The story Fatal Legislation: A Novel: Karina Cardinal Mystery Book 2 by Ellen Butler is a political thriller that I loved reading. It constantly had me on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. I found myself glued to the pages trying to put together the clues. I loved reading about the character of Karina Cardinal. She is a Capitol Hill lobbyist. She is a woman who is intelligent, independent, and strong. She is someone that once she becomes curious about a situation is determined to get to the truth. In this story, what starts as the tragic death of a senator soon turns into an investigation that has her labeled a “person of interest.” Plowing ahead and following clues will Karina find out the truth behind the Senator’s death? She has to play politics and follow the money trail. When that trail leads to more murders the question arises, how much danger is Karina in? Read this book to find out what happens. This story is suspenseful and had me at times holding my breath. I didn’t want to put the book down until I had read the final page. Mike Finnegan is also a wonderful character to read about. He was introduced in the first book in the series and I like that he is now her boyfriend. There are many other characters that you read about. There are those who help Karina and then there are those who have their own agenda and will do anything necessary to make sure that their agenda succeeds. I enjoyed reading about the part that each one plays and also their interactions with Karina. This is the second book in a series and one that I would recommend reading.
