A Merry Texan Christmas (The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge Book 3) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Jennifer Gordon

A Merry Texan Christmas (Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge, #3)A Merry Texan Christmas by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance with added Christmas spirit which put me in the festive mood. I have enjoyed the two previous books in ‘The Prentice Brothers of Sweet Ridge’ series and I also loved this one. As usual the author brings us great characters in,Trey and Maggie. Former baseball star Trey Prentice is happy with his new life as a bookstore owner in his hometown of Sweet Ridge, Texas. Although he loved his competitive and elite lifestyle in New York he is enjoying a more quiet life and being able to spend time with his family and friends. In the lead up to Christmas Trey excitedly decorates the bookstore and joins in with the town’s holiday traditions but soon finds himself doing battle with Sweet Ridge’s own Miss Christmas. Miss Christmas is actually Christmas loving librarian Maggie Watson who each year decorates the shop windows and spreads Christmas cheer around the town. Maggie is unimpressed when she discovers she has competition in cocky Trey and is determined not to let him take away her Christmas crown. However, when the couples verbal sparring turns into flirting Maggie wonders if there’s more to life than books and Christmas but her past insecurities threaten to get in the way of her happiness. This is a wonderfully heartwarming romance between two very likeable and relatable characters and I was cheering them on hoping they would get their happy ending. The storyline is full of romance and Christmas vibes and the narrative flows well making this a lighthearted and easy read. A great book to get anyone into the Christmas spirit!
