I enjoyed this novel and like the other stories in the series it is about strong independent woman who overcome hardships and find their second chances. The story is a sweet and sensual contemporary romance, which took me on an emotional rollercoaster whilst reading it. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone story. “Two lives. Two stories. One fateful afternoon family secrets are uncovered from the hidden depths of the past.” In 1966, nineteen year old Maggie finds herself alone with a baby having left the city, her friends, family and the baby’s father behind. Maggie ends up in a tiny town in Maine, Shadow Brook at a beautiful inn, a place where she can forget her past and start a fresh with her daughter. In 1996, Rachel finds herself at her mothers run down inn in Maine. Having loved her life and career in busy hectic New York she’s not happy to return to her childhood home. However after her mother passed away and she then finds her husband in bed with another woman, Rachel finds herself back in Shadow Brook. Finding herself face to face with Luke, her high school boyfriend complicates matters further. Whilst clearing out her mother’s things from the attic, she comes across an old box of letters and journals and secrets from her mother’s past suddenly come to light.
I found this novel to be wonderfully written with a storyline that really captured me and kept me turning the pages well into the night. I loved the characters, both Maggie and Rachel are likeable and realistic and the problems that they overcome made them very relatable. I especially enjoyed the similarities and differences between the mother and daughters lives and how they both ended up in Shadow Brook for their own second chances. I definitely recommend this novel, and I look forward to reading other books by this author.

Girl Trap (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 3) by Cynthia Hamilton is a riveting read. As with the other two books in the series, Maddie is a powerful female lead. However, in this book, Mike, her partner, also gets to come into his own. When Madeline is tasked with tracking down a missing person, who hasn’t been seen in 10 years. Mike is off on a mission of his own, to track down his cousins missing girlfriend and her sister. I really liked how this book had two completely different mysteries to solve and this gave the characters a chance to shine individually. I also love the twists in the tale, I didn’t expect that ending! Really enjoyable read and as always I eagerly anticipate the next edition of the series.

The Labyrinthine Journey by Luciana Cavallaro is jam packed with so many of my favorite things that I don’t know where to start. Certain historical fiction definitely pulls me in but throw in the heavy hand of Greek Mythology and I am plum in heaven. This book follows Evan as he makes his way in a whole new world of ancient Greece. When I found out his father was Zeus I may have been a tad jealous. Evan is on a mission to find lost relics and help keep the mystical creatures and powers of the world he is in alive and strong. I loved the adventures we followed him on as he would battle through anything with such fervor that you could feel his emotions come off the screen of the kindle as you read I am very much looking forward to seeing what else may be available by Luciana Cavallaro, and to get my hands on the next book in this series!

Winter’s Wolf is the first book in The Cursed series.

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I got this book, but it turned out to be pretty good. The story concept is interesting and I enjoyed the characters. The author does a good job of building suspense so it keeps you reading. There are a few places where the story breaks down a bit, but I think this series has promise.

One of the things that caught me in this book are the names of the characters. I don’t know why it stood out, but the names really fit this book well.

Overall, a good read!

I have never had the pleasure until now to read anything penned by JD Spero, and I am so glad that I have. Boy on Hold is a very raw and realistic look into the lives of a boy, Hen Trout and his family’s battle with addiction, mental illness, and shocking murder. This family sees it all and the author does a very good job at keeping things authentic and realistic. Everything comes off as raw and real as you read that you can’t help but feel the same emotions that the characters are struggling with. I loved how this kept you on the edge of your seat and had a slow build throughout the story. It was impossible for me to put this book down until I reached that last page. I not only had to know how things would come to be for the family but even more wanted to keep reading because it was just that good. I felt transported right there and I can’t wait to see what else JD Spero has to get lost in soon! This is one you don’t want to miss!

Yet another great adventure in Spicetopia. I have read this whole series so far and yet again I was lost in the Spicetopia world with yet another great couple and a bit of drama thrown in to boot. I really could not put this book down and really could not wait to see how things would end up. The author has a really good way of luring the reader in and once hooked keeping your attention.

I really thought that the story of Makenna and Ty was kind of sweet. The whole situation is sort of complex from the beginning and the author has quite the way to spin the complexity. I could really feel the pain of Makenna as she is confronted with the betrayal and also could feel the rush of excitement when venturing into the unknown. I also really like how Ty didn’t let his family stand in the way of what he wants to do. I really enjoyed this book and I cannot wait to read more from this author and hopefully this series in the future.

I couldn’t wait to dive into this read, Lou Grimes is a new author and I couldn’t wait to see what this paranormal read was about, and boy I wasn’t disappointed. This book had me hooked instantly and I couldn’t wait to go deeper into the read. This book had action, suspense, mystery and a lot of drama, I couldn’t read the book fast enough I was eager to find out more, and see where the story will go.
I thoroughly enjoyed following our characters story in this read and finding out where their journey will take them. I can’t wait to read more from this author and see what else comes to this series!

Girl Trap is the 3rd book in the Madeline Dawkins Series by Cynthia Hamilton. This is a fast paced, thrilling detective series with gripping storylines and great characters. Each book in this series can be read as a stand-alone but I think you’d get a better understanding of Madeline and Mike’s characters and their background.
In Girl Trap, Madeline and Mike are both working on different missing women cases so we get the added bonus of 2 great stories at the same time.
Madeline is looking a Hannah, who has been missing for 10 years. Her mother is dying and wants to reconcile with her estranged daughter before she dies. Well, that’s the story she tells Madeline. What unfolds is a completely different story that has a very unexpected ending that you will not see coming.
At the same time Mike is looking for his cousin Jesse’s missing girlfriend and her sister. I have to say that this particular story had me more gripped than the story Maddie was working on. This storyline leads you into the dark and murky world of woman trafficking.
This book took me a little longer than the first 2 in the series to get gripped by, but once I did, it gripped me hard and I could not put this book down. Cynthia Hamilton sure knows how to write a well thought out thriller that will really have you invested in the story and the characters. The more I read of Madeline and Mike, the ore I come to love and admire that people that they have become. Both have overcome some serious adversity in the years preceding these stories. I can’t wait to see what Cynthia Hamilton has in store next for Maddie and Mike.

I can’t even put into words all of the emotions this story has put me through. Love, frustration, loss, sorrow, heartbreak, surprise and the sparkle of first love, even second love. At first I struggled with this. But at about 30% it really started coming together. There are plenty of date/year switches but as the story goes on I can see a reason for each and every one of them.

The writing in here is wonderful. The author made me care about the characters. Feel their joy and cry tears with them. There are certain parts in here that just really pulled on those old heartstrings. This is a definite journey that I went on that spans over time. Sometimes I felt it was a bit wordy and some areas could have been cut down but for the most part I really liked it.

The characters really just pulled me into their life. I felt the second love of James and Maggie as well as all the emotions of her first love, Charles. Then there is Rachel and her life with Paul and her regrets with Luke. This has secrets that are played out over the course of this story. Everyone has secrets but how damaging are they?

We are invited into the lives of Marcella, Hen and Tyler. A nice family dealing with normal family issues. But in this story they take a little different avenue. This becomes a mystery or a who did it. We meet other players and learn more and more about Tyler and Hen. Hen only wants to catch a hedgehog and keep the love and trust of his big brother. Tyler is just trying to get through each day. The author did a good job portraying these boys and this family. I came to came about them an hope against hope that they are all in the clear. I did wondered where the title came from when I picked this up. After reading it makes more sense.

The story moves along and easily kept my interest. I loved the characters and they story weaves together nicely.

Then soon after his fathers funeral a ‘For-Sale’ sign appears in front of their house, a house full of memories of his dad.  Having moved house and having to start at a new school, Rocky suddenly hears the voice of his father, who is insisting that he return to his old town for answers, but can you take advice from a dead person? Rocky then makes a new friend in Olive who offers to be Rocky’s assistant sleuth and help him discover the truth. Rocky and Olive then go on a journey of risks, eavesdropping and snooping all to discover the truth about his father and find out why his mother lied. This is a contemporary mystery with an interesting storyline and great characters in Rocky and Olive. Both of the main characters were likeable and relatable and I loved how their relationship developed throughout the book. It had me hooked from the start and I found it an emotional story, and one I felt fully immersed in whilst reading.

Its the story of Rachel who finds her husband in bed with another woman and her mom passing away she finds herself leaving the life she loves behind to go to Shadow Brook, Maine the new owner of the run down Inn her mom owned. Add to the crazy list of things happening she runs into her ex high school boyfriend Luke. She tries to keep herself busy with the renovation of the Inn but in cleaning out her mom’s things she finds a box of journals and letters that bring even more mystery to her life. She learns her mom Maggie ended up in Shadow Brook all alone at 19 with her as a baby. What will Rachel find out about her mom in these journals? Will the life she’s known all be a lie? Will she ever be able to forgive Paul or will she give new love a chance with Luke? Read this amazing love story to find out!

Girl Trap is the third novel in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton, it follows, ‘Spouse Trap’ and ‘A High Price to Pay’. Event coordinator and private investigator Madeline Dawkins adventures continue in this story. Both Madeline and partner Mike are busy with two cases which at first glance look like simple missing person cases, however it doesn’t take long to discover that the disappearance of two sisters from Minnesota and an estranged heiress who has never touched her eight-figure fortune are not simple cases at all. Mike heads off to search for his cousin’s missing girlfriend and her sister whilst Madeline’s investigation leads her to a Catholic boarding school. Both investigations lead them into danger and soon several lives are hanging in the balance. Mike and Madeline are then faced with both daunting odds and ruthless criminals.
Having been gripped by the first two books in this series I was looking forward to this third instalment and I was definitely not disappointed. I was hooked from page one with this fast paced mystery, adventure, thriller. I love Madeline as the main character and heroine of this series and I’m always cheering her on to a good outcome. I found this a great read and was fully immersed in Madeline Dawkins world once again.

I give Winter’s Wolf (The Cursed Book 1) by Lou Grimes, 5 stars.

I really enjoyed this book. This is a YA supernatural book where the main character discovers who they really are. While there are many books that fall into this category, the author does a great job of making this one stand out. Louvette is such a good character and we are along for the ride as she finds out more about herself. Most teenagers feel like she does at this age and I could easily remember those times while I read. The cast of secondary characters is also really great. Her mother did the best she could, but you can see the love there. Her friends are also enjoyable and I hope to see more of them too. Then there is the story itself. It’s not just a girl finding her way in this newly discovered world. There are more sinister things afoot, making the story all the more endearing.

If you are a fan of YA Paranormal books, I recommend this story to you. I cannot wait to read the next book.

I’m a history-lovin’ author who writes in her fuzzy pants and loves her horses! My stories have a pinch of sweetness, a dash of spice, and a dollop of history.

 

Growing up in Nevada, reading was always a pastime that took second place to trail riding and showing horses. When I did find the time in my youth to curl up with a book, I found enjoyment in the Saddle Club Series, the Sweet Valley High series, and the classics of Anne of Green Gables, The Box Car Children, and Little House on the Prairie. Although writing always piqued my curiosity, it wasn’t until September 2009 that I worked up the courage to put my passion to paper and started my debut novel.

 

I live on a ranch with my husband, two daughters, and many farm animals. When I’m not writing, I spend my days from dawn to dusk as a stay at home, homeschooling mom. I also work in my garden and takes care of my many farm animals, as well as I love to bake and cook from scratch. While I don’t show horses anymore, I still love to trail ride my paint horse, Honky, as well as I, enjoy teaching my daughters how to ride their horses, Sunburst and Cowboy.

I have this really annoying habit of underestimating or even by passing books aimed toward a younger audience when in reality they have been some of the best books I’ve read. Swallowed by a Secret is certainly a 5 star book that falls into this category.
This book has everything, including the ability to make me cry, harder than I would like to admit. The characters, though young, (I mean the main character is thirteen) were really fantastic.
I struggle to find the words to describe this book, I want to say heavy, but that isn’t it. The author did a great job navigating through delicate subjects in a captivating, well written way. This was the first book read by this author and it will most certainly leave a lasting impression. Impressed is an understatement.

If I’m being completely honest, I was drawn to this book initially because of the gorgeous cover. Shortly after, curiosity took over. I’m still fairly new to the world of shape shifting and werewolves and wasn’t entirely sure what to expect. Winter’s Wolf was a great young adult read with action, danger and suspense and it kept me interested from the first to last page and everything in between. I look forward to reading more from Lou Grimes, especially the Cursed Book series.

Girl Trap is the third book in the Madeline Dawkins series. I would say that this book could be read as a stand alone novel, as the author, Cynthia Hamilton, gives a good amount of background information to catch new readers up. However, I always enjoy a book more when I’m already familiar with character and their backstories, so I personally would say it might be even more enjoyable if you start from the beginning of the series.
The start of the book is a refresher, reminding us of the key points that you need to know. It soon dives into the story though, and with Madeline and her partner Mike working on two separate cases there is plenty of action to keep you hooked.
I really like how the plots and characters have developed throughout the series, Madeline and Mike find themselves in uncharted waters this time and having to think on their toes. As always a few surprises are dropped in too, which makes you want to keep reading for more.
A nice, easy read to get lost in for an afternoon.

Summers Stolen (An Urban Fantasy Novel) by Sarah Biglow is the second book in the Seasons of Magic series. This is a fantastic follow up book to the first in the series. It is exciting and fast paced with a great storyline.
I enjoyed booked one and so was excited to start reading book two. It had all the fantastic writing and strong characters that I had got used to in the first book. I was drawn straight back in to it and could not wait to find out what was going to happen.
I have read a few books by this author now and she is definitely one I would recommend. Her stories are always well written and really know how to catch your attention. After reading this book I am looking forward to seeing what else is to come in the series.

Louvette has lived almost all over the southern US states. It seems her and her mother were always running. It didn’t help that she was always kicked out of school for fighting. After her recent expulsion, her mother was at her wits end. A knock on their door would change the course of her life. Louvette had never met her father yet she inherited everything when her grandfather passed away. Her mother wasn’t happy but without any other options, signed the papers. Louvette thought of it as a new opportunity to start somewhere new. The little town in Montana was quaint but had its secrets. Louvette quickly realized that she was different and that danger lurked around every corner.

This was an amazing debut novel and a great start to what I believe will be a fantastic series. Between these pages you will find action, danger and romance. The story will keep you glued from beginning to end. The characters are likeable and relatable. I can’t wait to read part two.

I loved reading about the 2 different generations and everything they both go through. I found it so easy to connect with the two characters and their respective stories. The author has really developed two well round and complex characters.
The story itself had everything you could want as well. I found it to be highly emotional which helped me to connect with it even more. As the first book that I have read by this author I was impressed with the writing style and how the whole book progressed. I will definitely be reading more by this author in the future.

A Book Signing to Die For is a cosy mystery book by Judy Moore. If you’re not sure what a cosy mystery is, you’re in luck because protagonist Becca tells us in chapter five as “kind of a Hallmark version of a mystery – no swearing, no extreme violence, and definitely G-rated”. A Book Signing to Die For definitely fits the bill, centring around a bookshop/café in a quaint seaside location with a book loving protagonist and a handsome detective. If you’re after something comfortably engaging, this is the book for you!
I particularly liked the cast of characters (human and animal!). At the outset, some seem a little two-dimensional and stereotypical (the sister who hates books and is obsessed with boys, for example) but over the course of the story they are fleshed out and developed. Miss Alice is one of my favourites, with her stern and driven attitude towards business and the soft side that we glimpse every now and then.
The setting, and the book signing event that gets the story going, will appeal to fans of mystery books, so it’s definitely a likeable book! And a holiday to Florida, even if only on the pages of a book, is a welcome escape for anyone stuck somewhere cold, rainy and far from the sea.
For me, this is a four-star book. A great comfort read, and an intriguing mystery!

Clark is a known author to me but this genre was a new one from her for me. And I loved it! Sometimes when dystopian and romance are mixed they become diluted and predictable. But this story had all of the elements well established and the plot kept quick pace and kept me guessing. I loved this story and cannot wait to go back and read it again.

I loved reading the book Another Yesterday (Seashells and Second Chances Collection Book 2) by Angela Christina Archer. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. It is a story about love, family, and finding oneself. It is a story that had my emotions going up and down the entire time I was reading it. There are times when I had tears in my eyes and others that had me empathizing with the characters. I loved reading about Maggie and Rachel. In 1966 Maggie finds herself in the small town of Shadow Brook. Away from all she had ever known, friends, family. It is a place she could forget her past. She left it hidden in a box in the attic. Rachel thought she had it all. A wonderful husband, a wonderful career, and living in a city that she loves. When life throws her come curves she finds herself back in Shadow Brook. Now she is facing her mother passing away, her high school sweetheart, and that she is the new owner of an inn. This is the story of two strong women that is unforgettable. Read this book to find out their full story. This is a story that has heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. It has moments that will touch your heart. The author has done an amazing job of creating not only a wonderful storyline but making the characters come alive. This is a book that I thought about long after I had finished the last page. Don’t miss out on this awesome story. I highly recommend reading it.

This is a beautiful story about a mother and daughter. About their lives and the secrets they keep and the secrets that are found. Its a heartwarming story about love and forgiveness and shows that you never really know someone’s story.

Maggie runs away from her home town. Leaving behind her parents, her friends and him. The Him being the father of her little girl Rachel. Being a young mum she flees to a small town of Shadow Brook where she rebuilds her life at the little Inn.

Fast forward 30 years and Rachel is a grown married woman. The last place she wants to be is working at the Inn her mother took on in the sleepy village of Shadow Brook, but when her mother passes away and she finds her husband has been unfaithful she runs back to the Inn.

When she starts to do the Inn up she find a box in the attic of her mothers letters and journal and she finally learns the truth of her mothers story. When she rekindles her romance with her old school sweetheart she thinks maybe she could build her life here just as her mum has before her.

I really enjoyed this book. There was laughter and sadness and twists that I didn’t see coming but it was a very touching story.

When you want hot, sexy and steamy……. this is most definitely the author to turn to!!!! Ms. Alexander pulls you in and keeps you wanting more and more. She is one of my favorite authors and I always look forward to her books. Sometimes, you never know what to expect but always know, you will thoroughly enjoy reading her books.
When I read the blurb, I was a little skeptical about how the story might go but I loved it!!!!! I fell in love with Makenna and Ty’s characters. I can not wait too see what comes next from Ms. Alexander!!!

This is the 3rd book in the Madeline Dawkins series and they just keep getting better.

This book finds our two favourite PI’s splitting up and taking on 2 separate cases.

Mike takes on the case of his cousins missing gf and her sister. What starts out as a case of the gf taking his money and leaving soon becomes something more sinister as Mike and Jesse work and put the pieces together. They start to uncover things they never thought possible and when they come across a sex trafficking ring and a possible ransom they start to believe that the girls were involved in something much more sinister.

Meanwhile Madeline is on the hunt for Elise’s daughter who has been missing for years. Even though there is obviously no love lost between the mother and her daughter, Elise hires then to find her daughter Hannah. Elise tells them that she is dying and that is why she needs Hannah found. With this case and trail being really really cold will Madeline stand a chance of finding anything. When she starts putting pieces of a story together things don’t add up. A fatal crash that killed Hannah’s father is suspicious. Was it an accident like Elise claimed or was it more sinister.

This book will keep you on the edge all the way through. You can’t put it down because you need to find out the truth and the answers to these cases. Amazing read.

Swallowed by a Secret by Risa Nyman is my first read and I can honestly say it won’t be my last. This story is aimed for ages nine to thirteen but can be read by older kids and adults as well. What an emotional journey this story takes us on. I found myself unable to put it down once I started reading. Rocky is a twelve year who has lost his father and is now moving and switching schools. He overhears his mom telling the truth about what happened to his dad . Rocky and his friend Olive set out to find the secret. Find out what happens next in this must read .I can’t wait to read more.
