Etched in this Moment (Etched Series Book 1) by Calla Zae- Review by Kerry Carr

Etched in this Moment (Etched, #1)Etched in this Moment by Calla Zae
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story. It is a fast paced romance filled with passion, love and danger. The author does an amazing job at describing the thoughts and feelings of our characters. You can actually feel the fear that Sofia goes through and feel her growth from a scared woman into a woman that has confidence and blossoms with the love of a good man.

Sofia is on the run from an abusive ex. She thinks by changing her name she would be free of him but how wrong she is. Now she is looking over her shoulder wondering who she can trust and who she can’t.
When she literally bumps into Theo the connection is instant but can she trust him or he is a spy send by her ex?

As their relationship grows you can feel the strong possessiveness from Theo. He loves this woman and he will protected her no matter what.
Throughout the story we see Sofia grow and she comes to understand the difference between an abusive possessiveness and a possessiveness created by love.
Sofia and Theo bring out the best in each other and their love is so strong and pure that you can’t help but fall in love with them and their happiness.

Sofia is running from a crazy ex that used his job as a way to get away with abusing her. Now she’s wary of letting any man close, especially another cop. Fate has other plans though when she crosses paths with Theo. They can’t stop thinking about each other and as much as she resists she feels her heart starting to open back up and her walls start to crumble. This book is full of danger, romance and a second chance at getting love right this time around. I really enjoyed how the author tackled domestic violence and the way that it affects victims, especially after all the horror that Sofia went through. This is a must read and I’m so excited to read more from this author.

This book moves at such a pace that you feel like you can’t put it down! Wonderful characters and a great plot!

The MesmeristThe Mesmerist by Claire Luana
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The “who done it?” books always get my suspicions going and everyone is guilty until innocent in my mind. I had that feeling throughout most of this book and loved it! Andrijana is a 17 year old girl from a farm village and is very excited to experience her first time at court. When the queen mysteriously falls to her death, Adrijana’s life is turned upside down as eyes look to the new girl for a person to blame.
Dragan, a royal mesmer – is her only ally as she tries to maneuver through the mystery of who had the motive and the most to gain by the murder of the queen and other royals. Mesmers are gifted people that have the ability to analyze and affect another person’s emotions. Meanwhile, the neighboring enemy kingdom the Vruks have an army closing in and it looks like war is inevitable. Andrijana is going to have to filter through the lies, half truths, and her own emotions if she’s to find the one who framed her and hopefully save the kingdom too.
Andrijana is a relatable and loveable character. The feeling of mystery that this story gave me was exciting and I enjoyed every bit of it. By the end of it I was definitely wondering how much a girl had to go through and begging the author the give her a break! A wonderful read.

Tia (Sophia) has been left looking over her shoulder after fleeing from her past, leaving everything behind, including her real name, and never knowing if or when her troubles would finally track her down. She has no one to turn to, as the ones who were meant to protect her became part of the problem. Now she just hopes to stay off the radar, blend in and try to get on with her life. But how can she move on when she is weighed down by her past pain, and the fear of it finding her? She may have moved and started over, but she hasn’t really moved on from her past, keeping a low profile and being ever vigilant for danger takes up most of her energy, which means she isn’t truly ‘living’ her life to the fullest. Then fate sends her on a collision course with Theo, quite literally. Her fears take over and cause her to crash right into his arms. Will running into him be the best thing to happen to her in a long time. Or just cause more complications than she can handle? Their Chemistry sizzles and sparks fly. But can she trust her instincts to not lead her into even more trouble? Can she trust Theo, or will he turn out like the others who let her down? This fast paced and suspenseful story is definitely worth the read to find out.
Etched in this Moment is the first book in the Etched series by Calla Zae which has certainly let me with a taste for more. I can’t wait to get my hands on the rest of the series, and the anything else Calla Zae has released.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Calla Zae!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The author continues to draw us into this world she has created that bridges the supernatural world and human world. She has entered the human world. She isn’t only supernatural here. She and her human detective are trying to solve cases of dismembered supernatural bodies. With unexpected twists and page turning suspense, this is the best book so far. Loved it!

This was the first book I read in the series and I definitely need to go back and read the first two. I could understand what was going on, but I know for sure I would have much more ease with a background story. This author writes in an exciting and intriguing style that will pull you in and have you wanting more. Know that this is book 3 of 5, I will be reading books 1-2 & 4-5. This is a great read in fantasy which is starting to become my favorite genre!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Y’all, she’s done it again.

I don’t know why, but every time I pick up a book by this author, I’m a little tentative. Maybe it’s because its about a different romance each time, but literally every book I’ve ever read by her has BLOWN ME AWAY. This is the fourth book in this series, and I’m still as in love with it as I was when I read book one. I think I’ll have my husband get me the paperback sets for my Christmas or birthday gift this year. This author is phenomenal, and never hits the mark, and is becoming one of my favorites with every book of hers that I read. You NEED to read this book. The enemies to lovers, the fierce love and protection, the passion! Read it! Then read the others! Or read the others first, I don’t care, but read. These. Books. This series can be read as a stand-alone, but it makes more sense if they’re read in order. But please, go read these. You won’t regret it.

I really enjoyed this book. The way the author brought out the issue of women’s equality in the workforce was brilliant. She was able to show the good and bad of each side, leaving me as a woman angry at times and cheering at others. The relationship between two people who met accidentally at an art studio had fireworks bursting between the two. Both are very highly motivated in their field of work and show that if you fight hard enough and have the right support anything can happen.

Wildcat: A Steamy Firefighter Romance (MetroGen After Hours Book 1)

Had no expectations when I started this book, this is a new to me author but I decided to give it a go and glad I did.

Most of the story takes place in the 90’s and it was a trip down memory lane for me.  Not a Browns fan but remember their move to Baltimore and how upset their fans were.  But I was also reminded how far woman have come in the in the last thirty years.

Leslie was one of two female fire fighters and now it’s not uncommon to see a woman with a unit.  Leslie was stronger than I ever could have been both physically and emotionally and I wish there was some way to Tha k woman who were in her shoes for all they did.

I loved the way she met Trevor and how she stuck her to guns about her life and career.

I’m looking forward to reading more by this author in the future.

This was such a great read. I absolutely loved Brynn and Levi’s book. They dated as teens but, then of course they broke up and neither one ever forgot eachother. Now Brynn is here after a divorce, struggling to pay her bills and she ends up being hired to photograph a little brat’s birthday party but, the thing she doesn’t realize is, being at this party and meeting one person in particular is about to change her life in more ways then she could ever imagine.
This book was definitely a 5+ star read for me. I loved the characters and the way everything happened. Such a great read! Looking forward to more by this amazing author.

Tia was stronger than she believed and Theo was quite the protector! Tia was running from an ex and felt she had very few safe places to turn, especially regarding the police. Theo was a recovering detective who saw the signs and saw her need and immediately was all in to help her. The attraction, chemistry, and feelings of being so right for each other brings them together…Now the biggest question is how to keep her safe and get her ex off the streets before its to late for her, and for them.

Smoke & Mirrors (Nite Fire #3)Smoke & Mirrors by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Nite Fire: Smoke and Mirrors is Book 3 in the Nite Fire series. Although I read this book without reading the previous two, I found it fairly easy to follow without the information from the other books. C. L. Schneider weaves a remarkable tale of mystery, suspense, fantasy, and the supernatural. I loved the amazing characters and how relatable they were, even if the main character, Dahlia Nite, is a half-dragon shape shifter. I found her concern for those closest to her to be heartwarming, even though she must keep secrets from them to protect them. C. L. Schneider also creates wonderful, fantastical worlds. From the human world to the dragon world, I could picture each while I was reading and was instantly transported there along with the characters! I will look into reading the first two books of this series and look forward to more by this author!

Hockey Romance does nothing but make you smile and give you all the good feels. Sports and Romance go hand in hand, and the second chance trope only enhances the dynamic.

Levi and Brynn’s story spoke to the heart. A history in which they were high school sweethearts who would have been more had family not intervened. 10 years later the Hockey star and the Divorcee get their second chance. A story proving love never dies and second chances can be given anytime. You will feel this story and the character emotions until the very last word, and it does not disappoint.

This is an enthralling story set in a fantastic world. The author did an amazing job of world building that when you read, you will enter a whole new realm full of magic, mystery and intrigue. The story is original and creative. Adrijana heads to the palace with her father to visit her friend Simeon. Unfortunately during her first night there, a murder occurs and she is blamed. The same night she learns that she is a mesmerist as well. Her life is turned upside down. Although acquitted of the first death, the royal family is being eliminated one by one. If she ever wants to enjoy her life, Adrijana must solve this mystery and find the real murderer.

The story is filled with twists and turns that will keep you wanting more. The magic of Mesmerism was fun to explore. The author was creative and inventive with their powers. You will go on a wild adventure of magic and mystery. You will not be disappointed.

This book was so good! So many emotions!

Gina is home after being Injured and leaving the military. She is making a new life in Maine and just keeping to herself and her sisters. She never expected Bryce but she can’t stop thinking about him. Their chemistry is off the charts but will everything Gina keeps hidden ruin what they are building?

I couldn’t put this book down!! There were so many emotions and the characters were great! Gina is so strong and definitely learned that beauty comes from within and just because she struggles to see the beauty doesn’t mean it’s not there.

Tia is trying to put the past behind her, but can she trust a stranger to help her find love again and leave her past behind her.

Theo is a detective but he is an administrative leave due to taking a bullet, but he believes there is a traitor in the station but he needs to find out, but when he stumbles upon a women who he sees in her her eyes she is running from someone, he becomes interested in her as he feels something drawing him to this beautiful soul.

This story brings these two characters together one a victim and one a hero, Theo is a precious soul from the word go, although I found that Tia (Sofia) trusted him a little too soon but I felt that they were genuine with each other and the chemistry just jumped off the page. The weave of the story and the constant feeling you are walking through the details with them gives an edge to the story.

I loved this story and it flowed really well, the characters were well developed and complimented each other brilliantly, I can’t wait for the next book in the series.

Savage Secrets is the 4th book in the Mafia Elite series by Amy McKinley. I have read all the books in this series so far and have nothing but praise for them. Each book focuses on the relationships between two mafia families. In this book we finally meet the elusive Elena, who has been presumed dead for a number of years. When the threat that made her leave initially finds out that she is still alive, boss Marco is sent to retrieve her. When reunited the pair get to know each other again, without a pesky arranged marriage in the way. I really like how strong the female characters are in this series, Elena especially has her own very valuable skill set that she can use to protect those she loves. Looking forward to reading book 5.

Opinion
This series is a big win for fans who love mafia books. With each book released, I am amazed at the situations the main characters find themselves in. This one is no exception. This book was a joy to read from start to finish and I cannot wait for the next book to come out.

The inter-weaving of genres is awesome in this book. The fact that the male and female main characters have history is cool. Brynn is trying to get her life together after a divorce and Levi is the captain of a Hockey team.
The development of characters and story line was well planned and really written well. I really enjoyed the Cabin photoshoot. That had to be my most favorite part.
I am a new reader to this author but I will definitely be picking up book 2 when it comes out.

When high school sweethearts get a second chance?!?!? It happens and it happens often, but little do Levi and Brynn know it’s about to happen to them.
A sweet story of hurt and betrayal but not like you would think. High school sweethearts a trust fund baby and someone from the wrong side of the tracks. Think Pretty in Pink to set the scene, the difference is it’s the one from the wrong side of the tracks that sabotages the relationship. Of course at the request of the family.
Levi was once asked this question, “if you truly love her you will let her go, don’t let her throw her life away for someone who can’t provide for her…” That decision being the worst of his life, being it’s now 10 years later and still has thoughts of his 1st love.
Brynn, newly divorced and struggling to survive, refuses to ask her family for help. One job that she needs desperately, meets Bridger who is about to completely disrupt her whole life, indirectly that is.
See Levi is the captain of the pro-hockey team he and Bridger are members of. Bridger invites Brynn to help with a job unbeknownst that her high school sweetheart, the man who devastated her, would be there.
What happens when Brynn and Levi meet again?
Is the connection instant or are they distant?
Do they rekindle what they once had?
If you want to know those answers, I’d advise you jump right into Power Play. Power Play is a second chance romance that doesn’t disappoint!
Oh and I can’t wait to read Bridger and Tia’s story next!

This author has completely captivated me with this wonderful mafia series. Every book that I read by her, I think cannot be any better than the next and I am constantly wowed with what happens. Elena has been on the run for years to keep herself save and alive so that she does not meet the same fate that her mother did. Marco has thought that she has been dead all of these years, the only woman that he has ever loved, and is shocked to find out that she is still alive and very much in danger. He sees this as his chance to not only be with her but to make sure that she gets home safe. While they do not trust each other’s motives in the beginning, throughout the story they learn to trust each other again. This book has by far been the best one in the series so far and I cannot wait for the next one!

Suspenseful romance drama
This is the first book I have read by this author and the first in a series. I enjoyed watching the characters develop and confronting their demons. It is a fast moving story and does not stall at all. The author handles some hard issues with sensitivity all the while still bringing the heat factor. A well written contemporary romance with a twist.
