Saoirse is a young woman who finds out the life she knew is anything but. After getting canned at her barista job she learns that her father has died and that she was adopted. MINDBLOWN. Well, as she is adapting here comes her real grandmother. She goes to visit her for a bit and ends up loving Cord with its quirky people and fantastic music. She also meets Smithy, who has a mysterious air about him. These two have an adventure of a lifetime, or maybe two, trying to figure out why. Though she learns that her grandmother is Mother Earth and there are so many secrets and mythteries to be uncovered. This book is absolutely FANTASTIC. Even though I didn’t understand what some words meant, i loved the community amongst the characters. The whole mythtery around the plot kept me never wanting to see this book end. (P.S. Is it November yet? I’ll be eagerly awaiting Book 2). There are 2 plots that intertwine so smooth. The description in the book just fuels my desire to visit Ireland. Big recommend! 5/5

Taking Flight by Brooke May a fabulous five-star read. This is number two in the code of honour series, and I loved it as much as the first, it was so nice to see the other side of the story, it just built more and created this amazing depth to everyone. It could be read as stand-alone, but I would highly recommend that you read them in order, as you do get so much from each story. Brooke May is such a compelling writer, I have enjoyed so many of their stories, but this series has been my favourite as even though I haven’t liked all of the characters but its just made it a much stronger story. Do not miss this amazing series, or this sublime author.

Remember His Name was a phenomenal read! It was entertaining, mysterious, heart-wrenching, unexpected and truly captivating. I read this book in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading. I was so intrigued by Wren and his story, I loved how the author portrayed him and I felt like I could easily connect with him.
This was my first book by this author but it won’t be my last, I look forward to reading many more by this author. If you are looking for a one of a kind read look no further!

This inspirational book of poems, prose and pictures takes an observational and contemplative look at “ego, behaviour, human relations, places, and the environment”. Although the poems do address the subjects of loss, refelection, and struggle the writer has taken a more lighthearted and at times humorous take on these subjects. Each poem, prose or short story definitely makes you think and reading them can take you on an emotional rollercoaster, as the blurb says, “the author invites his readers to laugh, think, cry, and meditate on the wide variety of thoughts”. I particularly enjoyed the short stories and could have read more of them. I found the layout of the book a bit muddled, I was unsure at times where one poem ended and another started. There were phrases and lines in the poems that really jumped out at me and resonated with me. However, some of the longer poems seemed to me to be a jumble of the authors thoughts which I did not understand. Unfortunately although I liked the inclusion of the hand drawn sketches in the book as I thought it made it feel more intimate and personal to the author, again many of them I just did not understand. I have given this book four stars because I did enjoy reading it and it has introduced me to a different genre, but as I’m not a usual poem reader I did feel that I just wasn’t ‘getting it’. However whilst reading ‘Lines by Leon’ I could see how others could get so much more out of the book than maybe I have.

Sex on Fire by Ashley Bostock a fun and fiery five-star read. This was super short but packs enough of a punch that you know you have read and enjoyed a great story, I can’t wait to hear more about the naughty neighbours. Turner was so much more than I imagined him to be, and Poppy was some one I could understand deep in my heart. This is ideal if you just want something short and sweet, with enough heat to warm.

A Cold Day in Hell by Naomi Valkyrie a fantastical five-star read. This is number five in the Life is Hell series and its just as strong as the first, if not stronger as they all build on each other and develop the characters, normally by book five in a series one of the stories will drag a little, or someone will start to grate, but this author manages to keep it fresh and fun, and just keeps giving a deeper story to pull you in. This time its Haddie and Jezebel we get to hear more from, both are characters that grate in some ways, but warm you so much in others. They each have a side of the story and together they may the page light up.

This book has all the makings of a wonderful YA paranormal story! Lucy has had a life riddled with unfair circumstances and the author does a great job of reeling you in from the first sentence. I loved the watching her as she grew from a young girl unsure of herself into a young woman who knew what was truly important. She deals with the same things all teen girls deal with but there is a twist…she isn’t human. This story is filled with the supernatural and keeps you wondering what will happen in the end. It can get slow at times but towards the end picks back up and reels you in! It has love, heartbreaks, witches, demons, and more!

The Forsaken: Wraith by Martin Ferguson is an intriguing YA fantasy paranormal story. I really enjoyed Martin’s debut series, Relic Hunters and was excited to see what The Forsaken was all about. Martin never fails to deliver an action-packed tale with plenty of danger and thrills, and mystery. This is an adventure that is addictive and has all the ingredients that make for a good read and the pages turning. This is an exciting new world and characters.
Alena was hidden away to save her. She is the very thing that she is employed to hunt. She is the very thing she can never reveal. She is the very thing she must keep hidden.
I look forward to seeing what Martin gives us next.

Lines by Leon was a really nice break from the heavier books I’ve been reading lately. I truly enjoyed it. It was refreshing, some made me giggle a bit, and some made me think a lot! I don’t normally read or pick up books like this but I’ll be honest, the cover drew me in but the words inside kept me reading. It was awesome and I read it in one sitting.

Taking Flight by Brooke May is book two of the Code of Honor series. This book can be read as a standalone but honestly you don’t want to miss book one.

I really enjoyed this book. You get sucked right in and I couldn’t put it down! I really felt for Jody. She just wanted to not live in the shadows anymore. She had so much strength and courage to go out and start living for herself. I highly recommend this book!

Sam is lost within a world of evil and sacrifice, now that he is within his brother’s love he feels worthless. With their father still on the loose and knowing what pure evil he is Sam is feeling that the best for him is to leave this world and fine peace with his mother as an angel, but as he makes his last phone call to his brother he dials the wrong number changing his life, attitude and will to live to protect this lost soul.
Ellie is broken, her work although rewarding is deeply hurtful also, being the last call for someone who is in need and sometimes not being able to get there is becoming more and more stressful for her, but on New Year’s Eve she receives a random phone call which changed her life and she now can’t let he creep back into the evil world, they need to find a way to play his father at his own game and crush him once and for all.
OMG I have been waiting for this book to read and it did not disappoint, I love this series and all the brothers but Sam’s story nearly broke me. I do have to say that I would not recommend this book if you have not read the others in the series, this is definitely not a stand alone book, with that said this story is what you come to expect from India Kells full of action, twists and a well written story which has you engaged from the first word to the last.
As you only grab glimpses of Sam in the other book’s you know that there is a brilliant story lurching in his past and oh my did this story hit the right spot. Sam was always a lonely soul and getting to understand his darkness was brilliant and well written, the story draws you in and you want to grab Sam and just give him a hug. Ellie’s character is the greatest to compliment Sam, with her broken history also but the inner strength she shows when in situations is a great adventure to read.
Will they escape the evil clutches of his father or will they both be lost in the world Jamieson Finch has created you will have to read to find out, but I will say one thing you will not be disappointed. Can’t wait to read the next book in this wonderful series. Thank you India for allowing my imagination to come alive within your stories.

WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW!!! I really am having trouble finding the words to do this book the justice it deserves. This was such a brilliant, twisty, and unpredictable read that I really couldn’t put down till I had read every single last word! Those last few chapters- OMG!!! I did not see that coming, that’s for sure. So well done!! Highly recommended!!! Must read!!! The Third Nanny by Michele Pariza Wacek intrigued me from the moment I laid eyes on it. I quickly snapped up a copy and dove in as psychological thrillers are my favourite genre of all- and this one promised to be great. As this was my first read from Michele PW, I really didn’t know what to expect going in- but I am soooo happy that I found her, finally- I really don’t know why I haven’t come across her work before now as she has quite a few books to her name- but all is right in the world because now I have a new author to add to my ‘must read’ list. The most exciting thing is that she has so many more books for me to buy and devour!! I love that feeling of discovery! The thrill of knowing that you are about to go on an epic book binge with an author you know won’t disappoint and one who I know I will love whatever it is she chooses to write. For this little ol’ book worm, there is nothing better! From the moment I opened this book, the intrigue began. Janey receives a letter form her sister who has been missing for eight years. Eight years of not knowing what happened to her. Eight years of wondering why she left. Eight years of not knowing if she was even alive still. Then the letter arrives, and that in itself is a bit of a puzzle- the letter is somewhat disturbing, speaking of danger, and begging for help- but is it already too late? Janey is now desperate to find her sister. And so this amazing puzzle begins. Janey embarks on her quest that will see her unravelling the mystery of her sister’s disappearance, the secrets and lies that she will have to unwind in order to find the truth. Her journey of discovery had me on the edge of my seat the whole way along- trying to piece everything together before the final reveal. But the ‘big reveal’ left me reeling- I didn’t expect that at all. So well done!!! The last few chapters were intense!!! This is a gripping psychological thriller, with a stalker, twists and turns, layers, suspense, palpable tension, danger, an unpredictable storyline, secrets, lies, obsession, paranoia, trauma, investigation, emotion, and a quest for answers. There are flashbacks to past events that really help to build the backstory and also adds to the tension of the story. Things are definitely not what they seem on the surface. Michele PW certainly knows how to instil tension and a chilling, creepy factor to her storyline which made her book unputdownable! Can’t wait to explore the rest of her books. #MUSTREAD

Dark Bastard is the fifth book in the Dark Sparrow series by India Kells. I have been eagerly waiting for this book to kit my Kindle ever since finishing book four. As I have said so many times before, Ms. Kell’s never fails to deliver an exciting read, and this story certainly delivered on that count. It is becoming harder and harder to choose a favourite from the series as Ms. Kells ups the ante each and every time. This is a fantastic romantic suspense- full of tension, action, danger, chemistry, intrigue, dramatic developments, gripping and suspenseful details, complex characters, sizzle, romance, emotion, family , hope, love, and plenty more. As with every one of Ms. Kells’ books so far, I was hooked right from the beginning, I really couldn’t put it down and was glued to the pages- completely devouring it in a couple of hours as I needed to know what happens. As expected, the story is superbly written, with a complex and multi-layered storyline that proved to be not only emotional, but also an exciting and incredibly engrossing read. This is Sam and Ellie’s story- and OMG did I feel for those two. So much. They have been through so much and I was so happy they found each other- but that’s not to say there weren’t a few anxious moments through the story. I could feel their sadness and the weight of their ‘burdens’. Sam was ready to end it all- but a misdialled number connects him with Ellie- and so the adventure begins. I love how Ms. Kells is a master of interconnected details- and how the details in this book help to build on the previous ones- building a bigger picture of the brothers and their on-going father ‘issues’. And even though this book could be read as a standalone, there is much to gain by reading the previous four books first- which really do help to build a ‘bigger picture’. Plus, the other books are superb stories in their own rights! OMG- I have already pre-ordered the next book, ‘King Bastard’- as it looks set to be amazing!!! Can. Not. Wait!!!

Check Out (Bobbins Sisters Series Book 1) by Debra Parmley is a contemporary military romance. The story touches on PTSD and living with it myself made it easy to relate to our male MC. He is a war vet, and he is damaged both physically and mentally, but it those wounds within that scar the most. Scars from a past that tell a harrowing tale. But his are not the only scars around town. There is a sweet little Librarian who has scars of her own from the past. This story has a little bit of everything to keep the pages turning and giving you the feels

This was a very interesting take on body, mind, and health alterations. Makes you second guess what you allow to be put into your body and the effects it will have. Dr. Kite is not what he portrays. It left me feeling kind of freaked out to be honest. The three women are each unique in the help they are hoping to receive but is it worth it in the end? This is a very quick read that will keep you pondering for a while.

Manifested Dreams by Dr Yvonne Johnson is a wonderful complex story and one that will make your heart ache. It is stories of African-American history throughout generations. But it is not just storying it is an education. A lot of passion and heart and soul has gone into this book, and it shows in Yvonne’s writing. It is like leaving a legacy and a record of events to allow word to remain alive for others to keep long into the future. It is original and it is thought provoking that will take you on life’s journey. This inspiring story is short and quick, but it packs a punch. I wish it were longer.

Elfern, an Ellisian, is the youngest daughter of the current queen of Arcadia. She has never wanted to rule and has always had a soft spot for the Cadians, a physically stronger race that the Ellisians keep in check using their special powers, Negaforce. Unfortunately, her mother and sister does not feel the same. They see the Cadians for what they have always used them for: physical laborer’s and nursemaids. Everyone feels the tension beginning to bubble up between the two races.
Arcadia is ruled by woman, all Ellisian males born are sent off to be trained to become the Brethern. They also have the Negaforce ability, though theirs is not as strong as the woman. The Brethern are divided amongst themselves into four sects, each tattooing themselves to define to which they belong.
We follow Elfern as she tries to unravel mysteries of her race and coexistence with the Cadians. After escaping an assassination attempt on herself and finding out that her mother did not escape hers, Elfren starts to think of how things could change. How everyone can live together more harmoniously. Unfortunately she will have to go head to head with her cruel sister to implement her plans.
I sometimes have problems reading Fantasy novels because I get lost in trying to picture the world around them. Thankfully that was not the case thank to Colbourn’s world building. I also like the fact that she ended the book in a way that everything mostly wrapped up. I like that she didn’t leave you in suspense and awaiting a second book that will not come out for months. That being said, I will not say no to reading the next book if this is turned into a series.

Truly a tear-jerker, thank you for sharing you story. I don’t think I’ve ugly cried for so long. Growing up with a mentally ill parent hits so close to home. Some of the memories are so hard to read but they are therapeutic. By sharing her story she may help others. I was on the edge of my seat reading this. It is a very good book.

Psycho parents, deep buried secrets that are scary as heck and darkness. The characters are frightening in that there could be people like that in your neighborhood. The plot had me enthralled from page 1. Great thriller. Best of the year.

This memoir absolutely broke my heart! Some of this was triggering so be warned. I was in tears throughout the whole book. The trials and pain this author went through is just unbelievable to me. I honestly couldn’t put this book down even though my heart was begging me to because it was very difficult to read. No one should have to go through what this author went through. This is a book I think everyone should read at least one time in their life. It was sad, and heartbreaking, and pitiful and absolutely beautiful to see how successful she became. She has got an amazing story and I’m so glad she decided to share it with us all. Thank you so much Jessica Aiken-Hall!

This audio was a very good .. and I continue to love Dahlia’s strong character. This time around Dahlia and her detective partner are investigating a mystery of deaths. Mystery and twists along the way… will Dahlia be able to find out what is causing these deaths? Definitely check this book out. I enjoy the paranormal style of this series and looking forward to book 3! Great Narrator!

A cold New Year’s eve brought two sad and lonely people together through a wrong number. Sam and Ellie are two souls that were thinking the same thing. Sam picked up on the despondency in her voice and his desire to end it was gone. He had to find Ellie. Using his brother, Lazarus, skill, he finds her and their adventure begins. His father decides to wreak havoc and cause trouble. Sam and Ellie get themselves through this and prove love overcomes all. I love how the author ties together the two characters overcoming their issues to find the relationship they should be in. Though a bit dark, it’s also heartwarming and a bit of a tearjerker. I highly recommend

Zoe and Archer, are they who we think they are? The Dark Sparrows seem to be all full of secrets. Zoe seems to have left another life behind. Finch ends up kidnapping her. Can she and Archer work out the issues and get out of this mess? Can their love survive? This is one tough couple that I enjoyed watching get through the challenges life threw at them. They just blasted through them. Definitely a recommend.

You know you have a good book when you can picture yourself in the story. That is what this book did for me and finding out it was the fourth in the series was surprising. I did not read the first three but still was able to follow along. The characters of Will and Jessica are so relatable and the highs and lows of deciding on a relationship or protecting the heart are I’m sure decisions we’ve all made at one time or another. There was just enough romance coupled with the suspense that kept me turning the pages through to the end. Always wanting to find out what happened next. Will and Jessica are amid finally following their hearts when trouble comes calling. In the form of letters and pictures demanding money or there would be consequences. At first the letters are ignored as maybe it is just someone intimidating them but as the terrorizing escalates Will must seek refuge with the very person he’s trying to protect. Can Will protect Jessica from some unsavory characters? Will Jessica get the bed and breakfast finished in her own design or will her wandering travel thoughts carry her elsewhere? Can they move on from past hurt or will it tear Will and Jessica apart? You’ll have to read this book to find out what happens next. As for me I am going to read the other novels to see what happened to the other characters that appear in this story.

This is my first Dark Sparrow novel and I will certainly need to read all of the others! This novel is dark, sexy, scary and obsessive. Sam and Ellie have both come to the end of their ropes. They are ready to give up on life. A chance connection ignites a spark that could lead them both from the dark, should they be willing. Danger is everywhere until Sam strikes a deal with his horrific father. This book was compelling and addictive. A must read!

Liam, a cop shot on duty, and Catronia, a forensic financial expert, will be going through Finch’s financial records. Gab mentioned that Catronia was a sister (but not really one yet). Talk about complicated. This is a relationship full of challenges, flirting and inuendo. Toss in Finch and the brothers and it’s ripe for another fun chapter in the Dark Sparrow series. Great plot that keeps you reading for more. Well written characters that have such real personalities that jump right off the page. You should give this a try.

I give The Third Nanny: A twisted psychological thriller with a jaw-dropping ending (Secrets of Redemption) by Michele PW (Pariza Wacek), 5 stars.
I have read books in the past that were supposed to be psychological thrillers and they were, well okay. This book labels itself as a twisted psychological thriller. I was skeptical that it would live up to it, but was still interested enough to see what this book had in store for me. Right off the bat, it’s obvious that there is more going on than what meets the eye. The author has a brilliant way of slipping in more and more as the story goes on. You are left wondering what is really going on. There are so many angles here — I thought I knew what was going on, but no. Insert evil laughter from the author here.
This book was brilliantly written with so many twists and turn, you are left with your head spinning. The story is so good and unique, the characters are precisely written with so many levels to them. You really are left with wondering just who to root for and what the story of the missing girl really is about. If you are a fan of this genre, I so highly recommend it.
