My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book two in “The Order of the Senary” series and it can absolutely be read as a stand-alone. Like the first book in the series, BLACK BULLET starts as if you are jumping into the middle of the story. There are characters and locations that you have to get to know quickly because the story moves along at a great pace.

This is one of those books that, at times, I found myself reading faster and faster just like the scene was progressing. That breathless jogging along because it feels like you are watching a movie feeling. The writing is incredibly visual and gory at times
(there is a scene about a woman dancing with intestines like they were feather boas) – it’s like paranormal and horror all built into one delicious story. The layering of the story enhances the richness in the telling.

I don’t think this is one of those books that you can multitask while reading. I think it deserves 100% of your attention from beginning to end.
