Savage Secrets by Amy McKinley
This was the first book I read in the Mafia Elite series but it definitely won’t be the last. I can’t wait to read about the rest of the families. I loved Marco and Elena’s story so much. Elena is absolutely incredible and incredibly strong. She’s been dealt a not so great hand but doesn’t let it get her down. Such a great book with tons of action and steam.
The Worry Knot by Mary Evanson Bleckwehl

This was a really interesting and captivating story. It let’s you inside the mind of someone that worries a lot and the impact that has on their lives. The author does a great job of explaining the feelings and sensations that Rourke experiences through his days when he is gripped by constant worry.
It also delves into the feelings around being a teenage boy at school. The mixed emotions when encountering a girl he likes and the constant worry about protecting his older brother Carson.
We also see how Rourke deals with his constant anxiety and the way he responds to it mentally.
It is an endearing story focusing on relationship and the struggle to manage things when dealing with your own inner turmoil.
It would be a great book for young adults to read as you come away with the feeling that each of us are unique and different and that just because we seem to be fine doesn’t mean that is always the case.

The Journeys Through Series hooked me right from the first book in the Series, Journeys Through Space Time. Now it is in a boxed set! This series intrigued me from the very beginning, and I found it difficult to put the books down. I quickly became wrapped up in the lives of the characters and was fascinated by the concept of multiple worlds. The multiple characters, storylines and points of view were beautifully written, and the story was immensely entertaining.
Even more intriguing to me was that the voice of a mysterious being could be heard in the minds of inhabitants across both time and space. This powerful and wise voice spoke to each inhabitant and gave each one of them advice or words of warning. The only thing linking the inhabitants of all these different worlds was the mysterious voice that each one of them heard. Those that heard the mysterious voice must now combine forces and use their knowledge and newly acquired skills to fight the forces of evil. The fate of the Multiverse is up to them.
I found it truly fascinating to explore the concept of multiple worlds and the vast Multiverse of space and time. The concept of multiple planets each with their own inhabitants had me really thinking about the possibility of life on other planets. The thought of a wise and powerful being that could get into our minds and control our thoughts intrigued me.
The story picks up more in Book Two and really intensifies in Book Three when an ancient prophecy has predicted that an intelligent and powerful being plans to use the powers contained in the Dokkaebi-of-all-Creation to destroy various universes that make up the Multiverse. Once again, our heroes must come from their different universes to save the Multiverse from being destroyed. However, each of our heroes must first come to the realization that their universe is not the only one that exists. They must train hard and prepare for this battle or risk the Multiverse disappearing forever. It becomes a confrontation between the Gods and the Mortals as they fight to save all creation. Who will win this battle?
This series gave me plenty to think about with the concept of multiple realities taking place simultaneously on multiple planets. The author has done an amazing job of creating lovable characters along with some not so lovable ones. You find yourself rooting for good to win over evil. Each Universe is described so vividly along with each character that you feel like you are right there with them. This is an amazing series that I highly recommend reading!

Road Rage is Book Four of the Outlaw Series. Gem is working in a supermarket and doing her best to live a normal life. To remain safe, she has chosen to distance herself from everyone to break free from the life she had that was full of violence and drugs when she belonged to an outlaw motorcycle club.
Things change suddenly when Gem meets a good-looking biker by the name of Shep while she is at work at the supermarket. She can’t help but feel attracted to him and is intrigued by the fact that Shep happens to belong to another outlaw motorcycle club. She finds herself drawn in by this and before long she is introduced back into the world of outlaw motorcycle clubs. When she is first introduced to Shep’s Club, Rage, the, members of the club won’t accept her, and she feels like an outsider. It is only after she proves herself through her racing that she starts to garner the attention of the other members of Rage, and she begins to feel like more of an equal. Until that point in time, she is arm candy on Shep’s arm who treats her like she is his just to boost up his ego.
As Gem becomes more heavily involved into the club, she also becomes more involved in Rage’s activities that aren’t exactly legal. She finds herself coming face-to-face with her past and the outlaw motorcycle gang that she was once a part of. Gem finds herself battling for her life and fears she may not survive what they have in store for her. It takes all her strength and determination to try to remain strong and try to find a way to save her own life.
I loved the character of Gem and found it a nice change that there was such a strong female lead. She was tough as nails and didn’t put up with anything from anyone. Of course, as you read through the book and learn of her backstory, she wasn’t given much of a choice but to be strong. Gem learned early on in her life how to stand up for herself and defend herself from those that only intended to harm her. This book can very easily be read as a stand-alone but now that I have read it, I will be going back and reading the first few books in The Outlaw series.

Journeys Through Collection: Volumes 1-3 group together the debut novels of James Talisman. This is a fantastic way to get the series all in one place. I recommend reading these books in order to fully enjoy this wonderful series. This is a series filled with science fiction, fantasy, time travel, and multiple universes. The first book drew me in with a well-thought-out and interesting story that kept me reading and engaged. The characters are interesting and those from some of the other worlds harken back to mythology and our ancient history. I really liked the storytelling and the development of different locations. All of the books in this collection bring different aspects to light in this new universe and I am glad to have them all in one place. I look forward to what this author writes in the future.

The Journeys boxset is a journey of a five-star read. I have been known to get into many a debate about the multiverse theory and usually avoid stories about it as they all follow the same type and we just get the one line, but I am glad I took the chance on this one as it had a great fresh perspective and made me start a whole debate about ideas from this story. Normally I cannot do that as I read a lot of romance and science nerds do not enjoy debating that, but this was great we started on one point and I brought in so many more. Much like the story it was deep and complex, and I found myself arguing over people just to get my point across, I explained it in different ways as the characters were so complex, they gave you strength from reading them. After we had our discussion we sat and talked and they all asked what book I had read as it must have been good to get me so impassioned, I explained that it was one I took a chance on and I hope many more people will.
Journeys through TimeSpace has once again brought us along on a jam packed journey, one that has you guessing and thinking at every turn, it is a busy story and there is a lot going on, but the author manages to keep it all together and as long as you aren’t easily distracted when reading you are able to keep up well (even if you are do try as I am a flicker on the tv while I read and I managed to keep up with it okay). This has a great sucking power as I will be thinking of something while I’m at work, and then all of a sudden, I will be thinking about who will win the battle and who I’m invested in. The only other thing to add is what an imagination this author must have, it always surprises me when I read sci-fi and fantasy as I figure the authors minds must never stop to be filled with such amazing landscapes and this author is no exception.

This book is a real struggle for me. There is a lot of inconsistencies in the story from the timeline to the female character. The writing is gruff meaning there is no soft edge to it. Facts or situations are just tossed out for randomly. Then there is the multiple triggers in here.
This isn’t for the soft hearted at all. The one saving grace in here is Doc. He is a super great guy and puts his girl first. He does a lot for the story.
I do like the idea of this for an MC as its different.

Book 1: This is a sci-fi/fantasy in which there are multiple storylines following different characters in different universes, realities and timelines. Each is very different and draws on various ancient mythologies which I really enjoyed. Although confusing to follow, I appreciated having to engage more with the story. I also liked the world-building, which was extremely complex, although it was at times more descriptive and wordy than immersive. The ending was definitely action-packed, and the weaving of the story becomes clear in the way the end is tied up but leaves you wanting more.
Book 2: Having read the first book in this series, I really enjoyed this second one. There’s so much action and it’s a really interesting take on consciousness and time and Multiverse, and I love how time travel is connected with reincarnation. I definitely found this book easier to get into than the first one, because the characters were already set up so the time/space conundrum was less confusing. The relationships between some of the characters could have been developed more, or more conflict added. An original, transportive story.
The Mesmerist by Claire Luana

I generally enjoyed this coming-of-age fantasy/mystery. The world-building was great, there were elements of mystery that made the novel more suspenseful, and I liked the main character Adrijana. Although this is marketed as young adult, I think it should be noted that there is a sexual assault and it seemed to just serve the plot. Anyhow, Adrijana is a strong, complex character who develops immensely throughout the novel, and I just really didn’t know who to trust. Read this if you like a lot of intense intrigue and political machinations.

Are you looking for a box set that is scifi fantasy and full of adventure? Say no more, definitely check out this box set!! The covers of these books are beautiful too and really catch my eye. Sci Fi is not my normal genre to read, but I decided to branch out and give this a try and I am very thankful and happy that I did!
First off I really just commend the author for adding a Character List at the beginning of the book as this was very helpful in book 1 of Journeys Through Spacetime. There are many characters with different POVs and so much detail, this really made me think I wanted to be part of this story in the book. I love the action, adventure, mixed with betrayal all wrapped into this book. The author did such a fantastic job on details and having different worlds revolving around all the characters.
For book 2 I definitely recommend reading book 1 first before reading this book, but the story is truly fantastic. Book 2 picks up where book 1 leaves. You really get more in detail the stories of the characters and their agendas. I feel like I was along side with Matt, Julia and Dan as they embark on quite a journey. Truly Wonderful story and i enjoyed the adventure and mystery.
The author has really done a fantastic job with just layers of characters and story-line for this epic adventure. I would definitely recommend reading the books in order and just cozy up tremendous read! Highly recommended
The Clockwork Solution by Michelle D. Sonnier
Intriguing magical fantasy
This is a fast-paced novel with a bit of a twist. This is the second book in the series but the first book I have read by this author. I didn’t feel lost at all but I did have to piece a few things together. With a mix of paranormal, steampunk and fantasy this had me intrigued. The writing is easy to read. It finished rather suddenly and has left me wanting more. I think I’ll go and read book 1 while I await book 3. Recommend.

Strap yourself in for a ride!
Book 1
Cleverly written sci-fi adventure
This was an exceptional piece of writing. So many layers that one could easily become lost in the intricate web of the multi-verse. The author was very good at providing moments of grounding within each chapter that really helped the reader to connect and gather their understanding. There is a lot within these pages but it all needs to be appreciated as a whole package – so reading on is a must as it all ties in together. As I finished the book it I felt like I had been on an epic journey – just as the title says.
Book 2
Sci-fi fantasy with punch!
Wow – this goes from strength to strength. The book takes off right where book 1 finished and does not stop. I devoured each of the words and just wanted to keep going. The intricate layers are excellently interwoven and lead to an ultimate climax. The characters I had really connected with in the first book really come unto their own as things start to align. Building on my understanding of the multiverse from book 1, I found this easier to follow. There is a cheeky little cliffhanger at the end which leaves the door open for more to come – Excellent!
Book 3
Creative, clever and cosmic
The 3rd book in a brilliant series. Set in the multiverse the trials and ventures from the previous books comes to a magnificent climax and satisfying but open ended conclusion. This author is extremely talented at weaving a multi-layered universe that is intriguing and easy to navigate. From page one it is all systems go.
This is a must-read from beginning to end.
I really hope there is more to come.

The Journeys Through Collection is the first series from James Talisman and I definitely think it will be the first of many from this talented author. I am not usually a Sci/Fi reader but after reading this amazing boxset with such vivid worlds and creatively written characters I might just be starting to become a fan. To get this old girl to try something new is no small feat so thanks Mr Talisman for showing me old dogs can in fact learn new tricks.
I will say I struggled at first with the amount of changes from one place/ set of characters to another…I guess I should actually call that the Multiverse… but that is totally on me. I kept with it and found my flow with the story and I am so glad I did. If this kind of story telling is a challenge for you also, I strongly suggest sticking with it as you will be rewarded with an action packed, imaginative and phenomenally well crafted story.
Having the boxset is definitely the way to go so that you can can just keep reading. You won’t want to wait between books! All I can say is get reading now!

This book dives straight into the action right from the start and is continuous action right through. There is always something happening! The book is definitely not for the faint hearted as there is very adult and sometimes very violent content. This is the fourth book in the series but the first one I have actually read. It is very easily read as a stand alone. You really don’t need to have read the other books first but with this book being such a good read, I highly recommend reading the rest of the series. Given how enjoyable this book was I just know the rest of the series will be too.

The Journeys Through collection was such a fantastic read! The box set contains three full length novels. I was instantly pulled into the stories through the author’s imaginative ad creative writing style. The storyline is complex but I really found that I was able to become fully absorbed into what I was reading. I’m not usually a fan of sci-fi stories but I did actually really enjoy this one and I am definitely looking forward to reading more!
The characters in the story were really interesting to read about, and being told from multiple points of view enabled me to begin to understand the role each of them played in the story. The story as whole was beautifully detailed and I could definitely tell how much work the author had out into the story.
All three books were great to read and you could see the difference in the writing over the three books, not that the writing was bad in anyway but each book was better than the one before in my opinion. The authors creativity really shone through in his writing and all three books were really enjoyable to read.

The Worry Knot by Mary Bleckwehl is a story aimed at middle school aged children, but I think it could be appreciated by readers of all ages. This story deals with childhood angst, ‘worries’ (anxiety), friendship, family dynamics, school life, challenges, and acceptance- while providing lessons along the way.
We follow 12 year-old Rourke, who is an extreme worrywart, as he experiences all the angst that comes with having so much anxiety, as well as all the other challenges associated with middle school life. Add in some mysterious neighbours, concern for friends, dysfunctional family dynamics, sibling bonds, trying to fit in, and other ‘worries’- and this story becomes a lesson for us all.
Well worth the read!

I was not expecting to get so wrapped up in Sigrids world! I don’t normally read historical murder mysteries but this one really grabbed my attention when it jumped into the story after the death of their leader. While everyone is gathered still awaiting the decision for the new leader another death occurs. As Ketil and Sigrid work to find out what happened tensions rise. As more information comes to light more questions are raised. I really enjoyed reading about Sigrid and Ketil and the way they work together. I will say this book can be read as a stand alone but I will be going back to read the others!

‘Journeys Through Collection: Volumes 1-3′ contains all three books in the Journeys Through series by James Talisman. I love a boxed set, getting multiple books at a time- that’s always a winner in my eyes.
Mr. Talisman has crafted a wonderful sci-fi adventure story full of imagination and creative touches. His world building is quite original- and gives his stories an extra element of intrigue. The adventures are well-woven and thought provoking- easily pulling me in to become part of all the action. But along with the action and adventure, Mr. Talisman also explores themes of consciousness, relativity, spirituality, ancient wisdoms, time travel, reality, the multiverse, connection, and more.
Three stories in one- now that’s a great deal!
Just to give you a taste of what to expect, here is my individual review for Book One:
‘Journeys Through SpaceTime’ is the debut novel, and first instalment in the ‘Journeys Through’ series by James Talisman. This sci-fi/fantasy story has so much going on in it and quite a lot of characters to keep track of. The storyline is multi-layered and complex, with multiple worlds and time-lines. The weaving of the story takes us on an action-packed adventure- where good vs evil, danger abounds, hidden agendas come to light, and a bit of ‘political’ manoeuvring takes place.
As this story spans space, and time- and introduces various principles/concepts to do with consciousness, universal energy and wisdom- it begins to build and explain the dynamics of this MultiVerse. The story is told from multiple points of view- which gives the reader a fully immersive reading experience whilst helping us to better understand the dynamics of each ‘layer’ of the storyline.
There’s definitely a mysteriousness to the storyline, which adds to the overall intrigue. It’s very interesting, if not a little wordy in places. All the ‘action’ in the various ‘worlds’, and with so many characters playing their part in this epic story; as well as all the switching back and forth between worlds and POV’s- made things a little confusing for me in the beginning. But as I got more of a handle on the story, characters, and flow- I really enjoyed the journey.
There are factors of the story which had a ‘Roman Legion’ feel, while other parts felt more Egyptian- with space and technological components, some Japanese Samurai like elements; as well as delving into some spirituality and consciousness concepts, & then the space and time factors, and conspiracies/plots/hidden agendas thrown in for good measure- and this story really took off. It will both captivate you, while making you think.
There is plenty of suspenseful moments which had me flipping the pages to discover how everything would play out. I loved that while a few of the threads were tied up at the end- we are left knowing that there is more to come- and plenty more to discover and unravel in the following instalment/s.

Book 1: Six very different people from vastly different multiverses (including but not limited to, a sword masters son Hirisho, a reptilian humanoid scientist Tysson, a Co-councilor for a Utopian world Rashella, and an ordinary college student named Matt) all hear the same mysterious voice inside their head. Godlike mentors appear to each of them and all must embark on separate quests and use their newly acquired wisdom of all creation and reality to fight for and protect the sanctity of all of their worlds.
This book was enthralling, a must read! James Talisman truly transports you through different worlds with his vivid imagery and thought provoking characters. Each one so different but expertly brought to life through his imaginative writing. This fast paced novel had me captivated from the first page with twists and turns I never saw coming. His blend of ancient ideals and futuristic concepts bring a delightful duality to the genre. I can’t wait to read the next book in such a creative series!
Book 2: With the final battle approaching, Matt and his two friends must learn to travel throughout time to obtain powerful artifacts needed to defend their world from an oncoming attack. The reptilian humanoid leader and his followers are planning total destruction. Traversing through many famous and dangerous eras of Earth’s past, and even its future, Matt and friends try to collect what is needed for a secret organization’s plan to save the planet.
I absolutely loved this book! James Talisman has a way with detail and imagery in a series with such vastness, that he makes it so easy to picture everything! I could really feel the bond between the characters! The time travel segments to different eras had me reading as fast as I could just to find out what would happen next! The incorporation of mythology and Atlantis as well as the way that the ending reveals itself is as unexpected as it is satisfying. It really makes you think!
Book 3: The multiverse is in danger, entire universes are to be erased from existence. Ancient twins Matt and Rashella must journey through vast worlds, universes, and even their own spiritual consciousness to stop an ancient prophecy and rescue their mentors from a grand illusion. Tensions rise as the pair prepare for their biggest battle yet. Will the power of unity triumph over the former celestial ruler, the devil who believes that only the truly supreme shall rule? Or will universes collapse, crumble under the weight of the crimson “god’s” greed?
What a wonderful read! I love this series so much and as always I was hooked from page one!!!! Such an engaging story makes you feel like anything is possible!! I really liked seeing where the characters are and how they have grown throughout. I felt really connected to them through James Talisman’s writing. He builds beautiful and vast worlds with such striking characters. My favorite part was how the Spirit Servitors were described! Just a fantastical book that blends the Ancient with the Futuristic in a fun and unique way. It’s both an epic and satisfying read!!!! I cannot say enough about this book, I highly recommend it!!!!
A Bride for Noah by Cheryl Wright

This was a really decent read! It was entertaining and enthralling, and I was immediately captured into the story from the first page. My only complaint however is that it’s predictable. I predicated what would happen pretty much from the first chapter. It was a well written and sweet story (a clean romance) but easily guessable and basically left nothing to the imagine. I don’t regret reading it and would read more from this author and the rest of the series I just got a little bored about halfway to three quarters of the way in. Overall I really enjoyed this book though!

This is the second book in The Clockwork Chronicles. The book continues the story of Arabella who has the new power of Technomancy, she is basically a witch who’s able to control technology. Arabella has suffered from being thought of by her family as not worthy because her witchcraft didn’t come through as expected. The story is interesting and the author shares Arabella’s world in such a way to make you believe it. There is drama especially from the family, danger as she’s going out on her own, and so much more. Overall, I enjoyed the series and I’m glad I read the books in order.

Steampunk is new to me, and this was my first exploration into the genre. The story itself intertwined Sci-Fi/History/Technomancy which took my imagination outside of the box. I was delighted with all the characters and the world they were built into. This book had drama, mystery, magic, and a unique plot as a whole. The MC Arabella was strong and determined despite the adversity that surrounded her, and she had no doubt in the path she was choosing for herself. This book was an interesting read, and a good introduction to the Steampunk genre.

New take on Angel lore. I absolutely devoured this book in one sitting! The author builds this wonderful world that you get engrossed into from the first page and the chemistry between the main characters Cathy and Daedriel is off the charts. Definitely a must read for Paranormal Romance lovers out there.
A Spider in the Garden by Courtney Davis

Addictive and original! I loved the authors refreshing new take on this genre. With plenty of action and a bit of romance, it has everything you need to be hooked. I enjoyed the 2 different POVs, and felt connected to the character’s. I’m really hoping there are more books coming, and cant wait to dive into some other stories from this author.

I love reading and like to keep an open mind about books I pick up. This book was some of those that intrigued me when I read the synopsis. I really liked the idea of a witch who could manipulate mechanical things. The story is well written and it’s easy to imagine the world where magic can help with technology. I connected with the main character in terms of not feeling like one belongs even when she always had. I totally got the trials for the new witches, it’s something I’ve read in books before. The ending of the book saddened me to find out that those who failed the trials were killed. Seemed a bit too much but maybe there’s something I missed that will be revealed in the next book.

OMG!! I should have known after reading the prior books that this next book in the series would not disappoint and IT SURE DIDN’T!! It is an action pack page turned with a love story that won’t leave you disappointed.
Elena Caruso is forced to leave her mafia life behind when the Bratva is after her. Leaving behind her friends, Mama, and the hunky Marco La Rosa. Elena thinks it would never work because Marco despises her.
Marco La Rosa is the head of one of the Five Families but he doesn’t have it all. For years he was miserable thinking that his one true love was dead. Life has been restored when Elena’s brother offers Marco an arranged marriage to Elena along with protection.
This has become one of my favorite Mafia series. The author gets you hooked from the first chapter. Definitely, a must-read!!

I really liked that I was able to read this as my first book and not feel like I was missing out on something. The fmc has a past that makes her a little shy to jump into a similar situation but her hea is too charming to resist. Lots of action and the writing was good. My only struggle was the dialogue. It was a little too simplistic at times but the story was so well written it didn’t drag the story for me. She’s a great story teller!

Charmaine and the Duke’s story is one for the ages! I enjoyed the fairytale effect and fell in love with the story with every next word. The characters had great chemistry and I was so happy with the progression. I loved how the plot flowed and the story was just entertaining! My first from this author and definitely won’t be my last.

I am new to this stand alone series, Road Rage being the first book I’ve read. It has been a long time since I read a motorcycle club book and I’ve never read one by this author so I was really excited. Overall, I liked the book a lot. Gem was a really relatable character, tough and someone you wanted happiness for. The flow of the book was “weird” for me. I don’t remember at what point of the story that I discovered I felt parts were rushed… maybe it was reading tired in bed that caused the confusion. I wish there was an indication of how much time had passed in between each big event throughout the plot. I loved the high intensity and action in the last quarter of the book and felt like the ending was strong.
I would definitely recommend this book if you like MC reads with strong characters and high intensity action.

I really enjoyed this book. It’s the second book in the series, so I’m going to have to go read the first one. The only negative I had was some of the details weren’t as detailed or recapped. Since I haven’t read the first book yet, I don’t know if the details I was looking for are in that one or not. The author definitely had me hooked and the cliffhanger that ends the book is probably one of the best I’ve read in a long while. I’m looking forward to the rest of this series.
