First- the Unexplained Crimes Unit? LOVE that addition to the series and especially Det. Alex Creed. There’s so much going on in this series that I’m afraid saying much more would be spoiling the fun for others. All I’m gonna say is Dahlia continues to be a badass- as well as the rest of characters continue to be pretty badass themselves. It’s another mystery worthy of the Nite Fire series and I’m really excited about the next one!!

I absolutely love Gina for her bravery. I just wanted to give her one big hug. I was so happy when she found Bryce even though she is closed off. I love how they wanted to work and were willing to make it work. Real relationships show work, and this showed it!

I REALLY enjoyed the first book in the series and just couldn’t wait to start on the next. I didn’t know how well I would enjoy this one considering how much i loved the first. My fears were totally unfounded. There was another great mystery, drugs that blow people up/make them monsters?? Super cool! I love Dahlia and Casey was really a treat. There is so much development to the storyline and to Sentinel City- that it really makes you wish you were there/experiencing it! Y’all should read the first and then hope onto this one! I’m eager for the next!
A Hundred Wishes (Band of Sister) by Marianne Rice is a contemporary romance- about finding love unexpectedly and taking a chance on love. It has a wounded warrior component to it, as well as emotion, secrets, and sizzling chemistry. This book could be read as a standalone, but you might find as I did, that one book will lead you to wanting to read more. Gina’s life got turned upside down when she was wounded by a roadside bomb while serving in the army two years ago. She has bravely rebuilt a life for herself, but never really puts herself ‘out there’, always keeping her distance so as not to feel the sting of hurt or rejection. But when Bryce enters her world, he seems to be able to scale the massive walls she has surrounded herself with. Will he be able to handle ALL her secrets, dismantle her defences, and get her to take a chance on love? Another emotional and yet heartwarming story from this talented author. Looking forward to more….. Happy Reading!

I love dragons. I love badass heroines. And I’ve always loved books where it focuses on a consultant type person for the cops. This has it all! I just adore Dahlias character and how multifaceted she is. This book has all that plus a delicious murder mystery that kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat. I felt like i consumed this book and am about to devour the second. Read it y’all!

Devoured this book in one day, and stayed up past my bedtime to do it!
Brynn is finally free and able to live her dreams. She is starting a new chapter in her life and pursuing her passion! She soon finds out, however, that its not as easy as she thought. A chance encounter with a hockey start has her starring her past right in the face, and facing old heartache. Can she move past her pain? Will she make her dreams a reality? Levi has been through a bunch, yet he has been able to channel it and make something of himself. When he has an opportunity to fix his one big regret, will he do it? Will she let him?
The instant chemistry between the two MCs is what romance novels are made of. The story was everything you would expect from a romance, yet unpredictable making it so that you absolutely left this world behind and were transfixed by their story. There is a found family here, strong bonds, and passion! Its a perfect book to curl up with and escape to dreams of true love and fated souls. Tia is likely my favorite character because I love her no-nonsense attitude! I also really enjoyed Bridger and I am so excited to get more of him and Tia.
I read this book not knowing there was a prequel story, but I did not get lost at all. Just when I finished, I thought about how great it would be to get the backstory of those particular characters, and BAM! They have their story, so I am definitely picking that up! haha.
If you are looking for a romance story that is relatively short and easy to get lost in, give this one a shot!

Even though I have never set foot in South Carolina I feel like I just took a trip there with the expertly woven masterpiece this author wrote. If you read this book you will be taken on a trip through history with a families secrets revealed, some wonderful some not so much. Power Play is the first book in the Astoria Bay Thunder series by C.J. Cartwright. This is a second chance sports romance with emotion, angst, drama, chemistry, sizzle, banter, heartache, and new beginnings. It is the first book that I have read from this author, so I was excited to see what the story would be like. Levi and Brynn have a history which left them both broken-hearted. Levi went on to find success as a star hockey player in those ten years, while Brynn is looking for a fresh start after her recent divorce. When fate reintroduces them, the sparks between them reignite- but will the pain of their past keep them from taking a second chance on love? It is worth the read to find out. I loved Levi immediately, but it took a while or me to connect with Brynn. I think her mother needed a good serve of humble pie though. There were parts of the story that I would like to have known more about or see happen, such as her mother getting the karma due to her, or finding out more about Brynn’s ex and the divorce etc- but not because the story was lacking in any way, just because I am nosy lol. I have become an Astoria Bay Thunder fan now, so I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the rest of the series. Happy reading!

Marco and Elena have loved each other since they were kids, but being mafia royalty is a hard life. Elena was targeted from a young age due to her mother’s past and Marco pulled back from her as kids because he knew she was already promised to another. As Elena got older she went in to hiding to protect everyone from the Russian mafia as they were the ones trying to find her. Marco goes to get her as this may be the only way to truly keep her safe is to bring her back to her family and to be married into the mafia heads as added protection. Could there love truly prevail after all this time apart?
This was a really interesting read – it was a little out of my comfort zone but the synopsis sounded interesting so I thought that I would give it a go and I wasn’t disappointed. I found myself really engaged in the story and with Amy’s character. I was really hoping that she would find out what she wanted to about her father. There was a good amount of suspense in the story which definitely kept me wondering whilst I was reading. I haven’t read anything by this author previously so I think I would definitely like to read the previous book to this and find out more about some of the characters. Overall, a really interesting story and one that I would recommend.
Yet again another fantastic read from this author. I don’t think I will ever tire of reading her stories they always grab my attention from the first page until the last. There was honestly so much going on in this story I was definitely on the edge of my seat at times. I loved Marco and Elena’s story; it was fantastic to read. I really loved Elena, with everything she had to contend with she showed such strength of character when faced with danger. Marco has this wonderful mafia dark broodiness to him and the fierce protective side which I loved! He’s definitely swoon-worthy!! As always, I cannot wait to read more from this author! She is a firm favourite of mine!
I really enjoyed this story – second chance romance together with sports romance makes for my perfect read! I’ve not read anything by this author previously ad I really liked their writing style. The story flowed well and had a great pace to it. I loved the chemistry between the two main characters it felt real and believable. They had a genuine connection and I loved reading about them. As well as the two main character Levi and Brynn, there were also their friendships with other characters that made the story too. I loved the interaction and banter between them all. This was a great read and I am definitely looking forward to more from the series.

Power Play (Astoria Bay Thunder Book 1) By CJ Cartwright
5-stars
I absolutely loved this second chance romance read, I’m always a huge fan of hockey romance reads, something about all of the confident/cocky players does it for me.
Right from the get go I was hooked, I was instantly intrigued by the characters and couldn’t wait to find out all about them. This is one of those books that I was able to read in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading.
This author managed to create so many dynamic characters, both main and secondary, and now that I’ve finished this book I will impatiently wait for the rest of the series! If you are looking for a great second chance romance read look no further this is the one for you!

Oh my goodness this book is so good! I absolutely loved it. I couldn’t put it down until the very last page. The mafia background, the arranged marriage, the secret crushes, from frenemies to lovers. This is the best book I’ve read so far. I am becoming more and more a fan of this authors books. She writes awesome stories. Can’t wait to read more.
A Hundred Wishes is the 3rd book in the Band of Sisters series about a close group of former military woman who have become a family. This book focuses on Gina, who left the service after a roadside bomb badly injured her and changed the course of her future. She now spends her time crafting and selling her products at the local markets. This is where she meets Bryce, an arson investigator who has an instant attraction to Gina, even though the first meeting is full of hostility and misunderstanding. The chemistry between Gina and Bryce is wonderful and both must face certain fears with the other to move forward into the relationship they both desire. This book is fast paced, full of love among the family you make and the ones you allow into your personal bubble.
Wild Hare’s daughter was pleasantly good! I love magic books and anything about fairies and this one did not disappoint. I loved reading about Amy coming to terms with herself and finding out who she was. It was also nice to have Bobby’s point of view as well. Overall a great story!
This was an excellent second-chance romance book. Brynn and Levi get their chance to see if they can rekindle the love they missed out on when they were younger. Of course, there are a few problems to tackle. Loved the characters. They each had little parts of them that I could relate to. I loved the hockey theme. I grew up in Denver and went to some DU games. There was nothing like some college hockey. The plot was excellent for me as an older reader that has had a few chances at love. I love the series and will be looking forward to reading more. Hit the click button and read it. You will love it too.

Gina survived a bomb attack in the army. Bryce is an arson investigator with the fire department. Two people less likely to be together. Boy, do the sparks ignite with these two. Gina is quick to turn down and reject Bryce. Bryce doesn’t give up. He tags along on the group activities with her friends. Gina is surprised and decides to give in. These two have some challenges to work through in order to have a relationship. Can they do it? Well-written with some humor scattered throughout. The characters feel like they are your neighbors from the neighborhood. Down home and friendly, they would bend over backwards for you. They are so relatable. The plot is well written and flows well. Terirfic book that I hope to read more in the series. You should get out and read this too. I would definitely give it more than a 5 if I could.
This was such a good feeling type of book, I had a lot of fun reading it, and enjoyed how things progressed and took place. The two main characters had their pasts, and their presents. What they needed though was their future. Perhaps it was right there staring them in the eye, and they both just had to embrace it?
This was actually a first time author read for me in all honesty, but I really enjoyed the descriptive senses for my sensory the author had used. It was like an art masterpiece, no spot or feeling went unlooked at, or in this case felt. It was beautiful and had the emotions associated as well. The story was a masterpiece being painted as the story went on, I could not help but love Gina and Bryce, They were two souls you really wanted to find their own happiness, and be to basically be happy. Loved them!
Something that I enjoyed in this book that is a bit different from other romance books I have read and enjoyed, was the fact that the characters had scars that were so vivid you could feel them for yourself. They were there, they hid them, yes, but when they surfaced, they were impacting. You felt every hardship, pain, and tear in those words written on the papers. It was real and powerful
This author is really amazing with her writing, and I could not put this one down at all. It was a book I just wanted to spend all day reading and well enjoying to say the least. Do not pass up this author or this amazing series, both are a very high and strong recommendation from me for sure. I will defiantly be reading more by this wonderful author, as well as the prior books in the series and new ones to come.
Marco is now a very powerful man with the family, but he still thinks back to the woman who left his heart in shatters is alive and kicking but in trouble.
Elena Caruso went on the run years ago, changing everything about her she let go of the family and all the people she loved, but someone has found her, and she must return to the group of people who she left. Coming back into the fold will not be easy but the most likely person is going to look after her, Marco La Rosa. Will he be able to put the hurt behind him to grab his future?
OMG when you get an Amy McKinley book you know what you are getting, full of action and drama with a twist of thriller deep. The characters are always rich and well developed and that is no different with these wonderful people in Marco and Elena. The story flows through and engulfs you with the drama of Elena’s situation and the determination of Marco to protect her to the bitter end.
The secondary characters also add depth and dimension to the story and will have you gripped until the end. The author always creates these strong female character who can hold their own with their male counter parts and Elena is no exception. It breaks your heart that Marco has had loved this woman for a long time but because of the loyalty to his family he has watch from a far and not pursued his happiness until the day she comes back into his life, to see the struggle he has with his feelings gives this dangerous man a soft side and seeps into your soul.
I can’t wait for the next instalment in this gripping series.

This was a really emotional and at times funny romance. It is third book in the Band of Sisters series. The author does a great job with these characters. She takes the devastating accident that happens to Gina and really shows you how this effects a person even after the fact. Gina has been through so much and still fights everyday however she is still a strong woman who speaks her mind which is what I enjoy. Her strength is inspiring.
Bryce wants to get to know Gina. He didn’t know he was looking for someone until he met her but her attitude towards him makes him wonder if the attraction is mutual. He also gets the feeling that she is hiding something from him. Something that stops her from giving herself to him completely but he can’t understand what it is or what he needs to do to get her to share that thing with him.
This story is definately a rollercoaster of emotions. The things the couple go through keeps you wondering if their relationship with ever succeed. There are places where you feel like begging Gina to tell him just so they can move forward together but you also feel the fear that Gina has of being rejected. It is a beautiful story about when you find the one you need to fight no matter the barriers that you need to overcome and Gina needs to learn to let her guard down and let someone into her life.
Second chance hockey romance This is Levi and Brynn’s story about a second chance at romance. I really enjoyed the banter between the team mates and Brynn and Tia. The writing is good and the author took time to develop the characters. Even though it was a quick read for me, the story didn’t feel rushed. This is book 1 in the series and has created a wonderful start for the rest of the series. Looking forward to book 2.

This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet by her. I enjoy being pulled into the story from the beginning of the story by the characters. They are connectable and brought much to the story. This is a story about Gina and Bryce. They both have a past and in need of healing. One of them just may have more secrets hidden than the other. I enjoyed how engaging they kept the story as well as made it hard to put down. Their chemistry is great, strong and I really enjoyed watching their growth throughout. The author’s use of details made the story feel realistic and wanted to know what happened next. This is a great second chance story that you will have to read to find out what fate has in store for this couple. I highly recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this book with a passion of my own! I am a big sports fan, and hockey is one of the things that fuel my soul truly. I couldn’t help but love how this story went about as well as the characters, they were real and brought the story to life, it was very enjoyable from start to finish!
For me, I had a strong love affair for cheering for Brynn and Levi. They struck out and lost the game with each other in the past, but you could see old feelings die hard within each other. I loved how Levi was written, hockey orientated, but yet he had walls that were crumbling down when near Brynn. And same with Brynn, things were not dead for either, they both had to realize what they had, wasn’t truly gone.
I loved how the author wrote this, there were hardships and emotions within these pages, ad you really felt for both these characters and their surrounding elements. The story was a good paced read and it was very realistic. And it made my heart cry, smile, sizzle with excitement, and even gasp time to time. I loved this one and I will certainly recommend this book again and again!
The author wrote a free spirited book and brought to life with amazing characters as well. I enjoyed their writing style, and how the story went, not too fast, and certainly not slow. Just right. Highly recommend this awesome story/book and of course such a talented author as this one!

This is a second chance romance story that I enjoyed from beginning to end. This is a well written story about what happens when your true love leaves but then what happens when they decide to come back. Will things be the same? Will fate step in and this couple get a second chance at love? I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the characters. They are relatable, kept the story engaging and truly brought the story to life. Their chemistry is great throughout the story as well as their growth. They made the story easy and entertaining to read. Brynn and Levi are great characters that brought the story to life. You have steamy characters and a hockey sports romance story, what more could you ask for. I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend this book.

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟Swoon worthy read. I love curling up to a second chance sports romance that is full of sizzle but also had some definite laugh out loud moments. Brynn is a photographer who needs a fresh start and lands in Astoria Bay. Levi is the captain of the hockey team that never forgot his first love. When a chance encounter pull them together can Levi and Brynn hash out old feelings on a summer love long ago and rekindle what was?
I love this story from beginning to end. If you are a romance lover like me you definitely will not be disappointed. The story just flows so easily and this book was hard to put down. I also loved Brynn’s best friend, Via. She totally made me laugh and love her wit! Highly recommended!

I absolutely loved reading the story of Levi Fawkes, Captain of the Astoria Bay Thunder and Brynn Mackintosh, a very talented photographer. They were each others first loves over 10 years ago and neither really left that love behind them, even when life took them in different directions. By a total fluke a radio competition sees them meeting again and then a work opportunity for Brynn sees them working together where it becomes very obvious their off the charts chemistry is still there. Levi wonders if they can recapture what was lost to them years ago, while at the same time Brynn wants to run scared fearing if it didn’t work it truly would break her this time. This is a fantastic start to what I believe is going to be such a fun steamy series filled with wonderful characters that I just can’t wait to read more about. Bring on book 2 I say!!

I will say this, the lives of Maggie and her suitor Will continue to be challenged in book 2 of this series. I was in awe of the pure love shown by Maggie as she saved her love from certain death! Being from the 20th century helped her a lot in this case, and she’s lucky no one knows of this. With all of the turmoil that is Will’s accused crimes of being with her, Will still charges on fighting tooth and nail every step of the way to secure his love for Maggie. This second book in the series will definitely keep you entertained with the antics of her new family, along with those of her own. I’m one again excited to see the next book in the series and how the saga ends for these two in love. Now on to book three!
