Evergreen by Mya O’Malley – Review by Michelle King

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Evergreen is a sweet, emotional love story with so many lessons to teach us! June, the seemingly backwards, shy, and clumsy girl from the animal shelter isn’t really whom she appears to be. She is, but there is much more to her that she keeps hidden from everyone because she is too afraid of being used and hurt if people find out the truth. Graham is the shy but sexy 6th grade teacher who happens upon a mysterious dog and meets June while taking the dog to the shelter. When the two of them and Maxine get together, things get humorous, serious, and at times, emotional.

This was a wonderful story that teaches us how powerfully our pasts can affect our presents. How animals can bring so much joy to our lives and help us heal old and new wounds. It also shows us the important works that local animal shelters do and how much help they need in order to operate in the most beneficial way for the animals.

I enjoyed this book so much! I could picture everything perfectly. The scenes and characters were written so well, the images are fed to you right from the pages. I highly recommend this short and sweet romance to everyone!
