Shattered (Shattered Hearts Series Book 1) by Nicole Banks – Review by Emily Walsh
Shattered
By: Nicole Banks
My Rating: 3 of 5 stars
Shattered (Shattered Hearts Series Book 1) by Nicole Banks was an okay read, that is heavy on the emotions and drama.
A little out of my normal comfort zone, I went into this book with an open mind. I like the flow and the multi POV’s, each character had a distinct voice and the transitions were smooth and noticeable. The voices didn’t blend, which is hard to do with more than two POV’s; so props to the author for that.
I like the overall plot, but there are a few things that bother me. I didn’t like the push and pull, sure at first it was expected, and I wasn’t bothered by it, as both Angel and Jasmine are heavily scarred. I didn’t like how long it went on, the lack of honesty, and the immatureness of their growing relationship. They were childhood friends, but acted more like “old not close friends”. I was waiting for more from them, and I was let down in that regard. Also, as the story went on, I wasn’t too please with the way Angel was acting.
Overall this book is a good read, it has many complex elements that are multi layered, and full of raw emotions. I am going to be reading the second book, as this one does end on a cliffy. This book gets my recommendation and stamp of approval, so please give this book a chance, as it has a compelling story of learning to trust, and picking up the shattered pieces.
Happy Reading
