I absolutely love books that involve bookstores and this is one of the best that I have read. Although the book contains three separate stories; they are all connected. I loved the themes of friendship and thriving in spite of setbacks. The stories are well-written and entertaining. The book is heart-warming and fun. The Happily Ever After Bookstore was truly a delight to read.

This is a super cute, very short read that focuses on thankfulness. It includes some ways that readers can be thankful and show that to others. It also contains an activity to help children remain thankful.

This is a lovely romance story. Ellawyn is a woman running from her former life with her abusive ex-boyfriend. She starts a new life in Quimby Grove and spends her days in a quaint bookstore cafe. She forms a beautiful friendship with the owner and develops a relationship with his grandson Beckett. This book was beautifully written and very sweet. I really enjoyed the progression of the relationship between Ellie and Beckett. I also adored the friendship between her and Benji. This book has enough drama to keep you interested but there is still a lot of romance. Romance in a small town is where it’s at. A wonderful read!

One of my favorite villainesses, I’ve always found the idea of the Queen of Hearts interesting, but I loved seeing the author transform the character in this way! A woman who’s familiar with the deceit of men, Mimi has risen above and beyond the usual call of revenge. Wonderfully dark and well-written, the plot thickens with this delightfully twisted tale of the Queen of Hearts. Even though the story was short and fast-paced, I feel like it was full of life and had plenty of mystery and intrigue. I’ve never read any of the other books from this series, but I’ll definitely be looking into them after reading this one, as well as more books from the author!

I think this is a great book to teach children how to deal with their feelings. It is hard for children to express how they feel maybe even harder for children who are adopted. It is normal fir them to imagine how their life may have been with their birth parents. The language is simple enough for young children to understand. The book normalizes the feelings that children who are adopted struggle with. I think this is a great read for children who are in this situation.

I started reading this book with high expectations since I absolutely loved the first one of the series. Let me just say that the author did not disappoint!
You once again follow Julia except this time it is 70 years later than in the first book. The Ka-tet is as strong as it should be with their powers ever growing when Valentino decides to show up and take them all down. Samuel and Julia fear they have not had enough time to get strong enough to defeat Valentino so they decide to flee. That did not work so now the Ka-tet has to fight a very strong Valentino with little faith.
I honestly love this author’s writing. It is so dark and unpredictable. The book has a lot of action as well as twists and turns to keep you intrigued from start to finish. There is some romance and some heartbreak. What’s not to love? I highly recommend this series. Do read the first one before attempting this one though as it will be hard to follow without knowing the backstory.

I can’t believe this is a debut book for this author!! The characters, the writing, and the details had me hooked from page one. I want to go find my own Quimby Grove, Starlight, and even Beckett. The small-town charm of Quimby Grove made me feel like I was in the middle of a Hallmark movie with a twist of mystery. This book was amazing!! Ellawyn is running away from her former life in Maine, everything she grew up with. But she must do this to protect herself. Settling in the small town of Quimby Grove, Ellawyn finds herself drawn to Starlight bookstore and even the owner Benji. Keeping to herself, Ellawyn spends all day at the bookstore just trying to keep herself safe. Benji calls upon his grandson for help when things take a turn for the worse. Benji is the only family Beckett has so when Benji needed him it was a no-brainer to head back to Quimby to help take care of him and the bookstore. What Beckett never had in mind was meeting Ellawyn. It was hard at first since she was not quick to open up but Beckett was there for the long haul to take care of Benji so he was patient. This book definitely has a dark turn of events but it will have you on the edge of your seat, laughing, biting your nails in suspense, and even crying!! Can’t wait to see what came next for this talented author.

This is a brilliant conclusion to this series and easily my favourite book of them all. And while I didn’t want to see the series end this was definitely the perfect way to do so. I was pulled straight back into the story right from Page 1. The story is so well written and ready to imagine that could it really does feel like you are there. I would highly recommend this entire series to anyone and I am already looking forward to reading it again.

I was a little unsure what to expect going in to this book – the description didn’t particularly grab me but the reviews were all good. I am so glad I gave it a go. This was a refreshingly unique read. It isn’t often you get a female lead as strong and fiesty as Sera. It was so easy get pulled in by her. It felt like the whole story centred around her. The story was well written. It was exciting and engaging. I found myself swept up by what was happening and the chemistry between the characters. This is a great book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I enjoyed reading this book. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites yet. This is the sixth and final book of the series. I highly suggest reading the previous books to help your enhancement of this series and the characters. This is a well written story that has characters that took me on an adventure full of action. I enjoyed being pulled into the story from the beginning. I found this to be a fast paced, engaging story where the characters brought the story to life which had me coming back for more. There is great growth of the plot and characters throughout the story. This is a series you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait to see what is next for this author. Her writing skills bring so much to her stories that they are hard to put down. I highly recommend this book and this author.

This is another cute kid’s book. The science featured in this book includes the forms of matter. As a teacher, I love books like these for my students. These are great for teaching younger kids science in a new way. This is not the first Science Mermaid book I have read, and I have loved each and every one of them so far!
Just because you make it home from the battlefield does not mean the war is over. While this particular solider may be fiction his story is just one example of the horrors and struggles one with PTSD may face. Patchen brings this story to life in a way that makes your heart strings pull, your eyes water, and has your mind struggling to process. In the story, Sgt. JP Grimm has physically returned from war, but in many ways he is still in that desert. Grimm struggles to mentally. He plays what if, if I had done this differently, self loathes, struggles with survivors guilt as well as adapting back to home life. One moment he is home then with one sound, shadow, movement, he is right back in the war. The struggles faced as a result of his PTSD affect more than himself. It influences relationships with family, friends and himself. Self medicating is just one of the ways Grimm attempts to cope. Will he get the help and support he needs? Or just me another example of the glaring lack of support faced?
Hands down this story is worth reading. It is a well thought out, realistic glimpse into just one of the many common contributors to PTSD. The thought provoking story line that puts you through the ringer. Patchen did an amazing job bringing the characters to life. While it did take me a moment to get into the story once I was in, I was in. This book brings more light to the issues many people still face today.

I have to say that these books are brilliant for teaching younger children science. I think that the author has done a wonderful job of creating a fun way to help kids learn. The characters are well written and the whole story breaks down science for kids and makes it fun. I would definitely get this if I had younger children.
This is the first-time reading, Lang Johnson; Devil’s Breath is a great read. Sera and Cassius have a love story that you aren’t sure how it’s going to end. Sera is a strong female main character. She is strong, sexy, and an assassin to top it off. Cassius is a rich smart man. He is a strong male character to match Sera. If you are looking for a great romantic action-packed thriller this is the book for you. I can’t wait to see what Lang Johnson puts out next.

This is the first book by Carmen Radtke that I have read, but it was so well written that it definitely won’t be my last read from her. She is a master with storytelling and weaved together a story full of mystery, love, angst, and grace. Alyssa Chalmers is a kind heroine who throughout the story charms readers with her elegance and wit. The story is set in 1862 and has all the allure of a historical setting, so much so that I dreamed I was living in the height of the 19th century.
The women of Australia who were bound for Canada have more than just men waiting for them. The story quickly takes off and shows how crafty and cunning people can be even in the past. To avoid giving away any spoilers I’ll just let you know that the mystery in this story is well worth the read and will have you on the edge of your seat until the very last page.

Premeditated was a wonderful read full of twists and turns. Although I didn’t read the 1st book in the series it was easy to follow along with all of the characters and their storylines. It has been a while since I’ve read a Christian mystery book and I must say that this book had all of the elements that make for a great read: suspense, mystery, charm, character development, and even scriptures.
I won’t post any spoilers because the whole fun in a good mystery book is discovering things along the way and hoping to figure it out before it is revealed. I was able to figure out what the twist in the story was just before it was revealed and then I spent about 30 minutes in disbelief hoping both the author and I were wrong.
The epilogue was a beautifully poetic ending to the story and I’m looking forward to reading the 1st story for more of a background on the characters that I have grown to know and love these last few days.
If you are looking for a delightful and suspenseful read then by all means read the agents of justice books, you won’t be disappointed.

Jake goes about his trail as he does everyday, when he comes across new feet marks in his trail. His friends come over the next day to help him discover what these marks are. As they go about the trail, they find the prints, and it’s their other friend Tucker! He is a 3 legged dog, it scares Jake at first and he says sorry to Tucker for being scared of him. It’s a great lesson for children to never judge anyone about any disabilities. Was a really cute book.

This is the 6th book in the Lord Hani Mysteries and once again I was captured and transported with this story. I am a great lover of Ancient Egypt and have read many books and taken courses on the subject. One of the main reason I love these books so much is the author’s attention to details and the historical facts. During these books I literally see and feel Ancient Egypt come alive.
We are back with Lord Hani. Once again he is on a dangerous mission. He is sent by the Queen to get a Hittite bridegroom to make her position safer and to also build bridges between the two tribes. However their are people who are opposed to this union. Namely Ay who wants to make sure the throne goes to his family and will stop at nothing to make that happen. So Hani is on a hard mission. Trying to win over enemies and also fighting against people of Egypt as well. Can he succeed at all or will this bring Egypt to war with itself and bringing it down to its knees once and for all? There are so many twists and turns along the way and even though I know the historical story about the Queen and her quest for a Prince the author does an amazing job of writing a mystery around it without taking away from the historical events.

This book was such a lovely read, I really did enjoy every single minute of it. I loved how it was three stories but they were all interconnecting – they really were an absolute joy to read. I think from the title it’s obvious the bookstore is the centre for all of these stories but each one slightly different in its own way. I loved all of the characters, they were so relatable and it felt like I was reading about friends at times. There is one thing for sure with this book it definitely left me smiling once I had finished. This is definitely a book you can settle down with on a summer evening and enjoy – it is one that I would highly recommend!

We meet Leona, the local bookstore owner and incorrigible matchmaker who takes it upon herself to match up the locals- but she isn’t quite so lucky finding her own ‘happily-ever-after. With a well-meaning meddling matchmaker, second chances, new love, finding love unexpectedly, endearing characters, and a ‘feel-good’ story definitely made this one of my favourite reads by Bernadette Marie. The Prospect of Death is the second book in the Alyssa Chalmers Mysteries series by Carmen Radtke. The story is a well-woven historical cozy mystery, a bit of a ‘whodunit’ set in the 1862 gold rush in British Colombia. With plenty of danger, some crime & investigation, a smallpox epidemic, mail-order brides, secrets and – a devious and dangerous adversary to contend with. Alyssa is part of the group of brides who arrive to the gold-mining town only to embroiled in a murder investigation. She teams up with some locals to try to uncover the murderer and get to the bottom of the mystery- but things may not be quite so simple. Even though this is the second book in the series, it can definitely be read as a standalone, without feeling like you are missing any details. In saying that, though, I will be hunting down the first book to explore before continuing this series. A great little mystery.

Wow. This book was unexpectedly so good! Morning is a single woman in her 30’s and a nurse and the Emergency Center. She experiences a traumatic event and ends up with unbelievable abilities. She has 3 friends and a dog, he’s an English bull dog at that. She prefers tea over coffee and lives like a bachelor when it comes to keeping her fridge stocked and knowing how to really cook. She meets Caleb as well the new doc on the “block. The story is based in Michigan and is funny, cute, thrilling and sweet all in one. It kept me engaged for sure!

I have read and enjoyed each book in this series, and was looking forward to this instalment, and I was definitely not disappointed. The adventures of Egyptian diplomat Hani continued, and as usual I was hooked from page one. I would personally recommend reading the books in order, so that you know Hani’s backstory. In book six, Hani has to secretly obtain a Hittite bridegroom for Queen Meryet-amen, but Ay and the faction behind Prince Tut-ankh-aten are opposed, and willing to turn to violence. The death of an artisan appears to be connected to Ay, and his determination to see his grandson on the throne. When another death brings Egypt to the brink of war Hani’s diplomatic skills are thoroughly tested. As usual the wonderfully written storyline had me gripped and the plot twists kept me guessing. The descriptive narrative and historical details brought the setting and era vividly to life, and I felt immersed in Hani’s world. After six books I feel like Hani is an old friend, and I enjoyed being with him working out one last mystery, as sadly this is the final book in ‘The Lord Hani Mysteries’ series. I will miss Hani, he’s a great character and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the whole series, as each book has been a real page turner. This was an enjoyable and engaging read, which kept me happily turning the pages well into the night!

It is an original story- a vampire saga with wonderful atmospheric world building, the paranormal, danger, politics, agendas, dramatic developments, intrigue, interesting characters, layers, and emotion. This is set seventy years after the event of Book One, so I recommend reading the first book before diving into this instalment. Julia’s life has remained fairly undisturbed during this time while her abilities continued to strengthen. But fate has more in store for her now as new danger threatens. Fleeing is no longer an option- with no choice but to stand and fight Julia will need to confront more than just the powerful enemy. What ensues makes for some intense reading. If you love an original take on a vampire story, paranormal elements, emotion, and intrigue- then this is definitely the book/series for you. Bring on Book #3! Happy reading!

No Pistol Tastes the Same by Jacob Paul Patchen is a book that has stayed with me long-after finishing the final page. It is a though-provoking, and at times, confronting story that takes us into the mind of former marine, JP Grimm who suffers from PTSD from a mission-gone-wrong that saw his lose his brothers-in-arms. He grapples with survivors’ guilt and incredible shame- feeling like he’s to blame for not taking aim to prevent the blast that took their lives. Being on home soil again hasn’t eased his struggles, which not only takes a massive toll on him, but also his small family. The story takes us on a journey with JP as he wrestles with the demons that weigh heavy on his soul. Add to this poignant story danger from an impending disaster- and Mr. Patchen delivers a hard-hitting and gripping read. Emotive!

Pilot Who Knows the Waters is the sixth book in The Lord Hani Mysteries by N.L Holmes. We set off on another danger-laced adventure with Hani as he navigates the politics, diplomatic issues, royal protocols, and the societal expectations of these ancient times (1335BCE)- all while juggling important responsibilities. I have loved Hani from the moment we met him back in book one, and I can’t believe we are now six books into this fabulous series- the series definitely gets better with each new release. This is an historical cozy mystery, set in ancient Egypt (1335BCE)- and as I have come to expect from Ms. Holmes, the story is woven with wonderfully rich historical details, texture, depth, interesting characters, intrigue, agendas, plots, emotion, and dramatic developments which made for a great read.
