Where Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale – Review by Anantha Alagappan

Where Flowers BloomWhere Flowers Bloom by Nikki Vale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is an intense read centered around a romance writer, Kendryll, who is in the middle of a rocky relationship. Determined to give her relationship another chance and a fresh start, she decides to buy a property in an ancient plantation.
She falls in love with the plantation, but she keeps debating why she is drawn towards this place which had once housed several black slaves. She dreams about the people who used to live there. She is also attracted to a white man, who is helping her restore the house, which is strictly forbidden in her family.
Unable to decide if the house is playing its tricks on her, or is she genuinely falling in love with someone, Kendryll has confused feelings leading her to unravel more secrets of the hidden past of the house to determine her future.
It is a little complicated plot, as it draws parallels to what happened in the house in the past to Kendryll’s life. But it is indeed a very fascinating story, there are times when I had to reread certain bits to understand what is happening. But overall, quite an interesting read.
