I really enjoyed this Sci fi, time travelling tale. The author does an amazing job with with characters and also creating the world of the present and the future. It also covers the theme of rich (Haveall) and poor (Havenots) and how their lives are different.
Tommy Canada is a successful man who is part owner of a company called NORML. Along with his partner Win they are working on nanobots that means that your body will be able to heal itself. They are on the edge of making it real until Tommy gets a visit from Havall 16.
Havall 16 is from the future she has come back to seek out Tommy for his help. She needs him to close down his business and stop making these technological advances. Even though his future is good with him being wealthy and famous his creations also mean loads of people end up loving in poverty.
Will Tommy heed Havall 16 warning? Will he chose his own wealth and life over everyone elses? And will his partner Win be understand of Tommy’s reasons to destroy everything they have worked for or will he be against Tommy?

This is a lighthearted, funny tale about a crow shifter trying to save her town. The town of Shift Creek is a mixture of shifters and humans. The creek that runs through it was blessed with healing qualities for all shifters. Unfortunately, the spell is tied to a family of warlocks, the Rainecourts. Thirty years ago, after the death of his wife, Martin left the town with his two sons. Slowly but surely, the magic has been dwindling and now it’s at a critical level. Alice is trying her best to find a solution but it seems they really need a Rainecourt. When someone moves into the Rainecourt House, Alice’s hopes get raised once again only to be dashed when she finds out his name is Donovan Drake. There is more to Donovan than he is letting on, he has his secrets to protect. Read the book to find out what they are.
I absolutely love Carrie Pulkinen. Her books are interesting and funny. There is always romance with a supernatural twist. The story is quirky and interesting. The characters are likeable and relatable. The addition of Marty the farting mongoose had me in stitches. I believe that this is a great start to this series.

Carrie Pulkinen’s paranormal romance novel Flipping The Bird is an enchanting tale set in a small town called Shift Creek. The town received its name from the magical creek that reversed its flow on the full moon. The inhabitants of the town are magical beings that can shift to an animal form, like Alice’s ability to become a crow and her friend’s ability to change to a raccoon. Unfortunately the creek is in jeopardy as the warlock that enchanted the water is dead and only his family bloodline of Rainecourts can manage the creek. Sadly, his two known sons think very little of the town and refuse to help. One day a new inhabitant of the abandoned Rainecourt mansion appears. Donovan Drake automatically attracts Alice and she changes to her crow form to investigate who he is. She sees he has a talking mongoose familiar and she automatically assumes he is a warlock. When she leaves from his balcony she picks up a shiny green amulet from his trash can. Little does she know that the amulet is a necessity for Donovan as his magic powers are locked and he has less than a month to prevent losing them forever. Donovan runs into Alice at her store and both immediately feel a connection. The remainder of the book shows the building of a romantic relationship between the two. Does Donovan show his true issue with his powers and his heritage? Does Alice discover the power held in the amulet? Will Shift Creek lose its magic powers and disappear?
I found that Flipping The Bird was a very quick read as I finished it in one sitting. The explicit sexual content as well as the profanity makes this story for mature readers. I enjoyed the witty humor that Pulkinen included with the story. The ending of the story was an unexpected one but I felt that it was a bit rushed. I would have liked the descriptions of the scenery to be more thorough and the dialogue to have been better developed. I did like the overall story but wished the book was longer.

4 Stars Echoes: Lucifer and the Dark Goddess by Nikki Broadwell is a paranormal dystopian adventure that will pull you in from the beginning and doesn’t let go till the end. I love this authors style of writing and attention to detail. She’s definitely a one click author for me. This is my favorite yet. Feirin has lost her memory and has not a single clue who she is or what she does. She goes in search of help thinking she might get help from the police but all that does is bring on more problems. Follow along with Feirin on her journey and see what happens next. I highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read more from this Author.

Flipping the Bird: A Paranormal Chick Lit Novel (Shift Creek Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen. Ok this book was everything I was looking for in a great read! The characters were so easy to connect with and they pulled me in right from the get go. Usually I have to really be in the mood for paranormal type books like really in the mood but this one sounded fun so I figured what the heck. And boy was I not disappointed. It was a great storyline that had me so captured I lost track of time and I was completely fine with that. It was fun getting lost with these characters. It’s well written and paced nicely. Can’t wait to see where this author takes readers next. Five stars all the way and highly recommended!

The Graceful Ghost by Eleanor Dixon is a wonderful story for a Young person to read. Its about wanting something more than anything and finding out that sometimes there are more important things than what you want. Its about finding happiness in the happiness of others and turning loose of the things that hold you back. You find all of this wrapped up in a sweet little story about friendships and encouragement. If your looking for a great book for a book minded young girl who loves all things ballet, this one will do the trick, and you will enjoy it too.

I Once Was Lost, But Now I’m Found: Daisy and the Olympic Animal Sanctuary Rescue by Laura Koerber. This book stole my animal loving heart. This isn’t my usually reading but I simply pass it up. This book was definitely well written. Daisy is just one of the many animals out there who have hard stories to tell. I found myself of the verge of tears more than once. As an animal lover it’s hard to hear or imagine what they can be put through. I found this book to be full of great information and that’s what the world could use more of. The cover is also another reason I picked this book up it’s definitely a beautiful cover. I’ll definitely be giving more thought to these types of books as we could all use more information in our lives. Four big stars and highly recommended!

Dance of Hearts: A Cinderella Regency Romance Retellingis the first book in the Historical Fantasy Fairytale Retellings series by Byrd Nash. I have read a few of Ms. Nash’s other books and enjoyed them, so when I saw this pop up as a recommended read, I grabbed a copy and dove in. As the title would suggest, this is a historical romance set in 1816- taking the beloved fairytale, Cinderella and giving it a bit of a twist. There’s more to Melinda Wychwood than meets the eye, as we soon discover. After the death of her father- Melinda’s cousin takes ownership of the house relegating Melinda to servant, in her own home. Things take an interesting turn when a former childhood friend returns- bringing secrets, hidden agendas, and revelations to the fore- which gave the story added intrigue and definitely pulled me in. This is a short story, with a brisk pace- which made for a quick and easy read. It is a sweet, clean, romantic fantasy- with paranormal elements, magic, history, drama, and the satisfying happily ever after we expect from our fairytales. Intriguing. Entertaining. Original.

The Singer and Her Song (Empire at Twilight Book 2) by N.L. Holmes. This author continues to impress me with each book I pick up. This author knows how to write a unique story that will have readers intrigued and hoping for more. The storyline was definitely one that drew me in from the beginning and I liked getting lost in the pages. Characters are complex and relatable. Uqnitum is as unique as her name and I really liked following her story it was a great way to spend my time in a book world. Storyline was well written and paced nicely, the attention to even the smallest details are something I appreciate about this author. I’m really looking forward to more from this author. I’m usually more for a more here and no type of read but this author definitely knows how to pull me in to her older times type stories. Four stars and highly recommended!

The Graceful Ghost is a sweet and whimsical Children’s story by Eleanor Dixon. The story has some paranormal details, ghosts, spells, magic, ballet school/dancing, music, historical details, self-discovery, following your dreams, being true to yourself, friendship, drama, mean girls, teenage angst, and plenty of fun. Grace is a ghost whose home for the past 200 years has been converted into a boarding school focused on ballet training. The dance school ignites Grace’s love of dancing, leaving her yearning to see ballet dancing come to life on stage- witness a grand production for herself. That should be simple, right- after all her friend Rodney, who is also a ghost, can come and go as he pleases. But as things turn out, there is a spell that ties Grace to the house. So, if she has any chance of ever fulfilling her wish- then she will need to find a way to break the spell. Let the fun and adventure begin. A great little story for all ages!

Flipping the Bird: A Paranormal Chick Lit Novel (Shift Creek Book 1) By Carrie Pulkinen
This was a great read. It kept me entertained throughout. I found it funny, romantic, a bit mysterious and it had wonderful characters. Alice and Donovan were keeping secrets from each other for various reasons and they could have avoided a lot of headaches if they would have been honest from the start, but of course what fun would that be. I really enjoyed the banter and playfulness between Alice and Megan. Donovan and Alice had an instant attraction, but can anything come of it? This is a must read to fid out what happens to these characters and their town. I highly recommend this book, I can’t wait to read what’s next.

I seem to be in an Amy McKinley kick lately – every book has been a joy to read! Broken Circle didn’t disappoint. This first nook in the Gray Ghost series, it has love, intrigue, suspense, awesome characters, and so much more. Alex and Olivia seem to have a great relationship at least that’s what Olivia believes. One day she overhears a phone conversation that makes her wonder what Alex might be hiding. It doesn’t help that Alex doesn’t want kids and Olivia happens to find herself pregnant. You won’t want to miss the what happens! The Narrator, Regan Brown, does a wonderful job with the different characters and adds to the story.

Nite Fire: Flash Point (Volume 1) AUDIO BOOK by C.L. Schneider was such a great listen. I loved the world and character development. Such an intricate world with so many actors. Dahlia just came to life for me. The narrator was great at bringing characters to life and made dialogue easy to follow along. The twists and turns kept me on my toes, I had no idea what would happen next!

Wow is about the only word I can use to describe this book. This book has a realistic feeling to the plotline. It evokes so many emotions to make this book feel real. The characters are complex with many personality traits to make them real. The attention to detail is what makes this story so interesting. Feirin is the main character in this book. She has lost all her memories and has no idea who she is. The only clue to her identity is a necklace and a tattoo. One would think that the police would be some assistance and that is further from the truth. This story is rated R and that should not be taken lightly. I highly recommend this book. There is the warning that once you start reading this book you will not want to put it down.

Unbroken Vow by Bree M. Lewandowski was a really good read. I thoroughly enjoyed it, even though it threw me off a bit and wasn’t quite what I was expecting. I was thrilled to read this, after seeing the beautiful cover art and reading the synopsis. I was not expecting a mix of modern and medieval in this story. And the time was never really set well, so events would happen and I could never tell when they were taking place. I enjoyed reading this novel and it was great but it took me a while to actually get into it. I was thrown off and was expecting something better than what I got. I can’t wait to read from this author in the future though!

This is the story of Grace, the ghost of a little girl who is bound to Amberwood Hall, the place she was born and died in, she wants to be able to leave, but can’t and Lauren, a young girl who wants to dance but cannot let herself do it with the addition of fun loving Rodney, a fellow ghost of a stable boy and friend of Grace’s. It starts with Grace and Rodney sat in a tree watching the new arrivals to the school pull up in their fancy cars ready for the days auditions, they are talking about who Grace might be able to help to realise their dream so she can realise hers, but none of the girls are standing out as yet, Grace is getting a little frustrated but can still laugh at Rodney when he tries to do ballet as he leaps out of the tree and straight into the path of a car, this is where Grace has a feeling she may have found her girl. Next she goes into the changing rooms to see if she was right, as she listens to the conversations, she hears the same old things and moves further in, then she finds her, Lauren, as she gets her number, her mum suggests she warms up, Grace notices how flexible and soft she is and begins to think that she might be mistaken, that is until the actual audition starts and Lauren transforms into someone completely different, she is stiff, has no balance and is surrounded by a wall of negative energy, but Grace needed Lauren at the school so she could help her, so she made the decision to sing into her ear and help her to release the negativity and dance to her full potential and she ends up doing just that and winning the scholarship, so believing she had done her bit, Grace tries to leave, but is unable to, much to her disappointment and unfortunately Lauren had already left by then.
When the new term arrived and all the girls came back to the boarding school, so did Lauren, but she didn’t seem as happy as Grace thought she should be, but when she tried to speak to her, Lauren just could not see or hear her, this was extremely frustrating for Grace, but she was determined to get to the bottom of Lauren’s issue with dancing and so decided to be patient after talking it over with Rodney. As Lauren settles in to her new dormitory, she feels really cold and all of a sudden a picture falls off the wall and smashes, this startles her from feeling so annoyed at herself for passing the audition, it was her mum’s dream and not hers and she was determined not to enjoy it after everything that had happened, she was also disappointed in herself for passing the audition and getting the scholarship, while also realising how different she was to the other girls and when two walk into the dormitory, one seems nice, but the other one is snarky and acted as though they might catch something off her, so when they leave to go and get supper. As Lauren goes to report the broken picture to Matron, she is waylaid by the sound of her favourite opera music coming from the top of some stairs, when she goes to investigate she finds that it is an old rehearsal studio and feeling the sudden need to dance, she does, until the supper bell sounds and she rushes so she isn’t late.
At supper, all the new girls are asked to stand up when their names are called so that nobody feels like they don’t know anyone, the nice girl from earlier sits with Lauren and starts talking with her, Grace follows her the whole time to try and get to know her a bit better, but when classes start and Lauren goes back to how she danced during the start of her audition, Grace tries even harder to get her attention. The term progresses and Lauren becomes more friendly with one girl, but the others aren’t nice to her at all, but talking to her mum helps her realise that maybe her being there is a good thing after all, she sounds better than she did a couple of months ago, but Lauren still feels the negativity whenever she goes to dance. Can Lauren, Grace work together, or will they both be trapped by their pasts and unable to move on and where does Rodney fit into all of this? This is a heartwarming tale with some fun, competition and a lot of ballet, a great novel for children and adults to escape into alike.

So we have Alice Crawford who is not only an artist, she is a crow with an eye for shiny things. For it is those Shiny things she uses in her are sculptures. Living in Texas, close to the Magical Stream. There are many, many visitors who show up just in time to see the stream shift. But she has so much more to worry about than shiny things and water changing. That would be Warlock Donovan Drake and his Farthing Familiar. OK, some of us think farting is funny. But that is just one of the things that makes this story blossom. Donovan is drop dead handsome and he has yet to find his shifting powers. That is all I can say about this story. No Spoilers Here!
Carrie Pulkinen is the author of this romantic comedy. Her writing will have you turning the pages to see what happens next. I love the characters in this story. Quirky women,hot, hot men and the little farting mongoose.This story has it all, romance, suspense, and laugh out loud fun. I for one will be going right in to read book two. The Graceful Ghost: A story for girls rich with authentic ballet school detail and sparkling with ghostly mischief by Eleanor Dixon is a truly delightful story that is suitable for a wide range of audiences. I thought this book was sweet and heart warming – a story of one girl trying to navigate her problems and help in the form of an unlikely source. The running theme throughout the book is that of overwhelming strength and the confidence to turn things around. Although this book is probably aimed more at a younger audience this really is suitable for all to read – and is interesting and well written enough for all to enjoy. I would highly recommend getting this book today!
Unbroken Vow by Bree M. Lewandowski is a fantasy romance story. It is a short story which id fast paced. This a tale of Forbidden love between two people of different soical status. This book hits you in the feels the characters are very relatable. Once I started reading I couldn’t stop till I finished.

Tessa’s has a big problem and Jordan is just that problem. Tessa never expected to see him again and to top it off the situational circumstances are harder than she thought. Jordis is so cute. Jordan well he can be an arse. The author brings these characters to life, an amazing read and really love it.

Unbroken Vow by Bree M. Lewandowski is a short and fast paced story that is completely different from everything I have read. The author seems to have combined the modern world with the fantasy to create a unique and intriguing story. This is a highly detailed book that creates such a strong image you can easy visualise the world and the characters. I thought the story line was great as well. I was intrigued enough to want to find out what was going to happen. I became invested in the characters and their journey. The story was original from start to finish which made or even kyung to read. This is a book I thoroughly enjoyed.

EEEK! This BOOK! I was frustrated upon beginning reading. So much anger and resentment from him as well as her. Then all of a sudden I was sucked in and read the rest late into the night. Wow! I really needed to see how this would all play out.
Jordan throws me off all the time. I can never tell if he is just doing all this to only acquire Jordis or to appeal to Tessa. There is so much up and down. I feel like I am reading with a frown because of all the seriousness and unknown.
Poor Tessa. She is between a rock and a hard place. I can’t believe she doesn’t have an ulcer with all her stress and worrying. I get it! She is trying to not rock the boat and just be peaceful for Jordis’ sake….but at times it’s nice to see her backbone show up.
Overall this is an enticing second book. It had me cheering and jeering. When it all comes down to it…who would you believe or trust? And how much devastation would you allow to rule your life? How important are those “three little words”?

I was so stinking excited to get my hands on Matching Miriam by Mya O’Malley. I loved her books featuring paranormal and grit with Naomi and was even more stoked to see her pop up in this novel. I knew this was going to be a story that consumed my energy and time as I read it so I curled up with a good drink and blanket and dove right in. It was wonderful, more than I had hoped following Miriam as she found her way through this stage of her life. This book included more of the mystery with Miriam being a detective. I liked the undertones of romance between her and the ex that comes back into her life at the worst possible time, or best, depending on how you look at it. I loved how I literally could not put this down until I knew how things would unfold and finally end up for Miriam. I hope and pray we get more of her because this book was amazing and I really fell in love with the characters. If mystery is your thing with some hints of romance this is a read you won’t want to miss!
I really do love Carrie Pulkinen’s work and her books always find a way to consume me wholly as I read them. I was a small touch hesitant to start Flipping the Bird as I am not huge into shifter stories. I must say Pulkinen pulled this off magnificently and I adored every moment I spent in Shift Creek. I even can say I look forward to seeing what else this series will bring us. Flipping the Bird is not your typical shifter read and it really layers the aspects of rom-com chick-lit, mystery, paranormal and more, to make the story engaging and mesmerizing. I loved that these characters although very imaginary felt very real and possible. This had me laughing out loud and hoping for the main two to find the love. So snuggle up with a blanket and good drink and dive into Alice’s story. It will be one you won’t want to put down!

Echoes: Lucifer and the Dark Goddess by Nikki Broadwell. This is the first book in this series and man oh man its amazing. I can’t wait for the next book. This dystopian read is set in a world where the rich are very rich and the poor are very poor. Feirin is the main character of the story and she is from the city of Elysium and the city is trying to keep a deadly virus from wiping out the population. Feirin is undocumented so she has had to avoid the authorities because she doesn’t want to get sent away. Fee is just now finding out she has special powers and learning to use them. Lucifer is Fee’s romantic interest and he is helping her find out what she is really supposed to do in this life. Fee has found a very ragtag group of friends that make up her family and they will protect each other at all costs. I loved this book and turned the pages as fast as I could. I can’t wait for the next book!

This is an enjoyable and engaging fantasy romance by Bree M. Lewandowski which had me gripped from beginning to end. Following the death of Ada’s husband, Markus, his brother-in-arms Glaive gives his word to protect Ada. Ada followed her heart even though marrying a Paladin is forbidden and so now risks more than a prison sentence. For her safety she is hidden away as a servant to the king but after an incident with a man of power, Ada is sent across the ocean to work for an illustrious crazed queen as punishment. Glaive, is a high ranking Paladin and a knight of Ardara but he is determined not to break his pledge and is willing to risk his own life to save Ada. The storyline flows well and the descriptive narrative really brings both the characters and the setting to life making me feel fully immersed in the story. The plot kept me hooked and happily turning the pages, as it has plenty of drama and romance.

THE GRACEFUL GHOST: A story for girls rich with authentic ballet school detail and sparkling with ghostly mischief by Eleanor Dixon is a delightful story for all ages. I am always on the lookout for stories to share with my niece and this fits the bill perfectly. The story gives a good example of strength and courage through the actions of the characters. Also, the main character being a ghost in a building that has become a ballet school. I really enjoyed the story and the message and will keep an eye out for more books from this author.
