Office Romances are one of my favorite go-to genre. So when I saw this book it was a no brainer. I am so glad because this book is amazing. It has thrills and chills, fun and sun with delightful characters who come into their own.
I love how determined Zach is to get her to date him. Their first meet was inspiring and that first date was adorable! Zach is an ideal guy..hard in the office and a big softie out. Regan didn’t want to fall into the same trap she had once before. She is involved but always holding Zach at arms length. I loved her business savvy. Their story is one of my favorites…a definite reread.
The Keller’s are quite a different family. I loved their uniqueness and how they stand together! Zach’s mom is fun and delightful. Always pushing but she never seems over the top. I look forward to the next in this series but I’m thinking this office romance will be my fav.

This is the first book I’ve read by MacDonald. MacDonald knows how to keep readers entertained and coming back to read more. I’ve got to say Tears of Boabdil is an amazing first read.

Its the story of Cecily Taylor who is in first real relationship and she thinks Zach may be the one. When she tries out for a part in a music video and gets it she is shocked and her friends are all jealous. Andrew Holiday is a huge star and starring in this video is amazing. The more time she spends with Andrew the more she likes him. Zach is extremely upset about the time she spends with him and becomes more irrational by the minute. He ends up acting like a fool pushing Cecily away. Andrew really likes Cecily and thinks she is so much more than those air headed models he’s been seeing. Will they have a future together? Read this sweet young adult romance to find out!

So, this was a great young adult read and I thoroughly enjoyed every page of it. For me, the best part of this book was that it featured a male as the main character because there are so few books out there now that do. I loved how the story incorporated a single-parent home life, teenage romance, magic, and mystery all together to create such a relatable book. I fell in love with the story immediately and didn’t want it to end. In fact, I am hoping that there is a follow-up to this story because I could certainly see this having several sequels to it. I felt that the author pulled me into the story as I was reading because her writing skills were so keen and informative. This was the first book I have read by this author but I’m going to check out more of her work from the library because if all her books are as good as this one then I’m going to become addicted. If you have a young adult male reader in your household or know someone that does, this will make for a great read for them.

Krysten Lindsay Hager is a new author to me. Her writing style gripped me from the first page to the last page. This is a fast paced YA book. It kept me going because I needed to know what was coming up next. The characters were tuned into the story. They were complex and really enhanced the story. I could vision them in my mind’s eye because they were so realistic. Cecily is the lead female character and Andrew is the lead male character. Cecily was doing her friend a favor and accompanied her to a video audition. Cecily did not even want to be in the video but the director did. This put some ill feelings from her friend and with all the attention made her boyfriend become jealous. Andrew being the lead singer of the group has a crush on Cecily. How does Cecily feel about the video? Does Cecily and her boyfriend fall apart? Does Andrew come to help Cecily get through these trying times? Does the small town girl and the big time guy? I highly recommend this book to find out the answers to these questions and more.

I’m not sure how I would feel if I got the chance to meet a celebrity that I had been a diehard fan of, I don’t really have a celebrity icon that I like that much I don’t think. But Cecily does, and that amaze-balls icon for her is the singer Andrew Holiday. At first, I was a little annoyed, I know other people who have read this didn’t like Zach and his jealousy, and I will admit that he was a tad arsy, but I think I would be a little annoyed if the person I loved was spending a lot of time with a sexy celebrity who was clearly into them. I mean Andrew makes it known that he wants her, if not explicitly but implicitly, and I just thought that Zach got a bad deal. Doesn’t condone what he does, but still, I felt proper sorry for him at first. Cecily was okay, I’m not sure how I felt about her as a protagonist if I’m honest, think this was geared more towards young adults, and as such, the character just didn’t really resonate with me. Still, it had the whole, normal girl being thrust into the sparkly world of stardom and receiving the attention of a hot celebrity who thinks that she is the best thing since sliced bread, vibe. I would have my phases when I was younger, of eating books like this up, and this is one of the better-written ones. Hager has a nice turn of phrase that made me want to keep reading, even if I wasn’t wholly invested in the story. Young adults will love this and anyone else looking for a nice romance that has plenty of feels, and the rosiness of unbelievable dreams coming true.

This epic conclusion to the series was everything I was hoping it would be. Such a fantastic adventure, it stands well on its own but truthfully is that much richer having read the whole series. Gill has done a beautiful job creating this world and these characters. Loved every page.

Dunn does an amazing job tackling a serious subject in the midst of a contemporary romance. This series has been good but this installment is the most riveting to date for me. Sensitive to the subject matter, realistic, emotional – a real connection point with the main characters to the reader. You cared about the relationship and the backstory and the possible hea as well as the suspense that was at the heart of the plot. Really well written.

Shift Happens….. just the title gives you an indication of how witty and hilarious Carrie Pulkinen’s writing is. She’s a master with comedy and character development. This second book in the series is just as good as the first. Hollie Jackson did an amazing job with the narration and really brought an extra layer to the characters and story

We all have, to some extent, anxiety about change. Jake takes us on his journey through the perils of “his first day at school”. I read this book to my son and then the next night he asked me for the book so he could read it again for himself…… that relates to him really liking it

Vince is an undercover agent for the Special Branch and when he creates his character and backstory, he throws himself into it completely and immerses himself into the other world he is trying to infiltrate and this time, he has to become an islamic convert and infiltrate a British Jihadi group. Vince starts his journey in a local, nondescript, corner shop where he goes to buy some essentials, bottled water and cigarettes, but when he sees the woman serving on the counter, she is beautiful, he cannot deny that, but he also senses that she is different to most women and also that this would not be their only meeting. He approaches the mosque for the first time as well, it is also a beautiful place, as he enters and follow the other worshippers, he completes the rituals and spots his targets doing the same, he observes them from a distance, he knows he needs to first be noticed, then to earn their respect and after that their trust, but Vince also knows he needs to do it slowly and carefully.
As the days pass and Vince is growing closer to his first check in with his handler, he develops a routine of breakfast, visiting the corner shop to interact with the woman there, to the mosque for prayers and visiting the stalls selling literature and in the market precinct on Fridays and Saturdays, being seen to be devout and seeking of knowledge, eventually the targets come over and talk to him, this is where Vince’s work really starts. Two of them talk about the information in the leaflet he is holding all the while listening to the third man talking to passers by and hears something of interest to file for later on about a study group. Vince is about to leave when he is given another leaflet about a protest happening the day after and he agrees to go and take part, this should help to gain their trust and it is what happens, he also has the opportunity to talk to the woman at the shop who introduces herself as Ayesha, it turns out she is the sister of the targets and is very intelligent and Vince decides that to befriend her could also help him to get in with the targets.
As he is walking home a few days later, he comes across a blast from his past who it turns out is his handler for this mission, although they don’t get along, they agree on a way for them to communicate and Vince goes on his way. As time passes and he slowly starts to gain the trust of the targets and their sister, things become more complicated when he starts to develop feelings for Ayesha, he uses her intelligence and discovered love of Moorish Spain to spin yet more tales and seduce her, however, is he becoming too close and losing himself in all the tales he is spinning, or will he be able to see past them to the reality and complete his mission? This is a thrilling deep dive into the life of an undercover agent as he struggles to discern reality from the tales he spins and you are spinning through it all with him until the conclusion is reached.

This is an author you don’t want to overlook! Neil MacDonald is a genius at weaving a story and creating a welcome challenge for his reader. The Tears of Boabdil is a psychological thriller that needs concentration and focus, but is compelling and hard to put down. The unreliable narrator, Vince/Zami, is an undercover agent who is sent to infiltrate a British Jihad group. However, he finds he must choose between his mission and a love he has found along the way. The characters in this story are well-built and you will find yourself rooting for love to win. This is quite different from my usual genre, but I do not regret giving it a chance. The author is wonderful at creating a page-turner that is unpredictable and will keep the reader on their toes. I definitely recommend this book and give it 5 enthusiastic stars.

This is a refreshing read. It is set from the perspective of the lead male which is a nice change for a story about romance. The setting of a camping expedition is also something different. The characters are well written with the lead character being very witty and funny.
Alex Jones is an author. When he needs inspiration for his new book his friends Luke and Penny offer to help him out. They take him on a camping expedition to show how what it’s like to get back to nature.
However Alex is a city boy. Being in the middle of nowhere, pitching tents and building fires is not his idea of fun. The only thing making it bearable is Penny.
As the 10 days progress Alex’s feelings for Penny grows but not knowing how she feels should he take the risk or keep his feelings to himself. Also how will Luke react when his feelings are shown.

This is my 2nd book of this series and also by this author. I enjoyed the first one, but do believe this one is my pick so far. Still just a bit predictable for me, but definitely held my interest till the last page. The writing style has an easy flow making it an easy read to get lost in. I did find myself confused a few times but was able to get back on track pretty quick. I never connected strongly with Marie, I’m not sure why but something did bother me about her. I did like the humor that was spaced out throughout, and I did LOL a few times.
I did enjoy reading this and it absolutely can be read as a stand alone. I will be looking forward to the next one.
Secure Her is book four in the Chase Security series by R. L. Dunn. This author dabbles with a few delightful and attention grabbing events. It contains some BDSM, some drama, some mystery, some intrigue, some frustration, and lots and lots of chemistry and strong and vibrant personalities. An eclectic collection of characters with varied and colourful idiosyncrasies. I engaged immediately with the main characters, and was left gasping a lot of the time. The other times I felt intense contentment with the direction the story took, and the often suspenseful and dangerous road they travelled. Immensely riveting and cleverly written. Thoroughly fulfilled my raunchy cravings. 4 stars.

I really enjoyed this book, I was pulled right in from the beginning. Cecily has her first boyfriend and she is asked to go with her friend to possibly meet her favorite singer during an audition. While there Andrew seems to take a liking to Cecily and she also gets a part in the video. She is super excited and shares the news with her boyfriend, who doesn’t seem very excited for her. While doing the video she ends up having a nice conversation with Andrew and gets to see a different side to him.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. We continue to watch Cecily have issues with her boyfriend and his jealousy. And she starts a friendship with Andrew. Things take a twist and things get even more interesting. All of the characters were great although a couple of Cecily’s friends were so so for me and the boyfriend frustrated me on so many levels. The Ocean’s Light is the first book in the Blood of the Pirate series by Mina Chara. I love Ms. Chara’s Hero High series, so I was quite excited to find she had released a new book and discover that it’s also the start of a swashbuckling new series. She had me on the first page- reading The Legend of the Light introduction to the story was all I needed to see to know that I was going to love this story. And I did. This is Indiana Jones meets Pirates of the Caribbean- a wonderfully original swashbuckling pirate adventure- a treasure hunt full of action, intrigue, mystery, danger, drama, curses, and so much more. I was glued to the pages, not wanting to put the book down until I had read every last word. I am hooked on this book/series- and really can’t wait to get my hands on the next book. I am so happy that this story was so incredibly good, as there were a few editing issues (Amazon Au verified purchase Kindle copy) which pulled me out of the story and disrupted the flow. Simple things that should have been picked up in the editing/proof reading/Beta reading phase- and had they been, this book would have been all the better for it. Issues such as getting characters mixed up, referring to an MC’s as he, when they are she- or she, when they are he. Starting off in a MC’s character perspective (Slim) and then calling her Bulk (another MC). Sentences that don’t quite make sense, because of the use of wrong words, and simple typos like using ‘in’, instead of ‘at’. So, I am so very relieved that the story was so captivating, because becoming immersed in all the action and adventure did help to distract me from the editing issues- to the point where they didn’t detract (too much) from my overall enjoyment of the story. I am invested in this series now, as it has captured my imagination and got me thinking- my mind is pondering all the various scenarios of where we can go from here. I can’t wait! Bring on Book #2! The Executive’s Decision (Book One of the Keller Family Series) by Bernadette Marie was a really good read! This book was full of heart in my opinion, with all sorts of feels. I was instantly immersed in this book from the first page, and once I started reading I didn’t want to stop, or leave the characters. They felt so real to me! This was a fictional novel that felt so realistic. I felt like I was right there with the characters. If I’m recalling correctly, this is the first novel by this author I’ve read before, and I can’t read to read more from her in the future! I also can’t wait to read the next installment to this series!

This series is like a fine wine; it gets better with age. This is a standalone, but best to read the others first. Detective Petrosky has lived a heck of a life as a detective. And he’s sure that this B&E will be a simple case but ends up being a complication that Detective Petrosky doesn’t need…in many ways. With the many twists and turns, this book gives you, it necessary to not give anything away while reviewing. You cannot go wrong with this series!

Zach is still coming to terms with losing an operative on a mission due to their personal relationship when he gets put onto a new case. Undercover female officers are showing up dead when as they are trying to infiltrate a human trafficking ring. Zach, who is known as Ice at the club he partially owns, must teach a new undercover to be a submissive in order to crack this case open. However, this Dom may be finding his personal feelings coming out to play with this Sub. Saoirse has been asked to come in on a new case when another undercover is found dead. One of the victims is her roommate from Quantico. When she finds herself paired up with Zach on the case, she could have never imagined how her life would change. She is not only able to discover her own desires in the bedroom, she finds herself falling for her Dom. However, personal feelings can be detrimental on a case like this. Can they keep the lines between personal and professional straight? I think the thing that made this book more interesting was the constant flashbacks and timeline from a victim’s point of view. I found myself having to set the book aside a time or two because it delves into some heavy topics. Like the other books in the series, I enjoyed the story and always find myself wanting more from the Chase Security world!

This book is an imaginative retelling of the evergreen children’s classic Peter Pan. The book’s central character is Captain Shaw, whom we know as the notorious Captain Hook in Neverland. This tale is about the humane side of Captain Hook and what caused him to be the notorious man he is known to be. Captain Hook was a pirate, and was an honest pirate with his heart in the right place. He cared for his crew, and the women who came into his life, even for a brief fling. He begets a son from one such fling, is kept away from him for several years till one day, he is united with him. But his son joins the Lost Boys troop of Peter Pan and gets accidentally killed in one of the pirate encounters. This causes Hook to seek vengeance against Pan. He tries different venues to get to Pan, but is incapacitated with his inability to fly. To get near Pan, he first captures Tinkerbell for fairy dust, then befriends a beautiful witch who claims to be the sister of the Sea God Neptune, and falls in love with a mermaid who is Pan’s best friend. But in his plotting and scheming, he loses his edge and falls prey instead of being a predator. Desperately in love, and now a target to an evil power, Hook tries to hold on to the humane side and for a brief time even forgets about his vengeance with Pan for the greater good. But will his good side prevail and make him a better person? Or will the cruel fate take away what he is holding dear to heart and make him an evil heartless villain? That forms the crux of this story. The language is beautiful and the book is a very easy read. But I did have some qualms on the plot. I felt it a little convoluted at few places. But I really enjoyed this imaginative retake on one of my childhood classics.

The World Beyond the Walls: epic dystopian eco-fantasy (Natural Forces Book 3) By Jean Gill
This book had me hooked from the beginning. This is my favorite one in this series. If you haven’t read the first two it is my suggestion that you go back and read them. This story is full of action, danger, magic, wonderful characters and more. The author weaves such a detailed rich story that you feel like your right there in it. I had a hard time putting this book down. I found this book to be refreshingly original. I will definitely be reading more books by this author. I recommend this book and series as a whole.

Auctioned is the third book in the Billionaire Bodyguards series by Via Mari. I have to stop being surprised by how much I love Via Mari writing. Every book I read always seems to keep me hanging on the edge till the last word. Damian and Bryanna’s story was nail-biting and super sexy that I want more from them.
Damian is hired to find Jenny’s niece, Bryanna but what he wasn’t expecting was mixing business with pleasure. And Bryanna will do anything to save her family even being auctioned off to the highest bidder.
Like every story, there were characters that I can’t wait to get a closer look at and returning ones that I needed an update on. I need more info on Bryanna’s brother (please!).

Hook’s Little Mermaid (The Untold Stories #1) by Suzanna Lynn
This is the first book I’ve read by Lynn. It won’t be my last. The Untold Stories Series is a Fairytale retelling of Captain Hook and Little Mermaid. Can be read as a stand alone.
Captain James Hook is looking to revenge the death of his son. Tinker Bell becomes his fairy friend while Red becomes his wolf buddy. Peter needs to taken care of, but will a mermaid change his mind. The quote I chose for James is: “I don’t need to trust them. I just need the dust. I believe any fairy would happily exchange some dust for its freedom.”
Elynna is a mermaid in Neverland. When she meets James she soon learns that he wants to do something horrible. When she learns the story she decides that she’s going to take into her own hands. The quote I chose for Elynna: “This is not the way to honor Owen. Be the man he was proud of.”

The World Beyond the Walls: epic dystopian eco-fantasy (Natural Forces Book 3) by Jean Gill – was an excellent third book to this series. I think there’s some wiggle room for another book. I will really hate it if this is the end. This is just a really good story however, it does give you something to contemplate and think about. What exactly is perfection? And is that something we would really want? What would the unintended consequences be? Interesting thoughts.

DeBlassie has upped the ante with this “blood curdling” story. Unlike any of his other crazy stories, Goddess of Everything is above and beyond normal craziness.
This story is about Mother Juana and her need for…blood, death, obedience and well, everything. Mother Juana’s son Gabriel is torn between his love for his wife, his mother and life in general.
These characters are well developed, enough so that you know if you met up with Mother Juana you would want to run the other way. And if you met up with Gabriel you would see the devotion and love this man has for those around him especially those less fortunate.
The plot of this story is unbelievable, disheartening, and downright disturbing. Way to go DeBlassie. If you enjoy dark stories with a touch of mystery and crazy, this may be one you put at the top of your list.
