Just when you *think* you have it figured it out, she throws a wrench in your theory and goes “Just kidding!!!! This book kept me up into the wee hours of the night and I just had to keep reading more!!! I can’t wait to read the next book and see what happens! Reader beware! That cliffhanger will spartan kick you off the ledge before you even realize what happened!

Wow, just wow! Why We Don’t Die in Dreams: Book 1 by Debbie Zello was amazing. I couldn’t put the book down and found myself waking in the middle of the night to read. The book follows Gavin McLean and the constant nightmares of a serial killer. Debbie Zello combines crime and supernatural seamlessly. I loved the character development with each passing chapter that you instantly knew where Gavin was. She ends the book with a shock. I promise, you will not be disappointed with this book. I cannot wait to read the second book! Great job!

Why We Don’t Die In Dreams is an exciting thriller by Debbie Zello, focusing around a detective who’s dreams seem to be giving him clues about a serial killer. It is the first in a series, leaving some mysteries to be answered in the next book.
This book is an erotic thriller, and the protagonist Gavin definitely spends a lot of time fantasising about (and, occasionally, sleeping with) women. Personally I didn’t feel like I needed a description of every female characters’ boobs but I do get that, in a story told from Gavin’s perspective, that was a detail he would consistently pick up on. With the killer’s approaches seemingly S&M-adjacent, Gavin and his partner Lou investigate the local S&M scene which is approached sensitively and positively.
My favourite characters include Jules, Gavin’s long-term friend-with-benefits who outlines the unfair differences in expectations of men and women in her kind of work, and Josie, the “twenty-year-old stuck in a sixty-year-old’s body” who runs the bar Gavin frequents.
For me, this is a four-star book. I’d recommend it to people who enjoy getting their teeth into a good, weird mystery and are into reading erotica. It’s a page-turner that will occupy your brain until you’ve finished it (and a good while after…)

Why We Don’t Die in Dreams by Debbie Zello is a thrill ride! Gavin McLean is a homicide detective who is awesome at what he does, but struggles in his life after work hours. One thing in particular, he has this recurring dream involving a naked woman being held captive with her arms on meat hooks, and all he can see of her is her backside. He really is a well-written character that you can’t help but root for. The author keeps the pages turning with each and every thrill – and includes some steamy scenes. I had no problem being sucked into this story and recommend it with five enthusiastic stars. This book keeps you guessing, but doesn’t leave you underwhelmed, either. I jumped at the paranormal theme, but figured the erotica would lessen the writing – not so. Everything about this book works together to make one great read!

Gavin McLean is a good man and is in a bit of a dilemma at the moment. There some bad omens really following him around. I actually enjoyed reading this book more than I though I would. Poor Gavin has met all these women. This book is not suitable for a younger audience I would recommend for a mature reader. This has been a very intruding read and those dreams are written amazingly. How can a dream leave you like this and are these two merging together.

What an intriguing book! What is reality? Which is the dream? Gavin is a very interesting character. A cop with heart and a very interesting personality. Lou, Gavin’s new partner, is an intriguing woman that excites Gavin in more ways that one, is smart and shows how she can go with the big guys. I literally could not stop reading once I started. I was pulled into the story and wanted to figure out if this was a dream or reality. The plot was exciting, with its twists and turns. These a bit of spice spattered throughout to heat up the action. For 18+. Strongly recommend.

Why We Don’t Die in Dreams was a wild journey from start to finish. I honestly could not put it down. So many twists and turns that it got me hooked first thing.

The main character, Gavin, is having these strange dreams about a woman who always says something along the lines of “he killed her, don’t let him kill me.” Gavin thinks they are strange but thinks nothing of them at first. As time goes on, a woman is found dead in a dumpster. Gavin realizes that maybe his dreams are more than that. You then follow Gavin all over the place to find out what is real and what is not.

The author, Debbie Zello, did an amazing job with this book. With so many twists and turns you would think she had trouble keeping track but it was flawless. The transitions were really smooth. I loved the way Debbie wrote Gavin. Handsome, fit, witty, sarcastic but still a flawed gentleman. I fell in love with him instantly.

The only thing I did not enjoy was the book ending. I must read more!!

Why We Don’t Die in Dreams by Debbie Zello is a page turner that keeps you guessing every step of the way. Just when I thought I figured something out, it twisted and I was wrong! I was quickly sucked into it, and I was kept that way the entire time. I love books that make it hard to figure things out, it can be really hard to do. But Debbie Zello does an excellent job of keeping your guessing and guessing wrong. I think everyone would enjoy this book! I can’t wait to read the next part!

Why we don’t die in dreams by Debbie Zello a fantastic five-star read. This was so good, but I need number two right this moment, there are so many things I want to say about this story, but I do not dare as, I don’t want to ruin the story, it’s a powerful twisty story that will keep you on your toes. There are details in this story, that will shock some, and had me stopping at times, but it’s so very good that you do keep going and going until the last page where you are left wondering. Do not miss this great story, and the one that better follow.

What the heck. Wow-what a page-turning thriller! I don’t usually crime books but sprinkle some romance and a super good-looking detective and I’m hooked. Not to give away the book but the first change messed me up, I haven’t stopped reading and gone to bed mad since the last Harry Potter book when I was a kid. I came back to the book the following night and I’m so glad I did but I was kept on my toes, to say the least. The characters were beautifully presented and described. I can’t wait to read the second book I hope the author keeps writing more of this story.

Wow what can I say about this book. It is an amazing read. I loved the characters of Lou and Gavin. Their relationship and whit really brings the story to life. Some parts of this book were hard to read as descriptions of the crime scenes were graphic so I can completely understand why the author says it is to be read by adults 18+. However for me this wasn’t a problem and really just helped me feel like I was living the story.

Gavin is a detective. He’s loves his job and after he got his heart broken he shuts himself off from romance and focuses on his job.
His new case starts when a woman turns up dead in a dumpster. Also Gavin is plagued by dreams at night. Its a women begging him to save her and counting every new case (woman thats murdered). How are these cases and his dreams connected? Is it coincidence? Gavin started to think so until he realised that all the women that have been murdered have 1 connection. Him.

Can Gavin and Lou solve this before the murderer strikes again? Who is the killer and why are they targeting the women Gavin has contact with?
This book will really blow your mind and grip you from beginning to end.

Debbie Zello messes with your mind in the story of “Why We Don’t Die in Dreams”. This is a paranormal/erotica genre read that is thrilling, sexy, and crazy. The story starts with a man by the name of Gavin McLean who is a detective in Boston. His partner Lou (female) becomes his go to, number one, all while he is struggling with very weird, descriptive, life-like dreams about women being killed. The kicker is that he is not the only one, but what does that mean? As I read it, I loved his character traits of being pompous, but sweet, self-centered, but caring of others, all at the same time. However, through the journey there were times where I was completely confused; there are a couple changes of events that happen without warning and you are saying “WTF I need to go back and read that again because I missed something”. Once you got over the shock of the changing events, the story got more and more interesting, but you have to be into erotic, craziness to enjoy – which I am!! I am looking forward to reading the second book in the series.

This book is insanely amazing, I was not expecting the journey it takes you on. It is like a cross over between law and order and fifty shades.
Detective Gavin McLead works in homicide and he is investigating the brutal murders of women left in dumpsters, But what is strange is that Gavin starts to dream about these murders before they happen. I was trying to figure out what was happening right along with Gavin.
It is so well written and I cant wait for book 2.

Debbie has always been an avid reader, but writing never occurred to her. That was until an illness gave her the time and inspiration needed to begin her journey in words. After writing down a few chapters of a story that had whispered into her head, she gave it to a few friends to read. The rest became her first book, The Kiss Me Chronicles.

Debbie freely credits her stories to her muses, the characters themselves. They occupy her thoughts and dreams, presenting her with their narratives on their lives and loves. On occasion, she has tried to put her own take on their story, only to be quickly corrected by the true authors.

Debbie has traveled extensively and has a deep love of American history. Her novels are often based on historical events as well as places she has visited. She is also an amateur genealogist, having traced her own family roots.

Debbie currently has sixteen published books with many more in various stages of production. She has finished her tetralogy of ‘what or where is your safe place.’ She has also branched out of the romance/historical romance genre to include a teenage appropriate story based on Dorothy’s (The Wizard of Oz) great-granddaughter, Dee, and her shoes titled, The Wonderfully Ugly Traveling Shoes. Hopefully, Dee won’t leave Debbie in some far off time or place.

Mercy: the deadliest Sin (Why we don’t Die in Dreams #2) by Debbie Zello – Review by Jenni Bishop

Mercy: the deadliest Sin (Why we don't Die in Dreams #2)Mercy: the deadliest Sin by Debbie Zello
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Mercy: the deadliest Sin is the second book in the Why we don’t Die in Dreams series by Debbie Zello and is a continuation from the first book and not a standalone. Debbie is a very clever writer in the way she has written this dark and twisted tale of a being who has no conscious. A creature you can only hear about in nightmares. Something you wouldn’t wish on your worst enemy. Something so heinous that you just can’t stop reading about. There are a lot of twists and turns that but boy did Debbie twist it all up and deliver and ending I. Did. Not. See. Coming!

I recommend reading this story but beware you will be on the edge of your seat and hiding behind your hands.

Why we don’t die in Dreams by Debbie Zello is a suspense, thriller and one story that will leave you wondering just what is going on as there are as many twists and turns as there is in a rollercoaster ride. Debbie has written a story that is wonderfully put together and the plot is just so clever and so different to anything I have read before, just when you thought you had a grasp on the story line you were suddenly thrust somewhere else. This is one book that will have your attention from page one because you will be left behind. I had to read it in one go because I just had to know what was coming next. This book has a little something for everyone, there is murder, mystery and intrigue. You will love the main character who had me laughing out loud at times and at others I felt all the emotions he was going through.

Unfortunately it ends with a cliffhanger so I am trying to patiently wait to read the next installment.

This story engaged and intrigued and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. Definitely a five star plus read.
