When I started this book I expected a typical historical romance story. What I actually got was something much more complex. I loved how intricate and vivid it seemed to be. I really got caught up in Erin and the journey she goes through. I felt the connection between her and Arick. This is a new author to me and I really enjoyed her style of writing. There was so much more to this book than I expected. I thought the author did a great job of portraying the era and everything that comes with it. I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
This is a brilliant collection of Christmas stories and is really one to get you in the festive spirit. I really enjoyed each and everyone of these stories and the different styles of the authors. They were all distinct and separate from the others with the only overlap being the theme and the romance. Each book was well written and there was some amazing characters across the board. Even when reading these books back to back they were easily to distinguish and easy to connect with. I had read only a small amount by any of these authors so it was great to be introduced to some new ones. Each of them brought something to the anthology and it made it a great collection to read. I am looking forward to discovering more of their work in the future.

I don’t normally read books that have historical themes about them, but this book was amazing. A unique mystery that takes you through the life of Lottie. She has a side of herself she shows to everyone and then one that she saves for a special someone. Working as a clerk, she gets thrown into a twist when her personal life and professional life become entwined. Things begin to go astray when Lottie begins being blackmailed for her life style choices. She must figure out who is behind these cruel intentions. Wonderfully written and magnificently mysterious! I cannot wait to read more from this author!

I don’t know where to start with this book. The suspense, the drama, the characters, the family dynamics all are fantastic. Add in the brutal subject matter, the powerful tension of this book rockets up.
Kate and Tilly are sisters that grew up in a small New Mexican town with an evil overcast. Powerful men in the city have been trafficking the young girls for years. Kate discovered this when a student of hers at the local high school was murdered. The revelation led to many more, including Tilly’s history with the trafficking ring. Now, after the ring was exposed and Kate and her boyfriend were nearly killed to keep what they knew quiet, Kate and Tilly are attempting to rebuild their lives and their relationship.
Kate has opened her own therapy practice. Tilly and her boyfriend have moved closer. Tilly is starting a new job. Steven is off achieving a dream. Things are settled and seem to be moving towards domestic bliss. But it is never that easy. Tragedy strikes for Tilly. Kate makes some startling revelations regarding her parents. The twist, the questions all leading to more.
I jumped in this series here. I was blown away. Take my advice, it doesn’t matter where you start this series, just start it. I don’t know how much more these sisters can take but I hope they get the justice they deserve in the end. Ruth must go down!!! I will be going back and picking up the first one! I am hooked until the end! You will be, too!!!

This book surprised me. I am not into books based in the south really. But I enjoyed this one. It made me remember my time spent in Mississippi. The author kept you wanting more. The close attention to detail and the feelings expressed through words painted a picture in my mind. I highly recommend this book.

I loved this book so much. Reading it made me smile and tug at my heartstrings hard. My nieces and I love the story all about Albert the Turkey. Coming into the Thanksgiving Holiday, Albert the Turkey is at a farm where a family comes to purchase their Thanksgiving Turkey. Albert tries so hard to be kind and flaunt his feathers that the family changes their mind. I love that the story you learn what the “pardon” means and what is behind it. As the family navigates a decision…Albert is hoping he can be safe.
This story is just wonderful, the illustrations and spot on and fantastic and the book can be for young and old alike. I always look forward to this author’s books…….just pure joy!!

Off the charts action, word building, magic, danger, love the realms and the hot sizzle between Rad and Sin!! This author is new to me and I can say I cannot wait until Book 2 and would love to explore more from what this author has to offer!! I felt while I was reading I was taken to a different world….So Well Done!!!

This is a really good book for learning compassion and rescue of animals. I was really impressed with the authors style and the way in which the story is written. There was a very valuable lesson taught and this book is very inspirational. I just wish my children were young enough for this book as I would definitely get them to read this. I really would recommend this book for a child about 8-9. I would like to read more from this author as well in future.
Christmas has certainly come early with this anthology. Each story brings Christmas to life like any heartwarming Christmas movie. The stories were uplifting, happy, emotive and funny. This was perfect to read cuddled up in a blanket in front of the fire.

I am quite familiar with book written by this author so I had a good feeling that I would enjoy this one too. And that was correct. While a little different from some of her previous stories, I loved the idea of time traveling and was immediately enthralled by this book. This author certainly knows how to tell a story set in a different time and era. Her attention to the details is phenomenal and leaves me wanting to step foot into the story. The characters in this story are probably one of my favorite casts because they were so relatable to me. This story really made me question what I would do and where would I go if given the opportunity to travel through time. I loved this book from the beginning, and I highly recommend it.

With Tina the first of the friends getting ready to walk down the aisle, Lisa meets Ryan who is the brother of Tina’s fiancée. Ryan is intrigued by Lisa and they find themselves dating but if it doesn’t work could it destroy the friendship she has with Tina or could it be the best thing that ever happened to her?
I really enjoyed this one. As a movie buff this one checked my list of books to read. I also am a big fan of food especially food blogger’s as plot line and this had it as well. Really entertaining and I think it had a very honest feel for the couples and characters who look out for one another. Entertaining story, look forward to the next book.

Although I didn’t read the other books in this series, The Protector is easy to read as a standalone and gives us a bit of insight into the former books couplings. The subject matter may be a bit triggering to some readers, but it was well written and not graphic details. The character of Renee is so heartbreaking and stronger than she is willing to allow herself to feel. Declan is her rock and the only one she wants to open up to full heartedly. This story takes us into a form of intimacy that stems from trauma and helping each other heal in the most horrible of circumstances. I really liked the pairing of Declan and Renee and how they both had to conquer a relationship built first on trust and lack of physical touch.

Only one word to start this review off, WOW! This is a great start to this series. Marcy is extremely independent and strong. Finding herself in a store robbery, her anger gets the best of her. As she gives the robber a beat down. Okay I had to laugh at the fact she just responded so quickly that the people around her were stunned, including the man at the register. But when her boyfriend and employees insist she get counseling for her anger issues. She decides to go as she knows she is angry but does not know why. Then in walks Liam who needs Marcys help in making mends against the people who killed his family. That’s it! No Spoilers! I have read many of this author’s books, and she never disappoints. Marcy is definitely strong and independent, Liam is seeking Marcys help and Brad, the long time boyfriend, is wanting to keep Marcy close. I love the characters in this story and am looking forward to seeing where this series goes next.

This book is a standalone, forbidden office romance. It’s the first book I’ve read by this author but I wasn’t disappointed.
Devlin is aiming for a promotion and he’s only got one to follow. No fraternizing. Seems easy enough- at first. Evelyn wants to move up so she’s going to take the steps she needs to, starting with this party. Going through a breakup makes things a bit challenging but she’s determined. She doesn’t count on Devlin and the last thing she needs is for them to get caught. Their connection is real but is it worth the risk?
I really enjoyed this book. The chemistry between Devlin and Evelyn was so believable and extended beyond the wanting want you can’t have. Definitely recommend giving it a read!

WWII is my favorite genre to read. This is a love story about a pianist who is gifted some figurines. When one breaks, Erin finds herself transported back in time to occupied France. While there, she attempts to save herself and others from a German Officer. Erin also meets a British pilot who she feels a connection to – we learn of their bravery and willingness to stand up for what is right. I enjoyed the characters and setting of this story. Time travel is “meh” to me, but it did add something to the story.

This book was written so perfectly, could not have asked for more. With the aspect of WWII, you truly felt the emotions of the characters and what was going on. In truth, the book also had a lot of beauty!
I found the characters in this time travel story very captivating The love that was felt was very real to me and undeniable. The emotions were real, I felt I was time traveled myself to where the story is time traveled. This book showed me that in our darkest moments, we can find light. The main character who is the one time traveled, from a gift received from a decreased relative, learns. Admired Erin greatly. The interactions with her and the pilot, were beautiful and yet haunting. If you lived thru what Erin did, and learned and experienced what she did, would you give it all up to return to your life? It was a powerful read, and I could not put it down at all. When I reached the end, I must say I was unprepared. I really am hoping for a follow up book by this wonderful author! This book is an intense gem! Absolutely loved with all my soul!
I cannot say enough good things about this book or author. Definitely one of the best books I’ve read this year. Not kidding either! Highly recommend this must read book, as well as the author! Amazing read!

Once there, he is excited to be reunited with old friends, family and an old lover but quickly realizes it is not what he was looking for. His grandmother persuades Nico to trek through Peru on a quest to find his spiritual teacher. This sends Nico on a journey of self-discovery as he navigates his way through past trauma and tries to find his place in the world.
As someone who has tried to navigate through their own personal trauma, I found Nico’s journey to be inspirational and motivating. Nico came across initially as someone who seems like he only cares about himself and his own needs. Once you get to know him better you start to see that there is more to him than he lets on and that his past traumas have impacted his life in a negative manner. It was interesting to read about his journey of self-discovery as he navigated his way through the trauma to move forward. A truly uplifting and inspiring read.

This is my first time reading a book like this, and I absolutely loved it. The plot is well-developed and the characters come to life within the book. Leatherman takes the reader and Evan, the main character on a mystical adventure to another realm. Evan is hoisted into the world of fae with trolls, dragons, elves, and wizards. He soon finds out that he is trapped in this world until the queen gives him a spell to transport him back home. He will have to complete three quests. Each one is harder than the previous one. I really enjoyed this romantic comedy story. The author does an amazing job with the characters and I loved them because I could see so much of me and my friend in them. The friendship between Emily and Ruby is really special and you just know no matter what these girls will be by each others side always.
When Ruby is left at the alter she is understandable heartbroken but her best friend and maid of honour comes to the rescue with a great way to save something from the disaster. The girls are going to go on the couples honeymoon cruise and have a great time. What could go wrong? This story is full of funny laugh out loud moments, twists as the story progresses and the main theme of friendship no matter what. These girls get up to so many adventures and things you don’t even imagine but you won’t wait to put it down until the end. I fell in love with this book as well as the characters. I can’t wait to read more by this author
Sin Marston has a gift, she can see past the glamour of the Hidden. Hidden are a diverse group of otherworld creatures that can move between the veil that separates realms. Previously a member of the task force in charge of dealing with Hidden, Sin has since struck out on her own doing contract work for both sides. Life is pretty simple until she meets Rad Cray, a fire elemental. Sin and Rad get involved in trying to stop an illegal magic harvesting ring. This was a great weekend read, lots of action and great characters.

The Fifth Daughter of Thorn Ranch by Julia Brewer Daily is a western women’s fiction story- a family saga with secrets, drama, mystery, family, conflict, kidnapping, suspense, adventure, action, romance, mother daughter relationship dynamics, and palpable tension. Ms. Daily has written a richly detailed and vividly descriptive story- her attention to detail really makes this story come to life and has given the characters a realistic and believable quality. The story is told from several POV’s, moving from past to present and back again, which captures the complexities of the storyline really well, and gives the reader a really great vantage point from which to enjoy the story. I thought the dramatic developments were really well crafted and made the story quite engrossing. This is my favourite of the two books of Ms. Daily’s that I have read, so far, and I look forward to seeing what she does next. Happy Reading…

The Rom Com Movie Club- Book One by Bernadette Marie was such a great read. It is a contemporary romance, with witty humour, banter, friendship, fate, angst, drama, chemistry, and wonderful characters. This grabbed me right from the start and I soon found myself fully immersed in the story, reading the whole thing in one sitting. The characters were really well-crafted into fully developed individuals with their own personalities, quirks, and flaws. Our MC’s are both a little broken and carry their own pain- and were so great together. There was a little insta-love, but the author didn’t make it too easy for them, throwing in a little drama and angst, as well as meddling friends and family, to build some tension and keep us (the reader) turning the pages to find out how it all plays out in the end. Another to add to my list of favourites by Bernadette Marie. Bring on Book #2! Happy Reading…

I haven’t read a poetry book since my elementary school days. At first glimpse I was uncertain I would make it through this book, but as I continued in and took time to really listen to the message in each poem, I found myself enjoying it! I loved the colored pages with each poem. I liked the references to the Beatles. It has challenging vocabulary but the words painted a picture of meaning. If you want to read unique poetry, you might like to give this book a try.

Pardon Me, Please is another cute and colourfully illustrated children’s story by Lois Wickstrom. The worst time and place to be a turkey would have to be stuck on a turkey farm leading up to Thanksgiving. Well, that is exactly the predicament that Albert, the turkey, finds himself in. When a family arrives and starts sizing him up for their holiday meal, Albert is desperate to find a way to save himself from becoming their dinner. With time running out, things look quite grim. What will he do? Will he get his chance for freedom and escape the fate of so many other not-so-luck turkeys? This cute little story is well worth the read to find out. Happy Reading…

Tina, in the throes of wedding madness, tells Lisa that under no circumstance is she ok with her dating Ryan. While the other girls all try to help even out Tina’s wedding mania, Ryan pursues a relationship with Lisa. Can Lisa find a way to balance her love for Ryan and not get caught up with comparing their love to a Rom Com? Can Tina see that her friend’s happiness is worth more than her feelings?
Wow. What a great first book to a series! Each character was well written and all relatable. The author did a fantastic job of describing anxiety and how it affects those who suffer from it. The girls’ relationships with each other are something that everyone should have. Love that is deep and willing to tell the truth even when it hurts. People in their corner, cheering them on but pulling them back from the crazy ledge. I am really looking forward to reading about the other girls finding love!

The Dwarves’ Dilemma: A Science Folktale (Science Folktale Series) by Lois Wickstrom is a cute illustrated children’s story. This is a ‘Snow White’ story, with a bit of a twist. It has a sweet plot with bright and colourful illustrations to hold children’s interest, a little drama, lesson/teaching moments on problem solving- fairness- making mistakes- taking responsibility- mirrors- and reflections. And includes some science experiments you can do, at home or the classroom, at the end of the book. The story is easy to follow and understand and will easily hold a child’s attention the whole way through. This cute and quirky story was engaging and fun, feeding both the imagination, as well as inspiring a little learning. Happy reading!
A Christmas to Remember is a wonderful Anthology From 5 Prince Publishing containing seven romantic holiday stories by some wonderfully talented authors. These authors all have different styles and approaches to writing; and all the stories are each unique and individual to the author- but they each use the same theme, Christmas, and romance, as their inspiration. I LOVE everything Christmas, and as all the stories in the anthology are set on and around Christmas, it makes this an even more captivating read, for me.

SUCH A GOOD STORY! Let me just start with that. This is the second book in the Legacy of Silence. But I have not read the first book (yet, going to order it right now!) and it read perfectly fine. You may be missing just a little bit of background information regarding Tilly and Kate, but nothing that can’t be figured out through context clues. This story is heavy, dealing with rape and sex trafficking. It may be triggering to some so a warning might be appreciated. Tilly and Kate are sisters. They have lived very traumatic and tumultuous lives. However they have not taken this as a hardship they cannot overcome. Rather, it is something that they apply to help others. Kate is a psychologist whose whole practice is helping young people in need. She discovers a potential human trafficking ring that involves the people in power in her town. Tilly is a nurse who has helped one too many women after an attack. Together they work to solve this case. As hard as the topic is. I love the way that this story handled it. Tilly and Kate are great examples of overcoming adversity. I love the bond they have as sisters and how they are willing to help others in need. I think Tilly and Kate are greatly developed characters who I was rooting for. I definitely cannot wait to read more about the two of them as the series continues!

I have been a fan of Bernadette Marie for a while now. So I was very excited to start another book by her. Once again, I was not disappointed. It is what I have come to know and love from her. A book with wonderful characters and fantastic plot line and me not wanting the story to end. I always feel like I am one of the characters in the story when I read her stories. I absolutely loved this story. Lisa, Mindy, Ruby and Tina are the types of friends I have wanted for myself but have never found. They are the friends that get together once a month to celebrate friendship and watch a romantic comedy. Their night is full of traditions – starting with wearing a baggy college sweatshirt and pretending it is the sleepovers they loved as teenagers. The biggest tradition of all is the searching for the happily ever after through film. This time however, things begin to go a little sideways and their friendships are tested. Lisa has not exactly believed in happy endings, but she loves the idea of them. Tina is getting married and stressed out beyond belief. She is venting to Lisa about how she is sharing her future in-laws house and how that house is growing by one more. Her fiancee’s brother is moving home. Lisa asked to see a picture of Ryan and sparks instantly flew. When they met the chemistry was unimaginable. However, it also tested the waters of the girls’ friendship. The last think Lisa wants to do is ruin Tina’s wedding, but should she have to walk away from her happily ever after? Or will Tina come around and see how much happiness and love Ryan and Lisa have for one another. I definitely love this story and the characters. I cannot recommend this story enough to those that love a good comfort of a story about friendship and love.

As a parent of young adults, I am not usually a fan of the young adult troupe. But I took a chance on WE Blend and I am so glad I did! What a well written, passionate, sweet story!
Young adults may claim to know it all but they really are just trying out what they do know and discovering what they don’t. The two main characters, Wil and El learn that money is the root of many problems, whether you have it or you don’t.
This story has all the feels. It made me laugh, cry and even sigh. The situations these characters find themselves in, especially the ones they create, are realistic and believable. Many times, I found myself saying “that’d be my luck!”
This story was easy to read with the plot clearly laid out, what wasn’t clear was how these two were going to get their HEA! I enjoyed reading book 1 and am looking forward to the next story in this series.
