I really enjoyed the first book in the series and I had to admit I was slightly worried about second book syndrome but this book didn’t suffer and I wasn’t disappointed. I really like the author’s writing style, the plot kept me well interested in the book. I really liked the characters and the chemistry between them. Can’t wait to see where Mindy McKinley takes the series next!

This is a short story but it packs so much into it. From the outset you think it’s a story about a virus mutating people into the living dead and one woman’s survival in that world but the underlying messages are so much more
In a cold and desperate world there is always hope no matter how small and how much it doesn’t seem like there is. This book is a story of that discovery in a unique way of telling it.

Desperately Seeking Sixty-Nine – Audio Book By J.D. Frettier 4 stars
Ok, so going in to this book I had absolutely no idea what I was in for, I kind of got the idea it was going to be paranormal kind of read with a twist and I was right! Paranormal with a humorous twist. I’m a bit weird about the ‘after life’ so wasn’t sure if I would enjoy it but I have to say the book was such fun. It was only short (around 1 and ½ hours listening time) but that didn’t mean the story was lacking. The pace was fast, the writing good and I really enjoyed the characters. I certainly laughed out loud at some parts in the story. I thought that narration was really good, it was easy to listen to.

Romance writer Kendyll has been trying to accomplish the impossible her entire life—a fairytale ending. But that has proven easier in her tales of fiction than in her real life.

For Nikki, a childhood love for reading developed into a passion for writing. Romance has always been a favorite of Nikki’s but her reading choices are ecclectic and she finds her writing reflects her tastes. No matter the genre, Nikki still finds a way to sneak some love and passion into her stories – she can’t seem to help it 🙂 So, if you love drama, suspense and/or the paranormal with some angst and a few steamy love scenes, pick up one of Nikki Vale’s books and enjoy the journey!
Stormy’s Thunder (Satan’s Devils MC Utah #2) by Manda Mellett is amazing and does not disappoint. Then again none of her books have ever let me down, and I highly recommend reading them from the beginning. Stormy was a Navy Seal, until he was not. I personally was not a huge fan of him in the other books but hes slowly growing on me. He is just not a happy person and is about to have troubles that catch up with him. So he needs to fix it and quick, will those who are family help him? This book has romance, suspense and will keep you on your toes. You will not be able to put it down after you start between the amazing story line and those characters.

Bound By Secrets is the second book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series by Amy McKinley. As with all Ms. McKinley’s work, this is really well-written- a fantastic romantic suspense story full of secrets, heartache, pain, guilt, anger, angst, danger, violence, drama, chemistry, sizzle, intrigue, tension, mystery, action, twists and turns, and second chances. Kayla desperately needed a place to stay, somewhere safe where she wouldn’t be found by her abusive ex- so that’s how she comes to be staying with Jaxon Hale, her brothers’ best friend. But Jaxon and Kayla have a history together- one weighed by heartache, pain, and loss. The budding possibility that began to bloom, was destroyed in one foul swoop- leaving them both longing, all this time, for what could have been. Sharing his home together brings old feelings and memories bubbling to the surface- and complicates matters even more. With danger circling, and secrets being exposed- not to mention their simmering chemistry adding to all the tension- things take an intense turn- with the story holding me firmly in its grip right till the very last word. Loving this series! Can’t wait to see where we go from here. Bring on Book #3!

Twisted Secrets is Amy McKinley’s first book in her Deadly Isles Special Ops series. It is very similar to the Gray Ghost series, with some references to overlapping characters. I LOVED this book, and cannot wait to read more. The story is very well told, with the mystery and suspense lasting until the end of the book. I was pleased that I never figured out “who done it” until it was revealed. Bravo! The characters are very likeable, each with their own friendships and past. I wish there was more details unfolded about Xander’s drama within his SEALS team, but I suppose that might continue into the next book. The story focuses on on Riley and Xander, and their developing relationship. I liked that each had their own stuff going on, so its almost 3 stories merging. There is Xander and his possible infiltration within his SEALS team. Riley’s relationship and the drama surrounding her breakup. And then the relationship that is developing between Riley and Xander. Highly recommend this book and can’t wait to read the next book.

THE BUCCANEERS OF St. FREDERICK ISLAND by LINDA MARIA FRANK – Review by Gail Guerrero
Four Stars
The Buccaneers take meds from no one. So when their money goes missing the buckle do and solve the mystery. I seriously laughed mostly through the whole story. I don’t remember being this entertaining as an eighth grader. These kids are determined and ready for what ever life throws their way. They all want to be detectives and you can see they have the drive. When a healer and Beach people join the cause they feel unstoppable. I was expecting the story to be this witty and entertaining. I was invested until the end. This author gave a view of younger kids in a new and fun light. Will have to check out more from this author.

Mythical Alliance: Phoenix Team: The Complete Season by Claire Luana
This is the first series I’ve read by Luana. Phoenix Team is a great way to start for new readers. You have 6 books that are all amazing!
Zariya is the daughter of one of the Veil Force’s founders. She loses her father and soon learns her whole life is about to be turned upside down. The quote I chose for Zariya is: “It was a… misunderstanding. But do you think you could work with me on finding a way around his moves?”
Konstantin, a commander for Veil Force, finds himself in a tough situation. He finds that he cares more for Zariya than he should. Can he finally give into the little voice in his head? The quote I chose for Konstantin is: “I care about everyone here. Veil Force… what your father built here… we’re a family. We take care of our own.”

Bound by Secrets (Deadly Isles Special Ops Book 2) By Amy McKinley
This was a great read. This book was full of emotion, suspense, danger, secrets revealed, and a second chance at love. I love this author so getting my hands on this series is a no brainer because I know she will always give me a great story. It is my suggestion that you read the first book in this series before reading this one. Kayla is trying to get away from an abusive relationship and isn’t sure who to turn to until she runs into Jaxon, her brother’s best friend. She hasn’t seen him since her brother’s funeral but she still loves and he still loves her. Can these two find a way to get past the hurt from the past for a second chance. Will Jaxon be able to keep Kayla safe? Find out these things and more when you read this awesome story. I was hooked as soon as I started reading and I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend this book.

Murder at Lolly Beach (An Eve Sawyer Mystery Series Book 2) by Jane Suen is another great read. Eve Sawyer is taking some time over summer break to enjoy the beach with her friend Cassie she met and befriended during chemistry lab. Eve was ready to enjoy some sun and much needed R & R. The vacation turns into something more when Cassie’s friend Blake is found with a serious injury that leaves him in a coma in the hospital. Eve takes the opportunity to help the local newspaper reporter to find out what is happening in the quant beach town.

Titanian’s Phoenix: Titanian Chronicles by Victoria Saccenti – Review by Gail Guerrero
Five Stars
What an amazing adventure this story took us on. The magic, mythical beings and romance. The growth of the characters was amazing to watch. To see the bonds grow and mature into something great. Even though it was life changing for Maya she handled it well. To be told you’re different than what you have always believe is a hard pill to swallow. I love a story that can blind so much together and make it work. The story line was nice and to the point. You get to read about a place you can only dream of. A life full of adventure and change. I really like the writing style of this author will definitely be reading more.
Murder Creek (An Eve Sawyer Mystery) by Jane Suen is a great mystery. First off, I thought it was interesting that Eve Sawyer relies one her extra senses, the ones she doesn’t share with others, to help her solve things. Murder Creek got its name because of a gruesome murder of some young men in the 1800’s. Eve feels something strange when she goes over the bridge crossing Murder Creek. This leads her to start researching the disappearance 20 years ago of Lacey Walken, a beautiful teenager who disappeared without a trace. The story had a twist I didn’t expect but throughly enjoyed.

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine’s Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance) By Jae Dawson
This book was sweet and romantic. I liked Rose and her quirky romantic ways. She owns a flower shop and let’s love speak with her flowers. Rose’s family is fun, supportive and quirky just like her and I loved reading about them. Liam decides to take a much needed vacation and heads back to his hometown. He had no idea how hard it was going to be when all the feelings came back from 20 years ago. Rose and Liam grew up together and were hoping to become more than friends when he was forced to move away and he never looked back. This book is full of forgiveness, romance, second chances, and cute moments. This was a good read.
Heartbeats and Roses (book two in the Hartwood Holiday Romance series) by Jae Dawson was a really good read! I think Dawson has some of the prettiest covers, and I absolutely fell in love with this one. If you like contemporary romance with a happy ending, this book is for you. While this is the second in the series, it can be read as a standalone novel. This was the perfect sweet read for Valentine’s day. And honestly I learned a lot more about flowers from this book. I had no idea flowers had so many meanings! I loved this (to me anyway) second chance romance and I can’t wait to read the next installment in this series.
This is my first read by Jae Dawson and I found her simple and modern writing style easy to follow. This is a fun, light romance novel perfect for getting in the mood for Valentine’s Day. My favorite part of the book was Rose McDaniels, the florist main protagonist. She had an enjoyably earnest and old-fashioned personality. If you’re looking for a sweet, whimsical, second-chance romance, then you’ll enjoy Heartbeats and Roses.

I have read a few books from this author but she continues to blow my mind. I love a good military romance but this author always exceeds my expectations. This is the first book to a new series called Deadly Isles Special Ops. These characters drew me into their story right away. I could not put this book down until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write next.
Riley Evans is going to grad school for photography and she is in love. She is so excited to graduate but when the stress starts to hit she finds herself breaking up the guy she thought was her one. Riley is in shock when a gorgeous guy walks in the coffee shop she works at. She can’t take her eyes off of him. Riley is also dealing with her ex being a stalker. When she meets Xander she feels something she has never felt before. They start to get to know each other and they can’t resist anymore. They are so busy with their relationship they don’t realize that danger is waiting to strike. Will Riley and Xander see their danger or will it be too late?

Bound by Secrets is the second book in Amy McKinley’s Deadly Isles Special Ops book series and if you’re going to read any book series, make it one of this author’s. I started Bound By Secrets immediately after book one (Twisted Secrets) and of course I wasn’t disappointed. The storyline focuses on two different main characters but if you read the previous book, some you are no stranger to. Amy McKinley is excellent at giving you dream worthy military (or ex military men) and every storyline has an element of suspense which I will never turn down. I think my favorite thing about this book, or even the author’s writing in general, is that she always hits me emotionally when I wasn’t expecting to be. Both Kayla and Jaxon are enjoyable characters and I really enjoyed watching the growth throughout the book. If you’re looking for a romance with intrigue, suspense, a strong storyline and lovable characters, I definitely recommend this 5 star read.

Askew Ever After: A Limited Edition Romance Collection has a wide variety of novellas written in different troupes. This review is for Paper Love by Aubrey Wynne.
Paper Love is a “do I risk heart again for love” romance. The way Ben used origami to woo Joss was pretty original. Ben and Joss’s story is something I normally wouldn’t read (being a little too sweet) but I enjoyed this change. Aubrey’s writing was great and easy to love these characters. I would read another book by this author in the future.
Murder at Lolly Beach is a delicious beach read that will leave you wanting more. This book is purported to be a standalone, despite this being the second book in the series, but I still worried that I would miss out on plot or details without having read the first one. I needn’t have been concerned… I dove right into this murder mystery and its characters. Eve is a great protagonist – smart, empathetic, and relatable. Her journey to uncover the murderer was crafted with fun, intrigue and heart. The descriptions of characters and plot are so lush that I could taste the lemonade and smell the beach air. I started this book and read it straight through to the end in one sitting! If you enjoy whodunnit mysteries and fun, accessible writing, this book might be for you!

Hungry Business: A Short Story by Maria DeBlassie. This is such a short story but held so much information. Its the story of an unnamed main character who is living thru the aftermath of a zombie virus outbreak. Kind of right for the times huh. Anyway this character has a strong desire for human contact just as we all do and it never ends well. Its reflective of our dating days and I’m so glad to no longer be involved in that mess. Our main character is strong willed and very private which helps her survive day in day out. The story is not so much scary as it is creepy but it will keep you turning the few pages as quick as you can. Do yourself a favor and read the short story Hungry Business. You won’t be disappointed!

Bound By Secrets by Amy McKinley is the second book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series. This book is just pure brilliance from a consistently amazing author. It is such an intriguing story, full of twists and turns that you just don’t see coming. What I didn’t expect was just how emotional this book is. There were high and lows and definitely a few tears along the way. I enjoyed learning about the history between the 2 characters and how it all shaped their journey. For me it was this that really gave them that connection. This book is such an amazing book I cannot stress enough how you should read it. Every book by this author is incredible and you won’t be disappointed.

K.G. Fletcher has brought a new light to her Reining Hearts series. Once you start this story, you won’t be able to put it down. The characters are Fiona and Chris, they are the perfect couple, even if they don’t know it. Well for the richer, and the poorer. They bring a new twist to buying your love. I enjoyed this contemporary romance. K.G.Fletcher! Well Done! I have to include the narrator of this story. Kelly Gabriella Fletcher as she really brought this story to life. This is a second chance romance based in a small town which rivals Hallmark as a haven for the holidays and Valentines is no exception. Rose McDaniels is a florist with a wild and romantic imagination who organises a secret valentine event every year where she takes orders for special valentines and creates a special message with flowers for the recipient to find at a Candlelight Ball on Valentines night and who owns a cat called Sophie. Liam Bradley is a cardiac surgeon having a string of bad luck, he is being investigated over the death of a patient, his relationship is just going through the motions and his girlfriend is not happy that he isn’t going on holiday with her and instead for some unknown reason, has decided to take up the offer of an old school friend to stay in his AirBNB for a couple of weeks in the hometown which he left twenty years ago without looking back.
Rose is in her shop preparing for an upcoming wedding she has in a couple of days when her landlord comes in to ask her to give a key to the person who is coming to stay in the AirBNB that afternoon, Rose agrees amid her deliveries coming in. Unbeknownst to either Liam or Rose, they are about to meet again when it turns out that he is the one who she has to hand the key over to and she is still affected by him the same way she was at sixteen, but she is torn as he doesn’t seem to be the same person, he is all lines and edges now and cold at the same time.
As Liam settles into the apartment, he agrees to see his friend at eight and then heads out to walk his dog Hunter before the snow really started to fall, he was also reminiscing about the town and how much had and hadn’t changed since he had been here last, then his thoughts turned to Rose and how she hadn’t changed much either and how he regretted how he had left things the last time he had seen her and as he and his friend talk about old times and his family drama over a beer, the subject of Rose comes up again, as does the fact she is still single. The next morning, Rose is busy and has another delivery of some more flowers, but as she is sorting it all out, that is until Liam is woken up and challenges Rose about the time and why she organises them this early and it is at that moment that Hunter decides to get out of the apartment, into the shop and chase Sophie around while destroying the floral arrangements and breaking the glassware inside. As Liam takes Hunter back upstairs and Rose is panicking about the damage and how she doesn’t have time to think, never mind clean up the mess, but when Liam comes back down to help she demands that he leaves and as she is about to go towards him, she slips on the leaf slime covering the floor and land on her wrists and hits her head, there is an audible crack, followed by immense pain and Liam insists on locking up and taking her to the hospital. Unfortunately, it is the same hospital where his dad works and they bump into each other there, the reception is as cold as the weather outside, but as he takes Rose inside to fix her arm, Liam calls her family in to help.
This is a complete disaster for Rose, what with the wedding and Valentines coming up in less that two weeks and with her two assistants unable to help out, she call on them all to help her, Liam included and this is where they start to reconnect, but will they both come to the realisation of what they have, or will Rose be left heartbroken again? Can she muster up the courage to go through with the Valentines events knowing that romance is dead and that she can’t do the things she loves most with her broken wrist? The only way to find out is to read along and find out in the romance filled to the brim with hearts, flowers and love.

This is a fun young adult story, that offers a positive story line to help boost confidence for readers no matter what the age. I highly recommend this book. It is worth the time, as it offers a little for everyone. The interaction between the ghosts and people work charmingly in this book.
Crave An Instant Attraction Romantic Comedy Clark family series By Evelyn Sola
This is a story of two people that have been hurt in the past and have a hard time trusting their feelings. The thing I like about this book is the humor. It is not often that a love story makes us laugh. It felt good. I recommend this book. In our current times laughter is always welcome.
