Houses of Deception (The Madeline Dawkins Mystery Series Book 6) by Cynthia Hamilton is a great book. I love suspense and mystery novels and tis one was definitely a real page turner. While I have not read the other books in the series, I still feel like I got a lot of the back stories into the characters that created a depth and understanding. I could not help but to feel the emotions the characters experienced making this a great read. I have always dreamed of being a detective and this just helped me to experience the process and emotions one goes through to solve a case. The characters are so well developed and run through the gambit of emotions, that I just wanted to reach out and wipe away the tears and calm the anxiety experienced by them all. I could not put this book down! I just had to solve the case along with Madeline in order to find peace. Beautifully written and worth the time to read it, I just loved the storyline and now I need to read the previous books in the series. Missing persons and a kidnap victim kept me begging for more clues as to who and why these people were taken and missing. The book has a bit of everything and reminds of the older television show Hart to Hart, a bit of nostalgia that made this an easy read and kept me coming back to solve the cases. Must read!
