Just One Song (Just One…Book 2) by Lynn Stevens – Review by Carrie Reed

Just One SongJust One Song by Lynn Stevens
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars!

Just One Song by Lynn Stevens is such a sweet romance. The dramatics, the story line and the characters were all perfect. Cami, is such a sweet girl, I don’t think there was one time throughout this story that I didn’t like her. Her relationship with her family is wonderful to read, and the way she loves her dad and is willing to give up her dreams and life to help her mom is so beautiful and sad. The relationship Cami had with her friends Miranda and Iris was just terrible. At first I was really loving the two best friends and then one misunderstanding and she loses the two people she needs the most when going through issues with her dad’s health and her rough ride singing backup for Hank. Her best friends were no good for her in my opinion, she deserves better. I really thought from reading the blurb that Dylan was going to be a super jerk but I liked his character a lot, and I really liked how he came to be in love with Cami. Their story is sweet even when she is treated like crap from Dylan’s father. The ending is one that you would see on a classic hallmark movie and left me satisfied. I definitely recommend this book.

By N.L. Holmes
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book The Crocodile Makes No Sound (The Lord Hani Mysteries Book 2) by N.L. Holmes. It pulled me in from the beginning and I was hooked. This story has Lord Hani in several serious situations at once. The danger to him and his family becomes very real. What will happen? Read this book to find out. I love the character of Lord Hani. When he is involved in an investigation, he does his best to find out the truth behind it. He is always walking a fine line with his personal beliefs and those of the current king’s. He is a man who loves his family and has friends that he can call on when needed. This story had me turning pages wondering what was going to happen next. The author does an amazing job of making me lose myself in the time period. Also, making both the storyline and the characters come alive. I enjoyed reading about many of the additional characters as they have been brought forward from the first book. This story includes secrets and danger. Don’t miss out on an exciting and entertaining book that you won’t be able to put down until the final page. I highly recommend reading it.

By Mina Chara
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading Hero High: Heartbreak Rebellion (Hero High Collections Book 2) by Mina Chara. It is a collection of stories that pulled me in, and I was hooked. Friday Fitzsimmons is back, and I just love reading about her. In these stories, she shows her emotional side as well as her strong side. Secrets are uncovered and a school needs to be saved. What will happen? Read this book to find out. This is a story that has action and danger. I was on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. The author does a wonderful job of making both the storyline and the characters come alive on the pages. Many additional characters are in the story. Some of them are helpful and then there are those with an evil agenda. Will they be stopped? Friday is a character that I have grown to love as the read this series and I can’t help but want her to be happy. She is also a character that I could root for her to succeed in all that she does. Don’t miss out on a collection of stories that you will not want to put down until you have read the final page. I highly recommend both these stories and the entire series.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I enjoyed this sweet romance story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites by her. This is a well developed story that has characters that really make this story pop. It is written with a ton of heart and romance. I enjoyed being pulled in right from the beginning. It is a fast paced story that I found to be engaging and kept me turning pages. This is a story about chances. Kara has one summer left before she goes off to college. She decides to make the best of it. She takes on a job where she never expected to meet Bear. Neither one expects to meet each other which makes their story even sweeter. I enjoyed watching them grow and their chemistry is off the charts. I had no issues connecting with them and they really made the story for me. I highly recommend this book.

True Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel Book 4) by India Kells – Review by Jana Teppih

True Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel #4)True Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

True Bastard is the fourth book in India Kells’ Dark Sparrow series and I tell you, she is killing it! I think I have read every single book she is written (well, not the paranormal ones) and whenever her name pops up on my radar, I run for it! Dark Sparrow series is about six bastard sons of an evil man and we have two more brothers to come so I cannot wait! You need to read the series in the order, trust me!
True Bastard gives us Liam Harker’s story who is a Chicago cop on a mission. When you read about his childhood, you heart will break for him and you will hate his father even more. He is trying to go through his father’s financials so that the brothers could cut off his money source but it is so complex so he needs some help … enters novice nun Sister Catriona Walsh who is one step away from taking her final vows … once you hear about Liam’s childhood, you understand the internal struggle he lives every single day he works with Catriona …
I love the universe that India has created and I also love how her different universes touch … add to this her collaboration with Maddie Wade and I promise you, once you pick up her books, you will never leave her again!

This is my first book by this author. I enjoyed it from beginning to end and I look forward to reading more from them. I enjoyed how well written this story is. It is easy flowing and understandable. I also found it to be engaging and fast paced. The characters bring the story to life with epic fantasy action. I had no problems connecting to them. This is a story about Grant. He has been labeled an outlaw because of learning to use a sword. Now fate has some other things in store for him. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what the fates have for him. He made a great character that kept me reading just to find out what happened next. He is strong and handsome to boot. This made a great afternoon read and I was happy I picked it up.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

True Bastard by India Kells is a Dark Sparrow Novel. This is a fantastic book that will have you hooked from start to finish. It is a gripping story that is exciting to read and really makes you root for the characters.
India Kells is an author that really knows how to create an intense book. But for me at the heart of all of her books are the characters. And these two are no different. I loved reading about Liam and Catriona. They were so different on the face of it however they fit together so well. They complimented each other. I got behind the two of the instantly and knew I was going to love their story.
This book is just as good as the previous ones I have read and with the way it ended I am so excited to read the next book in the series. This is a brilliant book and one I would highly recommend.

This is the second book in this series which I enjoyed just as much if not more than the first. This is a well developed story that has characters that make you feel part of the story. They made it easy to read and kept it engaging. I had no issues connecting with them as they kept me turning pages. There is alot going on in this story but the author did a great job of not making it confusing. The details are written in a way that made you want to know more and wanting to see what would happen next. This is not normally a book that I would read but it made a great afternoon read. It Comes From Within (House Valdis #2)It Comes From Within by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This the second book in the series and I highly recommend reading the first book in the series. This will provide you with the back story and introduce the characters. The description is a fantasy genre but it has many more elements in the story. There is sci-fi, danger, responsibility, secrets, tension, romance and magic to name a few. When the author has a vivid imagination, it makes the story come to life. It is what holds my attention from the very first page until the last page. Character building and relations also keeps the book interesting. In this particular story, I enjoyed the roller coaster ride I took with Xenobia. Xenobia’s storyline continues in book two. She is getting into every bit of trouble, not by her doing but by shadows she does not realize they are around. Danger is present and there is a crisis in the House of Valdis. There is drama and adventure around every corner. I will leave the review with this keep your mind totally open and the images will come to you. Enjoy the series and I cannot wait until the next book.

It Comes From Within (House Valdis #2)It Comes From Within by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It Comes From Within by Naomi Valkyrie is the second book in the House Valdis series. I highly recommend reading the first book before this because most of the characters are introduced there. This is a multi-faceted and complex fantasy book. The characters, especially Xenobia, are really deep and interesting. I really enjoy the storyline and it is interesting to see where the author is taking the story. I like the multiple layers of story and character development going on because it pushes the pace of the book and makes it almost impossible to set it down. This is not always one of my favorite genres but Naomi Valkyrie is making a convert of me. She writes and tells a story very well and keeps this reader engaged until the very last page. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

After some of Karina Cardinal’s recent adventures—her lover Mike Finnegan would call them scrapes, jams, or pickles—she’s more than ready to blow this D.C. pop stand for a short girls’ trip to Mexico. Until Jillian’s roller skate wreck blows their plan out of the water.

With Jilly injured and Mike working, her fellow lobbyist Rodrigo volunteers to share some sun, sand, and margaritas in Cancun. It’s tough to relax, though, knowing what’s in her suitcase. A package she promised to hand off to Mrs. Thundermuffin in Mexico.

Mrs. T’s evasive maneuvers around Karina’s questions wave more red flags than a bullfighter, leaving Karina no choice but to take a peek. Okay, so it’s not a kilo of something illegal. It’s an Egyptian death mask that turns out to be a magnet for crooks, conmen, kidnappers, and outright killers.

When the situation explodes into chaos, Karina and Rodrigo are lucky to have friends in the right place—at their backs. But they’re in one hell of a jam. And they could be going home in something tackier than a souvenir t-shirt—more like a body bag.

I would have to say that this is one of my favorites from Valerie Davisson. Her writing style is what holds my attention from the first page until the last. You need to pay attention to your surroundings because you may be missing so clues to assist you in the mystery. The story is about the property that is in high demand. Logan has a new murder to investigate. The characters are what keeps this thriller alive. It was quite dark when I finish and the little hairs on the back of my neck were standing on edge. I wanted Logan to help me get through the aftermath of the murder. Logan is a great character who has grown with every murder. I highly recommend this book for you to grow with Logan as well.

The agency has former Navy Seal Martin, as the CEO of Chase Security and he is transiting into the role nicely. Martin’s brother, Austin was shot and his high school sweetheart Elizabeth was the surgeon for his brother. Will Martin and Elizabeth restart their high school fling? Will figure out what is going on in their town? I highly recommend this story to find out the answers to these and many more questions.

Devil’s Claw: A Logan McKenna Mystery #3 (The Logan McKenna Series) by Valerie Davisson

Davisson has really done it again. This book is phenomenal and I really hope there’s more to the series. This is the third book in the Logan McKenna Mystery Series.

Logan is happy to have her daughter home although not how she wanted. When she gets the call from her daughter that she found otters Logan rushes to help her. Ben is still in her life and she couldn’t be happier.

Amy goes to the Otter Sanctuary only to find that something had happened. Logan gets worried when she doesn’t hear from Amy so she rushes to be by her daughter’s side. The quote I chose for Logan is: “You and Mike are great parents. You’ve given Haley a solid foundation. You’re doing all the right things. You’re giving her the chance to grow up. It’s going to be up to Haley. If it’s any consolation, I think she’s a great kid.”

Highly recommended for lovers of crime and drama.

This was my first book by AJ Eversley. It was the type of book I get so excited about that I can’t put it down. Sienna has spent her entire life inside the DEZ, a glorified orphanage for unwanted Marked kids. Fighting in the Underground isn’t about the thrill or the glory, though Sienna has achieved both, it’s about the money and a way out. Jayla is a Watcher. She’s been tasked with keeping her city safe from an enemy the citizens don’t even know exists. I can’t wait to see what she writes next, I love her writing style and how deep she writes these characters.
