Kinney Scott has a knack for writing a sweet romance novel that kept me glued to the kindle to find out how these characters would come to find their happily ever after. I wasn’t sure what to expect with Better Than Goodbye, the first in the Venture series from her, as I have only read one other novel by her before, but this one was probably my favorite so far and I will definitely be back for more in this series.
This was the story of Amanda and Kent. Amanda leaves and goes to California to follow and pursue her dreams, but she leaves behind pieces of her heart with Kent and the dream to be with him. Things get interesting when Kent and Amanda are brought back into each other’s lives. Will they be able to find the love and hold on to it this time? I was really engrossed in these two and their story from the very first page until the very last and I was never one moment disappointed or bored with how things were going to turn out. I look forward to seeing what we will get next from this series!

I was really excited to get my hands on this second book of the Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series from Nicole Flockton, Falling for the Texan. I knew I wanted to read this the second I finished book one and I am happy to report that I loved it just as much if not more than I was expecting to. We got to go back to the sweet town of Sweet Ridge in Texas, and I was instantly transported to the vineyards and fell in love with the setting and the way the author paints the scenery.
I was excited to get into the relationship and the way Flockton built the slow building relationship between Ty and Gia. These two have some pretty obvious attractions but it isn’t an easy road, and the realistic way they do come together makes this story more believable and relatable, something I do value in romance novels. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book and meet the characters in that one in ways we may not see coming!

Her Blackened Soul (Blackened Series Book 1) By Isra Sravenheart. This story was a bit outside my comfort zone but was enjoyable and I look forward to more in this series. This author is also new to me and I like the writing style. The characters are complex and pulled me in effortlessly and I found myself lost in the pages. When I first started I didn’t feel an immediate draw but I didn’t let that stop me and I’m glad to say it had my full attention quickly. It’s a very unique storyline that I for one haven’t seen before and I think that’s what I liked most about it. The storyline is paced nicely never feeling rushed. It’s a creative storyline that I’m excited to see more about. Four stars and recommended.

Finding Ruth: A Daughter’s Quest to Discover Her Mother’s Past by Cynthia Hamilton
This is the first book I’ve read by the author and I’ve got to say that I really enjoyed this. This won’t be the last book I’ll read by Hamilton.
This follows Cindy in her mom’s journey. She goes through her mother’s things to find who her mom was in the past. This hit close to home as a family member went down the same path Ruth did.
Ruth can no longer remember anything of who she once was. Finding herself over the years has stopped as she depends on her kids. Her past is no longer there and there are days she doesn’t know who she is. The quote I choose for Ruth is: “Do you see those trees right there? Would you believe, every day when I walked to school, I’d walk right by those trees…and here they are!”
I do highly recommend this for anyone who loves an emotional read.

This is a titillating romance. The story is sexy from beginning to end. Joe is a Dominant hell bent on revenge. He has Hunter in his sights and he never misses his mark. Hunter is broken and accepts the miserable life she leads, believing that she deserves it. She never thought that she could heal until she met Joe. He I trod yes her to the world of Don/Sub and she finds a peace that she never knew existed. Karma turns on Joe and he finds himself ensnared in her innocence. The truth will always come out, no matter what. Can these two find a way through the disaster? You need to read and find out.
The scenes between these two are incredibly hot! The story will keep you interested until the end. I loved the depth of the two main characters. This is my first book from this author and it definitely won’t be the last.

We all have those authors whose books we will purchase without even reading what the actual book is about because we love that author so much. Cynthia Hamilton is that author for me. I LOVE her writing style and the way she creates a story so in depth it’s like you’re an active member of the story or at the very least- watching it like a movie. This is my 4th Madeline Dawkins Mystery book, and I cannot wait for another one. She struck gold with this series. I love Maddie and Mike to no end! This book will give you multiple different scenarios for a couple of cases that have been dumped on the duo. Will Steven Ridley be a problem for them this go around? This is the first book I’ve read by Mrs. Mannersly, but it will not be the last. The book was written amazingly and it felt like I transferred into the book. Drawn to Him will draw you in.

This is a highly recommended book for anyone who loves a damn good romance. With a bit of drama thrown in.

Falling For The Texan by Nicole Flockton is the second book in the Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge series. This book is a standalone book as it follows different main characters. This is such a sweet, heartwarming story that I enjoyed just as much as the first book. The main characters were so likeable and engaging. They are the kind of characters that you just lose yourself in for the afternoon as you read about their journey. The author has successfully created a strong series and I like the fact that we get to go back into this family each time we get a new book. I liked the familiarity it causes and for me it makes it so much easier to get straight into the books. I thought this one was very well written and it has definitely got me looking forward to the next book.

Better Than Goodbye is the first book in the Venture series by Kinney Scott. It is also the first book that I have read by this author. I used to be bad for sticking to the same author’s all the time but now I’m more likely to take the plunge on author’s I haven’t read before if the blurb ‘speaks’ to me. I’m so glad that I’ve changed this mentality as I’ve discovered many new authors I’d have never read before. If this book is anything to go by then I’ll definitely be reading more of Kinney Scott’s work. I’m already looking forward to reading more of this series to see what happens to some of the characters from this one in the future. Better Than Goodbye is a great second chance romance that had me pulled into the story from the very beginning and did not let me go. The story is very well written and flows very well at a good pace. I did feel that the pace was a bit quick at the beginning when we were getting the past history of Amanda and Kent but then it settled as it came to the present day and moved at a much better pace. I loved the characters of Kent and Amanda and their sexual chemistry is off the charts HOT! Kinney sure knows how to write a sizzling story filled with drama that makes it hard to put the book the book down when real life sadly gets in the way. In addition to Kent and Amanda there is a great secondary cast that I’m hoping to read more about in future books in this series.

This is a rock star romance with great characters and a storyline that keeps you turning the pages. Record label agent, Aiden loves music and being involved in all aspects of the industry. When he auditions Aria, a sultry singer for a band to open the show for his main group whilst on tour, he realises she’s not just perfect for the band but also for him. The chemistry between Aiden and Aria is instant and sizzles off the page. I enjoyed seeing how there relationship developed and Jordan finished the book leaving me wanting more. As well as the romance and chemistry between the main characters the storyline also had plenty of drama and fascinating secondary characters as well. The book flowed well and was a light hearted and enjoyable read. I’m looking forward to reading book two in this series.

A wonderful historical romance, which is book three in Bianca Blythe’s, ‘The Duke Hunters Club’ series. I happily read it as a standalone story, however the characters had been introduced in a previous book and how they met was referred to in this book, but enough backstory was given to enjoy this novel. The storyline had a bit of an enemies to lovers feel to it with a historical twist. Genevieve and her family have rented a cottage in Cornwall as due to her fathers financial difficulties they had to leave there home in the Lake District. Meanwhile, Sebastian, the Duke of Sandridge, turns up for a much needed holiday at his cottage in Cornwall to find that not only has it been rented but to a woman, Genevieve who he despises. Genevieve is determined that the grumpy Duke will not take her families cottage away from them. Genevieve and her mother spot an opportunity when Genevieve rescues Sebastian following a swimming accident and when he wakes up with amnesia, Genevieve’s mother announces that Genevieve and Sebastian are actually married. The only problem is what will happen once the Duke regains his memory, no spoilers, I recommend you read this fun and enjoyable book. The authors wonderful descriptions of the Cornwall coast are so detailed that I felt I was actually there with Genevieve and Sebastian, I was fully immersed in their story. The main characters are very likeable and realistic and I loved the banter between Genevieve and Sebastian. Genevieve’s mother was also a lovely character. The storyline flowed nicely with a great narrative and enough drama to keep me hooked until the last page. I am keen to read the two previous books in this series now.

This was my first book by this author, and I am in such awe that I have a list of other books to read by her on my TBR. I was having a rough week and this book helped pull me out of it. Sam and Casey have a connection from the beginning that is off the charts. Both these characters have a rough past and are trying to handle things in their own ways. What happens when Casey gets a terrifying text? Can the two keep their relationship or will it push him away? You will LOVE this book.

This is a great realistic romance. I like how the start of the story shows key moments in both Kent and Amanda’s life which turns them into the adults they become. The key moments were shown in a short way which was ideal as anything more would have made them too long and the book drag.
It was a roller coaster of emotions from the start and was relatable. Most people can identify with the story of your first love and then circumstance in life meaning you drift apart.
Kent and Amanda were sweethearts at school and when their careers take them in different direction their love is lost. Or so they think.
That is until Amanda returns and all the old feelings resurface. Will this second chance be enough to show Kent and Amanda how much they need to make their relationship work or will they separate again and lose the love of their lives for the second time.

The Walls Between Us: A Borderland Love Story is a love story at heart. It is also very thought provoking regarding immigration, human trafficking, and other issues on both sides of the U.S./Mexico border. Ms. McGahan not only writes about the border conflicts and issue, she also add details of the beautiful desert scenery of the desert. The story sucked me in from the beginning. The story shares so many aspects of life – heartache, cultural diversity, the strength of unconditional love, and so much more.

This genre is what I normally go for, but this series has done really shown me a different side to the crime/mystery genre and I have grown to really enjoy it. Cynthia Hamilton has once again drawn me into this read and made me forget everything around me! It had me turning the pages quickly wanting to find out more. This book is filled with suspense, mystery, action and leaves you guessing what could happen next. I can’t wait to see what will happen next in this series until then I highly recommend this read!

I loved reading the book Shattered: Rhodes Family Book 1 by Lisa Wood. It is a story that is romantic and steamy. It had the temperature in the room rising. I loved reading about the characters of Olivia and Gabriel. Olivia is a woman who is intelligent and beautiful. She is also a woman who has left her old life behind. That includes everything that came with it. Then she meets Gabriel. Gabriel is a man who is handsome, charming, and knows how women react to him. He is not the settling down with one-woman type. Then he meets Olivia. There is intense chemistry and attraction between Olivia and Gabriel. Read this book to find out their story. This is a wonderful story that had me hooked from the very beginning. I found myself reading it all in one sitting. I just had to know what happens between Gabriel and Olivia. I grew to care about them with each chapter that I read. The other additional characters introduced are wonderful to read about as well. This is a story that has swoon-worthy scenes. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining book to read. I highly recommend reading it.

I loved reading the book Rose by Any Other Name (The Sisters, Texas Mystery Series, Book 10) by Becki Willis. It is a story that had me hooked from the very beginning. I loved reading about the mystery woman Rose Belvedere who has just moved into The Sisters. With her arrival comes suspicions and a dead body. What will Chief Brash deCordova and Madison find out about this newcomer? What is going on in The Sisters? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has adventure, suspense, and mystery. The book had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. It also has amazing and colorful characters that I loved reading about. The author does a wonderful job of making both them and the storyline come alive. I felt like I was right there with them as their investigations start and deepen. There are also humorous moments that had me laughing at the bantering and interactions. The setting for the story is in a small town so everyone knows and hears about what goes on all the time. I could relate as I live in a rural, small town. Don’t miss out on an intriguing and entertaining story that I didn’t want to put down until I had finished the last page. I highly recommend it be added to the top of your TBR list.

I thought this book was a sweet one and it was a great introduction to a new to me author! This book was well written and i was pulled in from page one and didn’t come back up for air until the very last page. It was engaging and i thought the main characters were fantastic. They really made this story that much better and i couldn’t help but like them. Amanda is awesome. She goes after her dream job but in doing so she makes a big sacrifice to her love life and she leaves her love Kent behind. But fate has a different idea and Her and Kent may get the second chance that Amanda’s asking for.. But first she has to convince Kent that they’re meant to be. This story was fast paced and i really did like it a lot. I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future and i would recommend this book to a friend. Happy Reading!

Deception is my first read by Victoria Saccenti. Never having read any of her work before, I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book. I discovered that the author has a very descriptive and ‘visual’ style to her writing- with an attention to detail that really brought his story to life. I loved that part of the book. I really liked the premise, offering something a little different from other books in the same genre. I was really into this story- until the dialogue and interactions between characters. Something about it really put me off a bit. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but it seemed a little forced and/or somewhat disingenuous. There were cheesy moments, and some of the ‘sex-scenes’ were a little awkwardly worded. This did seem to improve as the story progressed and I did enjoy the second half more than the first. This book should have ticked all the boxes for me- but fell a little short. Maybe it was just me, as I have read a few of the other reviews for it and they all seem to have no problems with it- so I think I will revisit this book again in the future and see if I still feel the same way or whether I was just having an off reading day. This book is a game of seduction, with revenge being the end game. But what happens when this spider web of intrigue and deception begins to unravel? What happens when feelings become involved? And what happens when the truth is revealed? You really need to read the story if you want to find out. I really wanted to love this book so much more than I did. But I just couldn’t connect with it the way I’d hoped. Maybe next time.

This book was so entertaining. It kept me turning the pages wanting to know what would happen next. I couldn’t help myself but root for Becky while she goes through all of the ups and downs of life in pursuit of her dreams. There are also other wonderful characters in this story. This can be read as a standalone but it is my suggestion that you read book one first for a better experience. The author does a great job making you feel like you are right in this story. The author gets you completely invested in the story. I highly recommend this book.

Falling for the Texan takes us back to Sweet Ridge and back to the Prentice brothers. This books focuses on Tyler. Tyler has been given some land on the farm for his winery. He hires his college buddy’s PR firm to market his vineyard launch. However, his buddy isn’t the one to show up….it’s Gianna. Gianna has recently lost a huge client at her PR firm and her boss reassigns her to a vineyard launch in Texas. Gianna goes into this with the mindset of go in, create an awesome campaign, and get back home. What she doesn’t account for is Tyler wanting a successful launch and her heart. These two are at odds for much of the book. They can never find common ground because they are butting heads at every turn. However, I was still pulling for them to find that happiness that they both deserve! This is the second book that I have read in this series and there is just something magical about the words Nicole Flockton is putting on the pages of these stories. I am in love with the Prentice brothers and their little hometown. I love how the city girls come in and find that the fast-paced metropolis life maybe isn’t what they really want. Can’t wait to see what happens next!

STOP! If you have not read books 1-3, do that first before opening this one, its needed to know all that’s going on here in this book.
We get to see some more growth for our characters in this book. Investigating not one but two cases involving dead husbands, we dive right in and are taken for quite the spin. And if that’s not enough, let’s throw in an ex with his own cry for help. The story moved well, and we get to see all the details and are able to paint the picture in our minds of what is going on. Good read, great series!

I really enjoyed this one from Nicole Flockton. It’s the second in a series and really has a nice flow to it. I liked getting to know each of the main characters. Tyler would be a tough one. He seemed to have a chip on his shoulder in the last book. I loved seeing his passion for the wine. Gianna is from the Big Apple and not a fan of going to hicktown USA. She is pleasantly surprised when she arrives and meet Tyler and sees his future. Their relationship seemed a bit stiff and At times I didn’t really feel too much of a connection between them. It was lovely to see Kelly as well as his brothers. Even the townsfolk.
Overall it’s a good read. It did keep my interest and I didn’t get bored. I like Tyler’s story better than Tate’s (book 1). There is such a nice connection to his mother that makes me go awwww. Plus I love the female leads name…Gianna. I am looking forward to Trey’s story!

Falling for the Texan by Nicole Flockton is the second book in this series, and it was another great read! It was definitely as good as the first book, if not more so. And you don’t have to read the first to follow along with this one. This book is a great stand-alone novel! This book contained more great characters, and another great storyline and plot. I loved reading the blossoming romance story, set in a country setting. Those are some of the best books in my opinion. This was a great read all around and I highly recommend it!

The Walls Between Us by Kate McGahan was a well written book. This is the first book I have read by this author. I wasn’t really sure what I was getting myself into when I started reading the book. It definitely wasn’t something I’ve read previously. There were a lot of real issues going on in the book. Things we go through on a daily basis. Some people choose not to talk about these things because it turns into a political thing but the struggle is real. I liked most of the characters. I was left with a lot of questions. The love story between Benito and Sarah had me asking why…but as they stated many times in the book they felt they were soulmates. I feel the book was hard to finish for me because I wasn’t interested in the subject however, I cannot give a bad review because of my preferences. I feel the author did a great job with writing and explaining the story!

This is the second book of the Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Series but can be read as a stand alone. Nicole has done a fabulous job with Falling for the Texan.
Tyler Prentice, middle brother, has his own dream. Wine. He is getting help from an old friend or so he thought. What happens when the firm he’s working with sends someone who changes his life. The quote I choose for Tyler is: “Thanks, Gia, that’s a big help. I can come and get you around midday. Will that work? Will it give you time to sort everything out? Also let me know how much I owe you for your accommodation.”
Gianna Lucchia, is the campaign manager from the firm, but she’s also the one who changes Tyler’s life. It starts out as a job she doesn’t want, to one where she wants to prove herself worthy, but then it changes. What happens when Tyler goes to New York? The quote I choose for Gianna is: “I can’t. My life is there. Not here. Never here.”
I really enjoyed the book and will be looking forward to reading the next. I highly recommend this book for those who love a good romance.

This is book four in Cynthia Hamilton’s ‘Madeline Dawkins Mystery’ series and having read and thoroughly enjoyed the previous three books I was really looking forward to this latest instalment and was definitely not disappointed. This series just keeps getting better and better, Madeline is a great main character and heroine of the stories and I felt like I was back with an old friend whilst reading this novel. In, ‘The Trouble with Paradise’ a person from Madeline’s past threatens her future and everything she has built for herself since leaving her husband and becoming a private investigator. Her latest cases along with partner Mike Delaney come personally from the Santa Barbara D.A. and include the case of a widow who is insistent that she did not kill her much older husband. The other is a widow who does not agree that her husband took his own life. Whilst sifting through the greed and betrayal involved in these cases to determine the truth, Madeline is reminded of her own past. Meanwhile, Madeline’s ex husband comes back into her life wanting to clear the name of an inmate, Lindsay Bartholomew who is adamant that she has been set up and is not guilty of the crimes she’s in prison for. Not believing her ex husband could be a changed man, Madeline focuses on her investigations. It soon becomes clear that if the killer is not already in prison then he is still free and will continue his murder spree to remain safe himself. This story had me hooked from page one and kept me guessing until the last page, it has a fast paced and exciting storyline. The novel is full of drama and suspense, and I like how the author weaves the personal aspects of Madeline and Mike’s lives into the murder, mystery, crime story. It can be read as a standalone story, however the reader would understand more of Madeleine’s backstory if they have read the previous books in the story. I definitely recommend this novel and think that it is a five star read.

A Duke Never Forgets by Bianca Blythe is the third book in the Duke Hunters Club series. This book can be read as a stand-alone. From the moment I started reading this book I thoroughly enjoyed it. I thought the story itself was great and highly entertaining. I couldn’t wait to see how it all played out when the Duke regained his memory. I also really enjoyed reading about the main characters. I loved the whole enemies to lovers type romance and with a bout of amnesia thrown in for me it was even more exciting. The author has done a great job with this book. I enjoyed the writing style she uses as the whole book just seemed to flow really well. This is still a relatively new author to me but I am definitely enjoying what she has to offer!

This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed from beginning to end. I look forward to reading more from her in the future. This is a well written story that has characters that brought the story to life. I was pulled in right from the beginning and I found it easy to read. It is a shorter story that is fast paced and kept me turning pages. I had no problems connecting with the great characters. This is Olivia and Gabriel’s story. She thought she had everything in life until she realized how wrong she was. He simply does not believe in marriage or romance until she walks into his life. Will he change his thinking? What does fate have in store for these two? This made a hot-steamy read for a rainy afternoon. I highly recommend this book.
