Lyon Tamer by Jen Luerssen had me laughing out loud in parts. It is a romcom with plenty of humor, funny banter, and laugh-out-loud moments. The story is everything I have come to expect from Jen Luerssen, well woven, clever, witty, and entirely entertaining.
Sheldon Lock is a vet with a reputation as a bit of a player. He has been unlucky in love but has plenty of ‘experience’ between the sheets. Then he meets focused and determined Simone Lyon, who hasn’t got time for a relationship- her energy is aimed at raising funds to rescue big cats from captivity with her Freedom Roar Rescue organisation. But when Sheldon shows up to do some veterinary work- things take an awkward, but interesting turn….
A fun read!

This was a great 5 star read. This is my first read from this author and I really enjoyed it.

Lady Isabel is caught trying to right a wrong, however the Viscount doesn’t believe her intentions. He has been trying to find a wife and he thinks he has found the one that can help him. Will Isabel choose marriage or jail?

As these two spend more time together they grow closer. We get twists and turns that add a great element to the story. I loved the connection between these two. I really liked Lady Isabel, she was a strong character and The Viscount, all I can say is he was hawt and perfect. I was really happy with the ending. I look forward to reading more from this author. 1-click and get started today.

The Heart of Bakers Bay has just become my favourite read by Danielle Jacks. It is all about finding yourself, growth, and family- wrapped up in a sweet small town romance.
Jody’s life is a bit of a mess. She coasts through life one bumble to the next. She can’t seem to hold a job, and if it weren’t for her sister, she would have nowhere to live. Jody has no expectations of herself, no real goals, and her family treat her like a lost hope. Then her grandmother has an accident and next minute Jody finds herself with the task of running her gran’s small town café. Easy peasy, right? Well, not so much.
Adam is a local in town who doesn’t have time for outsiders. And definitely this outsider! Things are definitely about to get interesting…
I loved the growth and development that Jody went through- she really ‘grew up’ over the course of the story. Adam is so sweet, and he surely wasn’t expecting Jody to come bumbling into his life. But they are both tied together in their desire to help someone in need.
A sweet read!

Chatroom With A View by Glenn Maynard turned out to be not exactly what I was expecting. But in a creepy, thrilling, good way. I think I was expecting a bit of a serial killer/true crime expose. But instead, I got an intense thriller that kept me flipping the pages to find out what happens.
This is not a light read- it is dark, raw, gritty, gripping, tense, suspenseful, and somewhat creepy. There are twists and turns, dysfunctional family dynamics, some horror, intrigue, danger, and much more.
After a bit of a slow and unsteady start- the story quickly grabbed my attention and held my focus the whole way through. I did feel that the ending was a bit rushed- but these minor issues didn’t detract from my overall enjoyment of the story.

While it is an extremely short story, it felt like it went much faster than I would have ever expected. Short stories are hard for me to get into because they do go by so fast but when I heard about this book I felt like I absolutely needed to read it. Amari loses her grandma, someone she was incredibly close to and has to come to terms with what that loss really means and how to overcome the loss. It is a fantastic way to find a new author to fall in absolute love with, and I highly recommend it. When it comes down to it, this is what I recommend most people to do; is to read a short story or collected short story of an author. I am really looking forward to more from Yvonne Johnson in the future and will be keeping an eye on them to scoop them up immediately.

Another 5 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 from Author Danielle Jacks!! Nothing like a story being totally engrossed in and never wanting it to end. The story of Jody, whom cannot keep a job nor has very good experiences when it comes to keeping a job. When she goes to Clover Bay to help at her Gran’s cafe after her Gran’s accident, Jody learns so much more. Baking, helping to run a business and new friendships come along. We meet Adam, he is rough around the edges. I totally loved Adam’s character. First impressions when Adam meets Jody, he though she was “high maintenance”. You find out Adam falls for Jody and wants her to believe in herself when no one else can. Jody sees herself as a “mess up”. New friendships, love and loss …. I just loved loved loved this book. So happy for a great epilogue as well.

Dark, twisted and gripping
The world the author creates is brilliant. It draws you in and twists you about and then spits you out at the end leaving the reader stunned. The writing is flawless and storyline unpredictable. Even after I had finished the book I was thinking about it and trying to rationalise my feelings about Troy. I’m not going to give much more away. If you enjoy a good, unpredictable, psychological story then this is the book for you.

Georgia Clay (Southern Promises Book One) by KG Fletcher was a great read! This was a quick and sweet read. Also very steamy so definitely an 18+ book. I loved reading Clay and Katie’s story. They fit together so perfectly! I’ve actually been wanting to read this book and this series for awhile so I’m glad I finally got a chance to and I wasn’t disappointed! By the way this ended I’m pretty sure it’s a stand a long book and series and I can’t wait to read the next installment of this series.

Reading through the trial transcripts is a part of her research. Feeling that there is more to her story than the trial transcripts giveaway. Jumping in feet first she meets with Lillian Ross many times to hear her story.

Lillian Ross has lived a life of adversity. Her mother was a southern belle that just happened to fall in love with a man whose desire for power was greater than his love of family. After a particularly traumatizing experience as a teen, Lillian runs away from home. She meets Adam Laurent after being on her own for two months. She thinks he is her saviour. After a peaceful few months living off the street, Lillian comes face to face with the stark reality of the life of a female on the run and off the streets.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I was blown away. I love a good historical book but she exceeded all my expectations. This is a small book but don’t be fooled. This book will leave a huge impact in your heart. I started to read this story and I was hooked from the first page. I had a lot of different emotions run through me while reading this book. I can’t wait to see what this author will write next.

Amari is so sad that her grandmother passed away. She misses all the stories she used to tell her about where her family came from. Amari was so happy when she received a box full of letters from her past. She started reading the letters right away and she couldn’t believe how hard her ancestors fought to be free. Amari finds out the hard and good times they went through. Will Amari get comfort from these stories and feel closer to her grandma or will she feel like she never knew her at all?

Jody is what I would call an underachiever. She likes where her life is, and although she’s never kept a job for very long, it’s more about the familiarity with the places and people that she has in Manchester. Shortly after losing her job as a hotel maid, her grandmother in Clover Bay falls and hurts her wrist. Jody promises Adam that there will be a member of her family there the following morning to help. Much to her chagrin, her sister, Hannah, tells her that she will be the one to go to Clover Bay since she made the promise.

Adam is a lifer in Clover Bay. He enjoys his life in Clover Bay and doesn’t like outsiders. After Molly, the owner of The Botanist, Adam calls her granddaughter, Hannah, hoping that she can come and help while Molly recuperates after her accident. Instead, Adam is met by Jody at the top of the hill. She is dressed like a high maintenance, city girl, and he sees her as an intrusion to his quiet hometown.

After talking with Jody, Adam realizes that Jody is insecure. Her failings in life seem to be broadcast as she hopelessly tries to learn how to manage her grandmother’s tea shop and how to bake. Hoping he can make this a little easier, he takes small steps to help her achieve. During his time helping, Adam and Jody grow close. Can a small town man get a city girl like Jody to believe in the small town life? Or will Jody return to her city life?

Danielle Jacks did an amazing job with this sweet story.

I really liked this book. Important events in African American history are shared through letters written by young storytellers telling of the struggles throughout the generations of a family. Each letter is full of facts and feelings that show what it was like to live during these monumental events in history. It is a whole new perspective if you were close to the people it happened to. This is an important read for everyone! Having the opportunity to empathize with each of the storytellers and the people they tell of in their stories is so vitally important. The current and future generations need to understand what it was like to be African American and everything they have endured. A must read!

Chatroom with a View dives right into the story from the beginning. There isn’t a ton of time spent on setting the scene or providing backstory like in a lot of other novels I’ve read, but I personally prefer this. Troy is a complicated character and I didn’t know how to feel about him. I felt bad for him and at the same time hated him. But he was a well written character that makes you feel many different things. Overall it’s a darker psychological thriller that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This book pulls you in right from the start with super relatable characters who attend the dreaded 10-year high school reunion. I mean who hasn’t had nightmares about that thing and the way Ms. Fletcher draws you back into your own memories through the character descriptions and obvious high school cliques. So, when a chance encounter happens between Katie and Clay, the irresistible pull draws them closer together.
What starts with a simple admission from Clay about having a crush on Katie since high school turns into a full-blown fling. Will it be a one-time thing, or can Clay go against his ideas about having a long-distance relationship? Can Katie come to terms with promises made or risk the career she worked so hard for? This is a must-read romance book perfect for summer reading on the beach. The characters are incredibly relatable, and it’s hard not to want to find out what will happen between Katie and Clay!

Ms. Ackley McPhail certainly has a wild imagination that creates incredible stories for her readers. This will be my second series by Ms. Ackley-McPhail and I can’t wait to see what happens next.

Well, I’m not really sure where to start with a review for this book. Chatroom with a View opens with some of the most disturbing chapters of any novel I have read lately. Enter mid-twenty something Troy, still living at home with his parents. He believes that he can keep his mother safe from his abusive father by staying at home. But can he really? Throw in Troy’s ex-girlfriend Veronica–stalker, determined, and claiming to be pregnant, and Troy is overwhelmed by life. When he finally decides to get revenge on those who have messed up his life and others like his, it all falls apart. Veronica begins digging into Troy’s family history, only to learn that Troy’s ancestor is none other than Lizzie Borden.

This is a solid 5 star read. Although I did not connect with the characters because I couldn’t relate to their situations, the story was so twisted, dark, and unpredictable that I was drawn into it anyway. This book is one of the best written ones I have read in a long time. The pace of the story is perfect, and make the book impossible to put down. Highly recommend and will be looking forward to reading more from Glenn Maynard!

Journeys through SpaceTime (Book 1) by James Talisman is an intense page turner! This isn’t a typical genre of book for me to pick up, but I am sure glad I did! This book is so engrossing that it is hard to believe it’s a debut novel. It is quite obvious that the author planned and fleshed out his ideas and plot-line in order to make it not only good, but believable as well.
There are several different narratives weaved together, and each one is compelling and unique. I find the story itself to be so interesting, and I love how each character believes and experiences similar things, and yet they are so completely different. Like I said, this story is intense and there is a lot going on straight from the get go, but if you hang with it, it’s totally worth it. That being said, it is not hard at all to get swept up with each character because they are described so well. All in all, the entire novel is well-written, well-planned, and well-executed. I am stoked to get my hands on the next installment and give a 5 star recommendation to this book and author.

Bittersweep is a romance taking place in the late 1890’s Texas but it has a mystery aspect to it as well. The main character, Elizabeth, left Bittersweep when she was kicked out of town at 5 years of age. Years later, she returns with a school teacher job and under a false name. She has questions about her past and she thinks she can only get answers from Bittersweep. Elizabeth is a very stubborn and witty woman, also very pretty who can turn the heads of almost all of the men who see her. She meets a man by the name of JP who seems familiar but she can’t quite put her finger on it. All she knows is not to trust his last name.

JP is what you would picture when you imagine a stereotypical 1890s rancher. Strong, handsome, and intelligent but with a soft spot. Both characters are very likeable from the beginning. I was rooting for them to get together the first time they met. JP immediately has a soft spot for Elizabeth. Being in charge of most of the town, he was involved in finding out who, what, where, when and why of a body was found shortly after a bank robbery took place.

I really enjoyed this book due to all the different aspects it touched along the way. It wasn’t just a romance, which made it so much more interesting to me.

This is the 3rd book in The Journals Trilogy series.  This is a Romantic Suspense and is just under 4 hours listening time.  This is a dark romance so only 18+ should listen and there are situations in the story that could also cause triggers.  This story follows Quinn, Stone, and Walker.  Due to her past, Quinn has been through the wringer and that has made her stronger.  She will do whatever it takes to keep her family safe.  Stone guided her to become who she is today.  All she wanted was to move forward and away from her past.  Stone is there to make sure Walker never comes back.  This trilogy was an intense one and the narrator did a fantastic job with it!

I am sitting here trying to come up with words to express my thoughts on this book and i dont think i can even come close to doing it any justice.
We meet Samantha, and like any mother would do, runs at the first word of anything happening with her child, grown or not.

Through the events she wants revenge of course but with some help she gets a purpose to her life again while working towards that goal.

I really hope we get more of this story or even more of the characters on this one. I was hooked to see what happened and I will be the first to say i am not a fan of flipping between past and present but it was done well here and needed for the story.

Julia Colbourn is a new author to me and I am so glad that I picked up this book. Normally I do not go by covers and in this book I went by the cover. This author knows how to keep me in suspense. This plotline was off the charts. I would consider this to be a fantasy book. There were some undertones of politics, discrimination, dark drama, and assassination. It also shows the women as the top of the world and the men slaves. The characters are intriguing, so much that I felt as if they could be real and on another planet. The story did take me on a roller coaster ride. I kept wanting to see what was coming next that sometimes there was a twist in the story that floored me. Living in this world would change the outlook of a woman and a man. What transpires in my mind is still working out the details. I highly recommend this book. I cannot wait to read more from Julia Colbourn.

Oh my stars!! Georgia Clay is such a sweet romantic story! It will draw you in from the beginning, it sure did me! I’m such a hopeless romantic who loves a great HEA too! Being the first in it’s series it is quiet the perfect southern love story! I LOVED the book oh so much. I fell in love with the characters and the author’s smooth writing style. Was just awed with Katie and Clay’s story it was light and fun, it definitely had its share of steam too. First time read from this author and am so excited to read the next book in this series!

This is another fantastic read by Fletcher. This story had me on the edge of my seat the entire time. You’ll fall in love with Georgia Clay and Katie.

Katie is loving her career filled life. Never one to take time off. She goes to her high school reunion and finds herself with Clay Watkins. One thing leads to another and she is falling hard. The quote I chose Katie is: “I can’t believe it’s happening. I’m finally traveling and it’s not for work.”

Clay is a big up and coming music writer. He’s penned some great songs big name artists have sung. Going to the ten year reunion was just what he needed. The quote I chose for Clay is: “I know it’s selfish of me, but I really just wanted to hang out with you for a little longer before I head back to Nashville. I’m not ready to say goodbye to you, Katie Parker.”

Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.

Unlikely in Love is the first book in the Parker Lake series by Olivia Sherwood and I really enjoyed the book. Ms. Sherwood has a way of getting you wrapped up in the story and does a great job developing her characters, even ones that you really don’t think have a big part in the story itself. I have read a few of her earlier books and this is the best one she has written to date.

Annie gets exactly what she deserves when she and Wyatt find their way to one another. She is such a caring soul and the love she has for her late Granny and all of their animals, not to forget her two best friends. She didn’t have the best beginning in life but thankfully her Granny stepped in and took care of her and raised her to be one incredible woman.

Wyatt is an Army Vet who is able to let his emotional wounds heal once he and Annie start working together and they develop their friendship. He is also a caring soul and will do anything for those he loves.

Looking forward to keeping up with this series and these characters since I tend to develop a deep relationship with the characters in the series I like.

The Girl and the Raven: A YA Paranormal Romance by Pauline Gruber is a well written YA story. It is so easy to connect with this book and become involved with the story. I thought Lucy was such a relatable character. Even with her newfound gifts she still felt very much like a girl trying to find her place. And that is something every girl can relate to!
This is a new author to me and I was surprised by how refreshing her take on this genre was. I enjoyed every part of this book from the moment I started reading. I would definitely recommend this author and I am looking toward to discovering more of her work.

The Heart of Baker’s Bay by Danielle Jacks is a quick and romantic story that I found to be sweet and heartwarming. I thought Jody and Adam were so well suited for each other. They each had their own pasts and experiences that made then slightly reluctant but once they got past the reticence their connection was great.
This isn’t my first book by this author and I always enjoy her stories. They are easy to read with great characters and great storylines. I don’t hesitate to pick up one of her books because I know it will be worth the read. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to more of her work.

Its the story of Jody Meadows whose twin sister is a county sensation Jilly Meadows. Jody has felt like she lives in Jilly’s shadow all her life. While Jilly is on tour in Germany Jody meets Holt Preston who is on leave from the Air Force and set on having a good time. Jody is fed up with her sister and looking to be free from her. When Holt mistakes Jody for her sister things heat up between them. When Jody starts falling for Holt and realizes she wants her life back and to try for her own dreams she enlists the help of Holt. Jilly is a super spoiled brat who thinks that she should have whatever she wants whenever she wants it and is not used to being told no so when Holt tells her no and stands up for Jody she is shocked. Not all heroes wear capes. I enjoyed the complexity of the plot and the development of the characters. I admired the approach that Manda took in creating the main characters, the vulnerability of Grumbler regarding his age and how the opposite sex views him (this alpha male combating his insecurities). There are two sides to a coin; with Grumbler there is no difference; he is a badass who gets things done and on the other hand, he’s an absolute sweetheart when it comes to those he calls family. Can Mary be a more kick-ass understanding mom! I loved how she was portrayed in this novel. Go, Mary! There were certain situations in the novel that did not sit well with (unfortunately for some this is a reality); bless the heavens justice was served. Readers beware. I recommend this slow-burn intriguing page-turner.
