No Strings Attached by Lara Ward Cosio – Review by Jules Herbert

No Strings AttachedNo Strings Attached by Lara Ward Cosio
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

No Strings Attached by Lara Ward Cosio was the first book by Ms WC that I have read and I have to say I loved it from start to finish! Such great characters and a wonderful storyline that had a great mix of fun, laughter and tears.

Single mum Kayla is focused on her beautiful daughter and her management position at work she doesn’t have time for some hot guy to come along and shake things up but that’s exactly what Tanner does when he comes into her life. Nether intend their for “friendship” to be more than something to create mutual satisfaction with no strings attached, it soon becomes apparent though that avoiding those strings isn’t going to be so after all. Throw in an annoying Ex returning and a well meaning little sister and you definitely have some interesting times ahead.

This author never disappoints! I LOVED this story and its characters. It is very relatable on many levels. It has highs and lows and hits all the emotional buttons.

Its hard to pick a favorite character because I enjoy each for different reasons. We read from each of their POV so its easy to feel what they are feeling. I really enjoyed Tanner because of his work ethic but also his helpfulness and love. I liked that the children were written well and antics are within their age brackets.

Overall this is a definite one click. I loved the humor, sense of family, romance and how this has many layers. This author nailed this one!

Born to Fight (Can’t Resist You Book 1) by Brittany Anne – Review by Jenni Bishop

Born to Fight (Can't Resist You, #1)Born to Fight by Brittany Anne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Born to Fight (Can’t Resist You Book 1) by Brittany Anne is an apocalyptic dystopian romance story. It is a tale that makes you think that their reality could in fact one day be our reality. This gripping tale had me turning page after page as I was riveted to the story. I was in the zone and completely oblivious to anything around me. So much so I realised hubby was walking away from me shaking his head. Anyhoo, this wonderful story is full of action and danger, drama and suspense, adventure, and mystery. You can feel the passion of Brittany’s words as you journey through the lies and secrets, hope and frustrations, pain, and sorrow of the characters.

Can enemies become more? Grab this book to find out.

To be a Fae Queen (Realm Chronicles Book 1) by Tricia Copeland – Review by Dahnielle Hibbert

To be a Fae Queen (Realm Chronicles #1)To be a Fae Queen by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Enchanting! Stunning! Breath-taking! So many descriptive words to choose from, but these three stuck out the most. Author Tricia Copeland is very gifted and brings her stories to life, making you the reader feel like you are immersed in the story. Her characters are well thought out, fully developed and polished giving us an incredible understanding of each and every one.

In To Be A Fae Queen we are surrounded by mystery from almost the instant the story begins. Mystery surrounding the Fae King Oberon of Aubren, the queen herself and the crystals leave you wanting more. Titania although young in age (only 15) seems on the precipice of life. She wants to be taken seriously, but seems as if she is not really sure how she should go about it. All her attempts are thwarted by her father the King as he wants nothing more than to keep her safe. Titania fights for her right to the throne and takes us on an epic journey as she attempts to solve the magical mystical mysteries that are plaguing her kingdom.

I love the details Ms. Copeland added to this book. The simplest being the map, however while simple, the map really aides in your expedition throughout the tale! I love the unmitigated brilliance of Ms. Copeland’s artisanship.

The less sensational truth is I get dialysis because my kidneys are useless.
But admitting that sad truth tends to reduce an ambitious, fit, plucky journalist to “you poor sick girl.”
That is so not who I am! Especially not at the Cannes Film Festival.
I’m here to schmooze, interview, and hunt scoops for my magazine. Above all, I’m here to pursue a major story that will be my breakthrough.
The key to the bombshell is a local man called Arnaud. The cocky studmuffin—bless his heart—thinks he can charm me out of my panties.
Shall I tell him he’ll fail at the sleeves?
Not yet. Not before I find out how much he knows.
And how much I can get him to blab.

A story of second chances. Cassandra Verlice ran from Rhett Farris five years ago. Cassandra isn’t really sure why she ran. All the reasons she had when she left didn’t make sense after her plane took off and she was on her way to a new life. When Cassandra received the call that an aunt she barely knew willed her a house practically in Rhett’s back yard, it didn’t matter. Cassandra was just going to walk away. A startling experience made Cassandra realize that all she wanted in her life was Rhett. If she went back, could she win him back? Would he even talk to her? Her plan was nearly perfect.

Rhett Farris’ life was in the process of major adjustment. His brother, Tom, had gotten downsized just days prior to his wife leaving him via email. Tom moved in with their father, whose diagnosis of dementia was becoming more apparent. When the senior community their father was living in got shut down, Rhett asked Tom and their father to move home. If that wasn’t enough, she sauntered back onto Rhett’s ranch. Cassandra Verlise.

Rhett and Cassandra could have a second chance if Rhett is willing to forgive. Rhett and Tom could have a second chance if they can work together regarding their father. Rhett and his father could have a second chance at a relationship in the time that his father has left if Rhett can put old anger and hurt aside. Can Rhett capture any of these chances? Only one is answered. The others are left open for interpretation. I hope there is a sequel so that some of the questions can get answered!

Two hunks vying for your attention…what a problem to have! Kayla had a seriously hot romance with Rad. It fizzled so that he could continue his journey as a rock star in Europe. Kayla was hurt but survived because the relationship gave her a daughter. Kayla has dedicated her life to her daughter for the last five years. Kayla’s best friend is encouraging Kayla to go out and have a life. Just as Kayla starts to do that, Rad shows back up.

Tanner is crazy busy right now. He is leading a crew on a new building. He is helping his pregnant sister care for her twin boys while her husband is deployed. He is trying to start his own contracting firm so that his brother-in-law comes home to job. He has no time for a relationship or dating despite what his sister thinks. When Tanner catches the woman from the apartment across from the construction site checking him out in the coffee store, he accidentally uses her name to get out of another set up by his sister. Except, now his sister wants to meet her. Will Kayla agree to this scheme? Is it more than it appears?

The chemistry between Kayla and Tanner left scorch marks on my phone! I was hooked from the beginning. There were great moments and then moments I just wanted to smack Rad. Rad’s only redeeming quality is that he figured out how important his daughter is. Great read!

I’m a sucker for a good slow burn romance, and this one had me hooked. With the perfect amount of sweet and saucy, No Strings Attached had me turning page after page. Tanner is what every girl wants to read in a book boyfriend and the banter between him and Kayla was on point with both some sizzle and humour thrown in. I love stand-alone romances that give me that warm happy feeling, would definitely recommend to Romance lovers.

A great start to a YA fantasy. I loved the world Tricia Copeland has created in this series, so in depth and grabs your imagination. The main character Titania is very mature and strong willed for her age, with lots of development over the course of the book which had me rooting for her. Action packed and fast paced, I really enjoyed the plot and intensity of drama. I will definitely be reading the next book, and more from this author.

Love’s Refrain (The Stardust Duet – Book 1) by KG Fletcher is a sweet romance that takes you on a time travel trip. From the start the description of the Grand Theater and the way Kat Monroe reacted to all the renovations and old nostalgic momentous and posters had me captivated. What a gorgeous setting. Kat is a Jazz singer who is finishing up a world tour in her hometown. She feels so lucky to be returning to the Grand Theater in Georgia. When Phillip Gordon gives Kat a locket, she is unsettled until she finds a portal to a different time. Will the burden of time travel be something Kat and Philip can manage? Thank you Ms. Fletcher for such a beautifully written story of love.

What a world to get lost in! Titania has trained for this day for years. When her father won’t listen to her about how to take out the evil lurking in their realm, she takes things into her own hands to defeat them and seal the opening. With her father injured, he passes the crown on to Titania. When someone stands up to dispute her reign because he wants to see his son on the throne, will it be the end of Titania’s reign already? She shows strength and wisdom when she is confronted.
Her best friend Foster transfers when she becomes Queen. He is just a soldier and doesn’t want their relationship to interfere with her new position. Transfers?!?!
Can Titania live up to the expectations of being Queen? Her family has ruled for generations, will that be ripped away from her? Was so excited to learn there is a new book coming in January 2022.

I loved the first book in this series, I was excited for the second one as well and it did not disappoint. This book starts off right before Donovan and Shirley are about to get married. But Shirley finds out she is pregnant. Unfortunately, the Coalition is mad about this and the couple has to go on the run to protect their unborn child.
This book was so well put together, from literally everything and anything that happened it was amazing from start to finish. It was a great read. it is a little bit lower key than the previous one in the series.
It is an amazing read and written perfectly. If you enjoyed the first one, I truly think that you need to read this one too! I highly recommend this book, well worth a read! Seelie Kay is an amazing author and did an amazing job on this series.

I love fantasy novels! Especially ones with a strong female lead. This book was very good. Titania is such a strong character. She’s dealt with so much at a young age and still thrives. I cannot wait to read more of her and her family’s story. Will there be a time when she’s able to live without threat to the fae world? What of her and her suitors? So many questions that I hope gets answered in the next book.

Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

When I came across Scarlet Princess by authors Robin D. Mahle & Elle Madison, I was definitely interested and curious. It ended up being very unexpected and so much more than I could hope for going in! I absolutely loved it!
Rowan, a Lochlann princess, gets arrested for smuggling vodka from the lands of Socair. Being faced with impending death in her future based on what The Summit decides, she starts to get close and break through the facade of Lord Theodore on the Elks Clan. Rowan’s personality as fiery, as her red locks of hair, is a force to be reckoned with. I love the power and strength the authors have given her.
Diving deep into the lands of Socair and it’s people, the authors created a world that made the reader feel for its people. Continuing on this adventure to The Summit and experiencing it makes me want more.
I can’t wait till book 2 is released! I’m ready now but I know we have to wait. I can’t even describe everything I feel, but anyone who decides to read this I guarantee will feel the same way!

I really enjoyed this book. It’s hard to believe even from Rowan’s point of view, that smuggling could get you the consequence of death. Her cousin makes me laugh. He is rambunctious but also careful when he needs to be, especially when Rowan takes risks and often makes choices that may not always be the right one. I hope to continue reading this series as I had to read it through without stopping.

Seelie Kay really brought the suspense in book two of the Donovan Trait series, Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! I would personally recommend that you read the first book before diving into this one as it really is a continuation and we get everything set up in that one, besides it is fab as well! This one we find Donovan and his wife in all sorts of shenanigans as they simply want to begin a life together and start a family… of course that is not going to be an easy task given the genetics at play. When vampire nuns are introduced things become even more crazy but keeps the things fun and interesting to say the least! I look forward to seeing what the next book will bring!

Okay this is a difficult one simply because I don’t know where to start with how much I loved this book. I really enjoy all the genres that are touched on in this book but really this one is one to pick up right now for the spooky season we just entered and I bet you will find yourself loving it for so many more reasons as well! Weep, Woman, Weep may have that deep connection to La Llorona and the deep rooted folklore that goes into it but it also has a wonderful underlying story full of a strong woman’s voice and how she goes about finding that. I really loved the components and how well this book came together. You could tell as you read this was a blood sweat and tears novel that had hours and hours poured into it by Ms. DeBlassie. It shows and pays off from the gorgeous cover to the very last words. I can’t wait to possess a hardcopy to read time and again. This is one I will devour over and over again as I am sure you will want to when you finish!

The Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink AUDIO TOUR – Review by Shadel Ayerbe

The Sound of SilenceThe Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink is full of dark romance and suspense.

Every day, she reminds herself of a popular proverb: What does not kill us makes us stronger. People believe she lives an ideal life with her perfect spouse, but they are unaware of the reality. She was easily crushed — shattered, just as he intended her to be — like the fragile petals of the daisies he liked to gift. She has learnt to accept the situation as it is, but she will not allow it to ruin her. Instead, she does the only thing she knows how to do in order to survive: she runs.

He was certain she had a tale to tell. He was aware that it was going to involve violence, but he had no idea the atrocities she had endured. He’d waited so long, and she’d been through so much. Her scars were more than skin deep, yet she was exquisite in every way. It was nearly difficult to tell the difference between truth and lies, but he knew her secret. Nonetheless, he couldn’t help but want to go closer. She was powerful, and strength had its own beauty. It drew him in — and she drew him in. He wished to remove her nightmares and provide her with something fresh to fantasize about.

I loved this story and the concept of it as well.I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is the first book from this author and I can’t wait to read more.

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! (Donovan Trait Book 2) by Seelie Kay – Review by Santana Hicks

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass!Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved the first book in this series so I was really excited for the second one as well and it did not disappoint. This book starts off right before Donovan and Shirley are about to get married. Come wedding day, Shirley finds out she is pregnant. It’s a miracle! Unfortunately the Coalition disagrees and the couple has to go on the run to protect their unborn child.

This book is a lot more mellow than the previous one in the series. It focuses on Donovan and Shirley settling down into their new life on the run. Bringing laws into the Vampire Coalition to try to get them to change their outdated ways. Also, figuring out this miracle pregnancy between a vampire and a recently turned human. What will come of the baby? The mother? I recommend reading this book and the previous if you haven’t already done so!

Seelie Kay is an amazing author, who would have thought of a Vampire lawyer? The way she writes Donovan’s character really got me in the mindset of an old timey gentleman. The way he talks and his personality traits. Then there is Shirley who is a sweet fiery judge. Both Donovan and Shirley are so different from each other but they just work. The flow of the book was just right. I sincerely hope there is going to be a third in this series!

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! (Donovan Trait Book 2) by Seelie Kay – Review by Ashley Dover

Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass!Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The second book of the Donovan Trait series is even better than the first! Judge Shirley Magnusen and Lawyer/Vampire Prince Donovan Trait head to the alter for their big day.

Getting married is a big deal. Lots of planning all for about thirty minutes of talking and vowing. But getting hitched with a vampire prince is a whole different ball game. Especially when it is more of a reminder of the Vampire Law. For Shirley, it was a long, but beautiful affair. That is until after the wedding when Donovan and his father revealed some news that they had kept from the coalition.

Where human law has some areas for interpretation by the courts, vampire law is black and white. To get married, they had to sign a contract with the coalition. Violating that contract could result in exile or death. Is anything in life worth the possibility of death? Yes! Yes, it is!

Follow this tale of Donovan and Shirley Trait’s battle against the coalition. A fight that may in the end lead to a revolution in the vampire community. (To be continued in the next book of the series)
