Wow. What a truly fascinating story, I stated on book 4 and will definitely being going and reading the previous 3 books in this series, it was amazing. So funny with lots of twists and turns to keep the brain occupied. Asher is a Reaper who has decided to take a holiday and has left his gate open for all souls to wander through to the underworld as they please, only this isn’t exactly how the story goes, he soon learns that someone has closed the door and there are lost souls roaming around the French Quarter. Jasmine is a Necromancer (and also the reason Asher decided to take a break) and the last thing she wants to do is work with Asher the very hot Reaper. But how else are they going to stop New Orleans becoming the new hell? I really do recommend this book to anyone who loves a good laugh but also likes their paranormal romance too. It is epic.

This is a steamy romance. The plot was pretty straightforward and the story was smoothly written. Although I found it a bit predictable, I thought the premise of Olivia’s backstory was interesting. At first, Gabe seemed really entitled but overall the characters were likeable, if a bit lacking in depth. It was fast-paced and easy to read.

5 stars! I love India Kells! This is the fourth book in the series and it could be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the previous three, it is nice to be introduced to the brothers starting with the first book. I love how all of the brothers are half brothers and have formed bond so tight because of their one common goal, to take their father down. Liam and Catriona’s story had me hooked as much as the previous stories. The characters were nicely developed and the story was easy to follow and get lost in. I can totally understand Catriona’s choice to become a nun, but I can also see the strong attraction and pull she has to Liam, so of course I was rooting for her to ditch the sisterhood and get her man. Liam, I was happy to hear that he at least had some love growing up with his uncle, but being thrust into the world of his father, Jamison Finch, he knew nothing but violence and defiantly no love. Meeting Catriona I see him finding love in his life again, and he deserves it. This story has a lot of action, romance, drama, and suspense, it is the perfect combination. I really can’t wait to see what happens with the next brother Sam since that epilogue had me on the hook!

Alamir: Blood of Kaos Series by Nesa Miller. Let me start with the fact this was outside my read comfort zone but I’m trying to branch out and boy am I glad I did. From page one I knew I was in for an interesting story and I was not disappointed. The characters are complex and truly draw you into their world. The storyline is well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. This author has a wonderful way of keeping readers completely hooked and on the edge of their seats with the twists and turns. Even the smallest details are focused on and truly bring the story to life right before my eyes. I’m giving this story a four star review and highly recommend it. Looking forward to more from this author for sure!

Shattered is the first book in the Rhodes Family seriesby Lisa Wood. This is an erotic office romance- with plenty of sizzle, secrets, drama, emotion, and some insta-love. Ms. Wood is a new-to-me author so I was curious to see what her story would be like. I did enjoy the story and will definitely be reading the rest of the series. The book is quite short, which makes for a quick and easy read- but there were a few things that didn’t sit right with me. The story is told from multiple POV’s- which I thought was a little ‘over-kill’ for such a short story. I get where the author was coming from, and I appreciate the added perspectives, but I think it would have worked better if the story was slightly longer as it did feel a little rushed at times, feeling as if the author ‘bent’ the story to fit the smaller space which gave some of the scenes and situations a slightly contrived feel. The series focuses on the Rhodes family siblings- there are six siblings (2 girls and 4 boys)- and this is the eldest, Gabriel Rhodes’ story. While there are only two books in the series, so far, I imagine that the series will progress further, with each sibling getting their own instalment- hopefully that means at least a 6 book series(?). But here is where I had a bit of an issue with this instalment- the story introduces us to Gabe’s siblings and gives us snippets and a bit of a snapshot into the life of one of his sister’s in particular- who I later discover is the subject of Book Two- now, there were some revelations in this story which I consider to be ‘spoilers’ for her story- so I was a little perplexed as to why include that in this book, especially since she has her own book. I know the author was probably laying the groundwork for that next book- but I think this could have been achieved without revealing so much. But that is just my personal opinion, and it didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of this book. I will have to wait and see how knowing these little snippets will affect my reading of Book Two. There were a few editing issues with wrong words and/or wrong spelling, as well as some grammar issues. But these were fairly minor and again, didn’t detract too much from my overall enjoyment of the story. They just ‘pulled’ me out of the story when I encountered them- and I honestly feel that this book could have been quite stellar, if it had just been a little longer, and with a little more attention to detail from the editor/proof-reader. I really enjoyed meeting Gabe, Olivia- and the rest of this family- I found it easy to invest in them and the outcome of their story. I am quite intrigued by what the author has in store for us in future additions.

It’s been a while since I last read a regency romance novel, but I really enjoyed this one. Although at times the plot and characters get a little stereotypical and predictable, with an ‘enemies to lovers’ type of storyline, I really enjoyed the humour. The main characters Genevieve and Sebastian were mostly believable too. This was a quick, easy read.

5 Star The Lightning Horse (Empire at Twilight Book 1) by N.L. Holmes is wonderfully written Historical Fiction that is fast paced and packed with action. I absolutely love all historical genre’s. This author does an amazing job of keeping your attention from the beginning to the end. The attention to detail she has put into this story is simply amazing. There are some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. This story takes us on a journey to Hittite Empire. If you’re a historical fan then I highly recommend this book. Even if your not a historical genre fan id still highly recommend reading this book . I can promise its worth the read . I can’t wait to read more from this Author.

This was a book I was highly anticipating, having read and loved the Karina Cardinal Mystery #1. This book was even better. I really enjoyed the more overtly political nature of this novel. It was fast-paced and flowed smoothly, and the plot and subplots were all thrilling and intriguing. Karina is a fascinating character, making impulsive, borderline implausible decisions, but she’s a strong female protagonist who’s also flawed and doesn’t always make the right decisions. A highly readable book.

True Bastard: A Dark Sparrow Novel by India Kells. This author never lets me down. Ever time I finish one story I always think to myself “this is the best one, no way will they be better in the next one!” And every single time this author blows my mind with the world she creates with words. This author knows that perfect balance of steam and storyline. The characters are complex and relatable, they immediately grab your attention and I promise you they won’t let you rest until their story has been told. I simply couldn’t put this book down, definitely found myself up way later than I should be but it was so very much worth all the lost sleep. The storyline is gripping and even the smallest details are focused on and written well. I highly recommend reading all of these books. Liam and Catriona will have you completely hooked and you won’t mind one bit getting lost in their story world for a while. I’m giving this story a huge like super huge five stars and highly recommended it!

This is the eighth book in this series and although I believe you need to read this series from the beginning, I caught on to enough reading reviews for previous books in the series for this one to make sense. I do plan on going back and reading the previous one though. Detective Edward Petrosky just comes off leave from a shooting. Stressed to the limit, when the police chief, a friend, is kidnapped, he kicks it in high gear when it becomes personal to him. He knows he has limited time before this killer gets away. There is so much going on in this book. Such a compelling and gripping story to dive into! Highly recommend this book. Meghan is rocking it!

This book took me on a great adventure of action and wonderful characters. The story line kept me engaged and on the edge of my seat. Etain didn’t know who she could trust, and I felt like I was right there with her. I didn’t know what was going to happen next. Etain is a very strong character and we get to see her grow in this story. There are some other really great characters in this book that you won’t want to miss out on. I cannot wait to read what’s next in this series. I highly recommend this book.

Butler has done it again. Karina is at it again in this new book and Butler has rightfully outdone herself. This is a fantastic book and I can’t wait for the next.
Karina, Rina, or K.C., is at it again with the trouble. She is following her sister down the rabbit hole, but it’s her sister. Things aren’t as they seem and Karina gets in trouble again. The quote I chose for Karina is: “No, don’t ‘Karina’ me. Listen, it’s not like I plan to be part of the raid. I’ll wait in the car. But I am coming with you. And if you do find her, I want to be there. I need to be there.”
Mike, FBI boyfriend, is once again out of town. When he gets another frantic call from Karina. This time he knows what’s going on and can’t be mad. The quote I chose for Mike is: “I can’t leave you alone for a second, can I? Between you and your sister, you’ve got disaster written all over.”
Highly recommended for anyone who loves a good crime and romance. Ellen is fantastic.

This is my third book by Jessica Aiken-Hall. Each one of these books have been awesome and this one was just as amazing as the first two. The story is suspenseful and had me turning pages to find out what is happening. Valerie Williamson Phillips is still our main female character. This book is different in that Valerie has to protect herself and let those around her help defend her life she’s built. I don’t want to give spoilers but when your past comes back to find you, do you run or face it head on? Such a great book!

I enjoyed this historical fiction crime story by N.L. Holmes and as it’s book one in a new series, I look forward to future novels. The story centres around a young Hittite charioteer who discovers that what he believed had been a chariot accident that killed his father and also maimed his grandfather was in fact an act of sabotage aimed at the king. Setting out on an adventure to find his fathers killer, the young man learns that good and evil are often not what they seem. The novel is based in the Hittite empire, present day Turkey, in around 1250 BCe, and the author really bought this era and place to life with their detailed descriptions of time and place. The characters are well defined and interesting and I particularly liked the main character and felt invested in his search for his fathers killer. It is this underlying mystery that runs throughout the whole story, which had enough drama and twists and turns in it to keep me hooked and guessing. There were a lot of characters to keep up with and also place names to remember but the glossary at the back was helpful with this as was the map at the start. I could tell whilst reading the novel that the author had obviously done a lot of research as this comes through in her writing and I liked the fact that there was a historical notes section at the end which confirmed this and tells the reader what is fact and fiction.

Rhys also loves Luna and when the pair finally admit there feelings the need to work together to defeat the evil that is coming to tear them apart. Can the two lovers relationship and bond protect them and make them stronger or will something from Luna’s past destroy them both.
I loved this story. The romance element between friends Luna and Rhys was really well written and the mystery and magical aspects just brought the whole story together for me.

Drifting Falling: Dairy of a Call Girl Suicide by AJ Ullman is a deep and thought provoking story that follows a young girl on a difficult and emotional journey. She has been through so much in her life and you could really feel that fight in her that is what got her through the things she had experience. While you might not be able to relate to the exact thing she has been through it was so easy to connect with Ripley. I felt the emotions and her pain on each page of the book which really added so much more to the story. This is the kind of book that leaves you thinking about it well after it has ended. I thought that I was a powerful story and on that everyone should read.

Enchanted Passion by Toya Richardson is the fourth book in the Protector series. This is a fast paced and exciting book that really keeps you turning the pages. The characters are really interesting to read about and the connection between them that is so strong. You really engage with them while reading the book. I enjoyed the overall story as well. I thought it was exciting and really kept the momentum going throughout the whole book. It is a strong addition to the series and a book I very much enjoyed. If you like paranormal romance then this is definitely a series for you.

Alamir is the first book in Nesa Miller’s Blood of Kaos series. It’s an exhilarating fantasy story centring on a young woman, Etain, whose magical powers have brought her to a world vaster and more dangerous than she could have imagined. Miller has created a really detailed and grounded fantasy world. There is something of the urban fantasy to it, with some events taking place in the modern human realm, but there are many unfamiliar and original aspects of the world that we get to explore through the story. I particularly liked the use of Celtic languages. The Welsh in particular added to the sense of place and it was so wonderful to encounter the languages when I wasn’t expecting it! (and don’t worry – translations are provided so you won’t miss out on important information). My favourite character is Spirit. I appreciated how much agency she had, even when underestimated by others. Her observation and understanding of others, as well as other powers such as healing, lead her to be a really important and loveable character! For me, this is a five-star book. A thoroughly enjoyable fantasy with plenty of original and unexpected aspects. I would recommend it to fans of supernatural stories with tight, messy family relationships.

Sienna is a young girl who is about to graduate from her school in the DEZ where she is living after being abandoned by her parents at birth, nothing seems too untoward about that, except that because of this she is one of the Marked. This means that she is not allowed outside of the DEZ and as such, not know what the outside world is like and she takes risks by actually going outside and into the arena in the city of Cytos, but she is doing it for a reason, she is preparing for life outside the DEZ, so as well as her studies during the week, she goes into the arena on a weekend so she can provide for herself and her friends when they do graduate.
Jayla is a Watcher and is part of a secret force who keep the citizens of Cytos safe from those they have no idea about, she stops those who would want to harm the population and maintains the secrecy that has been around for over one hundred and fifty year and she has done her job successfully until now.
This story begins with Sienna in the ring and fighting her opponent so that she can remain the Champion, although she has to cover up her marks and her face so that she is not recognised as one of the Marked. After she finishes the fight, she is confronted by her friend who has also sneaked out of the DEZ to find her, as they walk back together, they visit another friend on the way.
As both Sienna and Jayla go about their lives, there is an explosion at a genetics lab within the city limits and this event is a shock and mystery as the explanation is a gas leak, however, this is suspicious to both of them because of the use of robotics as a means to ensure the safety of the population.
As both parties decide to investigate what happened, they realise that something isn’t right and that all is not well in the worlds they both live in. What they both don’t realise is that the challenges and barriers which will be thrown up in front of them, will be something that neither is expecting or anticipating.
What will happen once Sienna and her friends graduate? Will Jayla be able to figure out what the significance of the explosion is? Will either of them be able to carry on as they are, or will their futures be more than they are capable of facing?
The answers are in this fantastic book and they’re ready and waiting to be discovered as you are drawn into Jayla and Sienna’s worlds and lives. Be prepared for a rollercoaster ride of emotion, as you delve through this fast paced and exciting read.

Wow Never thought I’d get into this stylebook but hey you never know until you read it I guess. The author did a great job with the character build-up and making the story flow very well.
I have to admit from the start this isn’t usually the type of book I usually read. I was ultimately surprised how easy it was to read and it was very relatable with the relationships, the work environment, and the goings on that seemed to happen around the characters. This was very well written. I could see the characters and the places that they were in as if it were in a movie or I were there with them in the EC. It was also kind of neat to read about a more local destination, I haven’t come across a lot of books set in Michigan. This book certainly kept me on my toes and I am curious to know if it is going to continue with the relationships that formed during the entire story. If you are into some ghostly story telling, this is a great book to get into. It isn’t at all what I expected in a ghost story and that is what made me like it so much.

On With the Butter! by Heidi Herman is informative and thought provoking as it gives some ideas to self-help with retirement and living life to the fullest. Heidi gives us stories from those around her that are inspiring and full of wisdom, I mean just look at her 94 year old mother! She gives us something where activities and strategies can be used and that is purposeful not only for later in life but could be utilised now. It is something that is easy to read and a little fun. If you are at that stage where you are wondering “what comes next” grab a copy and have a read.

Enchanted Passion (The Protectors Series Book 4) by Toya Richardson is a paranormal romance and is the story of Luna, a witch and Rhys, an elemental. It is fast paced and full of surprises making my favourite of the series. It has a little bit of everything from witches and magic and shifters. Love comes in all shapes and sizes and when the universe deems it fated there is not much you can do but hang on for the ride. Toya always gives us that little bit more, that something that makes her worlds and characters charming and makes you feel a part of it. If you love a good paranormal romance with a few twists then look no further.

Road Tripped: Satan’s Devils MC Utah #1 by Manda Mellett. I’ve come to expect this author to always bring her absolute best when in comes to storyline and characters. Once again I’m very happy to say I wasn’t in anyway disappointed to see she’d done it again. Another fantastic book to add to not only my favorites list but also to my re-read list. The characters are complex and relatable, they immediately had me completely hooked and I couldn’t put it down nor did I want to even when I’d reached the end. This is book one in the series and I’m so excited to see where the author takes readers next. Well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. Five big stars!

I love this series! Valerie (Val) Williamson Phillips is working with the ladies in her “trauma” group in a way, but the group is now more like a group of close friends. They support each other through rough times, some more than others. As Val is working through her loss of her Gran, she finds herself finally ready to press charges against her childhood abuser.
Make sure to read the books in order, the characters and story build from one book to the next. Each of the characters will connect you more to the story and keep you wanting more.

Old and New: The Enchanted Wedding Dress Book 1 (The MacLellan Sisters Trilogy)

Old and New is the first book in the MacLellan Sisters Trilogy. This was the first book I have read by Lucinda Race but as I have found often with new to me authors lately, it will not be my last. I am the middle child, between two sisters so the sisterhood aspect of this novel, or trilogy is what drew me in initially. Old and New was an engaging read with imagery that transports you to the same time and place as the characters. I was interested in the story and the characters from the first page to the last and I am excited to know there are more books to come. If you are in the mood for a charming read, I really do recommend this one.

Well there goes that relaxing fishing trip… One phone call and those infamous “Can I count on you?” words take Jake and Cody from a relaxing Alaskan fishing trip to a race to save the world.
This one hit close to home, with all going on in our world today there were more than a few times I sat thinking about things I had just read. The action and suspense was vintage Mark Nolan, I love this series. The progression of these characters, even the secondary has been amazing to watch. I was worried about Jake and Sarah as they have been written to this point but there’s always hope and this installment gave that to me. Cody is with no doubt one of my favorite characters ever. Every time I pick a book up in this series I pray because God forbid anything happens to our Cody!
You can absolutely read this as a stand alone but don’t. You really get to know these characters by reading the books before and why not? It is an amazing series and this author hits each one out of the ballpark. I read this in one sitting because putting it down was impossible!
So excited when I saw there’s another coming…I can not wait!!
