The perfect book to accompany you on vacation to a secluded cabin in the mountains and around a cozy campfire. I used to be an avid horror movie and book nerd, but have ventured away from that genre, since I found it difficult to find something to pique and keep my interest. This author lured me back into my old love for this genre. She has done an amazing job at creating short, yet rich and skin-crawling creepy stories. It takes a good writer to create such a detailed world and complex characters in such few pages. I can’t wait to reunite with my old love of horror through more of her writings.

This book was action packed and felt like so much information, action, and events in one book! Ian troy is the main character and I truly enjoyed getting to know him. He is a Shinree magic user who after finding the crown of stones accidentally killed off two armies. Learning about the use of magic through the stones was very interesting. Ian wakes up to the devastation, hides the crown, and leaves the kingdom. Ian then taught himself how to stop using magic and we find the story comes back 10 years after the battle. There are so many other likable characters like Jarryd and Malaq, his two companions on his way back home to help the Rellan palace and the Queen battle against the Langorians. Sienn and Neela are strong willed women in Ian’s life and keep the story moving. The kingdoms that have been created and described in this book are amazing and sound like ancient times with castles, men on horses, and a lot of sword fighting. Ian finds himself in so many battles and it seems that the fates are against him. I am starting the second book now to see where the story goes next!

Ten Thousand Shells and Counting By: Nadija Mujagic
This is an amazingly well written memoir about the author’s experiences living in Sarajevo during the Bosnian War. This book gives the reader a first hand look of what it was like to live during a war. It shows the absolute atrocities that the author faced and saw but it also shows how she did not lose her sense of humor or the fact that she is still a normal teenager with hormones. This book is so much more than a memoir of living during a war. It is really a coming of age story. A tale of how the author found who she was while living in a war. This is a story of persistence, of how hope endures, and all in all I believe that this is a must read for everyone, young and old, because I believe there is something in Nadia’s story that we all can learn from.

I truly loved this book. I have only read a few books that take place in a circus and every time I forget just how enchanting and complicated of a setting that is. In this story, Cirque de Lys is its own world and as the reader you are completely sucked into and captivated by it, at least I was. This world is full of suspense and twists and turns as well as an absolutely spellbinding romance. It includes super steamy scenes that it is easy to get lost in. This is definitely a book that builds up to its burn but when its over, you are dying for the next book. I know that I cannot wait to reenter the world of Cirque de Lys again.

Breach of Trust is the 8th book in the Madeline Dawkins series by Cynthia Hamilton and it does not disappoint. I have really enjoyed all the books in this series so far, the author consistently comes up with engaging and enjoyable stories. In this book the team at MDPI have 3 cases on the go; a messy divorce with an abusive husband, who reminds Madeline a lot of her own experiences; a missing daughter who had left to join a cult; and a poison pen who is terrorising the residents of the facility where Madeline’s father, Mack, has moved into. I love how the suspense builds throughout the book and that each story gets its fair share of attention. A definite page turner.

I love poetry and I love John Lennon so I was thrilled to read these. I found it sounded better reading it aloud though because my head scrambled the words and they just didn’t sound as good. I think ‘Pain Pain, Mental or Physical It’s All The Same’ was my favorite of them all though; I loved them all but sometimes things just connect you know. I’m glad Ryan Becker loves writing and shows the world a different set up of poetry with this lense.

True to its title, this collection of short stories is sure to inspire at least a few nights of insomnia. I love creepy and slightly bone-chilling stories, but what makes this collection better is the sudden introductions and endings of each one. I wish I could say with certainty that I had a favorite of the stories, but they’re all so good there really is no way to choose. The author has a way of telling the tales in each chapter/short story that leaves the reader satisfied, despite the short aspect of each story. I’ll definitely be reflecting on this book during the spooky season!

This author has taken mental health thoughts and put it on paper. Not boring like psychologists but very well thoughtout and gracefully understanding in poetry. You may need a dictionary but take your time, get lost in every word an youll enjoy it. I love how each poem has its own colorful trend so you know when one ends and another one starts.

This is the 3rd book in The God’s Scion series. This is a fast paced sci-fi adventure which will keep you turning pages from beginning to end. I do highly recommend reading the other 2 books in the series first so you get a complete picture of the characters and their world because the author’s writing really creates the magical worlds and adventures.

In this instalment of this series, Will, Maggie and Dylan return, but they are no longer together, Will and Maggie are in the present and Dylan is in the sixteenth century, but as always on the border, danger is never far away and there is always the risk of attacks and so when things turn bloody, Dylan realises that something is not right and that time is not running as it should. In the present, Will and Maggie are settling into their new lives and Will is realising just how different the two centuries are, so when they decide that they want to connect with those around where they will be living more, they start to open up about their adventures, but there are still surprises in store for the two.
As Will and Maggie spend more and more time together and try to unravel what has been happening since their return, they find a new note in a diary and it puts a swathe of ice cold water down both of their spines, something has happened in the past and Dylan has sent a message through time that they will need to come back to help set things right, but they have no idea how they are going to do it. I was only 12 pages in and already I was identifying with the characters …..from loss and grief to fighting kids and kids waiting till the last minute to drop a bombshell of things being needed 🙈
Sometimes while reading this I couldn’t help but wonder if there was a hidden camera somewhere , because it really felt like a carbon copy of my home life 🤣🙈
There is also hope in hopelessness which is so beautiful , I think back to when Curtis’s room had to be sorted , all the things that had to be sorted and packed and in doing so they made new memories ….
There’s so much about this book actually ❣️📚it’s one of those that moves you , it will haunt you when you done and it makes you feel again and again and it’s one of those reads you’ll go back and read again and you’d want to share it with anyone who comes your way 😉❣️📚

So “Jack” ( Gracomina) and “ Nolan” ( Isaac) shared a passionate weekend , a taste of freedom that was short lived for Jack when she had to run away and face reality again , Jack followed , he tried to catch her but to no avail and the rest is history or it is until her family is in their family office , in need of protection . I must say these 2 keep their poses well and their recognition of each other was kept well hidden from her family but no so much those of the Hawkes….
So while danger is lurking Jack and Nolan have a lot to figure out and their new little family tries to live their lives amidst the chaos around them and while I’m thrilled I can’t help be be afraid at the same time because a man who loves the way he does makes him a target …..
I love the Hawke family ❣️they’re fierce , protective , loving and intense ! This time round there was tears , endearing moments , steamy moments and be still my beating heart moments ….
P.S. Little Vivianna is such a cutie and has her daddy wrapped around her little finger ( just love how tough Guy goes soft guy) and Fluffy is close on her heels 😉

Savage Lies, the first book in the Hidden Valley Elite series by Isla Vaughn great read. This bully to romance grabbed be instantly. Riley and Cole, the main characters have something that draw them together and that is what make reading this so profound. The teenage drama, the family dysfunctions, and the emotions in this book grab you even more to make this hard to walk away kind of read. The supporting character are amazing too and hope some get their own book along the way. This is the first book that I read by this author and I am hooked. I love that this series is darker then the normal high school stuff. This is not that type of read. The author really showed emotion in creating this series. Each character is their own, each plot comes with drama that make this series strong. I can not wait to read all the books in this series!

I loved this book! Brinley and Adrian’s story was spell binding! Mr. Grump beloved by all his small town, find Ms. Sunshine who is running from her own dark secrets. Add in the small town setting, a group of fabulous friends, and endless opportunities to see the story continue as the other’s find their own ways! What is there not to love about it?!?!?! I pretty sure I visually inhaled this book in one sitting and I cannot wait for more. Read it and fall in love with Brin and Adrian just like the rest of us did!

Dawnbreaker is the first book I have read from this author. At first, I was worried there were too many tropes rolled into one story and I wouldn’t be able to keep up. However, Hadley Thorne does an amazing job weaving a tale of mystery and intrigue that hooks you from the start.
The story follows Connor and Niamh. Both are from two completely different worlds, or so you think. Connor is a vampire full of hate and revenge, Niamh is a fae princess who is next in line. Both are trapped in their own types of “cages” and when they find each other, they connect. When diaster strikes Niamh, Connor is determined to find her and bring her back and help her regain her memories. As their enemies hunt them down, they rely on each other to make it and their connection grows stronger and stronger. I absolutely cannot wait to read the next book as their story continues!

Isla Vaughn’s Hidden Valley Elite Book 1 “Savage Lies” was amazing! I stayed up all night reading because I could not put this book down! Riley is a girl with secrets who is not only gorgeous, but she knows how to protect herself, she doesn’t let anyone mess around with her. Cole is the Elite of Hidden Valley High School and always goes after what he wants, and what he wants is the new girl Riley. Cole is not only a star player on the football team, but he participates in underground fights with his brother Damon, and his cousins Phoenix and Shane to help raise money for his cousin’s college tuition. Unfortunately if Cole or the boys got caught he could risk losing any chance any of them have at going to their choice college. Cole makes sure that everyone in the school knows that Riley is off limits, he wants her cold-shouldered and no male is allowed to date her. Cole gets dirt on Riley, while she gets dirt on Cole, and they both go back and forth trying to one-up the other, while trying to fight off the electrical passion that they have between them. Isla Vaughn is an absolute genius when it comes to writing young adult fiction! I was so excited to find out that she had written “Savage Start” the prequel to the Hidden Valley Elite book series. This is a must-read to fill in the gaps of what Book 1 of the Hidden Valley Elite book series is referring to in the opening chapter when Riley mentions meeting and kissing a hot guy at a pool party a year ago. It also includes the death of Cole and Damon’s mom, which is heartbreaking but something that you need to read to understand where all of Cole and Damon’s anger comes from. This book has well-developed characters with intense details that make you feel like you are right there experiencing life as a teen during your summer break. This may be a short read, but putting the missing pieces together is vital before you move on to Book 2 in the Hidden Valley Elite series.

Yeti Left Home by Aaron Rosenberg is a fun Urban fantasy that had me intrigued right from the beginning. This is a well-woven paranormal mystery story with wonderfully quirky characters, the supernatural, danger, drama, intrigue, tension, folklore/legends, murder, crime, investigation, humour, friendship, discovery, fitting in, finding where you belong, and more. Wylie loves to live a quiet, comfortable, peaceful life. He’s shy and gentle- a nice guy- well, Yeti- to be exact. But his idyllic lifestyle is about to get a disturbing shake-up when some strange murders occur in the area that attract the attention of a Hunter, who then starts sniffing in his direction. Wylie ends up on the run and soon finds himself in the big smoke- where he can hopefully blend in and escape notice. But this new beginning brings surprising discoveries, as well as new mysterious murders, and the Hunter back on the trail. Now Wylie will need to unmask the killer before it’s too late. What ensues makes for a fun read. Looking forward to exploring more of Mr. Rosenberg’s work. Happy Reading…

I’m really enjoying this series, I am so glad I got to read this enemies to lovers romance. I really like how complex the plot of the books is. It makes reading it that much better, but also makes me very excited to read the next book in the series. I’m glad I was able to read the prequel, it’s not necessary but it helped me understand better. The chemistry of Cole and Riley flew off the pages and let me feel the emotions. Great read. Highly Recommend!

Savage Lies picks up one year after the end of Savage Start. Riley and her mom have moved back to Santa Monica. Cole figures out that Riley is the daughter of the woman his father is dating quickly. Cole decides that despite the intense attraction that he can’t explain that he is going to use Riley to inflict pain on his father. Riley turns out to be no easy target. She is spunky and fiery. The back and forth, the games, the slow torture between Riley and Cole is only adding fuel to Cole’s fire, his desire. After a couple of heated, hate filled kisses, Riley and Cole find themselves in an awkward situation. His father and her mother wanted to get married. Cole is dead set on making sure that never happens.
HOLY COW!!!! The sparks and chemistry between Cole and Riley. If these two would just ever just take a moment to have a conversation without all the hatred and evil plans. When these two finally get together it is going to be nothing but fireworks. Between the secrets and lies, Cole and Riley manage to find each other and grow close without all the drama. This book is dark, dirty fun! Can’t wait for the next one!

I loved it! Nadine is me… lol Feisty, independent, stubborn, hates handouts, confrontational. Her character is why I enjoyed Your Trainer Says Hi so much. The author wrote a strong female character that everyone could relate to. I certainly did, the spicy scenes that happen throughout ate just bonus. I will also say there were a few moments that I laughed out loud as well. Nadine has her own job, but is also a partner in a juice bar location as well. Unfortunately though she found out that her partner and soon to be ex-boyfriend Heath drained the accounts to put money towards a pyramid scheme. She’s ready to steamroll whoever gets in her way. Instead she takes Heath’s personal trainer instead, for now. Wick has admired Nadine from afar, never expecting her to be someone he’s training. When she takes over Heath’s contract, he knows now is his shot. Heath wants her, he doesn’t want to let go, however she has so many walls he needs to dismantle to do so. Is it even worth it? What happens between these two is entertaining. It carries spicy encounters, encouragement of one another, respect, and some laughs. So what do you have to lose? A revenge romance that will have you wanting more. It will also make you not want to put the book down. So go on, jump in. It doesn’t hurt… lol
I really enjoyed this story. The author did a great job of creating a sci-fi fantasy world that mixes in their world with the regular human world. We jump right in with Amy, who is semi on the run from the powers that destroyed her home. She has made some close friends who are helping her and I loved the friendships between the characters and how they are all working to help take down Opal, the vengeful leader. I felt the author did an amazing job of inclusivity with LGBTQ+ characters and it is weaved in seamlessly. The author has created a magical world and story full of twists and turns. Amy is a fantastic character who you can’t help but root for. I will be checking out the prequel as well as this is an amazing start to a wonderful series!

These short stories are eery and make you think. They definitely clarified the idea that I’ll be steering clear of any haunted places haha. You never know what is lurking behind and in the shadows. Our brains can do some spooky things. If you like Stephen King books and stories, you’ll love this anthology!

What a beautiful tale of grief and self-discovery. Julie grew up a military brat and longed for the life she now lived in her forever home with her husband and kids. However, the walls start closing in when tragedy strikes. Julie has to find her way through being unavailable for her family on an important day. When she tries to hold her family closer, she creates a distance that ultimately leaves her feeling alone and unwanted. All she wants to do is make it right, but what will that look like for her in the end?
I finished this book in a day! I could not put it down as I was tangled more and more in Julie’s web. This tale will resonate with mothers worldwide. Julie’s emotional journey is one that I can relate to, and I know others will as well. I laughed with her and cried for her as if I were living her life too. As we get deeper into her story, the complexity of her character is beautifully displayed as she tries her best to find her place within the family. The vivid details and supporting characters bring the story to life. I imagined Julie’s world and could picture each scene as the words flew off of the pages. I am humbled and warmed by this beautiful story that I am thankful to have read!
Hephaestus, The God of Fire was a blacksmith and craftsman. This is the story of his life. Being thrown off Mount Olympus twice, once by his mother and once by his father. He did not have a great start to life being rejected. The Sea Witch took him and nursed him to health except for his disfigured leg. As his story progresses you learn how he ended up married to Aphrodite. In a loveless marriage he never really learns what real love is. Quite an interesting story of Greek Mythology.

This book jumps right into the story and does not slow down! I absolutely love the main character! Gwendolyn is my idea of the perfect character. She has the right amount of sugar and spice to make for a great main character. The author did such a great job writing her. She is rightfully guarded and not sure who to trust when she returns to Hoodoo. What is supposed to be a one night stay turns into a whirlwind. Things take an unexpected turn around chapter 24 that got me excited to find out what would happen. I then couldn’t put the book down and stayed up late into the night reading needing to know what would happen next. Of course the ending did me in and now I cannot wait for book 2! Forewarning this book ends on a huge cliffhanger!

The Crown of Stones: Magic-Borne is the third book in The Crown of Stones series. With the resistance shattered, Ian Troy is in hiding and searching for a way to save the realm and free its people. This book is a highly emotional and well-written ending to the series. Once again the characters are amazingly written and Ian has a potent and incredible transformation as a character. All the action and detail from the first two stories are present. This was an incredible way to end the series.

This is the 3rd book of The Gods’ Scion series and my first book I picked up from this author and the story-line was fascinating and intriguing. I will definitely circle back and read the first two books as I feel like I may have missed some pieces and at the end the book it did provide a guide of zodiacs, races of earth, philosophies, time and planets. I wish this was at the beginning for me as well, but overall I really enjoyed this story.
Space Acolyte, Caro, goes missing and it is up to Milky, Roderick and the other acolytes including Scorpio and Sagittarius to save Caro before Ophiuchus does the unthinkable. Upon Caro’s capture, Ophiuchus tells Caro the reason…and can I tell you it was heartbreaking to me. Will Roderick and the other acolytes and zodiacs save Caro in time? Does this also impact overall healing between families?
This is a very good YA Fantasy that I would recommend especially if you like action, drama and healing.
