What a fantastic book! I believe it took me on an emotional journey I wasn’t quite prepared for. Suspense, mystery, tons of character development. I was deeply invested in Prudence and the entire story and found myself laughing and crying throughout. Simply put, Gilmore writes a truly riveting piece that sets up a series that I cannot wait to get in my hands. From first to last page I loved it. Highly recommended.

17 Marigold Lane (Prudence Penderhaus Book 1) by R.M. Gilmore. This is the story of Prudence Penderhaus. Prudence is the freak of Flintock, PA. Prudence is made fun of, laughed at and the butt of all jokes. I found Prudence to be independent, sweet and very caring. I fell in love with Prudence and wanted to be her friend especially after her diagnosis from the doctor. After hearing this news Prudence goes about life differently. Its like she’s had her eyes opened and everything is new and different. When Prudence goes up to the Spook house in town and finds a boy named Cassius “Cass” Shooster that no one knew existed she thinks this boy is her person that she has needed her whole life. Cass is Autistic or “on the spectrum” so he and Prudence relate on a lot of things. Having a friend like Cass can change Prudence’s life. She becomes happier and has more confidence. This is a sweet, emotional story that I loved! Can’t wait til the next book!

Ok, where do I start here? First, amazing story. Seriously, everything that happens in this book had me wanting to be Prudence, even with her own personal hell happening. Second, this book hit me on a personal level. I have a son on the spectrum and my heart broke for this young man we meet. The twists and turns this book takes you on had me hanging on the edge of my seat to see what happened next. I cannot wait for more, and who is moving in?!

17 Marigold Lane is the first book in the Prudence Penderhaus series by R.M Gilmore. This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Gilmore, so I was intrigued to see what I would discover once I opened the cover. This is a bit of an emotional young adult story with lots of mystery, humour, secrets, lies, courage, learning to live in the face of death, the dreaded “C” word, and so much more. I didn’t expect to discover a story with quite as much depth as this has, or one which gave me pause in a thought-provoking way. I thought the author did a really wonderful job of developing and ‘growing’ her characters- they really added an extra element of interest to the whole story. The plot was really well developed too, but I think the story is more character driven, because without these quirky, off-beat, and endearing characters, the story just wouldn’t be the same. Prudence was anything but your typical 17 year-old. She’s socially awkward and bit of an outcast. But things change dramatically when she gets a grim diagnosis. She decides to throw caution to the wind and do the things that she’d always been too afraid to do. Which is where this story really takes off. Add Cassius to the mix, and the plot takes a wonderful turn. Cass is on the Autism/Asperger’s spectrum, but seems to be high functioning. He’s just as socially awkward as she is, and so they are well suited and make a great ‘team’. When mystery arrives, these two take us on an intriguing, and quite touching adventure….. and the story is set to continue in the next book. Although it was a little slow in the beginning, this didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of this story. I can’t wait for book two and will definitely be pouncing on it as soon as it releases. A really great little read!

Proper Impulse is the 4th book in the Jaded Lily series by Zeia Jameson. This book can be read as a stand-alone but as this is a great series I’d recommend that you read them all. As much as I had loved the previous books in this series, I was a bit hesitant of reading this one as Milo, the hero in this book is mentioned in Proper Ink and I wasn’t sure if I’d like him. For the first part of this book I thought he was a bit of a prat. Thankfully he did redeem himself before the book was over. I absolutely adored the interactions between Milo and Juniper. Milo, the police officer who does everything by the book, and Juniper who runs a shelter for homeless and disadvantaged people who will do anything, (even if it’s not totally legal) to provide for those at the shelter. Their first meeting is Milo arresting Juniper for taking clothes out of a charity collection bin and it’s hilarious. Zeia Jameson has a knack for writing amazing characters. Milo and Juniper add to this amazing collection. I loved that we get a sneak peak at Padraig & Stella and Luca and Kerry from the previous books. This book takes you on a lovely journey. A journey where Milo has to re-evaluate his life, his opinions & beliefs and Juniper is the one who guides him through that journey. I have loved this series so far and really hope that there is more to come from it. It is one of those series that I will read over again

How is this my first book by this author?? An author who had me like completely hooked from page 1 of this book. There was a time while reading I was tripping over the words I was reading so fast, I wasn’t skimming because you can’t while reading this and you don’t want to..it was quite a struggle there for a bit and I felt in some ways like I was literally in the story, like right next to Prudence, who by the way became my hero in this book. I don’t care how old she was, I wanted to be her! Well, her in every way except for her health struggles.
This was an Awesomely brilliant story, I loved every word and even all the unanswered questions that Im left with because it gives me something to look forward to in the next of this series. There were a few lines in this book that I loved but the one Id never heard before that literally cracked me up was “as dumb as chewing gum while eating oreos” Not sure why that got to me so much but it did and Ive used it now in my real life a few times LOL
I haven’t even mentioned Cassius yet…I love this odd boy, I just want to hug him and squeeze him and protect him forever. I can not wait for more, truly I will be straight up stalking this author!!!

What a read! 17 Marigold Lane is not at all what I expected it to be! Going by the cover, the teasers and synopsis you expect this dark, suspenseful read, while it has some mystery and suspense weaved into the story I’m so glad I read this book and experienced Prudence Penderhaus journey and story! This book had me hooked from the very beginning and I didn’t want to put it down till I had finished it. Prudence is not at all what you expect and I’m so glad I got to read her story, it takes you on an emotional rollercoaster you felt as though you were there alongside her and the other characters that really help make this story what it is! An amazing read that you won’t regret reading! This book will leave you guessing and have you totally engaged in the story.
I’m so glad I got to experience this read, I highly recommend it and can’t wait to see what else is to come from this author and series!

This book is a breakaway from my normal genre. I really like that while it’s a ‘book’ it doesn’t necessarily have to be read cover to cover. You can use this as a daily inspirational/meditative guide to remember that life is short so look for the good in everyday, because it really is there. Each short daily entry is very well written with incredible imagery. It captured all 5 senses and I felt like I was right there with her during each daily entry. Well done. 4 stars.

Sanctuary (Captivity Series Book 2) By: Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk 5 out of 5 stars
The story Sanctuary (Captivity Series Book 2) by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk is the second book in a wonderful series. I loved the first story and the second is just as entertaining and exciting. It is a book that includes shifters, action, danger, and even romance. This story finds Lorelei, Aiden and the others with them trying to find the city of Sanctuary. It is there where they hope to find health and freedom. Some say the city is just a myth. Will they find Sanctuary? What does their future hold? Read this book to find out. This is a story that is fast-paced and hard to put down. Most of the characters are familiar as they were introduced in the first book. As they travel and interact you get to know them a little more. There are moments that had me on the edge of my seat and others that are emotional. This is a book that I highly recommend reading. I would suggest reading the stories in order to fully understand what is going on. I look forward to the next book in the series.

Proper Impulse by Zeia Jameson 5 out of 5 stars Proper Impulse is the fourth book on the Jaded Lily series written by Ms. Jameson and I have read three of the books in this series and the stories just get better and better. The characters are well written and I loved their quirky ways and we also catch up with characters from previous books. They sat opposites attract well Milo and Juniper (Juni) are defiantly opposite. Milo is straight lace follows the rules and he doesn’t afford room for anything but upholding the law to the fullest extent. Juniper has a passion for helping those who can’t necessarily help themselves. Sometimes in a way that isn’t exactly legal. There is no harm in it as long as it’s for a good cause. So what happens when these two meet it starts off awkward start but you could see the sparks.
Even though this book could be read as a standalone, I recommend reading the other three books in this series first, because I think knowing what happens in the first two books will enhance your reading experience of this book and you will love the book/series… By Tracy @tracym
This isn’t a story but instead short individual thoughts and well…musings, like the title indicates. DeBlassie helps you take a different look at the world around you. At the world you live in. A way to look at life that you might not have looked at before. Sometimes the musings were as simple as cooking breakfast but then lead to a deeper feeling of better health, maybe even an awakening after a bout of depression. A feeling of being in a rut but then climbing out of that rut.
Each musing is a little different. With titles like “Let Me Be”, “Cruising to Work”, and “Confessions of a Flower Eater”, you never really know what you’re going to get.
I recommend this book if you are looking for “everyday enchantments”.
So Surprisingly Good! I am beyond glad I picked up this book. I originally wasn’t sure because it said the Mc had cancer and she is a teen. I wasn’t wanting to read a sad story. This one isNOT that! Yes it’s there but it’s in the background for a large portion of the story. Prudence Penderhaus is a wonderful name! I loved it from the get go. Her change in life started a rollercoaster of events….some good and others bad. I saw her growth, strength and fearlessness as the story rolled along. I was very proud of her! Cassius Shooster( again excellent name)..not only did I feel sorry for him but I also felt hope for him. I loved his character and his growth as well. So many changes from beginning to end.
I have to give a “HEY” to Bonnie! She is a girl who gets thing done and seems to always be in the right place at the right time. At first I didn’t care for her but as the story changed she became a large part in this wonderful story. Especially after we met her BF.
This is my first book by this author. I can not tell you how much I was glued to these pages. I even thought about it while I was away and couldn’t wait to get back so I could continue. It’s full of action, suspense and friendship. I Flipping Loved It! With the ending hopefully there will be another one.

17 Marigold Lane was such a wonderful read, when I first read the blurb I was a little unsure as it was quite vague but there was something about it that intrigued me so I thought I would give it a go and I am so glad I did – I think it is definitely up there with one of my top reads of 2019. I loved the emotions that this story brought out in me, something that I really wasn’t expecting when I first picked up the book. The authors writing really drew me into the lives of the characters and I felt a good connection with them. I loved Prudence and reading her story, she had so many struggles to overcome and I really did feel everything that she did – I laughed and cried with her. The way in which the author portrayed Cassius’s character I think it commendable, there was probably some temptation to write about him in a stereotypical way but I could tell how much the author had thought about him and his character. This really was a wonderful read and one that I highly recommend! This is also the first book that I have read by this author, I have no idea why but I can 100% say I will definitely be reading more of her work in the future!

This is a story about a young girl called Pru who has been diagnosed with a life changing illness that causes her to rethink life and be bold.
This bold move takes her to 17 Marigold Lane, the house everyone calls the spooky house. The rumours around the town is that vampires live there and coffins were in the living room. However as Pru found out the reality was different from the truth. Instead of coffins Pru found a young man living there called Cassius.
Cassius is a strange boy with strange habits but everything isnt what it seems with Cassius and his family. Pru starts to build a friendship with Cassius and begins to unravel a mystery that has been around for 14 years.
This book is an amazing read with lots of twists, but what i like about it is it takes two topics (Cancer in a young person and Aspergers Syndrome) and portrays them in a respectful and informative way. Showing that just because people may seem different we are all human and deserved to be treated right not bullied or discriminated against

17 Marigold Lane (Prudence Penderhaus Book 1) by R.M. Gilmore was an intriguing, emotional read, that had me hooked and reading into the wee hours.
Wow, this book was something I tell you. I started reading it a little later in the evening thinking, I’ll read a few chapters before I go to bed. Well it’s almost 2 in the morning, so yeah, you can say that was a reading fail on my part. I couldn’t put this book down, I kept trying, but my mind would not let it go, and sleep wouldn’t not come. So I kept flipping the pages to unravel the mystery, and I just had to know more about Cassius and Prudence.
I will say that the start was a little slow, for me, but that didn’t put me off because the writing and tone was hooking, and Cassius was such an interesting well written character that I had to know more about his situation. Research and care went into his development, and it made him such a realistic character, that I wanted to protect him just as much as Prudence. Speaking of, at first I wasn’t a fan of hers, no that’s not right. I wasn’t a fan of how she was presented. The author kept repeating at first that Pru wasn’t anything special, and all that normal YA jazz, so that threw me off. But once Pru’s true character got revealed, I was on board, and frankly, she’s probably the best YA character I think I ever read about. I’m glad the author quickly moved away from that typical cliché, and made Pru not only a relatable realistic character, but loveable and strong.
Overall this story is worth your time and energy. It’s complex, well written, well researched, compelling, original and it will get you right in the feels. So please take my super high recommendation and golden stamp of approval, that you will not be able to put this hidden gem down.

Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily Conjurings by Maria DeBlassie is a four star novel. When I first started this book, I had no clue what it was going to be about. I hate reading the descriptions of books for fear of disappointment so I survive and choose books based on covers, friends telling me about it or a book blog recommendation. That is how I happened upon this book. I did not expect to be tasked on a journey through the author’s life and how she could find happiness in everything she was doing. Magic, or belief, helps us to move through life with good intentions and good spirits. I liked how the author was able to find joy and happiness in nearly everything she came into contact with.
The Girls Across The Bay by Emerald O’Brien was a thrilling 5 star read and book one in the Knox and Sheppard series.
Madigan and Grace are sisters by heart, they lived in a foster home that brought on some abusive situations until the foster father was arrested and the girls were split up. We start out with each of them as adults, Madigan is a journalist and Grace is a police officer.
Grace has moved to Deerhorn County, the girls are excited to find themselves close together again. When there is a murder, things take a twist and some things from the past come back.
There were so many twist and turns I didn’t know which way was up at times. I love a story that keeps me wondering and I wasn’t disappointed. We get dual POV so that we can get both girls perspective on things. Overall this was a thrilling mystery with so much going on, Emerald O’Brien does a great job with her writing. I was done before I knew it. I can’t wait to read more from this series. 1-click and get started today.

Proper Impulse was a great 5 star read and book four in the Jaded Lily series. I was pulled in right from the beginning, these two were great.
When Juniper and Milo first meet it was priceless. He end’s up arresting her and having her taken to the station. There was something about her that got under Milo’s skin, especially when she tells him that some rules are made to be broken.
I have a feeling it won’t be the last time I’ll see her in cuffs.
This is a great opposites attract read. They definitely didn’t start off on the right foot that’s for sure. I really enjoyed these two together, I had some LOL moments. This is a quick read so I don’t want to give too much away. Zeia Jameson does a great job of pulling you in and you are done before you know it. Each book in the series can be read as a stand alone but I suggest reading all of them. 1-click and get started today.
Wow – 17 MARIGOLD LANE is the first book in the “Prudence Penderhaus Series” and I admit that the cover made me think it was going to read like a Stephen King novel (awesome reference to one of SK’s novels). It is not horror in the classic horror style. What is horror is that even those this story is fiction, these things still happen in our country everyday.
The writing is spot on, the story flows perfectly from beginning to end and the emotions this book caused… The way the character of Cassius is written is just brilliant (based on my limited experience) and Prudence is pure perfection.
This is one of those books that I would recommend to my younger cousins and elderly friends and their bookclubs.
I look forward to finding out who moves into 19 Marigold Lane in the very near future.

A great read about danger. ThreeTwo G years ago, Airman Russell and his team were injured and captured in Iraq. Now, he is under fire with a court charge of treason. Desperate to prove his innoncence he seeks out Brand, a close friend. But on arriving to Brand’s apartment, things get worse as someone tried to kill him and the woman living in Brand’s apartment. On the run, try to stay one step ahead of the people after them. Can they stay alive long enough to prove Russ’s innocence? A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Russ strong and dependable but caring underneath or Claire standing up for herself but vulnerable underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like supportive Mac or sweet Deanna or the determined Brand. I loved the visual detail throughout the novel like with the campground later on with its pine trees and the lake for a sense of calm and vibrant colours of green and blue wonderfully written. Or the use of small spaces for tension like the hallway or the bridge making it more intense perfectly written. Or the caravan with its homely feel and smells of food so strong its as if you’re actually there. The switch of points of view worked well to display both sides of the story and was easy to follow with names indicating the switches. I also liked how the novel started straight into the action in Iraq, grabbing the readers attention from the start. Fast paced action and high stakes made for a captivating read. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Two Hearts Under Fire by Tamara Ferguson is book eight of the Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Series. This book can be read as a standalone.
Russ Quinlan and Claire Ellis have not had easy pasts. Those pasts inadvertently brought Russ and Claire together. Unfortunately, an attack, aimed at either one of them means they need to go somewhere else. Will they be able to keep each other safe and survive their feelings toward each other?
This book deals with some heavy topics but the story is very well written with some added humor to break up the tension. This isn’t the first book I’ve read in this series and unsurprisingly, I really enjoyed this book.

The story September Breeze (Cinnamon Bay Romance Book 2) by Nikki Lynn Barrett is a truly awesome and amazing romance book. It grabbed my attention from the very beginning, and I found myself reading far into the night in order to finish. It is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. I loved reading about the characters of Tess Dixon and Brian Taylor. Tess is a songwriter who needs a place to stay. She is someone who doesn’t put down roots and the time that she spends in Cinnamon Bay will be temporary. When given an ad that has her curiosity peaked, she goes to the address. It is there that she meets Brian. Brian is a widower with two daughters. He is needing someone to help take care of them. That is how he meets Tess. She is always on the move. He knows that she has said she is not going to stay. They both, however, find that they have a mutual attraction that only gets stronger. When feelings are formed, and attachments are made will Tess still leave once her time in Cinnamon Bay is done? What does the future hold for Tess and Brian? Read this book to find out. I grew to care about Tess and Brian with each chapter that I read and found myself wanting them to find happiness. I also enjoyed reading about Brian’s daughters and the other additional characters in the story. The book has both heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. It is a story that I found myself not wanting to put down until I had finished. I highly recommend reading it.

Irresistible Heroes – Heroes of Your Heart by Various Authors 5 stars
So many new to me authors in this collection! Of course the big one that drew me to this was Tamara Ferguson, I’ve read many of her books and didn’t want to miss out on the other great stories in this.
All books in this anthology have a common theme, heroes. What makes a hero, a hero? Read any of these stories and you’ll find out that not all heroes wear capes or camo and could be just an average person. I really loved these but the one that made me pick this up will be focused on here.
Two Hearts Unlikely Heroes by Tamara Ferguson Samantha and Ben met overseas but it was a stressful moment that left both of them changed. When Ben is sent to a training facility with an odd task, he doesn’t expect to see Samantha there. These two were great and with the twists and turns this story took, it was more about them and what was happening, than a typical romance story where we’re seeing them set the sheets on fire every couple pages. I highly recommend this story.
And I will be reading all of these stories in the coming weeks when my tbr list allows it!

The stories in Guilty Pleasures Volume 3: Guilty Pleasures by Joyce McCarthy are steamy and will have you hooked until you have read the final one. There are 15 stories that have passion, desire, and dirty talking. They all feature Brad as he lives his life and the different experiences that he has. The story has such steamy scenes that the temperature in the room will rise and you will be reaching for a glass of ice water. Brad meets and interacts with an old crush, and female boss, a hotel employee, and even a woman in distress by the side of the road. These are 15 short stories that are about pleasure and undeniable lust and or attraction. Don’t miss out on this book. I recommend reading it.
This is the second book in this series, I enjoyed it just as much if not more than the first. This is a second chance book that has characters that pop off the pages and maybe even pull at the heartstrings. Brian is need of a nanny to take care of his girls and Tess is a song writer that needs a place to stay. What will happen when life throws Brian a curveball? Will Tess be there to help? Strong characters that you can imagine being friends with. I highly recommend this book.

Captivity is the first book in the captivity series written by Sarah Biglow and Molly Zenk and it’s the first book that I have read by these authors. This is a Paranormal Romance with a twist where shifters are captive in the future and what will they risk to break free?
This is a story about lost love and new beginnings Lorelei, a siren, and she has spent the last three years searching for the man she loved after he was abducted in front of her. After he was abducted she went back to work for the PLA (Phoenix Location Agency) in hopes she would find her lost love. She takes a bounty for an escaped phoenix thinking it would be a quick job but she soon finds out it’s her lost love. Aiden has no memory of the sultry siren who insists they were once in love. I loved this collection of short stories that made my summer night a little bit hotter. Brad is back with more steam and stories I couldn’t put down until the end. There is a little bit of everyone in this book from lonely housewives to online dating to just two strangers meeting. You will find something to love in this book. The characters bring the stories to life and left me wanting more. They bring romance, steam and so much more to the stories. This is a must read!
Everyday Enchantments: Musings on Ordinary Magic & Daily Conjurings by Maria F. DeBlassie
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I started reading this book, but I found it to be original, enriching, and fulfilling. This book makes every day life better, I found myself going back and reading passages that spoke to me on a deeper level. I feel like my review can’t really do this book justice because it reaches your soul in ways that are hard to explain. This book is very rich in detail and It changed the way I see everyday mundane things for the better. This is truly a gem. I highly recommend this book.
Proper Impulse (Jaded Lily Book 4) by Zeia Jameson 4 Stars
Although this is book four in the series, each one can be read as a stand-alone. This story has to be my favourite. Milo and Juni are like oil and water. Their interactions were quite comical and had me laughing out loud. Their first encounter is definitely one that I won’t forget, it was too funny. Milo is a very straight laced person. He is an extremely black and white, follow the rules type A personality. Where as Juni is much more free flowing, laid back, bend the rules when need be type of person. Together they can bring balance to each other’s lives but getting there was hilarious.
There were a few minor appearances from older characters which helped bind the book to the series. Ms Jameson has a way of writing that’s engaging and endears you to the characters. You get invested in their story and are cheering them on throughout the book. This was an awesome addition to the Jaded Lily series. I’m looking forward to reading more.
