My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Brass Compass: A Novel by Ellen Butler is a historical novel entering back during the time of World War II. The spin on this novel is the approach the author took with the novel focused on the heroine: Lily St. James. Ellen Butler was very detailed oriented in this story adding the historical elements into the story line that give the story additional depth along with the strong character development. These parts made the story feel so realistic and truly captivating in reading. The suspense and drama were the epitome of what I was looking for in this novel and the author knocked it out effortlessly. Beautifully written, enjoyed this read.
