My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Goddess of Everything by Paul DeBlassie is the second book I’ve read by this author and honestly, it won’t be the last. It took me longer than usual to finish this book because I wouldn’t allow myself to read it to unwind before bed. I felt that the intricate storyline and attention to detail needed my undivided attention, not the groggy re-reading of lines.
I will admit that I am used to thrillers that have me on the edge of my seat, carrying the book everywhere to get one more page in, and while I was really invested in this storyline, the attraction wasn’t the same. I contribute this to the visual picture and the need to slow down and take it ALL in vs feverishly reading the words for what is next.
I think what had me drawn to this book and the author in general, is how unique I feel that not only the storyline is, but Paul DeBlassie lll can write something so thrilling with a poetic feel to it. I give Goddess of Everything 4 stars.
