Victoriously Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #4)Victoriously Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in a fantastic contemporary romance series that I have loved every book so far. Book 4 is just as good, if not better than the previous three, all of which were 5 star reads in my opinion.
In this series we are getting the stories of 5 guys who are named as the Titans of Manhattan, all successful billionaires in their chosen fields. This time we are getting the story of Jonas Courtland, major hotel developer who has absolutely no inclination to join his three friends in committing to just one woman. Well, that is until Mackenzie Broderick comes back into his life. Mackenzie is the preachers daughter who he seduced at high school as part of a bet with his friends. Little did he know just how much his actions had changed her life.
I loved reading Mackenzie and Jonas’ story. It’s quite angsty, which I love. Watching Mackenzie, who is determined to hate Jonas, fight the feelings she still has for him, makes for some great reading. I was really gripped by their story and hated real life for getting in the way and making me put this book down.
We still have one more titan to go in this series and I can say that I’ll be very sad to see this series end. I’ll just have to read it all again sometime.

Between Darkness & Light (War of Destiny Book 3) by Theresa Van Spankeren – Review by Kerry Carr

Between Darkness & Light (War of Destiny #3)Between Darkness & Light by Theresa Van Spankeren
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the War Of Destiny Series and I loved it. The author does such a good job with the story and the characters. The story had me totally gripped and spellbound through it all. This book deal with some dark emotions such as guilt, regret, despair and at times complete helplessness.

Julie is back. After her actions from the last book we find her being shunned by her vampire family. If that wasn’t bad enough she also has to deal with the guilt for the loss of some of their people due to her actions. She sees no way through this and when she starts to see and hear people who aren’t there things get progressively worse. While she is dealing with theses feelings and the fear she is going mad, Samuel goes missing.

He is devasted by what has happened and when he disappears Julia knows she needs to find him and fast. Will he accept her presence? Will she get to him before its too late?

Add to this the dangers of the Hunters that have arrived and when one of the Hunters looks familiar to Julie this raises more questions.
Once you start this series you won’t be able to put it down and this one just adds to the already amazing series

I was so excited when I saw that this book was coming out so soon and I am not afraid to admit that I read this book in one day! I loved the first book in the series, and I loved this book just as much! This book revolved around Bridger who is the known as a bachelor and Tia, who can hold her own with anyone and is a spit fire. The sparks fly for both of them when they meet the weekend doing the calendar photoshoot for the players and it just snowballs from there. The way the author writes makes me feel as though I am right there in the action and not just reading the book! I cannot wait to read more GREAT books by this author!

No Pistol Tastes the Same (PTSD Disaster Book 1) by Jacob Paul Patchen – Review by Amanda Swindle

No Pistol Tastes the SameNo Pistol Tastes the Same by Jacob Paul Patchen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is heavy, and may have intense trigger warnings for those that suffer from PTSD. That being said, this was a book that I could not put down. No Pistol Tastes the Same is about PTSD, a very real and very intense illness that many of our war vets come home with. The synopsis of the book reads “Sergeant JP Grimm didn’t pull the trigger. Now his Marine brothers are dead…” The intended target of that bullet? A child. A child in a suicide vest that eerily reminds him of his very own son. A moment of hesitation, and the bomb goes off, leaving his entire team deceased around him. After the split second that cost him everything, JP must go home, and pretend war never happened. He tries to bond with his son, who he keeps seeing in that young boy so very far away. JP struggles with his own thoughts, denial, and grief, and you (the reader) will be taken on an emotional rollercoaster.

This is book three of the series. What a fantastical ride it is. Julia must work with her ka-tet to help her, even with them lacking faith due to her working with Valentino in the last book. Julie and Matthew must save Simon, battle apparitions, and help a rogue vampire. There is a lot going on in the story. This is why it is so good. I was pulled in from the beginning and just couldn’t put it down. I had to continue to know how things were going for Julia. Her loyalies are being tested every time she turns around. She’s seeing things. The plot has a couple of choppy spots but you can get through ok because it still goes together fairly smooth. I loved how the author tied the characters together but life wasn’t perfect; there were still problems. Fun book that I recommend.

The Cave of Ruin Arsa (The Cross of Ciaran Book 3)The Cave of Ruin Arsa by Andrea Matthews
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a great addition to the series! Plenty of suspense, mystery, hidden identities, and a bit of sensualness thrown in! With the focus on family, old and new, the stakes are higher now that Ciarán and Caitlin have children, reopening old wounds from Ciarán’s past. The power of the goddess is shown to those who know what is going on, but the group of people who know about Ciarán and Aodhán is growing and that can be dangerous. I enjoy reading about the strong bond between Ciarán and Aodhán and, just when I thought we were done with them, there will be more! I really enjoyed this book and can’t wait for the next one!

Romance with a thrilling twist
This was brilliantly written. Remi and Audri are amazingly characters – well developed and with underlying flaws that made them so real and relatable. The story is multilayered with suspense and drama that kept me vested right until the end. Starts as a best friend’s sister romance but moves in to so much more. A strong first book in the series (can be read as a stand-alone) and I can’t wait to read more about the Waterfyre Men.

Vive la Resistance (Donovan Trait Book 3) by Seelie Kay – Review by Santana Hicks

Vive la ResistanceVive la Resistance by Seelie Kay
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the third book of the Donovan Trait series and it is just as good as the first two. Still in hiding Donovan and Shirley are raising their twins while trying to protect them and themselves for the coalition that wants to take away their children. Born behind the coalition’s back, the council did not take too lightly to it. The birth of the twins showed the other vampires that someone has been lying for years now they are covering their tracks.

Donovan and his family have declared war on the coalition. If they are going down, everyone is going down with them. The coalition retorted with genocide of any vampire who is not of pure blood. Everything seems to be working against the Trait family.

This book was by far the most action filled of the three. I was rooting for the Trait family from the very beginning. I love Donovan and Shirleys relationship. They are a power couple so in love. The twins are loved by all and have complete opposite personalities. They are an adorable family.

I loved Bridger and Tia’s story! I had a feeling that I would when they were introduced in the first book. The fire between them was palpable, and they couldn’t stay away from each other. She was damaged, and he was trying to change his image. They were so good together no matter what they had to go through to get to each other. It was supposed to be just one weekend of fun, but will their no strings weekend be enough for this steamy duo?

The Mastermind : A Brother’s Best Friend Romance (WaterFyre Rising Book 1)

I am once again amazed by a first time author and their debut.  I was hooked from the very beginning and had a hard time putting it down.  I dropped my kindle on my face a few times because I had to keep going.

This book had a little bit of everything and several twists that I didn’t come close to expecting which may have made me enjoy it that much more since so often books can be predictable.

Remington and Audri are more than perfect together.  They had a lot to deal with, more than the normal couple to get to their moment.

The sparks were flying from my kindle as I read the beginning of Grayson’s house warming party, the description of the car was perfectly detailed and just wow.

There is so much more I could say but won’t since most of it pertains to certain pivotal moments.  What I will say is be ready to be surprised,  there is nothing typical about this book.

This is an author I will be looking forward to reading again in the future.

Oliver, A Story of Adoption by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Anantha Rusum

Oliver: A Story about AdoptionOliver: A Story about Adoption by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book primarily focuses on issues faced when a child is adopted. The child always tends to think that if he/she were with their real parents things “could” have been better.
Oliver lives with his adoptive parents, and one day, after getting scolded by his dad on a silly mistake, he goes into his room and sulks if things would have been better if he was with his real parents. Would they have scolded him? Or would they have loved him better.
But then he comes downstairs with his parents baking cookies and being very loving to him. They are very understanding and tell him that the emotions he is going through are normal and they have to work out a solution with love.
This is a book which will sensitize children on the topic of adoption. It is tackled in a subtle and gentle way. I quite liked the book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Paisley Grace is not having good luck. Her mom is in a coma after a terrible accident, bills keep racking up, and her paintings are not going to be displayed much longer. All she wants is for her mom to get better and her art work to be seen by the people. Her luck is turned around when she runs into an old time friend who happens to be one of the Titans of Manhattan. Caspian Archer is not the same beaten down little boy he used to be. He is the acting CEO of Archer Industries and he does not want to change his bachelor ways. That is until his uncle gives him a choice. Either get married or he is never going to own the company. He is livid about this but then runs into Paisley, who could use the help he can offer her. Will their marriage end after the contract is up or will they truly fall in love?
This book is so good. I feel that a lot of people can relate to Paisley when she is going through her hard time. And even though most cannot compare their lives to Caspian’s lifestyle, I think they can relate to the inner battles that he deals with. Romance, deception, and witty.

This was my first book by this author and I wasn’t disappointed. It was a romance staring Bridger and Tia. I liked them both and you could see the sparks flying from miles away. They were completely different but sometimes those are the best couples together even if they fight it. And the banter between them was great! I am definitely going to go back and read the first book in this series. I didn’t feel like I was missing anything because this book can be read as a standalone but i liked this book enough that I want to check out this authors other books! I would recommend this to anyone looking for a romance read!

Such a sweet character. Jake is afraid to go to daycare, because he’s nervous to make new friends for different reasons. But he gives it a try with the help of his squirrel friend. He eventually finds 2 new friends there, one just as shy as he is, and he soon learns he had nothing to worry about. This is a great story to read to your kids to teach them to try new things. I love the Jake series, he’s a sweet heart and I love the messages behind them. Each book has its own message and fun activities to do with your child in the back.

Victoriously Yours is the fourth book in the Titans of Manhattan series. Holy Heck what a ride! This book sucked me in from the first page and there was no stopping until I finished. I’ve read several books by her and each one gets better and better. I highly recommend reading this series in order as each book is about a different Titan and the characters overlap plus you get to read about hot rich sexy men. This is Jonas’s and Kenzie’s story and what a ride. These two are so different yet the same. They went to high school together where a bet turned bad you can say . A decade later Kenzie finds herself in a competition for a chef position at a restaurant in a building owned by the one guy who shattered her heart back when they were in school. These two will take you on quite the emotional rollercoaster ride and there may be some things that may be a trigger . I absolutely loved reading this book as I was patiently waiting for Jonas’s story. I don’t want to give up to much. So I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next. Can there past be forgiven? I can not wait for the next book in this series.

A powerful and heartfelt narrative about the life, love, and death of Kingsley. For the author to share a portion of her life for those who may also be grieving the loss of a pet, I am truly thankful. The story shows the nuances of illness when it happens to our animals. It was a beautiful detailing of his life and is so special for those who need the validation of the experience. A useful story for those in similar situations

This book follows Jake down his favorite trail, where he notices unknown tracks and a scent that scares him. He gets himself all worried about who the tracks could belong, imagining zombies and giants and other scary monsters. And in the end it turns out to be a newfound friend. Love how the author makes the rhymes feel so smooth. Makes me miss Dr. Seuss. All of Jake’s books teach great lessons in their stories and have cute little exercises at the end that you can do with your child.

Victoriously Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 4) by Anise Storm – Review by Amy Brennan

Victoriously Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #4)Victoriously Yours by Anise Storm

A playboy, with a past that explains so much and makes you want to cuddle the man until the world comes to an end. I have read three of the four books in this series thus far, and by far, this one is my favorite. Their past holds so many emotions, good and bad, and ones that hold on for the entirety of their lives, but I suppose I will let you read and find out what’s to come from Jonas and Kenzies’ reunion.

This author has yet to disappoint me when it comes to character development, pulling at heartstrings, and bringing the story to life and before the reader, the story ends, because it’s just that worthy of a binge read. I will be reading this series, and specifically this novel again, as mental health is huge in today’s society, and I don’t think anything helps more than to read of those that also are coping with them, be it within literature or in real life. It’s also nice for this author to remind folks that it’s not just those that struggle that struggle with mental health issues, rather they aren’t picky, they affect everyone. Well done, and you know I’ll be highly recommending this read!

Seductively Yours (Titans Of Manhattan, #3)Seductively Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love this author and her ability to make one want to feel the love that vibrates off these pages. I have enjoyed getting to know the Titans of Manhattan thus far, and I have to say, the fact that Mason has made it his life’s goal to provide the women that work for him safe and protected in their lifestyle is incredibly inspiring and though it’s a work of fiction, the way that he does so makes me so happy. I know that in real life it’s still quite difficult to find a spot where you are well taken care of in that line of work and not have to worry about one’s personal safety.

I also love that Rhyann proves that just because women elect to work in that line of work doesn’t mean that they don’t have a side story and that being a dancer is hard, in all aspects of the job/lifestyle/career. What really made me smile was the way in which Rhyann and Mason come together and show their vulnerable side, at first with difficulty, and then the way it just comes naturally. Read to find out how naturally it comes! I very much look forward to the rest of this series, as these stories just seem to get better and better. Well done!

The Prospect of Death (An Alyssa Chalmers Cozy Mystery) by Carmen Radtke – Review by Julie Johnson

The Prospect of Death (Alyssa Chalmers mysteries, #2)The Prospect of Death by Carmen Radtke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

What a great, cozy little historical murder mystery romance novel to spend my Saturday enjoying! Alyssa and several of her friends have travelled from Australia to Canada in the hopes of finding husbands. They depart from the boat and start learning their way around Run’s End when the hotel owner is found murdered. Alyssa would much rather be a sleuth than to be married and she’s running around trying to solve this murder. Meanwhile, the other girls are marrying off and making a life for themselves. Will Alyssa find her happily ever after or will she remain a sleuth?

I enjoyed this book very much. The characters were very loveable, the writing fairly plain (although there are a couple of scenes that I felt might have been abandoned), and there was a great balance of mystery and romance. I was not aware that this was the second book in this series so this can definitely be read as stand-alone but I’m going to go back and read the first book!

Caging Grace (Grace Series Book 1) by Carsen Lane – Review by Colleen Noyes

Caging Grace (Grace Series, #1).Caging Grace (Grace Series, #1). by Carsen Lane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is my favorite story I’ve read so far this year it had every single aspect that you would want in a contemporary women’s sports fiction. The female main character Grace is bold, fierce, and broken. This character is written so immensely strong I found myself not able to stop reading. She was supported by an equally amazing array of characters but not once did the author stray from this being a book about a strong female character who is fighting through her life, a very difficult one at that. The author was brilliant at how she showed so many signs of this one person. You could feel the strength, the fright, the love, the struggle, the guilt, and the sheer will of determination. I really loved that each character had their own struggles and sense of brokenness but they never once overshadowed or took over from the character of Grace. While there are moments of relationship building the story is clearly about a woman’s journey and finding out who she is, where she wants to go, and where she has been. The story felt like it was written by someone who has experienced those things and I felt so connected to the writing style and the character. This is a book that I will not soon forget and will probably go back and read it a second time after I read the novella Bound By Grace. I cannot wait for more books in the series or more books by this author. If you have ever had to fight through anything in your life then pick up this book and you will find yourself no longer feeling alone.

As Close to Perfect is a great love story about two people who have been hurt in the past. Bree has not had good relationships with men. Then, she meets Nate and he helps her walls come down. At first, she resists her feelings for him. But, the more time they spend together, the more the two of them realize that they were destined for each other. The story builds on Bree and Nate’s chemistry and when they finally get together, the tension is relieved. I loved seeing the progression of their relationship from first date to everything in between. The ending was beautiful and showed that true love always leads to happily ever after. I recommend that every woman who has ever been in a bad relationship and loves romance movies to read this book. You will not be disappointed. This story proves that there is someone out there for everyone.

The death of a drug rehab director, the addiction of Anne, and many others that was not caused by their own choosing. How does one become so addicted to a controlled substance without one’s knowledge? That is a great question and one that eventually gets answered in the book PREMEDITATED. There are so many well written characters in the book and each one is so real that the book feels very authentic. This book was a page turner from the very beginning until the last word! It was fun to follow along and try to decipher who the person is that is behind the addictions, murders, and attempted murders. You will not be disappointed! My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Let me start by saying the third book in this series, was hands down my favorite! Not only is there tremendous growth from the author, but you become so incredibly invested in each of the characters. The vivid picture the author brings you will have your mind wandering all over the place wondering if places like this really exist and if so how can I get there asap! The character interaction is at an all time high and I found myself more engaged with them, laughing, rolling my eyes in a good way, and feeling like I finally got to really know them and fully embrace them. There is a lot of action which I felt was portrayed so detailed and realistic. I could see this story playing out in my mind as if I was watching a movie, which made it that much more exciting for me. The author brought back a lot of our favorite characters from previous books and a few surprises along the way. If you liked the first two you will fall in LOVE with this one. It is a true epic fantasy and that’s coming from a gal who doesn’t often pick up fantasy books.

Neither one of them wants or desires a romance or the commitment that lies in the waiting. There you have it! No Spoilers! That is all I needed to read this suspenseful romance. The story is fast paced and keeps you reading until the very end. Leaving you wanting so much more from this author and this new series. Every emotion will be brought forth in this story.
