This was an enjoyable and engaging read which kept me happily turning the pages eager to be immersed in the story. Arabella is the seventh daughter of a seventh daughter, in a long line of gifted witches, but who has no magical talent herself. Even her disappointed family refer to her as a ‘brown bud’. Arabella then discovers an affinity for technomancy and her ability not only opens up the mechanical world’s mysteries but she can also manipulate them. Arabella is the first ever clockwork witch which is seen as unnatural in the witching world. As Arabella tries to get to grips with her new power she also has to deal with her family and peers judgement. To complicate her life further she then learns about ‘The Trials’, which she may or may not survive. The detailed world building along with the descriptive narrative brought the setting vividly alive for me, making me feel immersed in the story. I loved the main character, Arabella and found her a likeable and relatable heroine and enjoyed following her adventures as she came into her powers. The storyline was exciting and the plot had me hooked from start to finish.

I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and having read book one I was keen to be back with the heroine of the story, Arabella. As the first ever technomancer in a long line of gifted witches Arabella is used to being a disappointment to her family, but she has joined the ‘Sisterhood of Witches’. Arabella has a lot to prove and wants to succeed at her first assignment, although the task has already claimed two lives. She must find the root cause of the famine sweeping through Ireland whilst knowing that both her future and even her life are at risk. The wonderful world building really brought the setting to life making me feel immersed in the story. The storyline is exciting and had me gripped from the start, and the plot twists kept me guessing. I loved Arabella even more in this second book in the series, as her character has developed as she’s grown into her powers. An enjoyable and engaging read, which kept me hooked.

Arabella Leyden returns and she is finally able to come to terms with her powers of Technomancy, but it still isn’t all smooth sailing for her, since she passed the Trials and became a fully recognised witch, she has constantly faced criticism from others because of her lack of, in their minds, true magical talent. This has not deterred her from following her own patch and finding ways to cope, but some are finally coming round to see it as a possible advantage.
She has only just found a moment to breathe and let her current situation sink in when receives a summons, wherein, she is given her first assignment and it is not an easy one, she has been chosen to travel to Ireland and see if she can find a solution to the famine which is blighting the Isle and lend her help to the witches who reside there. So she soon finds herself having to adapt to a new situation, so she chooses her travel companion and meets the others who will be travelling in their small party, although on the surface it seems quite straightforward, what she learns about past assignments set her ill at ease.
The journey opens Arabella’s eyes about the world around her and how much she doesn’t know, but she is determined to learn as much as she can so that she can be as successful as possible with the assignment, however, with danger lurking around every corner and finding out that previous Sortilege family members have died trying to solve the problem she has also been given, Arabella must stay on her guard while listening to those around her who are also trying to keep her safe from harm.
Will the machinations of those around her lead her to more danger, or will her unique combination of magic and science be the solution to the prayers of many? This is another sci-fi fantasy where secrets abound and discoveries are made, as problems are researched, opinions are heard and options are considered while danger hides in the shadows all around those involved.

What did I think? This was a steaamyyy savage love affair!
Firstly the glossary of who’s who on the first page… chefs kisses! I have not read any of the previous books and was worried I would be lost but luckily wasn’t! I loved that you get both perspectives of the main characters POV. This made it easy to follow, and loved to see how they both were truly feeling. I like that we got to be in both of their heads! This book was filled with hellaaa spicy moments, lotsss and lotsss of plot twists, and roller coaster moments. It had me on the edge of my seat and with the popcorn ready! I could not put this book down to save my life!
Overall a really great read, and I can’t wait to read more in this series!!

Arabella Sortilege is a young witch who lives in Victorian England, she is the youngest of a large family, a seventh daughter of a seventh daughter to be exact but she is the only one out of all her female relatives who has not shown an ounce of magical talent. She is known as a “brown bud” and she is a disappointment to those around her, leading to her being shunned because of it, her family make her complete the mundane tasks so that they don’t have to get their hands dirty and can spend more time practicing their art and interact with her as little as possible, all apart from one who is her best friend and the closest in age as well.
One day, the Sortilege family are invited to an event where an invention is unveiled and Arabella is fascinated with it, especially when she can see it all shining with an inner glow, all apart from an area in the centre, when she asks her sister about it, she finds out that it is magic she can sense, but not in any way which would be classed as normal, her sister advises her to stay quiet about what she has seen until they return home.
As the days go on, Arabella begins to notice that she can see other aspects of technology shining like magic, however, this leads to trouble and Arabella begins to feel like she finally understands what her sisters feel, apart from it is with an element, which is not natural. As events continue, Arabella’s secret comes out and she is even more trouble than before, she now has to face the judgement of those around her and the Trials which every young witch has to go through, to enable her to declare her Technomancy and the fact that she both understands and can manipulate machinery.
Will Arabella be able to stay out of harms way long enough to pass the Trials and be finally accepted into the family and develop her talents, or will the danger she faces stop her in her tracks, or will the judgement she faces be the most severe possible? This is a sci-fi fantasy where magic and technology combine in a coming of age tale of one young witch finding her place within a world where the rules are absolute and anything outside of them is considered an abomination.

Once again, I just love this series! Book four in the series is about Elena, a Mafia princess who has been in hiding from the Russians, and Marco, one of the Mafia bosses. Elena has been hiding from the Russians for about 4 years when her life becomes compromised, once again. The person who comes to “rescue” her is Marco. Marco and her have been “enemies” since a young age but secretly crushed on each other. Elena, however, eventually learns to trust him and to save her life must marry. However, this marriage allows them to enjoy the feelings that have been bottled up for so long. The question is, can they unite and trust each other enough to survive a Mafia war against Russia? Also, lifelong secrets start to surface, will this put more of a price on Elena’s head and how will their new marriage make it through?
What I love most about these books is the no bullshit writing! The author starts the book hot and keeps it going to make it a fast, entertaining, and enjoyable read. I also always fall in love with the characters. Each one of the women are romantics, but badass independent warriors! The men are obviously badass, but the way the author writes you can feel how deeply and desperately they love their wives. She writes the men’s personality as I wish all men would behave where their women are concerned: love them, worship them, protect them, but also let them be intelligent, decisive, strong, independent women – happy compromise to an amazingly happy life!
Great book! If you are looking for fantasy, adventure, heartbreak, as well as twists and turns along the way, this book is for you! I have always loved fantasy novels and in the past few years have found a new interest in mystery both of which were so wonderfully written in this book. The characters are mainly young adults, but the plotline is so intriguing, readers of any age would enjoy this! The characters are realistic and likable, but just like people, they all have their issues and learn how to cope with them throughout the book.

Savage Secrets is the fourth book in the Mafia Elite series. I have found myself really engrossed in this series, and have enjoyed other books by the same author including the Gray Ghost series, so I was excited to read this! In Savage Secrets, we finally get to catch up with Elena. She’s been on the run, presumed dead by pretty much everyone. But when her new identity is compromised, it’s a race between the Italian and Russian mafias to get to her, and she doesn’t know who she can trust. This is a fast-paced, exciting story. As Marco fights to protect Elena, his sister Sofia, and the rest of his family, he can forget that they have plenty of fight in them themselves. And there’s plenty of secrets, with Elena’s adoptive mother, Nicole, helping her uncover the truth about her birth mother, aided by coded messages hidden in the library. There are unexpected twists and turns, and moments where you’re lulled into a false sense of security (but also moments where everyone’s actually safe and can enjoy a few drinks, some conversation, remember they’re in a romance novel…). This book gets five stars from me, and I can’t wait to read Ruthless Heir when it comes out! I would definitely recommend starting at the first book in the series, No Way Out, so you can get to know the characters and watch them grow through the series.

Fans of time travel and multiple parallel plot lines will love these books!
Although confusing at first, you quickly are able to see all of our characters and keep track of everyone. It does take a moment to get going but once it starts it doesn’t stop.
All of the worlds are beautifully described and truly make you feel immersed where certain characters are.
During book two Matt, Julia and Dan are training to get the traveling through time and space absolutely correct. While Thomas wants a much more sinister end.
The twist that happens at about halfway through this book changes everything for everyone. Although they may not like each other they must work together.
These stories are amazing with their world building and making you understand the characters and all details of each part of the worlds.

This is not my normal genre but decided to give it a whirl. I have a hard time keeping the universes cohesive in my head, luckily there is a helpful guide at the beginning of the book. I can get lost in a romance book, this one really made me think. Someone from every universe got the same message from an all-knowing power, “I am sorry, but I must leave you for awhile.” They were all told to rely on their teachings and meditation helped them do this. They make their own futures, and with a war brewing, which side will win? Makes me wonder, what messages would I receive or find if I took the time to mediate and reflect? What else is out there? Could there really be parallel universes? I look forward to the next book, thank you James Talisman, for spinning a tale that made me dig inside myself. The second book in the Journeys Through series picks right up where the first book ends. It was an exciting book filled with danger, treasures, travel, time travel, and an ultimate supreme that isn’t communicating. I had problems following all the characters the same as I did in the first book, but luckily in the beginning of the book is a list of the characters and which universe they belonged to. My issues following the characters didn’t take away from my enjoyment of the book. Both books in this series really made me think outside the box about what I believe. Why can’t there be more than one universe? Why can’t one supreme being be in charge of them all? These books made me think in ways I never have before.

The deaths of two witches in the Shortilage line gives her her first assignment, to find the root cause of the famine that’s sweeping through Ireland. As the first ever Technomancer her future and her life is on the line. Will she find a way to blend their old views with her new powers? I love this story! The Technomancer powers that Arabella has are so cool. I also really liked her twist on covens and The Trials that she had to take! Very exciting, great action and suspense! I also really loved the political intrigue of the different councils and of the Investiture itself, it really kept me reading on to find out what happens. Sonnier’s vivid and detailed writing also paints a beautiful picture, that is not in the least bit boring or drawn out. Would definitely read it again!!!

The Author gives us a beautiful second chance romance filled with wonderfully written characters and a heartwarming love story. I am interested to see how the next book evolves and hope we can learn more about our characters pasts.

Power Play is a second chance love AND a sports romance. Two of my favorites in one!! I can’t tell you how much I loved this book, this writing style, the characters. I love it all so much. The story is about Levi and Brynn (Mac). Ten years previously they walked away from each other, walked away from their love and went down different paths. Now, a chance encounter has brought them together again and at first they don’t even recognize each other. Levi is still in love with her and never got over her. Brynn still has feelings from before but she is only a few months divorced from her ex husband. Brynn is very reluctant to pick back up where they left off so many years ago, and Levi doesn’t understand her apprehension. The ending is just perfect! This was such a fulfilling, easy, read. I give it 5 stars and will definitely read again. I always reread my favorites. I LOVE so many of the other characters…Tia and Bridger specifically. I can’t wait for their book. Hopefully we will get an update on Levi and Brynn in it.

This book gave me all the feels! Sweet and sassy Gina Fisher “Fish” meets Bryce Cambridge and sparks fly! When they first meet, Gina thinks he is married so when he shows interest and starts flirting she treats him horribly. When that gets cleared up is when it really gets good! He is gorgeous and he has his sights set on her. Gina was a Sergeant in the Army and she has a secret… after a heroic act overseas she was burned over a big portion of her body. She hides her scars very well, but is very self conscious about them. Will her insecurities hold her back from what could be an amazing relationship? This book touched me in very different ways and I was very impressed by the writer. I can’t wait to read the next one! Definitely recommend!

A really good follow-up to the Clockwork Witch, where we get to see Arabella leaning into her powers, and aligning herself with supportive people. Now officially part of the witching world, she learns some of the secrets of the Council, and becomes determined to change some of their more unsavory policies. Her mother makes some halting attempts to reconnect their relationship, and sends her on a mission to Ireland to solve the sticky problem of the famine. Mother doesn’t really expect Arabella to solve much, but underestimating her youngest daughter is never a good idea.
I enjoyed seeing Arabella becoming her own woman and witch. She stands up to those who can’t support her, especially those with the power to hurt her, with grace and determination. Eliza and Sarah were interesting characters as well, and were a nice contrast to Arabella and the world she grew up in.

A great story with lots of conflict and high emotion. Arabella has grown up in the shadow of her powerful mother and 6 talented older sisters. Having displayed no witchy talents, she is an embarrassment to her mother, and basically ignored by most of her sisters. When her talents appear after everyone had given up hope, Arabella is bewildered and very curious. But, as her world functions around Technology vs. Witches, neither side respects her talent nor wants her anywhere near them. Arabella must find a way to develop her new powers without much support, and navigate those in the witchy world who think she is an abomination and call for her death.
Arabella is a loveable character, full of curiousity, and possessing humility and strength. As she learns who her allies are, and becomes more powerful at wielding her power, her confidence grows and limitations are exceeded. The friendship between she and her sister, Rowena, is a source of strength for her, and she finds love and support from her estranged brother as well. The ending of the story is exciting and made me want to start book 2 immediately!

I had a hard time putting down this series. The author’s ability to not only create several complex universes and characters, but tie them together and have them flow naturally is spectacular! I fell in love with so many characters in these books. I loved seeing them develop as they learned how to truly harness their abilities. Readers are drawn in immediately as we are teased with each universe’s main characters. It made me yearn to know more, thus I could not put it down! These are complex books, so I did read a few chapters over to make sure I did not miss any key information, but totally worth it!

It’s been a while since I read a good biker book and this was a brilliant read I enjoyed it so much I read it in one hit. I haven’t read the rest of the series but you don’t need to it can be read as standalone but I will definitely be going back to read the other 3. Gem is a great female lead she is strong and confident although had a bad past with a biker gang when she meets Shep who she is immediately drawn too but theres a problem he is also in a biker gang can she get over this when she vowed to never be associated with an MC again.

The Bear at Midnight is Book 4 in the Orkneyinga Murders series. Ketil and Sigrid work together once again to solve a mystery and find a killer in Orkney. When Einar passes away there are many in line to take over as leader. Ketil and Sigrid only want the best for everyone and to have peace in the land.
Sigrid and Ketil work beautifully together and really seemed destined to be a couple although neither one of them seems to realize that. The story is told from both sides and although neither seems to lead the story you can’t help but bond with Sigrid. She possesses many admirable qualities including her strength and determination.
The author weaves together a beautiful story of the lives and characters of the Vikings and beautiful Scotland. Often you feel like you were right there with the characters because the author so vividly describes the scenes of day-to-day life with the characters.

Sigrid, who accidentally discovered the body on her property, is determined to solve the mystery of this unknown man. With the help of Ketil, she sets out to unravel the mystery of why this man was killed. Nobody from their small village has been reported missing which makes it even a bigger mystery. Where did this man come from? Who is he and how did he die there?
I loved the character of Sigrid because she was full of feistiness and determination. She doesn’t back down from a challenge. Although it was a bit challenging to keep track of all the names, I loved the historical detail that the author wrote into her book and thought it was very well written.

This series is definitely for those who love Sci-fi. Best part is that all three books in this series are in a bundle. For many hours of adventure. Are you ready for the adventure of Evil vs Good. You will really give your feels many challenges.This story is well thought out as well as fast paced. You can’t help but love the characters and their places in these adventures. This author has taken the time to separate each destination as well as who gets to explore. While this is truly fantasy. It was fun to see just where this author will take you, the readers. While this is not something I would normally read, I’m pleased I took the time to check out this author’s work. I recommend you read this series in order. I have no spoilers in this review.

This was a really good quick read! It’s the first of a series that I am excited to read. The world building was so good and I fell in love with the characters. It gives me a City of Angels the movie vibe and I was hooked from the first sentence. I am really excited to see where this series goes.

I love stories like these where life and love collide in the most beautiful of ways. This book is no different in the way it uniquely ties it altogether. Love always prevails in the sense of imperfections, embracing love, and finding the strength to do it all again with love like these two have found. I found the story romantic, sweet, and charming.

The Journeys Through collection is a must read for anyone who loves spirituality and adventure. I have had the pleasure of reading the three books in this series and each just got better as the stories continued to evolve and grow. The author has created a vibrant universe with multiple characters whose stories are interwoven into an epic adventure. I highly recommend this series. I look forward to the next book as I want to see how this story turns out.

This is one of my favorite box sets since I’ve been reading them and that’s a long time coming. The setting of these books transcend you to a different place, time and dimension which leaves your mind blown. The originality the author provides makes this a great read! This book was a definite treat for a fantasy reader like me. It was the first I read with a spider shifter. Aranha is a spider who thinks she is on the verge of extinction. She meets up with Dag, a daywalker who feels the same. Neither really trusts the other. They both end up on a mission that brings surprises. The book is full of action. I even finished it with my fear of spiders. The description of her fangs coming down, shifting into a spider or her little buddies coming out creeped me out. It made the book even better. I loved seeing the bit of romance develop between Dag and Aranha because walls had to fall. Twists and turns throughout the plot made it kind of like a wild slide. The characters were cool in a butt kicking way. I definitely recommend this.

Book 4 in the series. Though the series does seem to go in a chronological order I was able to jump from book 1 to book 4 with little difficulty. There were some questions about what May have occurred in between but they were mostly addressed, or could be ignored without distracting from the overall story.
Here there is a death in the first part but that’s not the murder mystery aspect, that comes later in the book. The first part is sort of a catch up of all the characters from books past as well as an introduction to new ones on the scene.
I enjoyed this book off the bat more than I did book 1. Maybe it was the familiarity with the characters and setting. I’m not quite sure what exactly held my interest more here but it kept me reading the book through rather than in fits and starts.
I enjoyed the continual tension between the characters, both new and old, as well as within the village. There’s a need for everyone to secure their place in uncertain times that feels more realistic. Then of course the true murder of the story happens and throws everyone and everything into upheaval.

4 star Christian-Viking era murder mystery. Wonderful new take on the genre
First in a series. Here we’re introduced to Ketil, Sigrid, and everyone else in the village of Buckquoy.
Ketil comes to town with secrets to tell and to hide. Is he friend or foe? What does he have to do with the body Sigrid, a widowed villager, found hidden on her land? Is this the past come back to haunt them?
A very interesting take on timepiece murder mystery. I was only able to “sort of” enjoy this murder mystery. I found it difficult to immerse myself in a time period novel with a culture I’m mostly unfamiliar with. I found myself skipping over names and items, or having to step away from the story to look them up, because I didn’t know what they were. This caused the first quarter-to-third of the book to be a very slow read. Once I was able to get an understanding of the time, community, and culture, I found the novel to be very interesting.
This book also touches upon the idea of when old meets new in terms of the religious aspect of the time, but it is easy to correlate that to todays time and what’s going on around us, should you wish to go that deep.
Thoroughly enjoyed the murder mystery aspect and the “detective” work that Ketil does while rediscovering himself and his relationship with Sigrid along the way.
