I now understand why there were a few people that I know that read this book that refused to read it at night. I was one of them, and furthermore, had to make sure that my partner was at home at night rather than at work before I read this fingernail bite inducing novel. The way that the author really digs deep into developing Abbey’s personality and thoughts is incredible, and you do feel as though you, the reader, are inside her head without a doubt. Despite the fear and terror that is pulled from these pages, there is also a lot of happiness in the connections, friendships and her relationship with her family, that bring the story all together. In some spots, it felt like I was reading an episode of ‘Supernatural,’ and it pulled me in even more.

Walking on Sunshine is one of my favourite songs of all time, not just from the 80’s, so I know this author has some great tastes to include the musical encouragement for the characters throughout the novel. I did, however, find that this novel felt to be a bit long-winded, though understandably so in order to really get the reader on the edge of her seat, it just was a bit much for me. I fully intend to read Abnormally Abbey as soon as I have the time and look forward to learning more about her and her backstory. Overall, a fantastic read, and I would recommend to anyone looking to have the hair on the back of their neck stand up, well done!
