Accountability (Scope of Practice Book 3) by Jessica Aiken-Hall – Review by Angela Hayes

Accountability (Scope of Practice #3)Accountability by Jessica Aiken-Hall
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Accountability is the third book in the Scope of Practice series by Jessica Aiken-Hall. As I have said before, this is an intriguing, thought-provoking, and suspenseful mystery crime series- each book building on the previous release with its own engrossing story that’s packed full of intrigue, mystery, emotion, and gripping drama.
If you are new to this series, I highly recommend reading the other two books before starting on this one, as knowing what happened in those two books will give you a better perspective of what has brought us to the events here as well as a lot of backstory on Valerie- which will enhance your reading experience of this instalment.
Valerie Williamson has been through quite a lot since we met her back in book one. This book sees her being tested like never before. Her past is haunting her and causing her life to spin out of control. She is going to have to face her demons if she has any chance of getting her life back on track. But to do so means laying a lot on the line.
I wonder what’s in store for us next?

Thank you, Jessica Aiken-Hall!

5/5 Stars

Just One Song (Just One… #2) by Lynn Stevens

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. It can be read as a stand alone, but it is a part of Just One Series. Stevens has really done an amazing job.

Cameron, Cam, is trying out for her biggest dream. When she’s told that she got it, but it wasn’t by the choice of a person leading the show. Things at home get tough and the show is cancelled. The quote I chose for Cam is: “You’re crazy. I mean, you’re this gorgeous rock god. You’re so far out of my league, it’s not funny. But I’m so glad you chose me.”

Dylan, a rock star’s son, comes to Brandon because he wants to spend time with his dad. He falls for someone, but things don’t last. When he gets a call saying that there’s a band who needs him he jumps at the chance. The quote I chose for Dylan is: “I love you, Cam. Let’s make beautiful music together.”

Highly recommended for romance lovers.

Road Tripped (Satan's Devils MC Utah #1)Road Tripped by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Road Tripped by Manda Mellett a five-star read that will trip your emotions. This is number one in the Satan’s Devils MC Utah series and shows us that this chapter and series will be another great, bringing great characters and stories alive. I don’t know how they have done it but Manda Mellett has written so many amazing stories and manages to keep it fresh and together and can still pull the rug from under you, then just as you are getting your feet under you again, boom there the rug goes again, normally I would start to get a bit ‘really’ at this point but I don’t know this author just pulls it together and makes me desperate for more. This author has a great way of showing us that just because someone may at first appear broken in some way, doesn’t mean they aren’t complete.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Heed the description – this book is for mature readers only. Also not one you will want to read in public. Wood is a new author to me and although there is much to be cautioned of from an explicit standpoint there is also genuine emotion at the root with a strong storyline. I found this to be a quick read and one that I enjoyed.

It dances a fine line between skepticism and humor and truthfully provides a fun look into the new world our lead character finds herself in following a major life event. The first chapter did a fantastic job setting up the story and the character and simply took off from there. Truly delightful, I look forward to seeing where the series takes me next.

This caper left me glued to my seat. I thoroughly enjoy how Willis weaves her stories together and this latest installment in The Sisters Texas series is another winner. I really enjoy how the characters are tangible, flawed, and downright funny. There is humor even in the dark and twisted. This whodunit isn’t a scare fest but it immediately jumps in and makes you wonder exactly who Rose is and what in the world has happened? If you’ve ever lived in a small town you’ll appreciate how true this rings in situation and dynamic. I have enjoyed each of the books in this series and hope to read more from this author soon. Road Tripped (Satan’s Devils MC Utah #1) by Manda Mellett – Review by Angela Hayes

Road Tripped (Satan's Devils MC Utah #1)Road Tripped by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Road Tripped is the first book in new Satan’s Devils MC Utah Series by Manda Mellett. I have been follow the Satan’s Devils since the very beginning of the original series and even though there have been many books between then and now, things never get ‘stale’ or boring- I know I can always rely on Ms. Mellett to deliver a story that not only captures my attention, but she always manages to add something that will surprise me, too- something unexpected that makes me sit up and take notice- and this book certainly did that in spades.
Road has been sent to Utah by his Prez, to check up on the Satan’s Devils chapter there. It should have been a pretty straightforward assignment, meant to take his mind off his own dramas. But when he arrives, he soon discovers that there is much more to the situation that he ever imagined. What happens next makes for a really great read.
So, if you love a really beautifully written and riveting MC story- with complex, quirky and loveable characters, sizzling scenes, suspense, action, and drama- all wrapped within an original plot- then this is definitely a book you won’t want to miss. Be warned though, you may discover that one of Ms. Mellett’s addictive books may not be enough!

Thank you, Ms. Mellett!

I’ve been patiently waiting for this story and it didn’t let me down one bit! If you haven’t read them already, start with book 1, as it helps understand what is going on and why, even though this could be read as a standalone.

Liam and Catriona were great to read about. They had me hooked and waiting to see what was coming next with everything. This author weaves such a good story, it’s hard to put her books down once you start, so tell the family to make their own dinner as you won’t have the time to do so!
And now I wait for book 5!!

Xenobia: House Valdis Origins by Naomi Valkyrie was a great, and quick read! Naomi did a great job with the back story of this main character from the House of Valdis series! You don’t have to read the series to understand the origin, it is a great stand-alone novella. This was also a super short read as well. I immensely enjoyed reading this novel, and it was great to be back in the world Valkyrie created. I can’t wait to read not only the next origin book, but the next House of Valdis installment as well. I highly recommend this story!

Old and New: The Enchanted Wedding Dress (The MacLellan Sisters Trilogy Book 1) by Lucinda Race, was really a great love story. There are so many things about this story that makes it a great love story. I think what I like the most about it, is the strength of the family, how the family bonds are threaded throughout the entire book. Not only with the sisters in this little tale but also the brothers. Because you know if you have a love story involving sisters then you also have to have brothers. This is a story about three sisters, Jamie, Kenzie, and Grace and their friends Steve and Caleb. It’s a love story that you will feel good reading and you will feel even better at the end. Do be aware there is one little mature situation but it in no way distracts from the story. When you need a feel good read this one will do the trick.

I love the Satan’s Devils series. You get pulled into their world and can’t help but love them all. I was very excited to find out that the author started a new chapter. For anyone who has read her books, you are in for a few surprises in this one.

After the accident, Roadrunner’s life changed. Drummer deciding Road needed a breather to clear his head, sent him to the Utah chapter to check things out. Never in a million years did Road expect to find what he did.

The book is filled with edge of your seat drama, wonderful characters and some romance. This is an amazing start to the new chapter. I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Just One Song by Lynn Stevens is the second book in the Just One Series. This is a story all about second chances and finding romance even when it doesn’t seem like you will.
Cami and Dylan and such loveable characters. They each have their flaws and yet they both just seem to work together so well. You can feel the emotions between them and the connection that they share. The author has done a great job of making them relatable and engaging.
The overall story is enjoyable as well. It was a fairly easy book to read but one of those you could easily get lost in for a few hours. The story was well developed and had a great host of supporting characters throughout. It added to the book and made it all the better. This is a good book and certainly worth reading.

I really enjoyed this book. In this story there are shifters, elementals, and witches. The plotline moves quickly, but not so quick that you do not know what is going on. There are twists and turns, ups and downs, and even loopy loops. That is what kept me reading until I was done. The characters are fully developed and engaging. There is something about Luna that I have really enjoyed. I could see myself being her friend. What can I say about Rhy except Luna is attracted to him. It seems as if Rhy is interested in Luna. There is one little problem. There is something that is keeping them away from each other. Does Rhy and Luna ever overcome this problem? Will they separate without knowing if they could be together? I highly recommend reading this book to get to the answers of these questions and many more.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is book four in Toya Richardson’s ‘The Protectors Series’ and although some of the characters cross over it can be read as a standalone story. This story concentrates on Luna, a witch and Rhys an Elemental. The pair are both living within the Protector community where witches and Elementals are not supposed to fall in love. However, Luna and Rhys can not deny the chemistry and connection between them. When Luna and her mother have to return to their homeland following Luna having horrific visions about their coven Rhys must decide if he will take a chance at love. Having returned to Romania Luna and her mother must take part in a ritual to set their souls free but Luna’s past puts her life in danger.
I enjoyed this paranormal romance with a forbidden lovers element to it and felt fully immersed in the storyline. The connection between Luna and Rhys really came through in the narrative and I was cheering them both on to their happy ever after! The plot is fast paced and full of drama and suspense as well as romance and paranormal aspects including, witches, Elementals and rogue shifters. An entertaining read and a great addition to the series.

5 stars!
Build-A-Book Workshop by Danielle Ackley-McPhail is an interesting read. This book is a nice guide to show the steps needed to take to make sure your book has a nice finished look and that the content and layout comes across as well made and thought out. There is a lot of book terminology thrown at you and honestly, I liked to understand what some of the words or abbreviations I have seen, what they really mean and stand for, even if I am not interested in creating or publishing my own book. The layout of the book goes from the cover, with choosing a nice eye catching image to the back of the book where an author’s biography might go. It was easy to read and follow and the tips that the author gives, using her own personal experiences was great, especially when she lays out a list of questions, Did you remember this? Did you forget that?. If I were to look into publishing my own book, it is a nice list to have to makes sure I didn’t forget anything or to make sure my book is ready to publish. The book is a quick read but packed with a lot of information to anyone starting out in their publishing journey.
