Whisper Creek: A Logan McKenna Mystery Book 7 by Valerie Davisson – Review by Shea Gilkerson
Whisper Creek by Valerie Davisson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Whisper Creek kept me interested from the start. In the first few chapters alone, you discover our heroine, Logan McKenna has gotten engaged to her love, Ben, AND had a large amount earned from a video a former student uploaded of her playing her violin and uploaded to YouTube.
This would be plenty of excitement in most peoples lives, but this book is so well written and has so much happening that you forget about these pieces of news until the author reminds you of them.
When Logan goes to The New School to check on the program she initiated, The Fractals. The New School is nestled in the Oregon forests and is run differently than most schools. The staff lives in cabins on the grounds, the kitchen grows food on the grounds, as well as keeping chickens. Everyone is very invested in the school thriving, and everyone you meet are such strong individuals in their own ways.
When the evening of the staff talent show ends with Logan finding the body of a stepmother of one of the students, things start happening very fast. Who is she, really? Why would someone want to kill her? As the story progresses, you find there may be more people who would like to see her gone than it originally appeared.
When the police find multiple suspects that have their own motives, this case becomes much less open and shut than it seemed at first! Will Logan be able to get answers to protect their student? Will she be able to help fill in some gaps?
Vanessa Davisson keeps you right where she wants you until she is ready to make the big reveal. This is the first book of hers I have read, and can’t wait to read more! If you like mystery and thrillers, read this book!
