Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana was a quick interesting read that kept me reading, and engaged.

Not my first read by this author so I was excited to get my hands on it. As a fan of greek mythology, this sparked my interest right away. In regards to story flow and plot it was pretty okay, I love it, and overall I did enjoy this book. But there are somethings that bothered me and frankly speaking, I’m not sure if this should have been a YA, I think the material would have worked better with an older MC.

Lets start with what bothered me the most, this book follows a very standard YA format, and I was surprise really, because this authors other works, I have read, were anything but standard. There was a bit of a dark humour thing going on, that for me missed the mark a little bit, as she rationalized murder a little too well, for someone of that age. Like I’m not complaining about her conclusion, cause frankly speaking I would have come to the same one, but it was just the nonchalant way she wen about it, and her best friend’s easy acceptance that got me. It was just, a little too farfetched you could say.

Other then that, I did have a good time reading this book. I like the original concept, and I did like the MC’s witty personality. There as just something about her that was eye catching and made up for the other indiscretions. This is a fairly quick read, so the story line moves quite fast, so I can see why things were done the way they were.

So please take my high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that if you’re looking for a fast fun read, with a little bit of star crossed romance, a touch of darkness, a good old fashion kidnapping, and some enemy turned friends/lovers, then this read is for you.

Happy Reading

Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana is an exciting and unique story that will have you hooked from the word go.
This is an author that I have become familiar over the past year or so and not once has a book of hers been disappointing. So when I saw this book I knew that I had to get it immediately. I loved how the author took a well-known Greek mythology story and created her own version entirely. It didn’t feel forced or like she was just regurgitating the old story.
The characters were great. I know from the moment I read the description that this was a couple I would be rooting for. You could really see the full development of their relationship and it was lovely to watch unfold.
I very much enjoyed this book and Claire Luana is becoming one of my must read authors.

The story Orion’s Kiss by Claire Luana is a YA/fantasy book. I found it hard to put down once I started. It is both interesting and entertaining. The story includes mythology and romance. I love books that include the paranormal and this story is a good example of why. I loved reading about the characters of Merope and Orion. Merope is a young girl who wants to avert disaster. She is forced to watch as her sisters die lifetime after lifetime and feels the pain over an over again. Orion is the one that commits the acts that Merope is trying to stop from happening. When a twist of fate occurs, it has Merope and Orion wondering if they can break the curse this lifetime. What does the future hold for Merope and Orion? Read this book to find out. I grew to care about Orion and Merope with each chapter that I read and wanted them to find success and happiness. Merope is a character that I had empathy for. There is an attraction between Merope and Orion. The story includes action scenes and times when you wonder what will happen next. This is a book that will hook you in from the very beginning and keep your interest until the final page. Highly recommended.

I loved this book and the journey through Greek Mythology that it took me on. A story that I couldn’t put down until the end. It is creative with well developed characters that made the story seem real. Merope has a curse that she is determined to break but until she does she has to live life over and over again. In order for her to break it, she needs to kill Orin but does she have it in her? I highly recommend her story, a must read to find out if Merope will finally break her curse.

Merope is forced to watch as her sisters die lifetime after lifetime. In his anger at their ancient rebuke, Zeus cursed the seven Pleiades sisters—six to die, and Merope, the youngest, to give witness. Through many centuries and lives, Merope has tried everything to avert disaster, but she has always failed.

For his crimes against the gods, Orion is cursed to commit the unspeakable acts Merope tries so hard to prevent. Orion has little hope against the power of the gods—he is resigned that this cruel sentence will be his eternity.

Until an unexpected twist of fate shows them both that this lifetime could be different. And that together, they may harness a force powerful enough to break the chains of destiny that bind them once and for all.

Claire Luana grew up in Seattle reading everything she could get her hands on and writing every chance she could. Eventually, adulthood won out, and she turned her writing talents to more scholarly pursuits, going to work as a commercial litigation attorney. While continuing to practice law, Claire decided to return to her roots and try her hand once again at creative writing. She has written and published three fantasy series: the Moonburner Cycle, the Confectioner Chronicles, the Knights of Caerleon, co-written with Jesikah Sundin, and The Faerie Race trilogy, co-written with J.A. Armitage.

She lives in Seattle, Washington with her husband and two dogs. In her (little) remaining spare time, she loves to hike, travel, binge-watch CW shows, and of course, fall into a good book.
