Regency Love: Reflections of a Young Lady is a very enjoyable historical romance from T.L. Clark. This is a genre that I do not usually read but I really liked the blurb and it came highly recommended. I have to say that I really, really enjoyed this book.
Set in Regency London we are told the story of 17 year old Lady Anne Frithringham. It is her ‘come out’ season in London where she has to attend many balls and events in the hope of finding a suitable husband. As the daughter of a Duke, there are many constraints on who would be considered suitable.
I warmed to Lady Anne as a character straight away, enjoying the many thoughts going through her head. I loved reading her exploits as she meets the many men who vie for her attention. A very mixed bunch indeed, from young and handsome to older and arrogant.
I also loved as the story progressed once Anne was married, It was interesting to see how she coped as a wife. It must be said that one of my favourite scenes takes place on her wedding night. I won’t give anything away but I found it hilarious. I also do not want to mention who became her husband as that would spoil much of the story.
I would definitely recommend this book to others, even if this is not a genre you normally read.
