The Prospect of Death (Alyssa Chalmers mysteries, #2)The Prospect of Death by Carmen Radtke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Alyssa Chalmers is the one girl from the long journey that is not wanting a man to claim her hand. All the other girls from Australia cannot wait to get married, Alyssa just wants to go home. They all arrive in a little town and some of the girls find what they believe to be their “happily ever after.” All is well, until a smallpox outbreak occurs, and no one can leave the town. On top of being quarantined to one place, Bert, the manager of the hotel, is found to be murdered. The men believe it to be one of the girls who have recently arrived. Alyssa is on the scene to prove them wrong. She is careful and cunning, she will stop at nothing to make sure her friend is proven innocent. What can go wrong in such a normally peaceful town, where everyone is now trapped there with a murderer?
This book takes you back in time and is such a fun read.
