My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Gill is extremely gifted and has created a universe that YA fantasy dystopian readers will find thoroughly enjoyable. This second book in the series continues a tale I found incredibly spellbinding and lives up to its predecessor. Literally everything about this book is gold and I can not recommend it highly enough. Fantasy lovers – this is a must read!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The more I read Tricia Copeland, the more she’s becoming my favorite author. She has a way of telling stories that capture your imagination or stir deeply within you. This science fiction read is no different.
In this read, that’s completely different from any other books by the same author, we find 16-yr-old Jema, a teen fugitive marked runaway who exposed a DNA based deadly virus, she and her allies are being hunted by her menacing uncle. Until she can put pressure on him to release the antidote, the world will be at risk.
Subjected to fighting like soldiers in a desert island, Jema seeks out those who’ll take pity on the group in an effort to help them but their supplies are being depleted at every turn for the teen and her allies, it’s a fatal trek to escape.
Can Jema heal the public territory before the world sinks into the abyss?
Great read again from Tricia Copeland as it’s full of action, bravery, and time-pacing to surely have your heart racing!

Arrows Tipped with Honey (Natural Forces #2)Arrows Tipped with Honey by Jean Gill
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this unlikely action-packed book, we find a team of over 50,000 bees with four friends who must save the world.
Assisted by her three brilliant friends, Mieletta, monarch leader of the bees, must shatter the blockade as they advance from the Forest to the Citadel to build a more superior society. However, in the Citadel, she’s still seen as an atypical and defector. The assembly constructs a person skilled in using supernatural forces, fragmenting the blood pledge tying them to the blood pledge with Mieletta as they search to dismantle her. While she conjectures her authority in the Forest, her aspirations befall on one man, inside the Citadel.
Confined in a community where he detests and is frightened by Mage Smith Kernon’s operation becomes a test to withstand. Can he remain tried and true to Mieletta while being a two-faced counterspy in the Citadel? He’s quickly entangled in fraud and trickery while pressuring him into taking drastic measures and hesitation to risk it all. Mother Nature is full of surprises as she prevails in this book.
This is a beautiful read from cover to cover. Very enjoyable read! This is a beautiful read full of great surprises and action. Very inspirational story. You’ll love this one!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Torch by Tricia Copeland is the second book in the Lovelock series I would recommend reading this series in order as it continues on from book one, with the same characters and story line.
This book is a fantastic follow up to book one. I was transported back into Jema’s world so quickly and easily. This book was as exciting and fast paced as the first one. I couldn’t wait to find out what was going to happen.
If you are a fan of this genre then I would definitely recommend you try this series. It is well written, exciting and have characters that are so easy to get behind. I am enjoying this very much and can’t wait to see what else might be to come.

Finding Leda; the Science of Happiness (Italian College Novel 1, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman – Review by Sara Oxton

Finding Leda, the Science of Happiness (The Italian Saga #5)Finding Leda, the Science of Happiness by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finding Leda by Gaia B. Amman a four-star read that you will find easy to read. This is number five in the Italian Saga and number one in the Italian Teen series, but I will be honest I haven’t read them in any real order and I have enjoyed it like that as its like dipping in and out of someone’s life at different times, so its great when I feel like reliving my younger self I can dip in here and see it through someone else’s eyes and almost see where I went wrong and right. In some ways these novel feel like growing up with a friend, and reading them is like chatting about old times, and like some friends they tell a good story at the start and the end but in the middle they get a little wanderlust and drift a bit but manage to pull it back in to get it all back again.

Torch by Tricia Copeland a four-star read that will shine a light for you. This is the second story in the Lovelock YA Dystopian science fiction series and it picks up after the first so its likely best you read them in order I have and I enjoyed them both that way. This was startling real at the moment as the first story revels a world after a flu wipes out most of the population and now its back, this story is about how the powerful few control how they cope with this second wave and how power controls. Jema is a great character and she will take you on a rollercoaster of a ride that will have you clinging to the story by you fingertips.

I just love dystopian stories. Torch (Lovelock Book 2) by Tricia Copeland did not disappoint. It’s geared towards the young adult crowd but adults will enjoy this one too. I loved the story, the characters and the great world the author has set up for us. I got a little bogged down in the preparation details but hey I am old. Folks that are really into dystopian novels and survivor type details are really going to love this one. This one is book 2 and I for sure will be reading book 3. Cause you know, I gotta know.

4 Stars!!!!

The Queen of the Bees is back and there is more to the adventure. I like how the author has built quite the complex world with the Citadel and the Forest. I was drawn back into the world with the battle that is still going on even though they think the war is over. I couldn’t put the book down.

I really felt that the drama in this book keeps one glued to it. With Kermon staying in the Citadel to try and keep his mission and inevitably having to battle demons. This book just really brings the world the author has created even more vividly to life and I for one thought the balance of drama was just right. I really enjoyed getting more informed about the forest and seeing also more of the citadel. I like how the author begins to weave in the threads of the forest again to the Citadel unbeknownst to all. I can see how this series is evolving and I am very much eager to see how it will all unfold. I definitely cannot wait to read more from this author and this series.

5 out of 5 stars

The story Torch (Lovelock Book 2) by Tricia Copeland is a YA/Dystopian book that I loved reading. It is a story that had me hooked from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is a story that includes danger, secrets, action, and wonderful characters that I couldn’t help but root for their success. I love the character of Jema. She is a young girl who is feisty, strong, and independent. She has been branded as a traitor. Who can she trust? Can she get the cure for a lethal contagion to be released? This is a fast-paced story that I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Jema is a character that has a fierce determination. Many other characters interact with Jema and I enjoyed reading about. They are helpful to her. Then some only look after themselves and have their own agenda. The story is written in such a way that I felt like I was right there with Jema. I also found my emotions going up and down through the book. Don’t miss out on a story that I found entertaining and full of twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. I highly recommend reading it.

I enjoyed the new read by Gaia B Amman, having followed Leda through her formative years it was nice to see her moving on in life and what she did. As with previous books Leda’s life isn’t always straight forward and she had a few obstacles in her life to tackle. Again as with the other books by this author the Italian setting for the story was great, I was immersed in the culture that I have begun to love in the other books. The author clearly has taken her time with Leda’s character development and that shines through in the books. A great read and as always I look forward to more from Ms Amman in the future.

Sex-O-S
The Tragicomic Adventure
of an Italian Surviving the First Time
By Gaia B Amman
☆☆☆☆
This could probably be the best YA story for teens and their raging hormones.
Leda and Nico are the best of the best friends. She is the Tomboy and he is the bad boy. But is he really a bad boy? Is she really a tomboy? These teens are about to find out! This is the best true story about growing through the teen years. You will laugh on one page and cry on the next. At least I did. This story has an Italian twist to it as well. But all things are not the expected fairytale. Getting through those teen years has unanswered questions, unexpected trials and hurt feelings.

Gaia B Amman has researched and wrote this story for the YA teens out in the world. She answers questions that nobody wants. As well as following these young teens as they grow into adults. I love the characters in this story. They just fit! Gaia B Amman has done a great job with this story. Thank you!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (Italian Teens, novel 2, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B. Amman was a beautifully written novel about a crucial moment in Leda’s teenage life. Based in Italy during the 1990’s, the story starts when Leda was 15. She is in a relationship with her best friend Nico. Nico doesn’t have the best track record and everyone sees him as a bad boy, but not Leda. She is crazy about him and claims he has changed for her. Obviously he’s eager to be with her intimately but Leda isn’t sure if she’s ready for her first time. Questions and worry start filling her head.

I truly felt for Leda through this novel, going through teenage years is never easy, especially as a woman. So many questions and uncertainty and then you throw boys into the mix. I loved Leda for her fierce, head strong personality. Even though this novel deals with very real and emotional topics, teenage sex, insecurities, and eating disorders, the author did it in a very tasteful way. I’m sure many teenage girls could see aspects of this novel in their own lives, and they might even learn a thing or two about themselves along the way.

Well I like finding new authors. This is the first book from this author that I have read and it was definitely different and refreshing. I found myself being transported into the main character Lee. I felt as though I was her and all the drama and events were happening to me. I was glued to the pages and couldn’t wait to see what would happen.

I would say that this is a great first person view of being a teenager and the roller coaster of love and relationships. I found that the author made it very insightful. The life of a teenager can be quite complex and this book definitely was a great look into that world. First loves and first relationships can all be very complex and this book brings the reader into that complex emotional time. The drama and complexities of relationships, family and just being a teenager really shine through in this book. I look forward to reading more from this author.

Sex-O-S is the lateset installment in the coming of age story of Leda. I would recommend that you read these books in order for the maximum enjoyment as it shows us with each one a new stage in her life and all the obstacles that come with said age group. I think for me this one was a bit harder to relate to or just to get into in general but I did overall enjoy the story. Maybe for me it was just the age group of her late teens that we get in this one. It is a confusing age and often we traverse some of the most difficult topics at the same time that our bodies go through a major change as well. I like how real and raw things are in these novels and I will be back to see what will come next for Leda as she continues to find her own way in this world and what that may look like for her.

Sex-O-S: The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time by Gaia B Amman is the second book in her Italian Teens series which is part of her The Italian Saga series. Leda has grown up to be an inquisitive and thoughtful later teen in this book. She is now facing questions most female teens go through and with her normal aplomb. Amman hits on some major subjects for ladies this age: sex, abuse, weight, and more with a careful and considerate hand to her writing. Leda is such a relatable character and with her lifelong friend Nico (I think many girls have someone like this) things get incredibly complicated. Will Leda learn to be her own beautiful friend? Read this to find out. This is not necessarily for a young girl to read but I think girls at the age of Leda will be able to relate and realize they are not alone in what they are experiencing and questioning.

Finding Leda, the Science of Happiness (The Italian Saga #5)Finding Leda, the Science of Happiness by Gaia B. Amman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Finding Leda, the Science of Happiness is the fifth book in The Italian Saga by Gaia B. Amman. It is a Young Adult/New Adult story- full of all the highs and lows of Leda’s journey.
We’ve followed Leda through the previous books/stories, and have been there every step of the way as she traverses transitioning from childhood and into a young adult, graduating high school, and now following her through college. Leda throws herself into her studies, discovering much about herself and what she wants out of life along the way.
Even though this story could be read as a standalone- I highly recommend reading the previous books as knowing what happens there will elevate your enjoyment of this story.
This book is full of drama, emotions, college life, Leda’s ‘rules’ to live by, science references, love, humour, pop-culture, self discovery, life lessons, and much more. As with the other books in the series- this is a fictionalized memoir of the author’s younger years/life- set against the backdrop of Italy in the 1990’s/2000’s.
On to the next instalment…

Thank you, Ms. Amman!

Torch (Lovelock Book 2) by Tricia Copeland – Review by Angela Hayes

TorchTorch by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Torch is book two in the Lovelock Series by Tricia Copeland- it’s the intriguing sequel to Lovelock Ones (Book One). This is a very interesting and thought provoking sci-fi, post-apocalyptic/dystopian adventure story with plenty of action, dramatic developments, danger- and more. And I couldn’t help drawing parallels to what’s going on in our world right now.
In Lovelock Ones, the story gave an intriguing look at the world after a flu epidemic wipes out three quarters of the population in less than two years- leaving the remaining population dealing with massive poverty, famine, global warming, government control, factions, DNA testing/typing, and the ever present treat of another epidemic. We met Jema and Troy back in book one and followed them on quite an adventure. Torch sees us joining back up with them to continue the next phase of their adventure.
The virus has reared its ugly head once more. With the cure/vaccine being held back whilst the powers that be battle it out for control. It’s going to be up to Jema and Troy to step up and to save humanity. This is a tense race against time- with the fate of the world riding on the outcome.
Again, the way the story ended left an opening for more stories in the future- I will definitely keep a lookout for one, as well as any future work by Ms. Copeland.
So, if you love a tense, sci fi/dystopian story, with an intriguing storyline and fantastic characters- then this book/series is definitely for you!

Thank you, Ms. Copeland!

In this book Leda and Nico are a little bit older and with that comes more peer pressure. Leda gets more of an understanding as to why Nico is the way he is. Leda finds herself questioning when is a good time to decide to have sex, it seems everyone has a different opinion on this subject. The author did a wonderful job touching on some difficult issues that I thought were handled very well. The things some of these characters go through are a very realistic depiction of what a lot of teens go through. The detail written of different places in Italy they traveled to made me feel like I was there. This book is well written, and I couldn’t help but get invested in these characters. I recommend this book.

Sex-O-S; The Tragicomic Adventure of an Italian Surviving the First Time (Italian Teens, novel 2, The Italian Saga) by Gaia B Amman was amazing. Leda is in her teens and she thinks she is in love with Nico but something happens which causes betrayal and pain. This leaves her with trust issues. She later meets Ange and the two explore new things and a relationship together. Reading how their relationship builds was sweet, frustrating, and at time hilarious. Nico is still on of my ever present on again off again favorites but Ange grew on me. Lena’s teenage experience took me back to my own teenage years. I loved her various reactions and how her friend dynamic changed. She is such an amazing main character. If you haven’t read any of the books in this series I highly recommend it. Wow What a story, I highly recommend if you haven’t already read the previous books in this series to read them as they follow Leda. First off teenage years can honestly suck and you have to make the best of any situation. There’s peer pressure and raging hormones and it’s hard enough adjusting to all the changes a teenager goes through. With that being said I found myself a bit emotional at times with everything Leda was dealing with. She’s in love with Nico who is considered a bad boy. Leda isn’t read to go to all the way, will he wait ? Will she change for him? Find out what happens next in this series absolute must read. I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Arrows Tipped with Honey (Natural Forces Book 2) by Jean Gill – Review by Angela Hayes

Arrows Tipped with Honey (Natural Forces #2)Arrows Tipped with Honey by Jean Gill
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Arrows Tipped With Honey is the second book in the Natural Forces series by Jean Gill. As this is my first read from Ms. Gill, I really didn’t know what to expect from her writing. But the premise intrigued me, as did the cover. So, I took a chance and grabbed myself a copy. I didn’t initially register that this is book two to a continuing series, but a short way into the story I realised- and so I closed and set aside this book while I went back to read book one, first. So, if you haven’t read book one yet, I highly recommend reading that story before embarking on this book. This story continues from book one, so there is a lot of important information, backstory, and character details in the first book- which will enhance your appreciation and enjoyment of this story.
This is a very original and imaginative YA fantasy adventure story- with action, drama, political intrigue, magic, danger, and a little romance. There’s a bit of a dystopian feel to this fantasy- and it’s all brought to life by Ms. Gill’s superb world-building abilities.
It is a wonderfully detailed and descriptive story- so much thought, skill, heart, and soul was put into the creation of this book. Reading was more like ‘watching’ everything unfold, as the imagery was so well crafted. From the characters, to the scenery, and all the other captivating details, I could see and ‘feel’ it all.
There were emotive elements, as well as times when I was held in suspense wondering how things would play out. I read the two books back to back and enjoyed every minute. The ending has me clamouring to get my hands on Book Three ASAP!
Fantastic!

Thank you, Jean Gill!
