Jake the Growling Dog by Samantha Shannon is a fun book for kids that also has an important meaning to it.
Having a young child it is hard to find books that keeps them entertained and engaged all the way through but this book does a great job of holding their attention. The pictures were bright and colourful but also were too “in your face”. It had my little one flicking through them and laughing at the animals.
She also really enjoyed when I read the book to her. While she is probably a bit young to understand the message she enjoyed the words and how they rhymed.
My only issue was that some of the rhymes felt a bit forced to me, which is probably only so noticeable because I was reading it out loud, and the book felt like it was a couple of pages too long for kids this age. However it was fun, it as enjoyable and my daughter definitely loved it. For that reason alone I would highly recommend this book.
