This is the 3rd book in the Freshwater Series and I enjoyed this just as much as the first 2. The characters are likeable and you really feel a connection to them. It is nice to have a strong female lead character as well as a powerful successful male character.
Em has almost graduated with her PhD. With her goals focused on starting her new career and being successful she doesn’t have time for love or romance. However her father wants her to settle down so he keeps trying to set her up. Add to this her father’s job and how it conflicts with what Em believes in and this makes their relationship strained. So when he try to set her up again she is less than impressed. Until she meets Joel Scott.
Joel is a successful business man. Like Em his focus is his work so when his prespective employer thinks he will like his daughter he goes along with the set up to win over his favour.
What he finds is that Em is nothing like he expected and he is drawn to the strong independent woman that she is.
Can love bloom when neither of them want it? Can Joel prove to Em that he’s interested in her and not just to win favour with her dad? Can they find room in their lives to focus on something other than their careers?

This is a small town romance with some characters with big personalities, Cade Owens is the frontman to a very popular rock band and Belladonna (or Bella) Pagano is a high school arts teacher and when they run into each other in the woods, even though they are there for completely different reasons, Bella to do a ritual to find love with her mum and Cade to drunkenly escape from his current situation, but it leads to more than they both were bargaining for when Bella tries to stop Cade from driving home drunk and he crashes into a lampost and ends up in jail overnight instead.
When his lawyer comes to speak to him the next day, he is ready to just brush the whole thing under the carpet with just a fine, but Cade decides to take his punishment and complete the hours community service and pay the fine for repairing what he damaged, he feels like it will do him more good, but starts to regret it when he realises that the community service will be with Bella at the school. Meanwhile Bella is struggling to get the students’ enthusiasm up for that year’s musical, Little Shop of Horrors, especially when she knows it is the only thing standing in the way of the department losing all of its finding for the next year, to only be told that not only is she getting a student who is serving community service, but Cade Owens as well!
Now Cade has agreed to this community service he has to break the news to his manager and bandmates, but some are more accepting than others and he is trying to ignore the messages, phone calls and demands for new songs as much as he can, but between juggling that, being at the school twice a week and looking after his grandpa, he is wearing thin, but thanks to a kind neighbour, he is just about able to cope. So he starts to spend his tuesdays and thursdays at the school with the students and Bella, the atmosphere is purely professional around them and the kids who are thoroughly in awe that THE Cade Owens is helping out at their school, but Bella allows them to do the whole fan thing for a bit, then gets down to work with the student on community service in the AV and lights setups while everyone else works on their parts and on the set.
Will this unlikely duo be able to pull off the perfect musical and wow the school board, or will the life of a rockstar get in the way? Will they be able to keep their relationship purely professional, or will the love ritual bear fruit and lead to something more? This is a tale of romance, music and life changing decisions, but how it all ends is something you will have to read to find out.

If you enjoy books like Fifty Shade of Gray, you probably will enjoy this book. Sola writes a very steamy story, that addresses class differences, race, and the pain of being betrayed by the ones closest to you.
I think writing a book is a huge accomplishment and I can see why others might like this one, I don’t think this book was for me. The romanticization of an abusive relationship is a theme I have never really been able to get behind.

At Once by Mindy McKinley a tasty four-star read. This is number two in the Adams Brothers series and I have enjoyed them in order. Gabi made this story for me, there was just something about her I could have read another hundred pages. Mason brought something to the story, he had a way of getting Gabi to come across and unfurl herself and become the person she was supposed to. I know I for one cannot wait for the next instalment in this story. As it appears to me this author is just getting better and better with each story they write.

Heartbeats and Roses (Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson was a cute small town romance read. I love Rose and her family. So much love and care. Liam was the ice to her sun and it felt like a true opposites attract. I loved the plot and pacing felt comfortable. I enjoyed the reveals and development by the end of the story.
At Last by Mindy McKinley a fantastic four-star read. This is number one in the Adams brother’s series and it was so close to being a five-star read. I honestly don’t know how I missed this author, as I swear, I had picked it up previously, but I can’t wait to sink my teeth into the next story, there is just something about the writing. Who knew teachers could be so hot and interesting!! I liked how the story unfolded and revealed itself, there were a couple of things I didn’t think flowed as well, but overall it’s a great story.

This is the first book I’ve read by Nash. The author knows how to capture a reader’s attention. I absolutely loved this retell.
Melinda is now living like Cinderella. She is working for the family that has moved into her home. When she finds that her friend from when she was a kid is coming home things change. The quote I chose for Melinda is: “Perhaps it would be best to keep your finery a secret? Thus the gentlemen can be amazed and delighted when they see you?”

Moonlight and Belladonna by Jae Dawson a fab four-star read. I read these out of order, but it didn’t make a difference to me, I enjoyed this one more as I knew the characters better. This one had more of a fun that the other story I read, and I engaged with the characters more, but it still missed something. I found some great characters in this story, some that will bring a special warmth to the story.

Book 1-6 I’ve really enjoyed this series. Zariya is half Nagu, half human. She is devastated at the death of her father and puts her life on hold to find answers, leading her to a secret agency. Together with Phoenix Team, she helps uncover and eliminate supe underworld operations. Each book deals with its own operation, but they do follow on from each. The world building was really well explained and easy to follow. I really enjoyed the interactions between the team as they deal with the supe criminals, much to the annoyance of their team leader. I loved the writing style, the story is concise, well written and not dragged out. There’s nothing worse than having scenes go on for far longer than they need to. This style really helped me stay hooked on the storyline, wanting to jump into the next book straight away. This series is full of action, humour, banter, suspense and a whole lot of twists and turns.
Phoenix Team One: Selected This is an amazing start to the series. I was hooked from the first page, and I really enjoyed the world building which is a human world that knows about different supe species. Zariya is devastated after the death of her father and refuses to believe is was an accident. Her curiosity leads her to Veil Force, a secret supe special forces agency. Zariya is strong, stubborn, highly trained by her father and also refuses to give up. The other characters are so far really interesting and I can’t wait to find out more about them. The world building was explained really well.
Phoenix Team Two: Protected Book 2 continues where book 1 left off. Zariya has now joined the Phoenix team and is being sent on her first mission. Konstantin is now her boss, and she is still fighting her attraction to him, and she still hasn’t told him about her fathers help. This book is full of action as the team takes on missions and learn to work together. Zariya is slowly building bridges with her best friends and making new friends with her team, although she lacks patience and is potentially putting her team at risk with her actions, it all adds to the action and suspense of the story. There is a cliffhanger at the end.
Phoenix Team Three: Captured Book 3 continues the series and is another action packed story. Konstantin and Daevin have followed Zariya through the portal and have stumbled into an enemy base. Things don’t quite go to plan and a rescue mission is required. I really enjoy the writing of the world building in this series, it’s not too complicated to understand but it still pulls me into the story. The banter and friendships in the group bring some humour into the story and also helps understand the teams personalities better. The twist at the end was partly unexpected and I can’t wait to see what the Phoenix Team do with the information.
Phoenix Team Four:Trafficked This was another great book in the series. Another day, another mission for Phoenix Team. This time they are trying to take down a supe trafficking location, with Zariya going in undercover. I really enjoy the concise style of writing for fight scenes, nothing is dragged out, its dealt with so the story can move on. There are a few twists in this book, the agency mole is finally revealed and also someone from Konstantin’s past makes an appearance to throw a spanner in the works.
Phoenix Team Five: Revealed Continuing on from book 4, the team follow Konstantin to the supe underworld (DRC) and to his master. What they find is a lawless society held together with strict punishments. Just when the team think they’ve found the answers, more are revealed. Again this book is full of action, great characters and a continuing storyline that just keeps adding twists and keeps you in suspense. If you enjoyed the previous books, you will enjoy this one too.
Phoenix Team Six: Betrayed Book 6 starts to bring all the previous missions and intelligence together, leading to a stand off as each side stands their ground. The mole is finally revealed to the other teams and Rex returns to the home he abandoned in order to try and help his team. Again, this book is full of action, but also shows how far the team has bonded. They pull in every resource they can in order to expose the Leviathan network. I loved the ending and the epilogue, it was perfect for the Phoenix Team series. There is a great introduction to the next series for Drago Team.

Heartbeats and Roses by Jae Dawson a flirty four-star read. This is such a sweet read, it may give you toothache, I think I enjoyed this as it was a rekindling and that always warms me up. The familiarity between the characters was a little too much as they just seemed to be too insular and it made it difficult to imagine you are there with them, and that is how I usually read and get into a story. Overall, it was good, and I do plan on reading more from this author to see if the more I get to know the style the more I will enjoy it.

This is an author I have enjoyed through every one of her books. This one is no different. This is a well written story that pulls you in right from the start. The characters made the story fun to read as well as entertaining. They are connectable and engaging. I enjoyed this paranormal story about Allison and Logan. She is a medium who because of her past is afraid of spirits. He has a ghost that is haunting and driving him crazy. Just when he is about to give up hope, he meets her and she just may be the answer to his prayers. I enjoyed their characters and what they bring to the story. They made the story easy and entertaining to read. They truly just made the story for me. I highly recommend this book.

This is a new author for me, I enjoyed my first book and I look forward to reading more from him. This is a suspenseful story that is well developed that has characters that bring the story to life. The characters made the story enjoyable to read and they are connectable. This is a fast paced story that is engaging. There is a serial killer on the loose killing women who all look the same. The killer has an agenda but so does the investigator Cade. As the story becomes a cat and mouse game, I highly recommend reading to find out who is the cat and who is the mouse. This is a great story that has twists and turns you don’t want to miss. Don’t miss out on this book, it was worth the pick up.

I enjoyed this romance suspense story. This is a well rounded story written by a great author. I enjoy her attention to details that made the story feel realistic. The characters are both connectable and engaging. This is a fast paced story that has twists and turns that left me sitting on the edge of my seat. This is Kayla and Jaxson’s story. She is running from an abusive relationship. Not wanting to put her family in danger she runs to the one person she can think of, her brother’s best friend. Jaxon made a promise to his best friend but this time around he won’t be able to keep that promise. What will happen when the past comes to the present in more than one way? What will fate have in store for them? They are great characters that made the story easy to read and fun. I highly recommend this book and this author.

This is Zariya Chanji’s story, she is a woman who is half human and half naga, a supernatural snake warrior and she has just lost her father Vizol, the official reports say that it was an accident, but in her bones, Zariya is sure that there is something more to it and decides to be reckless and find out for herself what exactly happened. The book starts with her seducing a man who works for the MASC, or the Ministry Alliance of Supernatural Creatures and making an illegal copy of his ID card so that she can break into the building, however, things go a bit wrong and she ends up going to hospital with him, but in the rush, she leaves her purse behind in the ambulance and has to call in her best friend for a rescue and when she starts to act suspiciously, Zariya decides to follow her and see what is going on, but what she discovers is that her father has been leading a double life and that he actually works for an initiative within MASC too, but when she comes across the opportunity to find out more, she becomes embroiled within the secrets herself and lands a place on the Phoenix Team.
This is where things get really interesting as this box set follows Zariya and her teammates as they investigate Vizol’s death, as well as other missions, each book focuses on one member of the team and keys you into their past, present and possibly future. All the while, Zariya is trying to fit in and get to know her place within the team with little help from those around her, as she feels betrayed by them because they were all keeping secrets from her. As she pushes people away, all she really wants is the truth to be revealed in more ways than one, but the secrets which bury deeper into the Phoenix Team and MASC as a whole than anyone realised, including past mistakes and future consequences, but will the team and Zariya be able to live long enough to uncover them all?
This is a fantasy adventure with twists, turns and non-stop action which pulls you in and makes you want to read more, but will Zariya be able to fully integrate on the team, or will her differences of opinion, fear of further betrayal and the walls around her heart stop her?

I thoroughly enjoyed this book, I loved the writing style and how the author described her surroundings; I could really picture what she was seeing. The author got the name for this book from a place she’s personally been to, which made this book all the more personal; that added to the fact I could relate to her when she mentioned having a morbid curiosity about crime made me feel all the more closer to the book and the author which I think is so important. This was a really easy read and I’m excited to read more from the author.

This book was great. I have read quite a few books by this author and I have liked every one of them and this one is no different. I was pulled in from page one and I loved the authors attention to detail. I couldn’t put this one down. This book reminded me of Georgette Heyer novels, a simple clean regency romance with a Cindrella twist. Though I admit, Cindrella twist was not necessary, even otherwise it is a lovely story. Melinda Wychwood was successfully running her father’s estate, until he dies, when unfortunately, upon his death, the estate goes to his distant male cousin Mr. Davenport. Mrs. Davenport has a young daughter and she detests Melinda’s efficiency and beauty and tries to keep her away from the public eye. Alexander Kaye Arundell, a childhood friend of Melinda, has recently inherited a fortune and is now everyone’s eye-candy. All the eager mothers are eyeing him as a match for their daughters. Arundell along with his friend Theodore Marlowe visit the country side with a a deceitful plot of their own. Will the ploy succeed or one of the gentlemen fall in love despite all his dislike towards the matchmaking moms process? It is a very simple story and told in a very pleasant way. It is very difficult to find a sweet clean romance these days, especially retelling a romance in regency era is not easy. Minute attention has to be paid to the costumes and the accessories. I finished this book in an hour and loved every bit of it. As I said earlier, even without the fairy touch, the story would have been equally beautiful. Hope to see more such romances from this author.

Twisted Secrets is the first book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops Series by Amy McKinley. This romantic suspense is a fast paced wild ride that I just couldn’t put down. The story is based in Hawaii and it just made me want to get away. Riley and Xander have great chemistry and witty dialogue.Amy McKinley is turning into one of my go to authors. Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentine’s Day Romance (A Hartwood Holiday Romance) by Jae Dawson was a great 5 star read.
If you like second chance romance you will get pulled into this story. Rose owns her own floral shop and she loves it. It has helped her move forward from her own heartbreak. Her favorite time of year is Valentine’s day when she has a special event.
Liam has returned home after an issue at work. He was forced to leave town years ago and he still has some feelings that need to be resolved from that night. The place he has rented for his stay is above a floral shop and brings him face-to-face with his past. He quickly realized how much he missed Rose and they started to get close again.
Will these two rekindle what they had in the past? Or will Liam’s current relationship get in the way?
Overall this was a great story. The author pulls you in with her writing and you won’t want to put it down. Both characters were great. My emotions were all over the place. You can read this as a stand alone. If you’re looking for a great romance read, 1-click and get started today. I look forward to reading more from this author.
I was very inquisitive as to what the author could write in so few pages. I wasn’t entirely sure what the story was trying to convey most of the time. Once I got the gist of the story, it wasn’t too bad. I can honestly say I have not read a book quite like this. The author did not mince words and her attention to detail was first class. While this is not a genre I particularly enjoy, I did appreciate how the author played on words and delivered the story. A different and enjoyable read. 4 stars.

Ride with the Moonlight is the second book in the Thunder on the Moor series by Andrea Matthews. I recommend reading the first book if you haven’t already but thus can be read as a standalone. This is a time travel historical romance that I once you dive in its hard to put down. Will and Maggie go through quite a lot . She’s a time traveler. He’s sentenced to hang and she’s sent back to her family. Will the plan set in motion be enough to save Will and reunite the two? I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next.

This is the second book I’ve read by Matthews. The second book in the Thunder On The Moor Series. Better than the first and easier to read.
Maggie has saved Will from her family. She soon finds herself in quite some trouble. Having to go back to Ian isn’t something she wants to do. Losing her family is also something she doesn’t want to do. The quote I chose for Maggie is: “But don’t you see? You’ll be condemning me to far worse. Will has fallen for Maggie. He doesn’t know how things are going to go considering that her family is after him. He soon finds that things aren’t going well. Stormy’s Thunder is book two in the Satan’s Devils MC Utah series by Manda Mellett. Story’s story is yet another gripping and emotional story that is enthralling that I was incapable of putting it down. The dialogue was on point and the overall story was edgy and dramatic. All the things I love in a story. Manda Mellet always delivers a tale that has me totally engrossed with my heart beating wildly and a dessert dry mouth. Her characters are real, direct, imperfect, yet they have an uncanny ability to worm their way into your heart even if you don’t particularly like them in the beginning. You cannot help falling for them and their battles/hardship. Their integrity is strong and their devotion, once accepted, is liberating. I always take a little of each characters with me at the end of very story I read. With these characters, I take a lot more with me. I love these men and women. I love this series. I cannot wait for more. 5 stars.
