found some of the story predictable which is fine. I think for readers invested in this series they would appreciate it. I do like this author.

I am completely hooked on this series. It just keeps getting better and better. I can’t believe we are 9 books in and there is still one more to go!! Bring it on I say!! If you haven’t read the other books of the series you could still read this book and I am sure you would love it BUT the experience is definitely enhanced by having the background knowledge from the other books of the series so just do yourself a huge favour and dive into the series right from the start. I don’t want to give too much away in terms of the storyline so I will just say that Catinas powerful visions will end up being key in helping Master Botosoni and the other masters track down the rouges and shifters etc and make steps towards finally bringing them down. I really loved Master B and Catina….Now bring on book 10!

This is my first time reading this author’s work and I was not disappointed. The storyline draws you in but all of the twists and turns make this book hard to put down. Even with this book being the second in the series, it can easily be read as a stand-alone. I plan to go back and read book one. I recommend this book.

This was a good book and I am glad I picked this one up! This is the second book in the series and to get the best reading experience, this series should be read in order. The next book in one of my favorite series is here. One can’t go wrong with The Masters of the Consulate Series. But be warned if you haven’t started with book 1, Master njDescallia you really need to start there to work your way to this one. Master Botosoni is the next master to drop in the series. Meaning to find his mate, when he wasn’t looking for her. This book is a dark romance along with the continuing battle that has stretched across all books. The rogues want the Masters disbanded, and even more so Master Descallia and his mate Lucianna gone. Now that the rogues have crossed into Master Botosoni’s territory, it’s time for him to get involved as well as take point on the mission to stop them. However in the quest it takes him into a coffee shop to a psychic who is destined to change his life. Catina is trying to get by, despite how her family views and treats her. Never is her wildest dreams did she expect to catch the eye of Master Botosoni. Unfortunately it could ruin everything for her with her family, especially now that her psychic ability has thrown her in the middle of an upcoming war. Will they last? How are things looking with the war coming? So many questions and answers, that I don’t know if they would be enough to satisfy you or not. I’m satisfied though since it ended. Impending devastation and death. Book two in the War of Destiny series starts off roughly eighty years after the events of book one. Some positives are that Julia has Adam at her side and somewhere over time she has just stopped existing and started too truly live again. 1582, back in London and enjoying a peaceful life when one dream, to meet Queen Elizabeth, comes true but everything changes in the same night. Events set into motion that can’t be undone or deterred. A strange dream, a ten-year-old girl and “tarot” cards tells Julia her future, one filled with loss, evil, death, sacrifice, and betrayal. Unsure of what the meaning is more strange things begin starting with a nap. Can Julia decipher the strange future she was told in time? Betrayal is coming but from who? While this is the second book, I understand how it could be a standalone if starting with this book. That said I feel that it would be like starting a movie forty-five minutes in without context or background on what led to the events or the significance of the situations. Such as Julia finally having Adam at her side or who Marie was to Julia. The continued growth of Julia in discovering herself more and evolving with everything she faces and overcomes. I cannot wait to start book three, Between Darkness and Light. I devoured the first two books in just a few days, once I started, I couldn’t stop.

Heavy emotional rollercoaster. While I have seen Theresa’s books over time while working at a library, I hadn’t previously given them a read until now. One of my new years resolutions was to read books by as many new authors as I could, and this series always looked interesting. I must say I was not prepared for the deep emotions that I would be taken for a ride with, but the book had me holding my breath from start to finish praying Julia could get a win. Julia is in modern day London but as she writes her biography, we are taken on the journey of who Julia is and how she came to this point. She is over half a century old, and a combination of things has her getting flashbacks to her past life, her human life. The only way to be rid of the flashbacks is to confront them and discover what the importance is in them. 1492, Julia was born and while her childhood was mostly wonderful considering nothing prepared her for what was to come after overhearing her father and brother speaking when she was eleven. At fifteen she was to marry Gregory Smith, a man wealthier than her own father had asked for her hand and while it was not the man, she wanted to marry her father accepted for her and that was final. All Julia ever wanted was to have the power to make her own decisions about her own life. To have control. Immediately her younger sister informs her of the uneasy feelings she gets around Gregory and the urge to flee from the room he enters, but it’s too late she has no choice but to marry him. Crystal, her sister, warns her to be careful. What follows the marriage and in the first two years is heartbreaking, not only what Julia experiences at the hands of her husband but of her own father. Will Julia find an escape? Can she have a happy moment that’s not tainted with painful consequences? The world the author builds is based off history, the times in which the story takes place are accurate which makes reading it so much more painful as some today still deal with similar situations. The characters have immense strength and fight to overcome all that they are faced with. Finding one thing to fight for to keep her going. I have found a new author and series to follow and now off to book two, Pursuit into Darkness to see what happens next for Julia.

I was so excited to get my hands on another book in this series and could not wait to start reading it! Even though we are nine books in, this series still feels fresh, unique and like it is getting better with each book released. As I expected, I was pulled straight into this story and it was the kind of book I had to read all in one sitting. I took me no time at all to get through it because the story was so incredible. I loved the characters in this book. I think these ones have got to be some of my favourite of the series, although it really is hard to pick between them all. I just seemed to connect with them instantly, which made the story even better. I love the feel of these books and the tone the author has achieved. This is another fantastic story in the series and I hope it continues for a long time to come!

This is book nine of this series. It can be read as a stand alone but I highly suggest reading all of the previous books in this series. It will help you with your enjoyment of this series as well as this author’s writing skills. I have enjoyed reading this series from the beginning. Each one keeps getting better and better. This book is no different. It is a well written story about what happens when a vision leads to villains and not only villains but destiny steps in to put two people together. Are they mates and what does destiny have in store for these two. This is a dark romance story with vampires and steamy characters. I enjoyed how the characters pulled me into their world. They kept me turning pages fast and had me engaged to the end. They are strong, relatable characters that have great chemistry and attraction is off the charts. Their story is fast paced and hard to put down. I really enjoy reading this series and this book is one of my favorites. I highly recommend this book.

This has been a fascinating series. This is book 9 of the series. It is definitely “read in order.” Master Botosoni is on a mission with the others to stop the rogue vampires, shifters and witches. With the help of Catina and her gift of sight and her role in everything, some major changes are made. There are some twists that I couldn’t see coming. I love following this series. It’s also fun because as the books go on, most of the team comes back to help with the war. I do think at times there are some spots that get a little dry but that’s where the author throws in a twist. Considering the big twist at the end, I’m looking forward to the next book. I can’t wait for book 10 to come out and see where the next Master leads us.

5 Stars Pursuit into Darkness (War of Destiny Series Book 2) by Theresa Van Spankeren
Pursuit into Darkness is the second book in the War of Destiny Series and is a Paranormal/ Vampire/ Fantasy story that will have you turning the pages till the end. This takes place many years after the first book. The twists and turns had me turning the pages trying to figure out what was going to happen next. The characters are well developed and well written. There’s plenty of action and it plays with your emotions and so much more. I don’t want to give away anything. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. I look forward to reading more from this Author.

This is book two of the series. I really enjoyed this book. I was hooked from the beginning! Questions I had from the first book were answered in this one. We continue to follow Julia through heartbreak and tragedy. I definitely recommend this book!

I was not sure what to expect out of this book, but I ended up really enjoying it! I was drawn into this book and it felt like I was right beside Julia and was going through the exact same things. I definitely recommend this book!
