Malayeka is the third book in the Heartstrings series by Brooke May. This author is one of my go authors and this series is a really good one! If you’re looking for a funny, romantic adventure, this book fits the bill. We are in the cupid universe and we travel along with them as they complete assignments. I enjoyed Malayeka’s story and I think this one has been my favorite of the series! I am looking forward to reading more by this author in the future! Happy Reading!

This is a cute quirky rom com book that is very easy to read in one sitting. This series is about the cupid’s of the world and bringing love to those entrusted to them. Seems easy enough yet when Mala makes one mistake it impacts the fate of two clans for several generations.
With her positive outlook on life and willingness to make things right Mala seeks out to right her wrong from many years ago. Though now it involves shotgun wielding grandpas and a town literally torn into two(kind of reminiscent of the Hatfield’s and McCoy’s). Can Mala help Billie and Leo find their own path and finally extinguish this age old war? Or are they destined to follow in their families footsteps and be torn apart just another casualty of this drama?
This really was an easy book to read, and super fast at that. If you like romantic comedies with a paranormal twist and a few wrong turns along the way then you should definitely give this book a shot. You never know when the book you take a chance on could change your day!

The Rom-Com Movie Club was an entertaining and fun book to read. It’s quirky, full of humor, happiness, sadness, and some tears. The author makes you feel it as if you were the character. Well some feelings. The Bridezilla best friend, yeah I didn’t feel that, but mostly the things everyone else went through yeah. Lisa is a lost soul, who doesn’t really know what true love is. Growing up in the foster system she moved constantly and as well as had a new family, it became easier to be alone. And it worked for sometime till she met the 3 women who have since become her family. Best friends who meet once a month to have a rom-com movie/sleepover. What happens when someone enters her life that doesn’t want to leave? Ryan just moved home and his brother is getting married. Jilted on more than one occasion, the hopeless romantic in Ryan hasn’t given up just yet. When he meets Lisa for the first time, he knows she’s special. He can’t keep his eyes off her, but he’s been warned to stay away. Now that he can. Will Ryan heed the warning to stay away? Will Lisa let him in? These two have been through some things, things that could keep them together or tear them apart. The character growth that is written throughout for Lisa and even maybe for the bride to be Bridzilla. It’s phenomenal what the author did with these characters. I feel maybe another story for these friends now that Lisa’s brother is moving home. I can only hope. Till then check this book out!

This story is a unique twist on the time travel plot. I like the mention of the original 1960’s version of the time machine. The historical references were enjoyable and kept the pages turning. The characters and the adventures they go on while trying to alter events important to them, drive the plot effortlessly forward. I wanted to know what happened next and couldn’t put the book down. This is a quick read that has suspense, revenge, and a bit of magic.
Ivy believes that her husband is cheating on her…and that’s the crack that begins to shatter their relationship. What follows is acts of revenge that eventually lead to murder. However, that doesn’t seem to be the end…instead, it seems as though it is the beginning…again.
I read this story in less than 10 minutes. I was confused as to the extremes these two were going to in the name of revenge…but it became apparent at the end. After I finished, the whole story made sense. Overall, it was a good story that I enjoyed reading.
This book is so timely for thanks giving. Albert is a Turkey at a Turkey farm and a family comes to purchase Turkey for Thanks giving. Albert knows from the television that the president has just pardoned a Turkey and wishes that this family pardons him too. He tries to be kind and flaunts his feathers. Then the family come together to vote for a very important consensus , to pardon the turkey or not. This is a very timely book, and I really enjoyed it. The illustrations are bright, vivid and colorful and the message is nicely passed. Hope there are more such books which promote animal love.
A great book for middle school readers. Gwendolyn is a dream-shifter, she transforms into any animal when she is asleep but turns back into her human form as long as she isn’t startled awake. One night a fire at Gwendolyn’s home startled her and she finds herself stuck being an elk.
The book is well written and I liked it. It has suspense, action, the shape shifting by the main character, and so muck more. I’m looking forward to hearing what my son thinks of the book. I’m sure I would have enjoyed this book when I was in middle school.

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. My daughter absolutely loved this book. Any book about animals always catch her attention. Lucas the Spy Cat is part of the Jake the Growling Dog Series.
Lucas’s owners decide to put a spy camera on his collar to see what he gets up to at night. They make up all kinds of situations their cat may get into. There wasn’t a quote I could choose for anyone, but I can say that they get surprised at the end.

This was a good start for a first book. The end of the world has happened and there are many casualties. That happened a millennia ago. The reader is thrust upon an Earth where many bloodlines are blurred together. Raine is a shadow guardian to protect the non-magical humans. She is assigned to look for the latest killer, but this one is different than any she’s faced before. Its much more powerful then what she’s used to. When she saves Will she is assigned to help a killer. Is the killer one and same? And what of this prophecy that includes the both of them? So many questions and so many answers! I loved reading this book and cant wait for the next ones to come out!

This was a really good book. The illustrations are very bright and vivid. My grandson loved Lucas. He asked so many questions wondering what Lucas did at night time when he was outside. All the different animals Lucas met made the story intriguing to a 3 year old. He was able to follow along. He loved that the girls used a spy camera like superheroes.

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. Malayeka is a fantastic read. I couldn’t put it down. This is the third book in A Heartstrings Series.
Malayeka is Cupid’s right hand woman. She is on the task of mending families. With romance and being a Cupid it’s hard. Can she do her job? The quote I chose for Malayeka is: “I’m Malayeka. I’m here for a job assignment and I saw your shop. I have a horrible sweet tooth.”

This was a very quick read and not one I would usually pick up, but I am glad that I did. I hadn’t heard of this author before, but I do enjoy the flow of this fictional story. I feel this was a great short read about the tearing of the veil and made easy to understand for anyone on any level of their religious journey. Samuel is a 13-year-old boy becoming a man and starting his training with a Jewish priest. They both witness an incredibly sacred moment of the veil ripping. It won’t take you long to get immersed and absorb this story, so pick it up and enjoy!
My son says 50 out of 5 stars, it was that good! He really enjoyed the reading but also the interactions at the end. He wants more. It’s an easy read that strikes the imagination.

I loved this book. I both laughed and cried. There was a lot to this story. Friendships, love, honesty, angst, trust, and stability. It pulled at my heart strings when I see the MC finally find their happy place and yet all the questions surrounding it. I recommend this book highly!

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. This is also the first book I’ve read like this. As I’m not much one for religion I found this book a fun read.
Samuel is getting ready to celebrate his thirteenth birthday. He has to give the speech and he’s looking forward to it. The quote I chose for Samuel is: “Rabbi Menechachen, I have enjoyed learning from you, and I thank you for the time you have spent teaching me. For this day, I have chosen my favorite passage from the ancient prophet, Isaiah. It speaks about a time when Yahweh will send someone who would be like a lamb slaughtered for the sins of Israel. It seemed appropriate to read this since my birthday is just before Passover, which is our celebration of Yahweh rescuing the Jews from the Egyptians. Each family had slaughtered a first-born male lamb without blemish and painted their doorway with its blood to protect them from the Angel of Death, so he would pass by their home.”
This book was a very interesting read about time travel. It has fantasy, sci-fi, drama, historical details, adventure, and the relationship between characters, and so much more all rolled into one that made it hard to put down. The way the author puts these thoughts on to paper and makes a story is just amazing. The details of each character really made for bringing the characters of this story into life. The detail into every scene and scenario made you really feel like you were in the book as while. I really enjoyed reading this book.

I always know I’m going to get a good read from this author. I enjoy this author’s writing style. I have read other books by this author and it’s always an adventure. This story drew me in from the start and kept me captivated. This book is full of action, danger, second chances, romance, wolf shifters, vampires and more. This is an original read that went by too fast. This was a quick but entertaining story, I couldn’t put down. I highly recommend this book.

Cute story with a little twist. Surprise, surprise, the fairest in the land is not actually the fairest. My 5yo son enjoyed this book. He was sad when he found out why the Queen was not the fairest. A nice lesson when we see both the dwarves eyes sparkling. Sometimes in an argument, both people can be right. Another fabulous children’s book by Lois Wickstrom.
An interesting leap into time travel. An advanced physics professor team’s up with his most promising student to make a time machine (using a prop from the 1960s time machine movie!) And successfully make a time machine. The student wants to right a wrong done to his native American Ancestors where as Professor Andy wants to fix his relationships and his broken heart. They explore the morality of changing time and it’s consequences. This book brings together Sci-Fi, historical fiction, fantasy and well developed characters into a quick but great time travel adventure. I also enjoyed all the quotes relating to time between chapters. Was a nice touch!.

This novel was not what I expected. Firstly, it took me an hour, maybe less, to read. It would probably take you longer to read the actual biblical version of the veil ripping than this novel will take you to read. Besides it being short, it was well written. With it being so short, I do not want to say too much because it is easy enough for you to pick up and read. It is also difficult to say anything without giving up the whole story.
The story is an interesting take on the story compared to the story in the Bible. If you believe you would enjoy something like that, this is the book for you. It really is short enough for anyone to read and enjoy.

What’s not to love about gunslingers and time travel? Like others have mentioned, I hope there is a sequel or maybe just a continuation or side novel. I enjoyed how details of the past were woven artfully into the story. I found myself thinking about if I could time travel – what would I do? Would I change my past? To me, the best books are the ones that you continue thinking about after you are done reading. Well worth the time to read!

Having read and enjoyed the previous two books in this series, I was looking forward to this third instalment, and I was not disappointed. Cupid Malayeka is assigned her next humans to help, and as eager as ever, Mala is happy to help. Unfortunately, she has met the Reids and the Thomsons before and it did not end well, in fact it has affected the clans ever since Mala helped two centuries ago, right up to the present day. However, she is determined that this time it will end differently for Billie and Leo, who are friends but have to keep it secret because they come from different families, who’s feud has divided a town. Despite having to deal with shotgun wielding Grandpas, Mala dose not want Billie and Leo to be destined to repeat history, and have an ill-fated love affair. If only the families could get over their hatred, and maybe the couple can lead the way, and give Mala a chance at redemption. This is a heartwarming secret/forbidden romance with a twist, in the form of Cupid. The characters are likeable and relatable and the storyline is entertaining and kept me happily turning the pages.

What’s more cozy than a Cupid ‘assistant’ trying to help their people find their love? This is a truly quirky rendition of a romance novel. Of course there’s also adventure, fun, and oopsie situations. Malayeka is adorable and spunky and she keeps trying even after failed attempts. I couldn’t put this book down because it was such a feel-good, quick paced novel!

Borrowed time is a story about scientists inventing a time machine using an old movie prop so that they can time travel. The reader travels through various time periods with the characters and are introduced to new characters in different times. It is a truly fascinating read as the characters are faced with moral dilemmas that would inevitably occur when the possibility of changing future timelines is involved. Do they do what they want and change events to better their future and ensure their own happiness? Or is it better to leave events as they had occurred?
I found this book fascinating because I have always enjoyed the concept of time travel. I could not help but wonder what I would do if I could travel back in time. As someone fascinated with tracing my family tree, I personally would love to travel back in time and meet some of my ancestors so I could learn more about them. But how would that effect my future? The author did a great job of writing historical details and conveying the emotions and thoughts of each character through their individual stories. An interesting read!

Quinnlan Trinity has been chosen from the paranormal world to get a second chance at life. Every ten years the gods choose someone who has been unjustly killed and give them a second chance. Except the gods seem a bit twisted as there are strings attached to this second chance. Not only does Quinnlan only have three days to find a mate but the gods have dropped him in an abandoned motel in the middle of nowhere. How is he supposed to find a mate in a place in the middle of nowhere?
Then Quinnlan finds a man bleeding out after an encounter with a group of wolf shifters. To save the man’s life he must feed him his own blood but in doing so this would bond him forever as his mate. He would also have to tell the man once he recovered that they are now bonded together forever, and Quinnlan has no idea what the man’s reaction will be. In either scenario he risks being doomed back to the afterlife.
Another intriguing and entertaining story by this author. Although the story was short, it packed a punch. The characters were interesting, and the scenes were well developed. I loved that the character of Quinnlan had so many facets to his personality. He was strong, courageous, kind, and witty. The added bits of humor throughout added a nice element to the other serious aspects of the storyline. A great read!

More Than by Diane Barnes is a very relatable story about a mother who finds herself as her children leave home. Peggy is the stay-at-home mom of twins. She is still grieving the loss of her husband 14 years later. As her twins prepare to leave home for college, they give her a gift certificate for a 12-week boot camp. We go along with Peggy as she goes on the journey to lose weight and rediscover herself. While Peggy can come off as selfish and judgemental at times you can see that it’s all about her insecurities. It is a good look at what happens when you allow yourself to wallow in self-pity. Peggy was incredibly relatable and you want to see her win. I greatly enjoyed rooting for this character. I highly recommend this book!

What a fun read for middle elementary school agers. I’d say to anyone who is ready to read a chapter book, this one is perfect. It has everything a reader is looking for. Fantasy, magic, journalism, and the most important is the adventure. Gwendolyn is a Dream Shifter so she shifts in her dreams but wakes up as a girl. That is until she is woken in the middle of the night to the fire alarm. Her life changes drastically and now she needs to turn things around. Elk season is here and, well she is an elk. How will she change? Can she change back to the girl she is? No Spoilers. This author has become one of my favorite writers for children’s books. All of her books are fascinating and easy to follow. Her stories never drag on, she keeps the reader reading. Her characters are always fun to read about. They are also easy to relate to. I am looking forward to the next story.
After a brain injury leaves Nick O’Connor somewhat confused, his wife, Julia is hesitant to travel to Venice for her career. Nick convinces her and his doctor that he is stable, and the pair goes on their trip. While exploring artwork, Nick believes that a beautiful woman inside of a painting called Paradise is talking to him, but only he can hear her. Unsure as to if it is real, or if it is his brain injury talking, he ignores it. Then, he passes out. Nick tries to write it off as his brain injury, but something pulls him to return to Paradise to see if the instance occurs again, and it does. During his return, Nick finds that the woman’s name is Isabella and that her soul is trapped within the painting. Julia starts to fear for Nick’s wellbeing, while Nick puts the two of them further into danger. What exactly is Paradise and who are the people who are protecting it? Answers are found, while more mystery behind the painting unfold. The Prisoner of Paradise is full of relatable characters, action, mystery, and betrayal. The scenes the writer describes can easily be envisioned, as well as the emotions that the characters feel can be felt through the reader. The Prisoner of Paradise is a work of art within itself. I would not change a single part of it. If you are looking for a thriller full of beautiful sights, mystery, twists and turns, and love, look no further. I cannot wait to pick up the sequel, Painter of the Damned.

Chase and Kate ( Katarina ) meet in Aruba at a hotel when a man at the hotel bar falls to the ground. When Kate realizes the man isn’t breathing she starts CPR and yells for someone to call 9-1-1. Luckily Chase strides over and helps her administer CPR until help arrives. Chase and Kate have an instant attraction but Chase refuses to give in to his attraction and desires right away. He takes Kate out to eat a few times, sight seeing and they share kisses but he tells her to remember how she feels at that exact moment and they will continue what they started the following day.Kate finds out the following day who he really is and doesn’t know if she can continue what they started. When Kate’s life is in danger, Chase takes charge and vows to keep her safe. Lots of secrets are revealed and there’s a lot of unexpected twists in this book. Definitely a 5 star read for me. Cannot wait for more by this author. Loving her books so far!
