It is told from a variety of viewpoints, so if that’s not something you enjoy, this may not be a read for you. I’m excited to read more from the Guardians of PHAE series! And the title is definitely fun!

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. This is a well written romance story that the author’s attention to details made the story feel realistic. Her writing style is such that her books are easy to read and engaging. Her characters make the story come to life. This book is no different. The characters have great chemistry and I enjoyed how supportive of each other. I enjoyed watching their growth throughout. This is a story about Levi and Kindle. Their story is one of romance, rejection and there could be more at stake than they realize. I really enjoyed their story. They made the story entertaining and hard to put down. This is a story you don’t want to miss, a great romance story. I highly recommend this book.

Wow!! I loved this story… especially since Heart is part of the Satan’s Devils MC and Marc is a cop. At first Marc is trying to help investigate a terrible accident that invoked Heart and his late wife Crystal.. but what becomes an investigation leads into a friendship of Marc and Heart but also sinister plot against Marc….along with some hot scenes between Marc and Heart but also grief, doubt and sadness with Both characters and their stories. This was a great story to listen to.

This is the first book in a spin off series, but for anyone out there who thinks this book sounds interesting and wants to just dive right in, you do not have to read the prior series to read this book and I promise it its worth the read.
Exciting,…Full of Adventure and Magic This book can be read by itself or in relation to series. Chloe and her sister have finally settled into life outside of Faerie with her Fae brother and his family nearby. Chloe enjoying a mundane existence is kept busy providing remedies for the townspeople (nonmagical remedies) as an apothecary, However her life is about to be thrown into chaos. An unexpected visitor from her past appears suddenly, demanding Chloe’s return to Faire to save her older sister and all Fae. The danger comes from mortals using iron to trap the Fae in their kingdoms and their poison began affecting the human realm. Can Chloe save her sister kingdom and all of Fae kind?
I genuinely enjoyed this book, it does end in a cliffhanger, so I’m patiently awaiting the next book. I am also now going to go back and read the series before this, I have a feeling I’m going to really enjoy the previous episode series.
All and all a wonderful magical and supernatural themed book, with anything but your typical main character.

This was a really good read. I enjoyed it a lot. The story follows Chloe as she reluctantly goes back to Faerie to save her sister from mortals who are set on taking over the courts of Faerie. Chloe so far has been content with living a normal life in the mortal realm, but puts her personal feelings aside to save her sister. I really appreciated Chloe’s fierce intelligence and drive even in the midst of danger. Also I’m such a sucker for hard headed romance. You know the kind where the main characters get on each other’s nerves, and yet they can’t stay away from one another. Each swears the other one is the most stubborn person they have ever met and yet when their eyes meet they both have to fight not to blush. Yup that’s kind of the vibe this romance gives. And I loved evert bit of it. I can’t wait to see what comes after this. There was an underlying message that I hope every woman who reads this pays attention to. I won’t spoil it, read it yourself! But all in all if your a fan of Sarah J Maas or Jennifer L. Armentrout then you will like this a lot. Flame and Crystal Thorns is the first book in this series. It’s a spin off of The Fae of Bitter Thorn series by Kay L. Moody. Although it has a few minor spoilers from The Fae of Bitter Thorn, it can be read and enjoyed as a stand alone series. It honestly is motivating me to check out the other series.

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 2) by Lauren Fraser. I am loving this series! It can be read as a standalone but I prefer to read them in order. Its the story of Kendall who goes to stay at her brothers best friend’s (Pete) house for a week while she is in town. Kendall has also had a crush on Pete since she was 12. Pete has always been a good friend because he won’t break bro code. Kendall is very much in charge and she plans to proposition Pete. She thinks she can sleep with him and get him out of her system. Pete is a real heartbreaker and wouldn’t hurt a fly especially his best friend. He is always willing to help everyone out when they need it. They are both super good people but will Pete break bro code and go for Kendall or will he continue to deny Kendall her fantasies. The chemistry is strong between these two and its such a good read!

This is the second book in the series but can be read as a stand alone. That is what I did. This book has tons of steam and is a very quick easy read. I got sucked into story right away with how the female lead (Kendall) behaves. She is upfront with all the feelings. The book gives a back story so you can see the growth. I love that Kendall isn’t a push over or a needy female that can tend to happen in some sport romance books. The leading male (Pete) is a perfect example of your typical boy next door. He is kind and follows the bro code of not dating your best friends sister. This book was fast paced and I wish there was a little bit more to the romance of them falling together. I loved that the characters were able to grow throughout the story. The journey that they take feels genuine just a little lacking in verbiage. It really is an amazing book and a very simple read. I feel like I am just being picky with wanting more romance between the two of them. The steam is there and it is a “fan yourself kind of heat.” I do recommend this book for a quick little beach read, I mean if you’re already red from the sun – no one is gonna notice the lush you get while reading some of the scenes in this book. This is my first book by this author which I enjoyed and look forward to reading more from him. I enjoyed his writing style that made the story come to life. His attention to details made the story realistic. I found this book to be fast paced and full of twists and turns. I enjoyed how the characters were able to pull me into their story. They are connectable and kept me turning pages to the end. They have great growth throughout which made the story easy to read. You don’t want to miss what happens in this story. A daughter comes up missing and puts Nora’s success and failures to the test. What will happen to Nora with everyone watching her? She is a great, supportive character. She is my favorite and made the story for me. A great afternoon story that I highly recommend.

Coyote’s Road Trip by Laura Koerber. This is a great dystopian/fantasy story. Its not my favorite genre but it was so good I loved it. Its the story of Coyote who is a shape shifter and he’s on a journey to discover his self identity. He is trying to decide what his purpose is and on that journey he’s finding out what is most important. He believes what is most important is happiness and finding your purpose. While on this journey he makes some crazy decisions but doesn’t really hurt anyone. The author makes this read so real that you feel as if you are actually in these beautiful places. I read this book in one sitting! Such a good read!

This story was definitely an interesting one. While most dystopian stories areaction based this one was the perfect pace, it had that certain feel like your taking a long drive on a Sunday afternoon. I also really loved that it was told from the first person point of view, it was definitely one of my most unique reads this year. When i first saw the beautiful cover I had a feelinh that I would enjoy this book and its originality and I was definitely right.

This was a very interesting read! This was a quick dystopian read. I really enjoyed the authors writing style and will definitely be reading more from them. The descriptive words help you visualize the scenes in the story. This story makes you want to take a road trip and have an actual good conversation. Its really an interesting perspective to read about. I believe this is a prequel to another of this authors books so I’ll be picking that one up soon!

I enjoyed reading this shorter paranormal story. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. One of the things I enjoy most about this author is her ability to pull me in with her attention to details. I also enjoy her writing style that not only makes the story pop but also makes it come to life. I found this book to be fast paced and engaging. It is a hard to put down story about a shapeshifter that is looking for a new home. He will take you on an adventure of not only finding where he belongs but also finds so much more than he expected. This is a great story with characters that are connectable and creative. The growth of the story and characters made the story easy and entertaining to read. This is a great story that I highly recommend. You don’t want to miss this one.

Coyote Jim is a shape shifting coyote stuck in a world that has gone to heck. Climate change has ruined his desert climate so he’s taken off on a journey from Nevada up towards Washington. On the way, he sees how much the climate has been ruined by the humans. Though fiction, the perspective of seeing the world through the eyes of a nature spirit puts a new spin. Like the myths of the coyote, he gets into mischief, good and bad, just to get by. He tries to help others. I found the ghost characters really fascinating. Every book from this author leaves me wanting to dive more into all the topics I find in these books: myths, climate change, etc. The book was incredibly profound. I feel there were so many little things to pick up. The characters all felt like they each had their own quirks to their personalities. TJ was a messed up teen that Jim made sure went were she needed and didn’t end up in the wrong hands. He made sure Jane and her dad were well taking care of. The community that Raven had made was just ripe for making friends. It seemed to be just what Jim needed. The plot was fairly smooth, a little choppy in spots, but that may have been interruptions on my end. I loved the tone and the descriptions were incredible of all the sunsets and the ocean. The desert and the mountain descriptions made it so easy to picture them just like I was there. It is such a descriptive book that you feel like you are experiencing it with him. A wonderful book that I highly reccomend to all.

This book had me sneaking in every second of reading I could get in. It was very hard to put down.

This story takes you from the past to the present with Grace. You start out with Grace as a small child, who is taking care of her sick ma, and her sister. When she gets jumped going to the store for her dad. All of a sudden this potential of a young fighter comes through. She never let go of the money her dad handed her that day. Dad takes her to this gym, where she meets her mentor, Carl. Along with Mason& Alasdair. They start as a team, and Grace makes them into her family. She gets offered a job as a UFC fighter, and she JUMPS at the opportunity. This book is so well written, you wont be able to put it down. You can really connect to Grace through all her trials in her life. I cannot wait for Johnny’s book.

This was a great 5 star read. My emotions were all over the place with this read. Grace is a hard worker trying to pay the bills and take care of her mother and sister. She ends up losing one of her jobs and she decides to move from underground fighting to pursue UFC fighting.
Will her choices be the right ones?
I really loved Grace, she was a very strong woman who would work and fight for anything. Grace’s story had so much in it, along with some great secondary characters. I loved them all and I can’t wait to read their stories (fingers crossed we will get them). The author does a great job with her writing, I was pulled right in and didn’t want to put it down until I was done. Grace is a fighter. She is fierce and strong and independent. The very best type of heroine in the best possible type of love story. This is a love story for the ages; though that is not the first thing you would think when you read it. It is not your typical love story, but it is nothing short of perfect.
Carsen Lane fills the pages with warmth and urgency. The imagery is palpable and the fight inside the characters is so relatable. The book not only follows pursuit of a dream, but makes it real and painstakingly detailed in every aspect toward reaching that goal. The feelings invoked are deep and vast. You can feel what Grace feels without useless internal chatter and timidity so often found in narratives.
This book takes you on a ride and casually surprises. I CANNOT wait to read more.

The series is a twist on Greek Mythology and the first book focuses on a new interpretation of the relationship between Apollo the Sun God and Hyacinth. It is written from the view point of 3 of the main characters in the story, Apollo, Hyacinth, and Epiphany. At the start of the book, Apollo is still part mortal and has not ascended to become a God. He lives in the mortal realm with his younger half-sister Temi. Apollo would prefer not to ascend and take his place as the sun god, but his father Zeus’s patience is waning. Zeus gives Apollo an ultimatum, ascend now or spend a year with Prince Hyacinth learning how to be a better prince. Since Apollo would rather stay mortal longer, he begrudgingly travels to Hyacinth’s kingdom with Temi. Hyacinth or Cyn, as he is called, would rather not have a spoiled half God underfoot, but if Zeus commands it, he must follow it. The two slowly begin to work together and get to know each other on a more personal level. Gradually the relationship moves from enemies to friends, into something more. While Apollo and Cyn are trying to figure things out together, we are also seeing the view point of Cyn’s younger sister Ephiany who has started spending more time with Temi. Epiphany is soon to be on the marriage market, but she would rather make her own destiny. She and Temi become close friends who encourage each other to step outside their comfort zones and see the world with a different perspective. The author uses modern language in the book which makes it enjoyable to follow. She writes in a way that it feels like she is seamlessly bringing ancient Greece into the modern world, while still capturing the feel of ancient times. The story definitely kept me engrossed until the last page. Her interpretation of the different Gods and how they interacted flowed well. The characters are all well developed and the storyline was tightly woven. She took a well-known story and created a whole new world for the characters to live in. I can’t wait to read the following books.

I knew A Long Kiss Goodbye has a paranormal aspect, but never did I expect the route it went. The author wrote an interesting story. A story I was sucked into, I had to keep reading once I started. Once I was done, I felt like the emotions I went through, I have a love/hate relationship for this book. Avery, an ordinary woman in her late 20s, ends up in an extraordinary situation. That’s tied to the murders happening in her Arizona home. She just doesn’t understand how. Someone attacked her, cut into her chest but she’s still alive. People nearby are suffering the same fate, but aren’t surviving. The question is, why? Luys is way more than he seems. He’s hiding something and Avery doesn’t like it. Now that she knows her neighbor she’s going to push him to reveal parts of his past. It won’t be easy for either person to understand but it needs to be said. Now being the prime suspect in the murder of someone in their complex, Luys needs to figure out his next steps. It’s a case of whodunnit, with a paranormal twist. Can Luys prove his innocence? Does he turn in the real culprit, or continue to protect her? Does Avery finally see who Luys truly is? All that and so many more questions will litter your mind while reading this book. Which is exactly how the author sucks you in! Don’t believe me, check it out for yourself!

A Long Kiss Goodbye is the second book in the Onyx & Mercury series by H.D. Thomson. Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Have I not discovered this brilliant author before now????? After reading this I have to admit that I have seriously been missing out on some stellar reading for some time…. But, on the other hand I am excited to find that there is a long list of other books to this author’s name for me to devour- so I can feel a massive book-binge is in order. Limbering up my one-click finger in preparation. This is a seriously good paranormal romance with a twisty, intense, mysterious and entirely suspenseful storyline. The author writes incredibly well, and it is apparent that she is quite a talented storyteller, skilfully crafting her story with palpable tension, edge of your seat danger, unexpected developments, simmering chemistry, and superb world-building. I was so hooked on the story that I couldn’t and wouldn’t put it down. It wasn’t until I had finished and went looking to see what else I could find from this author that I discovered that this is the second book in the series. So, I am setting off on Book #1 as soon as I complete this review. Being the second book in the series didn’t impact my reading of the story in any way… I never felt like I was missing any part of the storyline or any details. It has, however, made me extremely curious to discover what happened in Book #1. So excited to be embarking on a new love affair with this author- well, her books that is lol.. I am so looking forward to my book binge with H.D. Thomson. So happy to have finally discovered her work, as my first time has proved to be one of my favourite reads of the year, so far! This fast paced, steamy paranormal romance will keep you at the edge of your seat. This book was definitely a page turner, leaving you always wanting more. Toya did an amazing job writing this book. From the steamy dreams, to the hot hot hot romance scenes, to even the action and fighting scenes. The relationship building between Angelina and her men along with the new and old friendships, you were never left unfulfilled as the reader.
I gave 4 out of 5 stars for this book, because I felt that there could have been more detail in parts of the book. I felt, especially in the beginning, time was forgotten. The story just bounced around and what seemed like a day, was actually a couple of hours in the story or vice versa. With one bad thing that happened, in the end it was a majority of a feel good book. Overall, the story was a great quick read, with an even better ending. I really look forward to reading more from this author, and cannot wait to see what comes next.
