What a sweet and enjoyable read this turned out to be. I was a bit concerned that I wouldn’t connect with the story when I realised it was the 7th book in the series but it wasn’t something I needed to worry about. It can easily be read as a standalone and was a great and entertaining story to read. I thought the characters were likeable from the start. They had such a sweet connection that you couldn’t help but want them to make things work. The story was quite a quick and easy read. I engaged with it no problem and was carried along by what was happening. It was great to see the relationship develop as the book went on. This was a great book and I will be checking out more of the series.

This is a great story written by two clearly talented authors. The characters have been put front and centre of this book, with their story and development being what it is all about. The overall storyline feels like it is there to support and compliment them and to make you, as the reader, engage with them. This is the first time I have a read a book by these authors and I enjoyed the collaboration. The book flowed well, seamlessly moving through the story. You couldn’t tell who had written which part of the book and I enjoyed that. it kept the pace of the book and didn’t break your connection. This was an enjoyable story and I look forward to discovering more of their work.

Grave Digger Academy by C.A. King is a fun, fast paced, ya, paranormal read that you don’t want to miss. This series gives you a Harry Potteresque feel as you learn magic with the witch, Makayla and her unique friends.
When Makayla gets denied by her top three paranormal academies she is sent to the academy that no one wants, GraveDigger Academy. It’s here she meets a unique group of individuals, some who become friends while others are better left as enemies. Makayla faces a lot of unique twists, turns, and challenges in this book.
Personally I loved being immersed in this new world of magic. This series has everything you want in a ya paranormal book such as: action, humor, interesting characters, great world building, and an interesting storyline. I’m really glad I found this book and I can’t wait to read the rest of this series.

True Colors by K. R. Raye is the final installment in The Colors Trilogy. I truly had so many moments of “oh my gosh” in this book that I lost count. I mean, I had JUST started the book and I was already sad! And then there was an attack that left me with my mouth open just staring at the book. So much happened in this book between all the lives lost and the new ones coming. All of the crazy twists that these friends have experienced. I am so happy they each got their happily ever after. This was a fantastic series and I’m sad it’s over.

The Colors of Love by K. R. Raye is book two in The Colors Trilogy. Wow this one was full of sooooo many surprises, secrets and crazy happenings! And just when I thought the book was almost over, I’m only 44% of the way done?! Hello what more can happen!? Melody’s rant toward Imani was perfection. I loved every word. Between all of the friends getting their own chapter it seemed, there was so much development. It sometimes became hard to keep up but because it all ties together it does come back around. I am so rooting for Lance. He is turning into a better guy although he does still have his moments. The love this trio of friends has for one another is so obvious and I am here for it.

The Colors of Friendship by K. R. Raye is book one in The Colors Trilogy. I took a chance on this book and overall I did enjoy it. Some of this was hard to read and not necessarily because of content. There seemed to be too many parts of the story. Too many different peoples voices to read about. I wasn’t sure whose story this was supposed to be or the trio as a whole. I did like that you seemed to get the full picture if what was happening but just felt like too many voices. I really liked Imani, she was the perfect best friend. Though their friendships seemed a little weird for only knowing one another a short time, I think back to my own freshman year of college and absolutely bonded with a “random” guy on the first day and we are still friends to this day. So the story felt realistic. And shoot I wasn’t expecting that ending! What a cliffhanger! I cannot wait to read book two!

I was totally excited to pick up this book and it did not disappoint. El (Melodie) and Wil are a perfect match. El is the daughter of a very famous rock star and all she wants is to sing. El love everything music….but her parents, especially her father, are very over protected especially from the paparazzi and limelight. At first Wil has a secret agenda…..and the plan starts to work in his favor until he meets and gets to know the “real” El (Melodie). Wil and El team up when El needs a guitarist last minute and they have an instant connection in both music and heart. Once secrets and lies about a past come to light..Wil and El are tested….
This story is fantastic…..and I did not want it to end. The story just flowed, even though it was a slow burn, every piece came to life. Secret agenda, lies, paparazzi, disguises, and the spark between Wil and El …..I am already looking forward to seeing where Wil and El’s next step in their journey in music, life and love end up next!

Notebook Mysteries ~ Haunted Christmas by Kimberly Mullins
This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. I love every book in the series so far. Each book gets better and Emma does what she does best. She solves mysteries. Haunted Christmas is the fifth book in the Notebook Mysteries Series.
Emma is back with her team. She’s still working for the bakery and as a courier. When a co-worker needs her help she does it. The quote I chose for Emma is: “Something has put this notion in his head. He’s coming over tonight to review the case with us. He’ll be here at eight. I think we should hear him out and take him seriously. I don’t want him to feel we are making fun of him.”
Grave Digger Academy is a fun YA fantasy novel. It’s perfect for fans of magic boarding schools! This story sees Makayla failing to live up to the expectations of her parents and older brothers, but finding her own place and path in the world. There’s a fun cast of characters! Makayla soon gets to know classmates such as Thomas, Cali and Leo who are united by not having applied to Grave Digger Academy but ending up there anyway. And there are the teachers, such as Tallen, Ms Moth, and Ms Dred. Makayla’s never had much talent for getting on with people, and has to learn to make friends and work with others. The world building is lovely – the school is very well described as Makayla arrives and gets to know it, and it’s so atmospheric and captivating! I really felt like I’d been transported to a new and magical world – so much food for the imagination! This book gets five stars from me! I’d recommend it to confident teen readers and young adults who’ve enjoyed magic school books in the past such as the Children of the Red King series and are looking for something new to fall in love with.

The only downside of a novella is that it leaves you wanting more! I loved The Christmas Carol nod in this story.
I loved how everyone on her team was involved with this case. How each of them expressed their concerns at various times. The fact that some of the help was trying to keep a secret, and had managed to for so many years just to protect Ethan. Family will protect family, which shows a lot in this story not just with Ethan but with Emma and her family.

I love that this book concentrates on some personal details of Emma. Plus bringing some babies into their family. Emma has to divulge a secret to those closest to her in this book.
She also has to face her past yet again, but with the help of Jeremy she is able to not do it face to face or be involved in that side of the adventure.
Tony reaching out to her for help means the world to her. Shows that they can work together and be friends again as well. Especially when she told him about the case Jeremy was working on when he put her on the ship. That even made me laugh because we all know after this far into the series that was the only way that was going to play out!
I was so happy with how this particular book turned out. How the family all came together and even brought in more. Emma seems to add to her team with a variety of people each and every story and then they become “family”.

This is the second story in the Notebook mysteries and was such a great continuance of Emma’s story. She travels to NYC in this book, helps women get jobs outside of the home (that was largely frowned upon in the time period this series is based in), and solved several cases. She even flipped the script on a kid and set him off to the right path!
The boom brought the ending of a relationship for Emma but started a new one. Added a baby that was named after Dora and Emma’s late mother into the family.
My favorite parts were the setups they did to catch people! Not just Emma either! Even finding out she was working with someone involved with the case she was trying to solve! I knew when she started getting more responsibilities that something was in the works there.
Helping a women’s shelter, which broke my heart that someone would lie and risk the lives of other women like that!
I’m excited to see what Emma does with her reward monies and where the story takes her next!

My heart hurt for Emma learning exactly how and why her mom died. You can tell this family is tight knit and that they’d do anything for each other. I love the happy ending to her last case she was involved in. With Emma and Dora both finding closeness again with that case bringing them together. Even Tim and Tony being such a huge part of their lives and becoming family in the process.
Finding the newspaper articles from her mom, I knew something fishy was going on when the writer pushed her out of his office without giving her anything.
I was relieved when the “watcher ” was revealed and it was someone who was protecting her from the same people that hurt her mom. She is very aware of everything and I loved how she made and left baskets of food for her “watcher”. Like he thought he was all sneaky and not being seen.
Since I did read these out of order I am glad this book gave some back story that I was missing out on from reading a later book first.
This is such a great series to read to suck you into the mysteries of Emma’s life. I also loved on this one how the “narrator and Dear One” chime in with some input to give more back story when needed.

This book was a must read in my books, I love how the story was told. We really got to see through the eyes of living in fame. The book was eye opening at moments, enjoyed the depth in which it went.
Personally I loved how Melodie was the one who told the story. You got to understand her, feel her emotions, when she was happy or when she felt pained and alone. To me that was deep and meaningful and I enjoyed that aspect. I loved how Music was Incorporated into the story as much as it was. Really well with the story and the characters. I enjoyed Will as a character as well. Him and Melanie were adorable. Things were not easy though, there was good as well as not so great moments. I loved how the story went the author certainly has a way with their writing! I was very much intrigued all the way through. I very much cannot wait to read book 2, with the cliff hanger that happened! I very much loved this book and its contents.
Great read. Deep and full of intrigue, and its own brand of cuteness with the characters. Eye opening. Must read the author as well for sure. Must read book. Highly recommend this author and book without a doubt!

This was definitely a story of redemption. Rock is trying to find his place in the world now that everything has happened. Becca is just trying to survive. The narrators did an amazing job bringing this story to life. I’m definitely going to read the rest of the books in this series.

I really enjoyed this story. I like the fact that the story is told from the point of view of El (Melodie) and Wil. It really helps the story have more depth and it wasn’t done in a way that made the story confusing to read. The main aspect of this book is music and the passion surrounding it. There are a lot of secrets and lies to uncover and unravel as the story progresses and when each is revealed it brings more insight into our characters.
El is the step daughter of a famous rockstar. Her dream is to make it in the music business off her own talent. El loves music and really wants to make it her life but with her over protective mother and step- father everytime she tries they always seem to destroy her dream. Wil moves to Amercia to find his dad. He knows he is a famous rockstar. So he moves to America under the disguse of being part of a show but with hopes of finding his dad.
When Wil and El meet in a bar Wil steps in to help her after she is let down. After singing together they start to get closer and their chemistry is intense. But there are secrets that will be revealed which will cause heartbreak for one or both of them.
What is the secret which will change their lives? Will El ever get her music career off the ground or will her parents continue to stop her? Will Wil ever find his father and what will be the outcome if he does?
This books is a beautiful story to read. The romance is slow blooming and captivatingly written. I literally got lost in El and Wil’s story and didn’t want it to end.

Makayla applies to several schools and hopes to be picked for the school she really wanted to attend. Unfortunately, she gets accepted into Grave Digger Academy, the school where no one wants to attend.
She faces the school year not only with the disappointment of her family hanging over her but she must also face it by herself.
Not much excitement concerning the curriculum with it mostly consisting of spells needed to ensure that the dead stay dead. But Makayla soon finds out secrets involving her family.
The title of this caught my attention. It just seems different from other Young Adult novels. A school where students learn spells to guarantee that the decrease stays that way? I am a sucker for novels set in schools. It just gives me this gothic vibe.
I really like Makayla as a protagonist, especially her optimism. I look forward to reading how she grows as a character.
This is a short read but it definitely leaves me wanting to know more. I saw there were two other novels in this series so I am excited to start them.

I almost didn’t pick this one up to read but thought, why not? I’m so glad I took a chance on it!
It’s Makayla’s first year to attend academy and she spent some time choosing her top 3 picks, just like all witches get to do when they come of age. Her picks are in and she waits but hears nothing prior to the start of school. She wakes up late and misses her ride so she’s doomed to take the bus. No one but losers ride the bus the school! She arrives at the door to the academy but isn’t sure which specific realm she’s assigned to. She quickly learns that she has to learn everything for herself. She’s from a strong family of witches who’ve been accepted to the best and most prestigious schools so she has high hopes.
Makayla soon learns that she didn’t get any of her top 3 choices, so the only other option was an assignment to the Grave Digger Academy. NO ONE applied or wanted the Grave Digger Academy and just wait until her dad hears about this…..her life is over!! Things start to come to light and Makayla begins learning more about her family, along with the mysterious amulet her mother gave her shortly before boarding the bus. Will she survive her first year? Even better, what about summer vacation after her first year?
This was a super fun read. There are elements of comedy (I laughed many times!), romance (very subtle), and paranormal activity. It is a very well written story that kept my attention throughout. I look forward to reading more books in this series!

This book is the first book in the Philly Heat Series, but can be read as a stand alone. The book is about Kylee and Jayson and their journey together. It begins when they are in high school and picks up in present day. Kylee always had a crush on Jayson, but she thought he blew their bet off in high school. Years later she finds out the real truth on what really happened and why he never showed up. When things start going well between them now, Jayson leaves out of the blue, only to return years later to try to rekindle the relationship and explain why he left. When things start coming together again, they face another crises, this one together. I could not put this book down. It had romance, suspense and somewhat of a thriller all in one. It was a great read!

Reader’s Thoughts: This is my second time reading a novel by Willa Drew. I was immediately sucked in and couldn’t put this one down. From the bodyguards and paparazzi to the secrets and lies and the strong family ties, this story had my heart singing for more. Mel’s constant reference to everything music put a sweet touch on this novel. With Mel and Wil’s (WE) cute banter I couldn’t help but adore their slow burn relationship. I was pleased that this novel was not overly mushy, and the relationship was so pure in more ways than one. We Blend is the first installment of the Falling for the Rockstar’s Daughter Series. After the cliffhanger at the end, I can’t wait for We Breathe to be released next year.

Secrets, music and a budding romance This was an engaging read and had me staying up way into the night as I could not put it down. The whole way along we are treated to an insight into El’s life as a child of a rockstar and Will’s complex life lined with secrets. I love the dual POV as it gives the story so much depth. The layering of the story is brilliantly executed and there is the right balance of tension and tender moments. Warning there is a cliffhanger at the end leaving the perfect opening to book 2.

There’s a reason people don’t believe in monsters and it’s not because they don’t exist!! Boy are you in for a treat with this set!! I am LOVING it!! I could totally see this set put into a movie!! And if it ever does, know I will be watching it asap!! Anyways, to the book!! This is Makayla’s second year in the paranormal academy system. THANKFULLY, she doesn’t have to ride the bus the first day and her brothers can drive her. After finding out last year that she wouldn’t be going to any other school, because she’s being watched, she must make the best of it. She doesn’t know what is in store for her that year until her and her class are called back early. Thinking that she will get some time in the local village she’s excited to get there. Boy is her first day, yet AGAIN, an adventure though!! Maybe she’s seeing things, but getting to the library is strange. With the one and only transfer position withheld last year, she has all the same classmates, so they meet up on the way. Maybe they won’t be separated this year. Maybe classes will go back to normal. Hopefully?? Upon arriving at the school they learn about some changes, good and bad. But at least they are letting her have a bit more freedom! Which is good because the school is participating in an academy competition with the other schools and she can use all the help she can! If they can win they can bring some desperately needed funding and prestige back to the once sought after school, but if they lose the school could close down forever! Then what would happen to her?! No one WANTS to go to Grave Digger Academy anymore. Most are thrown into it like Makayla, without any say in the matter. So if she is kicked out of the one place that took her she dreads what might come next!! But she is determined to save the school, learn as much magic as she can, and find out more about her family history and all the weird things that seem to be attracted to her! But something is off about the competition and the map. The map changes after the competition is already under way. There was to be no interference and no one is allowed on the map except the competitors and their helpers if they choose to bring them. When their own shovels in their back yard throw her in the wrong direction she knows something is up. Will she help win the competition and in turn help save the school? Where is this shovel taking her?! Why does it always have to happen to her?? Makayla is out of options and must do something desperate to not only save herself, but the school. Will her plan backfire and in turn everything burn down around her? And who is messing with not only her, but the competition?! Man oh man I can’t wait to read the rest of this set! I am invested to see what happens next!! You COULD read this book alone, BUT I wouldn’t recommend it. Some stuff happens in the first book that is referenced in this book and you will be a bit lost. Anyways, grab this book (and the others!) and unearth the mysteries to the Grave Digger Academy!

Master Romano: Dark Vampire Romance is a vampire romance – the 4th book in the author’s series. Master Romano is a vampire who is the “leader” of vampires in the Romania area. He is said to be a “dark-souled beast”. He is under investigation by the head Master of Vampires because they have come to find out that a loyal confidant has gone rogue and they need to understand if Romano is behind it. Romano has stated that he is innocent in all of this, but will help find out what is going on because he is being set up. When arriving home, he encounters a witch named Raven, and witches and vampires have been long- time enemies. However, Raven (even though slightly scared due to the legends of the vampires) and Romano (even though states to not trust witches) feels something different, an energy, a connection that neither understands. However, not growing up in the witch world, Raven tends to be creative, defiant, and curiosity always gets the better of her. Their first meeting is very short since Raven transports herself out of danger, however they meet again at a local bar that both tend to be patroning. The “come get me eyes” are being projected by both of them, but are cut off when her aunt and sister enter the bar to take her back to their haven. In the midst of this event, other vampire and vampire confidants come in and grab the 3 witches. Romano has a bad feeling about this and ends up saving Raven even though it went against his better judgment. This encounter starts an alliance between the two and a budding romance. Can the two of them work together well enough, trust each other enough, to save her family and his reputation in the vampire world? I have read the entire series thus far and I love this vampire romance. Romano was a great character. Even though he is stated to be an evil beast, I found him to be burly, but with a sweet, loving, and understanding side to him, as well. He is portrayed as a leader, smart, cunning, protective, but also cautious, at the same time. Raven was also a great compliment to his burliness. She is spunky, smart, witty, playful, and comically could stand up to Romano. I loved their dynamic when it came to the romantic part of their relationship. I am not a “let it build up” type of book lover, so when they just let all their feelings out almost upfront at the beginning, I was there for that. This was a quick read, action filled, a twisty plot, with great characters. I am excited for the last book in the series to come out!

I loved the underlying lesson in this book. Ultimately persistence pays off.
Read this with Miss 12 as it’s a lesson that she needs to learn too. She loved the illustrations and the style. It’s rare for her to read a book from start to finish but she really enjoyed this one.
