Deacon (Saints vs Sinners Series) by CJ Warrant – Review by Amy Brennan

Deacon (Saints vs Sinners Series Book 1)Deacon by CJ Warrant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are moments in life that take us to a place in our minds that we never wish to revisit. Loss tends to take away our ability to see the sunshine, rainbows and silver linings of this life. This seems to very much be the problem that Deacon, our main man in this experience, suffers from and the hits just keep coming. Luckily for him, he has his Disciples, his chosen family to have his back through the good and the bad. They seem to really keep him in check and do whatever they can to help me regain his footing. The author does an immaculate job at portraying the hardships of life, the emotional roller coaster, and the personality of an overall incredibly loving and caring man and his family throughout. I couldn’t put the novel down, and let it eat up most of this past weekend, without complaint, of course!

Now, Olivia, or Liv as her nearest and dearest refer to her as, has many of the same hardships, losses and issues that Deacon has been experiencing, both having lost their fathers, and feeling like the weight of the world rest on their shoulders. Liv’s issues continue to develop as the story moves forward, and things start to get really unclear as to what she is to deem right, and wrong in her choices. Luckily for these two, they know that when times get extraordinarily tough, they will be there for each other, too, no matter what. This story was fantastic from start to finish what with the character development, world building, and suspense, and I cannot wait to continue this series, an find out more about Sinner’s back story. Highly recommend!
