I picked this book up because the cover was gorgeous, and the name intrigued me. After reading the synopsis I knew I would love this book, and I was right. This was such an emotional rollercoaster and took turns that I wasn’t expecting at all. I definitely sat on the edge of my seat throughout this entire book. My heart broke, I cried, I yelled, and I smiled along as each person told their perspective of that tragic day. I don’t want to give any important details away, so I will just say that you should definitely give this one a chance. You won’t regret letting it touch your heart and give you a new way to look at events in your life. I highly recommend this book!
I have enjoyed all of the books I’ve read by Debra Parmley, and this one is no different! I was quickly pulled into the 1920s alongside Bethany who is trying to find her way in a world that has always been dictated for her. As she turns 18, she begins to learn of the opportunities and endless possibilities in her life. The author did such an amazing job truly setting the scenes of this era, and the story flowed so seamlessly. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in this series to continue the adventure!

This was a good 4 star read. I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters, Celia and Kyle. The author does a great job of pulling you in with her writing. My emotions were all over the place and I couldn’t wait to see how things played out. All of the characters added a great element to the story. And the secrets, what will happen when they are finally revealed? Will they get a HEA? I loved the first book ‘Ashes of Aldyr’ in the Obscured Throne trilogy so I was really excited to read this book. The author has a very vivid writing style and I am all for it. You get transported into an apocalyptic world filled with evil beings. It feels like you are in there yourself. With each different character’s story, I felt my heart beat harder than usual with fear and hope.
A mage, tricked into a wild goose chase of a rescue mission, a dwarf haunted by his dead wife, strange horned creatures and a forbidden village and much more!
Some stories are dark with an unhappy ending, some are more hopeful. I really enjoyed reading what was going to happen next. The only hope is magic users of the fifth sect. Far and few between can the world be saved?
I cannot wait to read the final book of the trilogy!

Walk Off by Bree Kraemer is book one in the Ground Rules series. Celia and Kyle dated years ago and spent nearly a decade trying to get over the other. That never happened. After meeting again, Celia decided she should probably come clean to Kyle about some major secrets she kept and lies she told. Will he forgive her? Can they happily ever after. I found this story to be cute albeit predictable. It was an easy, fast read and an overall good story. There were times where I felt like their characters were annoying but that could go many ways (meaning she makes them relatable or that the character was just whiny). I am definitely interested in the rest of this series!

What a moving story! I tend to be fascinated with perspective stories and how developmentally how the events affect their mindset as well as alter their decisions and thought process there after. This story does those aspects justice as the stories of three surviving women of a plane crash, have intertwined their lives. A flight attendant during the tragedy, Julie was given orders on that day and the guilt she carries from her decision on doing so. A mother with her lap baby, Marie, has been plagued with making the right decision and affecting the outcome of her family life. Then lastly one of the surviving lap babies, Paige has been coming to terms with her life even since those day’s events and bringing her own life together. Amazing read!

Lap baby by was just as the title says, super emotional. I am a first time reader of author Amy Q. Barker. After reading the synopsis I knew the book was going to be an emotional ride but It was way more than I expected. It was making me tear just like grey’s anatomy does 😭. It was sooo good the author really knows how to jerk your chain, and pull you in wanting more. I really enjoyed getting to see all the different povs on how they were living after the crash and how it affected them. I really really really recommend reading this story and I know it will be a reread for me.
This book is located in Hot Springs and includes Al Capones Gang, detectives, and Bethany. Bethany lives with her Uncle James and Aunt Margaret who are strict with her and control every oart of her life for her inheritance. Her aunt is strict and very old fashioned. Hot Springs is where she tries to take the chance to be who she wants to be. Bethany ends up with two men who want her. Detective Tollick is one of them and he loves butterflies. Isla Vaughn scored a touchdown with the 3rd book in the Hidden Valley Elite series! I loved Damon’s mysterious character from the first two books in this series and was so excited for him to be one of the main characters in his tale of enemies to lovers story. Skylar is the perfect fiesty female to stand up against Damon’s broody, “I can have whoever I want” attitude. I love the change that you see through the unique ability of Isla Vaughn to develop her character, and then slowly lead you along the path that she wants you to take to recognize the growth in some and the decline of maturity in others. This is truly one of my favorite Hidden Valley Elite books in the series so far, Isla Vaughn continues to grow as a writer as she spins these tales of the Elite’s romantic lives. I love that she does not leave us wondering about our prior characters but doesn’t allow them to be the key players as their story continues in the shadows, where we may peek in on them from time to time but maintain our focus on our stars of the story. If you have not read the prior books in this series I highly recommend you look them up and get reading! This book took me less than a day to get through, it was so enticing I couldn’t put it down! I am so excited for Book #4 to come out soon, the wait is excruciating, being left on a serious cliffhanger right at the last minute, I am dying to know what’s next for Damon and Skylar, will they get their happily ever after, or will Skylar sacrifice everything for her BFF? Inspirational. This is the first book I have read by this author and while I don’t usually read historical fiction books everything about this book drew me in to give it a read. Primarily told from Desert Flower/ Talks Like Thunder’s perspective we get a few glimpses from her Grandfather Gray Fox. 1871, Desert Flower is only seven years old, her father has long passed and now so has her mother. While he tribe, the White Mountain Apache’s care for her, lack of food and illnesses from the white-eyes (blue coats) has wiped out several leaving her the only child that survived the stomach rot. Enter her grandfather Gray Fox and several of his Chiricahua warriors. Having heard of her mother’s passing he has come to reclaim his granddaughter and take her to his tribe, the Three Hills Chiricahua Apache’s. Very quickly her spirit is strong while she doesn’t want to leave her friends and the family of her tribe, she overhears the fear of starvation if she stays. Riding a horse for the first time she is scared, leaving her people, surrounded by strangers, and going to a place she has never seen or heard of. As part of her assimilation into her grandfather’s tribe she is given a new name, Talks Like Thunder. Finally, she understands and feels her grandfather’s affection for her and in time he calls her daughter as a term of endearment. Mastering many weapons, she is invited to the Warrior’s Society, and she is determined to prove she belongs or at least not go down without a fight. Once she officially becomes a woman, she truly feels that this is her dream tribe, and she belongs. Can Thunder fulfill her goal of becoming a warrior? Will she get the husband of her dreams Golden Eagle (Sparrow)? With the invaders all around will her tribe be able to survive the battles to come. Learning about our history is only one side of it. This book, while fictionalized, is built upon historical events, and the sadness fills my soul for the loss of so many. The details, world building for the period and growth of the characters leaves you wanting more. Thunder is the female protagonist we all need. She is strong and fierce, and she is a woman that wants a husband and family. Her determination to protect her people and those she loves gives her strength every step of the way. I can’t wait to read more of this series, Falling Star, novella two and see more of this side of history that’s often forgotten.

I found this story interesting and original. There are different factions of witches in this world. Each have their own magic which leans towards a certain aspect ex: the Elway, ghosts, potions and shape shifting. One coven, the Dutchmen, stole another’s magic to enhance their own. The Wolfsbane are forced to shift with the cycles of the moon with no other powers. They learn that the prince of the Dutchmen is looking for a wife so they send Rose to infiltrate and retry their source of magic to break the curse. Rose never expected to fall for the prince and so the adventure begins…
Being as this is my first book from this author, I found it enjoy. It is an enemies to lovers story with a paranormal twist. I really liked Rose not so much Titan. There were moments when I liked him and others when I wasn’t so sure. I wasn’t crazy about the ending but on a good note, it can lead in there being a part two to the book.

I have to say in full honesty that Debra Parmley has become one of my favorite authors and I look forward to any new release by her. This one was no exception. However, when I saw that this one took place in the 1920s and featured Al Capone’s group, I don’t think I could have picked up this book any faster. This story did not disappoint. I read it in one complete sitting and I cannot wait for the rest of the series. This book completely delivers. It features a main character who is coming of age and is on the brink of womanhood and gaining all independence. She is everything I imagine a strong female in the 1920s would be. She has been raised by her aunt and uncle but things there have always kept her in a proverbial cage. When she travels with them to Hot Springs her life truly opens up. This is when we really see what I imagine the 1920s to be, from the descriptions of the clothes, the glamorous names being featured. This book absolutely features suspense, betrayal, romance and all the aspects of prohibition. This book was absolutely fantastic and I loved watching Bethany come into her own. I definitely recommend reading this one and adding the rest of the series on your books to read list!

This short book was an enjoyable start to the Butterflies Fly Free series.
I enjoyed the author’s writing style; it was easy to follow, and the descriptions painted a clear picture of the scene. You could get a sense of the characters’ personalities and emotions through the descriptive writing too before/without it being stated outright which I enjoyed.
The characters were well-written, their personalities shone and my blood boiled at the way poor Bethany was treated. The emotions you’re made to feel about some of the characters is very real and there were times when I very almost believed that Bethany wouldn’t get her HEA. I absolutely loved Paul and there were a couple of times I was convinced he’s been killed and my heart almost broke.
My only criticism would be that the ending seemed a little rushed. I would have loved for the book to be longer so that the character development which occurred could be explored in more depth and that some of the scenes could have been extended. But given the length of the book, the author did a great job!

This was a good book and I think many kids would enjoy it. It defines my feelings about remembering to take care of yourself as well as others. Start of a new trilogy This is the fourth book in the Blood Prophecy series but the first in the Tall Dark Man trilogy. It continues from where the previous book left off and has the Queen faced with another prophecy. The writing can be a bit hard to follow as it is written like short diary entries that the reader needs to keep track of. With multiple layers, characters and storyline’s all running at the same time it did get a bit confusing and I needed to stop several times and work it out in my head before continuing. It is an intriguing plot and that kept me reading until the end. It will be interesting to see how this prophecy plays out.

This book is full of emotion and pulled me in right away. There is character growth along with heartwarming moments and heart wrenching moments. This is Angelo and Lucia’s story and you won’t want to miss out on it. These two have grown up together because their parents are best friends. Angelo has always been Lucia’s protector because he loves her but also because it’s expected of him. In his mind there have been different reasons throughout their childhood and now as young adults as to why he hasn’t told her how he truly feels. Lucia is afraid that Angelo only sees her as a younger sister and is afraid to ruin their friendship if she were to ever tell him how she really feels. I must have yelled at the book a few times hoping they would figure it out so they could be together! I don’t want to give anything away, so I’m just going to say this is a must read. I can’t wait to read what this author has in store next.

I love a good Why Choose book, so I decided to give this one a try. As I was reading, I felt like there was something off. It may have been the pacing, because at times it felt a bit rushed. It could also have been something about the way the characters were written. There were times I lost connection with them. But a bit of spice, witty banter, and mystery kept things lively enough to make it a good read.

It was wonderful to see a historical romance set in the 1920’s as it is not something I have come across before. And the author has done an amazing job of bringing that era to life. Her descriptions, and the story, really made it feel like I was there in the 20s. I could imagine everything being described and it was fascinating to read. The overall story was fun and easy to read. It is short book so did not take me long to get through it but it was thoroughly enjoyable all the same. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This was a sweet and enjoyable read about finding romance in your life again. This is the third book in the series and can be read as a standalone but I would personally recommend reading all of them. I loved seeing more of these characters and watching them develop over the course of the book. It was heart warming to see them rediscover their love and passion. The author has created a meaningful story, about characters who don’t always get the spotlight. It was nice to read about characters after the “happy ever after” and I think this was a great book.

Rise of the Hunter is book four in the Blood Prophecy series. It is a supernatural thriller full of magic, action, suspense, mystery, danger, and a twist on the age-old battle of good versus evil. This story continues from the first three books and The Tall Dark Man becomes the center of the storyline. If you have not read the first few books, I highly recommend reading them first or you may feel a bit lost. The story is told from multiple POV’s and through different time periods which I found to be a bit hard to follow. In all honesty, it became confusing to have so many different time jumps back and forth which is why I have taken away one star in my rating. With that being said, the author does a great job of explaining the history of the prophecy and the Tall Dark Man’s desire for vengeance. The characters were interesting and well written. The overall story of The Tall Dark Man is fast paced, dark, and full of dark magic, vampires, witches, wolves, demons and the paranormal. Overall, this was a fantastic read.

I’m not sure what I expected when I picked this book to read, but I assure you, it exceeded every expectation. The openness and rawness of his emotions and the way he allows us into his world while sharing his ways of coping is awe-inspiring. David has done something with this book that I didn’t think was possible. He allowed me to grieve for a life that I lost, while still being hopeful for a life that I could have, as long as I was willing to put in the spiritual work. This book has given me so much, and for that, I am so thankful. I absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for a different perspective on dealing with life and the processes of navigating its twists and turns without the grace and ease that so many people lead you to believe it comes with.

Huff…Puff…Grind! The Three Little Pigs Get Smart is a bit of a twist on the classic fairytale, The Three Little Pigs. The Three Little Pigs, Stella, Hal, and Brad have all built what they feel are sturdy homes after having studied architecture in school. When the big bad wolf comes huffing and puffing at each of their doors, he finds their homes will not fall. Stella, Hal, and Brad get together and try to find another use for all the big bad wolf’s hot air. Rather than have the big bad wolf be an enemy they make a deal with him and turn him into an ally. This was a cute and imaginative retelling of the classic that teaches children about kindness, friendship, working together, and problem solving.

This was a super quick paranormal, enemies to lovers, romance. Titan is being forced to find a wife and Rose is forced in the mix to find the moonstone to save her people. Titan is intrigued with rose right from the start but he can’t quite figure her out. Rose never expect to want to get close to Titan. Titan present as the ultimate villain but the dual POV story telling you get to see more into the minds of both main characters. This world of witches wolves, fairies, and more is so intriguing. I do feel the plot is a little lacking, in the sense it all just feels like a lot in a short book but still enjoyable.

I wish I had known up front that this was based off a true story! Wow! This book takes you through an emotional timeline that starts with a plane crash. It follows several survivors and shows how they each work through the trauma and move on in their lives – or not. I enjoyed the story from the very beginning – it was intriguing and made me want to keep reading. I found myself thinking about the grief and guilt one most endure when making decisions that result in consequences we don’t know will happen or think are possible. How do you move on after giving directives that you are required to give that result in innocent lives being lost? It also made me reflect on how we cope after a trauma – it looks different for so many.
Lap Baby is the first book I’ve read by this author. The author truly did not disappoint at all. The first few pages she pulled me in and I was hooked into the story. The book was like a emotional roller coaster for me. The world building and characters was well thought out. The plot of the story with details was amazing. Lap Baby was definitely a page turner for me.
This book is an emotional ride with gripping characters who are all affected by trauma. How would you cope if you were only one of four survivors of a major plane crash that killed 142 individuals? Would this one tragedy stay with you and change your whole life by being a constant reminder of that day, or would you be able to walk away and push that day aside to move on with your life? This is what Julie, Marie, Paige, and Terry must decide in “Lap Baby” by Amy Q. Barker. Here we get to see three of the four survivors’ first-person journeys and how their lives have been changed. This was such a fascinating read that had me wanting to know more about these people, their lives, and honestly had me upset and heartbroken for them. This story and these characters were so well thought out and written that I honestly questioned if this was a biography at one point! If you want an engaging, emotional read, check this out.

Soul Redeemed (War of Destiny Book 5) by Theresa Van Spankeren. This is such a good vampire, paranormal series. I highly recommend reading these in order to better understand the story and characters. Its the continuing story of Julia and learning to use her very rare power she was blessed with. Her katet has been guiding her on the ways to use this power and she relies on him heavily. The katet is also tryin to runify the Resistance and fight against Valentino’s forces at the same time. Julia truly believes Valentino’s main goal is to kill the katet. This story is full of adventure, vampires and magic powers that will keep you turning pages to the very end. This is not my favorite genre but I have truly enjoyed this series. Do yourself a favor and read it today.

Brutal Days is the third installment of the Hidden Valley Elite Series, and it is just as good as the first two books. In fact, Damon and Skylar may have a little bit more of my heart than Cole and Riley….if I’m being honest.
From the very beginning, Vaughn had my attention and kept it throughout the book. What started out as a good intention to help a friend soon turns into a complex situation fraught with lust, emotion, and secrets. Two people who hate each other also can’t stop thinking about each other. What is a dark romance has some really bright places in Isla Vaughn’s talented hands. The push and pull between Damon and Skylar made the book even better. These two characters have had to deal with some really painful events in their past, and so both are intent on having some control in their lives. Yet, they find that they can let go and show parts of themselves to each other that they can’t show anyone else. Skylar is a wonderful, multi-faceted, and strong female lead. Damon has hard edges and can sometimes be a real jerk, but he can also be tender with Skylar. How could I not fall in love with them and their story!!!!
I wasn’t sure if I would like the premise of the book because of the blackmail angle, and I didn’t want Skylar to be forced to do something she didn’t really want to. However, that wasn’t the case. Vaughn did a fabulous job of giving us a dark romance but with a lot of emotion involved. I can’t wait to see the next leg of Damon and Skylar’s journey to happiness.
