Delicious Death (Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries Book 2) by Byrd Nash – Review by Jamie Burns

Delicious Death is the second book in a six part novella series called Madame Chalamet by Byrd Nash. This book took me back to my roots of loving mysteries! Nash has created a wonderful series so far with captivating characters that readers love. Elinor is by far my newest favorite sleuth-ghost whisperer- who is balancing the food competition and trying to help a lady in distress. One cannot forget that there’s an assassin who is out to cause harm. Nash has a wonderful knack for keeping the reader at the edge of their seat in anticipation about what will happen next. I am looking forward to reading the third book in this series.

I just want to start out by saying that the best friend in this book will infuriate you until the end! With that being said, this book started out with a kiss to knock all kisses out of the water! After that steamy kiss the conversation and situation gets thrown way out into left field. This story puts you through all the emotions and fixes you by the end.

Luke Williams is determined to live her life on her terms. She has left her family behind and has forged her way in life. Afraid of giving in to another, she leaves the man she won’t admit to loving in the middle of the night.
Nikolai Bazenhov, a made man in his family’s business, knows where Luke is. He’s been keeping tabs on her since the night she left him.
When Luke finds herself in a dangerous situation, she has to give in to her stubbornness and trust the same man she left a year prior.
These characters have a lot to offer each other if they can reconcile their past histories. This novel is full of steamy romance, dark situations and it was truly and enjoyable read.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This story follows Luke, a strong, independent woman whose fear of love lands her back in Seattle in a dangerous position, and Nikolai, member of Seattle’s biggest mafia family with a sole purpose of protecting Luke to show her how he feels about her. I recommend this book because, whilst this story is still in the editing process, it has so much potential; the storyline is gripping, the characters are strong – I particularly love Luke’s character, a woman who is independent and does not rely on men, but also a woman who loves her makeup and nice clothes and high heels and feeling sexy – the book is steamy, and I am a sucker for a happy ending. I’m looking forward to reading more of Brooke May and watching her grow in the industry. “You’ve been mine from the first glance.”

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sadly, I had to read the 2nd part of Byrd Nash’s novel. I have to say this is different from my other likes of mystery and murder crimes. Elinor is a medium who finally took a break from solving crime and ended up with another solving crime in which a King is a target. Funny is that the chef is the one that is the problem and using food to kill the King.
I recommended this to my teen kids who love to a good mystery book.

Man, this is an intense book. Dark mafia and it turned great. This was the first for this author and I’m a fan. I hope she’ll do more. Luke and Nik’s story is powerful and a true story to love and letting those walls down. They both have intense issues. Can Luke let hers down to claim that love? Powerfully written, you are pulled write in from the beginning. Luke is tough and vulnerable when she feels safe enough to let her guard down. The plot of the story was amazing and so well-done. I would love to see move of these characters. Definitely a story I would recommend.

Saving the Bellydancer (Green Brotherhood: SEAL Team XII Book 3) by Debra Parmley – Review by Shelly Kittell

Saving the Bellydancer (Green Brotherhood: SEAL Team XII Book 3)Saving the Bellydancer by Debra Parmley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a bittersweet story of second-chance romance. Tony, aka Cutter, finally really he wants to date a high-value woman. He finds that in Zarifah, aka Edith Smith. She is a belly dancer and gymnastics teacher. They both have issues from previous relationships. The attraction is there. The question is, can they work through this and be the couple they want to be? The story is sweet and romantic. It does have a topic of domestic abuse. We get to see both characters grow. Cutter grows up right before your eyes. The plot could have used a dash more excitement. It had a few dry spots but it really is a beautiful story. I wish we could have seen more as to what happened when he took her home to meet Grandma. She is my favorite character.

Dominic is on high alert from the attack at the casino and when Salvatore issues the order to go and seek revenge he is more than happy to attack De Rosa’s house and grab the only thing that is dear to De Rosa’s heart his daughter as a bargaining chip, but all hell breaks loose and he has his hands full.

Emelia has been taught well for this day, as a mafia princess she knows that she is always on alert and can easily be taken to use against the family, so when she was hiding in the tunnels trying to not to be found but when the dark eyes meet hers, she is in trouble.

Dominic has Emelia as a pawn in this game of power but she is not easy, a hellcat who is trying to escape at every turn but something shifts and Dom starts being drawn to Emelia knowing that the relationship is forbidden and could get them both killed. Can they keep what they have hidden long enough so Dom and Emelia explain.

I loved the first book in this series and this book does not disappoint, the story picks up just after the first book ends and the families are at war with each other. I love the character of Emelia as she is cast at first as the helpless Mafia Princess but as the story goes on you get to see the sheer determination of her character and the strong female role model you want in a book like this. She is equal to Dom and he treats her with the respect as an equal also which is wonderful to read.

The story is full of revelations of both families and how the next generation of the Larussio’s are planning to lead the family. The chemistry between the two jumps off the page and is a great dynamic to read through the adventures of both, with a twist at the end I could not stop reading this book and read it in one sitting.

I can’t wait for Lorenzo’s story as he is a quiet character in the other books, I have a feeling he is deadly under the covers.

Quick read. Not my favorite story this year but it is a quick read and it will keep you entertained for a couple hours. Business partners in a party planning company, Cadence and Jasmine have been friends since college, but will that all change now.
Jasmine is the sensible one in the party planning business while Cadence is the spoiled brat partner that gets her way all the time. However what happens in this story happens when Jasmine is trying to plan the wedding of James and Cadence. Interesting and irritating to say the least.

Jasmine has had a rough past. The death of her parents and the way the other people treated her after has left her quite alone in her world. However, she busies herself with keeping he company, Divine Events, running alongside her friend Cadence. However, a kiss with a hot stranger sets her life on a path she couldn’t have seen coming.

James has had a rocky path when it comes to business…but his new venture is going to be different. However, he needs the financial backing, and he knows just the person. It will be a mutual benefit for them…he will get the funding and she will get the perks that come with having his last name. But he didn’t intend to fall for the quick tempered Jasmine. How can he make it work with her while keeping his venture with Cadence afloat?

This was a good book that kept me entertained from beginning to end. I felt for Jasmine and it was sad to see how the people in her life were using her…and she was too nice to do anything about it. When she told the story of her past, my heart just broke for her. However, with James’ help (whether she will admit that or not), Jasmine was able to stand up for herself and put her wants and needs above everyone else’s! Quite an enjoyable read!

This book was nothing short of amazing. I absolutely LOVED IT. It’s very entertaining and well written. From the beginning of the book, Rhia’s personality is on full display. Her boldness and bluntness is so evident from the first chapter. I spent the entire book rooting for her and the prince. I 100% am adding this author to my top 5 author list.

Rhia is about to marry the Prince of Wales. Sounds romantic if you like that sort of thing and Rhia does not. This is an arranged marriage by her father with hopes to negotiate a tax debt.
So, while Rhia is expected to save the town by convincing her new husband to erase the tax debt.
Unfortunately for Rhia and the town, the prince has been tasked with paying the tax debt.
How will Rhia and the prince navigate this new marriage, their fathers, the debt and an old enemy threat to their village?

This was so sweet and fun! An easy read!
Rhia is so strong and independent, and I really enjoyed the relationship between her and the prince.
The characters were so likable. The dynamics between Rhia and her brother were so heart felt and funny. Another fun relationship was between Rhia and the Princes personal staff – it had me laughing out loud!
Would recommend if you are looking for a sweet romance with charm and lots of mud and snails!

Loretta is picking up logs to bring in to place in the hearth when a mysterious tube falls out. Come to find out, Loretta has found a nest for leafcutter bees. Loretta is all excited and asks her mother what she should do. Loretta finds a safe place for the nest until the weather is warmer and the bees begin their work.

This book focuses on the science of bees and pollination. The end of the book has directions on how to make your own bee nest.

The bee on the front cover of this book almost looks 3D!! It’s super cool looking (at least it is on my Kindle!) This book would be great for a library in a school, homeschool, co-op, daycare, or a personal one! I love this author and the science subjects that she covers.

This was a great 5 star read. This prequel pulled me in right from the beginning and I can’t wait for the next book. The author does a great job of introducing us to Issac and Jack. They didn’t plan to have anything beyond their couple of days together but things quickly changed. Issac can’t get her out of his mind. Will he be able to convince her to give their connection a try? Will it delay his obligations to his family? I loved this prequel, enjoyed seeing how these two get started and look forward to reading more from them. I had no idea what this book was about when I opened it. I just really loved the cover art. That being said, I have mixed feelings about My Pearl Heart. The first half of the book I was really annoyed at what was happening and feeling like I was missing information. The whole relationship between Jasmine and James really didn’t sit right with me. They were expressing interest right under the nose of Candice. However, as the book goes on and we are given more details, things start to fall into place. Once all was revealed, my feelings switched to justifiable karma and I ended up liking the ending. I thought the author did a great job bringing everything together and wrapping up the story nicely. I would read more by this author, and recommend the book. But, give it a shot. I wasn’t feeling it in the beginning, but I liked it at the end.

Emelia is exactly what Dominic needed without either of them realizing it. She is a spitfire and doesn’t go down without a fight.

I am a longtime fan of this author and with each book she gets better and better. I can’t wait to see who falls next and what kind of trouble finds them.

“Oh, what a tangled web we weave, when first we practice to deceive.” This quote describes perfectly the plot of this captivating tale! It is difficult to discern which characters are telling or acknowledging the truth. It all culminates in an ending that is fantastically twisted.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Sharing His Nanny was not quite what I was expecting. Based on the title and synopsis, I was expecting a bunch of steamy, over-the-top sexual scenes and not much for a story line. I’m glad to say I was wrong in this regard. Tori Chase brought some pretty unique and realistic individuals to life in Stella, Charles, Jordan, and Alex. There was a lot of character building and background information presented at the beginning of the book, which I liked. However, with all of the information at the beginning, I felt like the ending of the book was a bit rushed. The ending was so sweet, with a few surprises, but I felt like it could have been a little longer and more detailed. Overall, Sharing His Nanny has wonderful characters, a great story, and exciting spicy scenes.
