My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is an interracial romance with a happily ever after standalone.

Layla Bennett, a Blerdy (Black + Nerdy) fanatic, is looking forward to meeting her favorite comic book creator. She’s excited to collect his autograph, shake his hand, and pose for a photo with him while dressed as in costume. At least, that’s how she felt until meeting him and melting beneath his seductive blue eyes. Vic Williams, a comic book writer and New York Times best-selling novelist, is as seductive as the superheroes he portrays. Layla is under his spell, at least until the end of the weekend, thanks to his genial charisma.

Layla walks home with a great narrative about seeing her idol after their convention meets up, knowing that nothing would come from her fangirl blubbering. Vic and Layla meet online and immediately develop a long-distance romance, replete with anime, ramen, and excursions to the comic book store with a comic book writer. Layla is captivated with her real-life superhero, but things aren’t always as they appear, just as in comic books. Hidden realities rise to the surface under the bright lights of the comic con floor. Can Layla and Vic find their way back together despite the harsh realities of the fandom world?

I loved this story. I loved every page of it. Every chapter was exciting. This is my first book from this author and I can’t wait to read more from this author.
