My first favorite book of 2023. A romantic suspense that will have you putting the DO NOT DISTURB sign on everything. Hunt, Selma, Flynn and the rest of the gang are involved in some deep drama and undercover adventure. I was drawn in right from the start and engaged with Hunt and Selma, they are a power couple that come with baggage, but work hard to power through it. With deadly antagonists to find and take out, the drama is real and can turn at a heartbeat. The romance is flowing. As Kieran says, it’s “the Chase flu” in the water (love the humor in the story. The characters are very relatable and easy to feel like you could know them. The plot line is thick and has a few subplots that magically all come right back together. I love the teamwork of the characters. The flow of the story is perfect. This book is fantastic and I loved it. It would get more than 5 stars if I were allowed.

Just wow! The first book in the series was amazing, and this 2nd book is just as good if not better. Dominic is out for blood after the attack on his family by the De Rosa family. Emelia De Rosa is the princess of her family and exactly who Dominic is looking to capture. Once he gets her, he quickly learns that she is more than meets the eye. Emelia is a force all her own. Which side will come out on top and will they be able to deny the attraction they feel for the enemy? I love love love Emelia! My favorite character in a book filled with great characters.

I have read some of Naomi’s paranormal books and they are thrilling and sends to magical worlds and realms, so I was a little surprise to read a contemporary Romance book from her. That being said it was still full of the brilliant writing and the story draw you in, the characters are charming and the writing shows the vulnerability of the male characters. I am trying not to give too much away because this is a truly great love story.
Reading this book you will go through the emotions with all the characters and I am glad that you got to find out about all the characters not just Augustine and Dorian. Thank you for a truly brilliant, well written read.

Gwyn McNamee gives us a heart throb thrilling series with six books in total. Things start with a bang when Danika faces off with Savage Hawke in book number 1 titled Savage Collision. Sparks fly and you can definitely cut the tension with a knife! After answers about her sister, Danika doesn’t expect to develop the feels and Savage is pleasantly surprised. This book was a rollercoaster that put me in a state of determination to see what came next and what more the author had to offer.
In book 2 titled Tortured Skye we see a female member of the Hawke family burning the pages with another sultry tale of angst and heavy chemistry. Cue Gabe. The best thing aside from keeping me on my toes was the face we were previously introduced to Skye and I am a sucker for seeing a character grow and develop throughout the series! Book two held its weight as a great addition to the growing series.
Stone Sober or book 3 was one I read from beginning to end in one sitting. There was enough build up that I needed to consume it wholly. At this point Gwynn has me hook line and sinker and Stone and Nora took home the cake here. The dynamic between them was so out of left field in the most perfect way and his gruff, straight sex appeal versus her school girl saint naivety had a duo that just had me right up in my feels. by far my favourite *so far* of the series. I honestly think that if you are reading this review and wanting to start the series on book three…DONT DO IT. I don’t know that the effect would be the same if you didn’t have the full story to build on the world these characters are living in and the rules they play by. As always Gywn gave us a solid read that left us fantasizing about our own Stone.
Book 4 called building storm left a storm in my heart. Total goals was the character Storm showcased and I think the reason the book was so addicting was the fact that at some level angst, pain and difficulty are all relatable. This duo had me sobbing and I really didn’t want it to end!
Book 5 was Tainted Saint and it was a definite tale of don’t judge a book by its cover. Saint and Carolines dynamic was fire. They both project whether willingly or not, different people than who they are deep down and I wasn’t sure this duo would survive to the end. Gwyn has a way of entwining us into these peoples lives where you feel as if you are experiencing their emotions and rooting them the whole way through! Another book in the series I couldn’t have put down even if I wanted to!!
All good things come to an end and for this blazing box set Steel Resolve brought it home. The risks were high, my fingers cramped from gripping the edge of my seat and this was a real curveball. I enjoyed the deviation as it kept the series fresh. Left opportunity. Luca is SOMETHING ELSE and man, I was sweating more than once. A true nail biter with this balanced beautifully with the glimpses into the softer side of the hardest people.

What an introduction from a new to me author. I was intrigued by the description and decided to give it a try and I’m not regretting my decision.
You think the book is heading one way and it then takes a turn which I loved. Augustine and Dorian’s lives are changed in a split second and they have no idea the impact for quite some time.
This is definitely not like a book I have read before and I enjoyed that more than I expected to. Hope I get a chance to read more in the future.

This is book two in the series of the gas lamp fantasy genre. I’ve grown fond of Madame Chalamet and her talents for ghost talking. We are introduced into a new city with some new characters and another mystery. There’s a lot of action that doesn’t require Chalamet’s skills as a ghost talker but she sure does get into a mystery. Can’t wait to read book three!

This is the first book I’ve read by the author. A Dowry of Snails and Mud is a fun read. I was hooked from the beginning. I would definitely read it if I was younger. The adult in me couldn’t turn it down.
Rhiannon is a peasant and she is to be married off to a Prince. This doesn’t sit well with her at all. She doesn’t like it and she makes that known. Then after she is married things seem to get worse. Can she save her village? What about her marriage? The quote I chose for Rhiannon is: “You haven’t kissed me, you mad milksop.”
Emerys is the Prince and he’s to be married off to someone he doesn’t know the name of. All because he stood up to his father. He’d much rather bird watch and collect rocks, but he can’t. Can he help his new bride save her village? The quote I chose for Emerys is: “Would it be so bad to share that business? Like it or not, we’re husband and wife now.”
Highly recommended for YA Historical Romance lovers.

This is book one in the historical gas lamp fantasy series. This is my first time reading this genre. I’m enjoying this novel! It’s set in my favorite time period historically. There’s judacious use of metaphors and impressive world building. I laughed at the use of a woman’s weapon described as man-stopper! Mediums are ghost talkers in the wonderful mystery with a little bit of romance.
Underboss’s Retaliation is the 2nd book in the Dark Mafia Romance series. I did not read the first book, and still enjoyed this one. I could tell it was an ongoing story, and there was references to previous events. However, the author provided enough detail that it wasn’t lacking. It is similar to other mafia romance books, but I really enjoyed it. The characters are well written, and their love and devotion to the Family is undeniable. It had a good balance of suspense and romance. Dominic is strong and loyal, but can be sweet under his terrifying outside. This is book 2 and continues with the Larussio family going up against the De Rosa family. This book picks up where book 1 ended. Even giving a glimpse into book 1 in the first few pages.
This time the story is primarily about Dominic and Emelia. Which they are from opposite families that are enemies. So the first few chapters kind of give that Romeo and Juliet vibe. I love how Emelia is shown to be stronger than thought to be!
Emelia and Dominic cross a line that can never be un-crossed and no matter what one of them would have to give up their family lineage if they wanted to be together. Emelia shows just how strong she is and Dominic shows her how far he will go to protect her.
I can’t wait to follow more of this family and see how this all plays out. I’m glad that each one is centered around a particular person.

This isn’t the first book I’ve read by the author. The Husbands was a great read. The author has great writing skill. So far I can’t choose a favorite for the author.
Augustine was shot in the arm and lost use of it. Now he’s suffering and making everyone else suffer. He doesn’t mean to take it out on his wife. Then he runs into an old friend. The quote I chose for Augustine is: “I’d have slept longer, but the food lured me awake. What do you have planned for the day?”
Dorian takes odd jobs now and again. He really can’t rest until he knows someone is alright. Will he ever be able to do that? The quote I chose for Dorian is: “Successful. Did you do anything interesting while I was gone, besides turn our house into a Halloween playground?”
Highly recommended for Contemporary Romance lovers.
This was a really good 4 star read. Once I started I didn’t want to put it down. Jasmine was great, I really liked her. She is a strong woman who owns her own business with her best friend. She shares a kiss with James and gets a shocker when she finds out he’s engaged to her friend. This is where things start to get difficult. It’s not easy having a business with your friend, especially when she is engaged to the man you have some steamy feelings for. Be prepared for an emotional rollercoaster. As they are keeping their feelings hidden while their wives become close, it is only a matter of time before their secrets start to come out. And as they do, there is not telling who will end up hurt. Is there a way for it all to work out?
This was a quick read that I found to be quite interesting. It really focused on the feelings between Dorian and Augustine…and there are a lot. Love, fear, angst, guilt…all those feelings are there. But, once they are all acted upon, will they be hurting others around them? Or continue hurting themselves by keeping them hidden? I found myself emotionally attached to their situation and felt the pain as all the secrets started to unravel. Overall, a good story that I enjoyed reading!
This collection was absolutely amazing, that I couldn’t put them down I read all of them in a row. The depth this author wrote the story, and the characters was just phenomenal that I thought I was right there in the story and know the characters on a personal level. All these books were compelling and intriguing, filled with suspense, steamy romance and action-packed not only is there friendship, love and the way the family comes together when needed. Highly recommend these, you might not sleep until you’ve read them all, but its worth it.

If you do not enjoy POV writing you will not enjoy this book. This is written in the POV of two characters and in my opinion written very well in this format. For me it was a super easy short read that kept me interested until the very end. I do wish we got more details towards the ending of the books. However I think the plot was easy to follow and didn’t drag out too long. The author does well grabbing your attention and keeping it.
This was such a fun and unique book to read. I wasn’t sure what to expect with a title including snails and mud, but I was pleasantly surprised to read such a sweet and entertaining story. I loved how unique Rhiannon is and how her character continues to develop and grow as the story continued. Prince Emerys is seen as a delicate fellow, but he definitely blossoms during his marriage to Rhi and we start to see the strength in his character. I am always a sucker for a good enemies to lovers story and this one did not disappoint. It was a quick read, but definitely a well written one. I am excited to see more stories from the author.

I can’t stand snails, so, of course the title captured my imagination. An arranged marriage, and a vengeful, petty bride. The heroine (for that is what the bride grows into) reminds me of my own pettiness. Themes explored include twinship and kinship, along with kindness and solidarity. The author has quite skillfully trapped me within the web of her creation.

WOW!!! This book is an action-packed, romantic, easy-to-read Mafia-based story. It’s about the war between two families, and the love of Dom and Emilia. There is always something happening that keeps the story going and on your toes for what will happen next. I highly recommend this book!

This book was not my usual fare. It delved into topics that I don’t necessarily avoid, but that I don’t go out of my way to seek out. Lately, I have been expanding what I am trying to read and boy am I glad that I did. This book is such a great blend of genres – it touches on the job of assassins, then it goes deep into romance and then touches into polyamory. I truly enjoyed this book because I definitely didn’t know what to expect so I had an empty mind. I truly enjoyed how this book really explored how one untruth can cause a massive ripple effect. This wasn’t the main focus of the book, but I saw how it really resonated throughout. Because of Dorian’s original lie the entire book had many twists and turns and many others were impacted. I love how there was a real reaction to the men and their indiscretion – if you can even call that it. It wasn’t a blow up, but rather it is what I would view as a real reaction – a request for space and time. I definitely recommend this book, especially for those who want a change of pace and a book that is guaranteed not to disappoint.
I really love finding new authors and also series. This is the first book I have read in this series although I know it is the second one by this author. I really like how the storyline is not predictable and keeps you on your toes. The interaction between the characters is great and how the story builds. I find it has a good mix of drama and romance. The sort of unexpected love mood really gives the edge to the book. I look forward to reading more from this author and the series.

It felt like it had been far too long since I had read a new book by this author so I was beyond excited to get my hands on this one. I knew from experience to set aside enough time to read this book in one sitting because I wouldn’t be able to put it down, which is exactly what happened! I loved the characters in this book. Dorian and Augustine were absolutely perfect together. They made the book so interesting. The overall premise of the book was fantastic as well. It was well written, exciting and just what I was looking for when I picked up this book. This author really has become one of my favourites and I cannot wait to read even more of her work.
This was an enjoyable and engaging MM romance which had me hooked from start to finish. The intriguing storyline and wonderful characters, in this fairly short read, made this a book that I had trouble putting down. As the men struggle in the aftermath, they begin to develop feelings for each other, however, they are both happily married and so decide to stay away from one another. Although they are both broken hearted they are determined to move on with their lives, after all they will never see each other again. Wrong, three years later and Dorian and Augustine are shocked when their wives become friends and the men are introduced. Of course they can’t acknowledge what they mean to each other, but they also can’t deny their feelings and now that they are in each other’s lives again, thanks to their wives, it’s even more difficult to ignore their connection. The descriptive narrative brought both the setting and characters vividly to life, and made me feel immersed in the story. I was kept happily turning the pages wondering how it was going to end, no spoilers, but I definitely recommend reading this page turner of a book.

Jessa is the youngest daughter of a widowed father, who has his sister filling the void of mother for his daughters. Growing up, Jessa is inexplicably drawn to plants and flowers. They seem to want to sing to her, but her father has strictly forbidden her from pursuing such thoughts as it could lead to being “fae-touched”. People who are “fae-touched” are turned over to the Vigil, who in turn take them away to some unknown place. When her aunt is summoned to help a friend in a border town, Jessa jumps at the chance to leave their quiet town for the opportunity to sketch other plants and protect her aunt. However, she finds it harder and harder to block out the whispers as she is drawn into a mystery that must be solved before the wrong person is blamed. Can she keep the whispers at bay? Or will she find that she must embrace the whispers to solve the issue at hand?
I really enjoyed reading this book. The characters were well written, and the story moved along at a good pace. It was interesting to read how Jessa worked through her struggles and found herself in the process of solving the mystery. There is more to her story then the author let the reader in on and several questions left unanswered in regard to her family. I am looking forward to reading more about Jessa’s story!

My Oh My! This collection is fantastic! I did not expect this book to have so many twists and turns! There is so much character development throughout the book you would have never expected! I loved the relationships in this book and how it gives you a different perspective on love, trauma and personal development. This collection is one of a kind, it was very exciting, intriguing and it kept you on the edge of your seat! I would definitely recommend this collection to anyone who enjoys romance, strong female characters and an unlikely couple!

Madame Chalamet converses with the dead. She does not partake in the dog and pony show by which fraudulent Ghost Talkers swindle the wealthy. It is by her police consulting that Elinor Chalamet finds herself under house arrest with the Duke de Archembeau while dead man is identified as a relative of the Crown and items of political importance are discovered missing
This novel was absolutely riveting- various storylines interwoven with commonalities turned the pages quickly. I look forward to many more Madame Chalamet Ghost Mysteries!
This is a really good contemporary romance from an author who is new to me. This author usually writes paranormal romance so this was a first for them too, a new genre/trope. For a first go at writing something new and different, I can honestly say that the author has done a really good job and would do well to write more in this genre in addition to their usual. Dorian and Augustine are brought together as a result of an assassination attempt gone wrong. While helping Augustine to recover, a strong attachment is forged between the two men, however, both men are happily married to beautiful wives that they adore. So what do they do with the growing attraction they have to each other? To answer that question here would result in giving spoilers which I am not going to do. I wouldn’t want to spoil this story for another reader. I would encourage them to give this book a try and find the answer for themselves. In doing so you will find a well written story that flows well and keeps you engaged throughout. I would recommend this book.
